Awww you girls are all so BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I will try and get back and do a proper post soon.....need to get back to reality sooner or later. Things are hard, so damn hard but I keep telling myself that worse things could happen, and I am not the only person to go through this sort of thing.
Just wanted to say re the bbh's - go large Sasha. I don't know how much Oliver weighs but I doubt he would even be 10kgs. I bought a stack of mediums and he has nearly outgrown them. The large are a little bulky on him but they fit better than the mediums. I love my mcn's!!!
Hello to everyone else.
Raels xo

Super quick while cooking tea - DH has been down tending to his beloved wicket so to punish him I told him we are having ham steaks for tea which he hates. I have really crumbed some veal snitchel (how do you spell it??) but i'm not going to tell him that. Evil..
Megan - the thread on Tom is in the Baby and Toddler general discussion under the title Discipline. Jan's advice is fantastic. Tom's hiting/biting seems to come out too when he is over excited or tired. Today was the first real proper aggressive go. Thankfully there was no more attempts to hit or bite for the rest of the day. The only tip I have regarding saying no is I find saying "Tom no" rather than just "no" works a little better because he seems to realise I am talking to him. Not always though. That tends to be for touching things, rather than his agro sessions
Raels -
-
Thanks for the advice guys. I will return the nappies asap - so disappointed I can't get right into it!
:comfort: Raels. Wish I could do something to help. Do you have any family and friends close by for support? Feel free to let the story out here if that helps at all, or PM or don't even think about it if that's better.
Megan, sorry but LOL at your baby-hicky! Don't you just love swimming for giving good sleep? :D The nappy talk IS confusing for sure. It definitely seemed like another language to me until I started doing a little research into it. I still glaze over a bit when I'm reading about it all sometimes...
Em, schnitzel

Sasha - the SCHNITZEL went down well

Hi ladies :)
Oh boy the days are dragging now lol! 15 to go and counting:lol: No signs of anything happening yet, bubs still quite active and constant hiccups too! Actually im getting a little scared/nervous now! On the DH thing, he will be home tomorrow night for 7 wks so will not be in contact with the other person and wont be going back to that mine to work as it closes down just after he is due to go back so he is being transferred elsewhere and its not the same place as her so that really helps. I have actually discussed the issue with DH and he realises that soon we will talk it out but for now we need to focus on me, ethan and the new bubs arrival. Im pretty certain we will get through it, but need a lot of changes happening, sadly it happened when i was pg with ethan too but nothing else until 2 months ago. Anyway wont babble about that anymore and will get on to some personals. (about time!!)
Em- Good to hear the schnitzel went down well! lol @ telling DH it was ham steaks. I am having a few issues with ethan at the moment to with hitting/pushing, his cousin is quite rough with him, she is only 5 months older, he never used to retaliate but just lately he is, he is more of a pusher than hitting. He is also being quite rough to me, he pinches, mainly my bb's, and he pulls my hair, but my mum and sister think that he may be doing it because he is picking up on the fact that something is going to happen soon (new bub) and is confused and as its only me and him the majority of the time thats why me, iykwim because he has never pinched anyone else or pulled hair. According to my sister her ds got like this just before she was due to have her dd. I will have to check out your other thread to see what others have said.
Raels- Hope your feeling okay hun, as the others have all said where here for you. Huge hugs, you will get there
Megan- I am very unorganised for christmas too lol I have most of ethans presents done but thats it! Oops :D But as you said it will happen. Usually we spend christmas day from luchtime onwards (have christmas at home first) at my parents with the family, when we moved in to our new place in feb, it was decided that christmas would be here as our entertaining outdoor area is quite big, but then i got pg and said no way am i hosting a big christmas here when bubs is due 2 days before lol and well now NO-ONE has made plans as there all waiting on me and bub  lol!!
Okay, i got some done lol now my boy is awake! Will finish off later, having trouble sleeping now so i will more than likely be back :)
Goodnight for now ladies.

Oh Em - I just read your "discipline" post and got a bit of a lump in my throat as i know how it feels when you just dont know what to do! On Friday Lucas squealed all the way home from mothers group then i couldnt get him to sleep and he was so over tired. I ended up in tears because i was just lost. I couldnt get him to sleep in my arms or in his cot, i didnt know whether to just let him cry for a bit or what. DH got home and i was a mess! The stupid thing is we just left him up and he was fine and went to bed at 6.30pm. Anyway what i am trying to say is "i feel your pain". It is so hard sometimes not knowing what is the "right" thing to do and it gets the better of me too often! And when they start calling "mummy" well that's just too personal! Breaks my heart! I think you handled your situation perfectly!!!
-
Thanks Megan - bring tears to my eyes reading your gorgeous post!
-
Hello girls! Thought i would jump on and say a quick hello while waiting forthe kitchen floor to dry - hopefully before Tom wakes up. Nothing like little footprints through a freshly mopped floor! I am absolutely knackered after working all this week - can't wait till after Christmas to go back to my one day! Poor Tom is a little confused at mummy going off to work all the time - tomorrow and Saturday. Ah, makes me tired thinking about it! V - I don't know how you coped with 2 jobs for so long!
Thanks to everyone on your support over the discipline thing. Good news is he hasn't tried it again so maybe the time out worked. DH and I had a big talk about it and decided that the room time out of 1 minute will be appropiate for hitting/biting as it is something that can cause harm to other people - especially if he bites another child. He never has thankgod - but you never know. Anything else we are going to try and just stick with a stern talking to. DH caught him drawing on the wall last night with a piece of chalk that he had found (don't know where!) and said "Tom stop that or you will go to your room" and he dropped the chalk straight away, she obviously has a understanding of what we are talking about.
We also talked about not smacking for smacking. DH grew up in a 'smacking household' so a slap on the bum/hand doesn't mean much to him, but I explained that I didn't think it was fair to hit and not expect him to hit back which DH hadn't really thought about. My parents didn't really smack so I was raised a bit differently to him - I was smacked once by my dad and I clearly rememeber it and I am 30! It was for the most random thing so I really must of been pushing his buttons!!
Jess -hope you are feeling ok! I had a dream last night that I came on here and posted that you had had the baby - boy of course and you called him Jack. It was such a clear dream! Hope you are enjoying your you and Ethan time xx Do you have any of the girls mobile numbers so you can let someone know when you have him?
Nicky - I am MCN addicted again!! I just brought 2 itti bitti's - one snap in and one sewn in. They are quite a trim fit aren't they? I am hoping so as I am finding the BBH too bulky under T's summer shorts.
Megan - Elmo's are on sale in Kmart for the next few days for $78. I thought of you when I saw the ad.
-
Hi there everyone!
Em yes Ittis are very trim fitting... they look like a sposie under clothes which is great:) I've got more itti bittis than anything else.. they dry nice and quickly too:) Yay for MCN's!
Hi everyone! I've been slack and still am, so when I feel a bit better I will read through a bit more.
We're plodding along ok here. Lachies had a bit of a chesty cold, and all of his 'eye' teeth have cut through, so he's been pretty cranky of late. Some nights, he sleeps 12-13 hours like a champion, and then others.... well, it takes me 2 hours to settle him and he ends up sleeping in our bed. That will stop soon as I just don't have enough room with my ginormous stomach, DH and him. LOL
Not much else, the boy is obsessed with the CHristams baubles on the tree, so every night I have to put them back on. I am just waiting for the tree to topple.
ANyway, I think it's chuck o'clock again..... Talk to you all soon.
xxoo
-
Nicky, you poor thing, I hate that time of the day. I've been really lucky with our Christmas tree, so far he looks, but hasn't touched. I'm just waiting... Hopefully he gets over his cold soon, don't you just hate "summer" colds.
Em - lucky it was just chalk, but aren't they creative with a drawing object in their hands. I have a sudoku addiction, so Liam has seen me pouring over papers since he was born, and now does the same, cheeky monkey face. Well done on getting the floor washed. I was planning to do that today, but instead I've procrastinated very nicely & it's not done.
Sacha - have your replacement MCN's arrived yet?
I have a nasty chesty cough that's developed over the last couple of days. Liam is fit as a fiddle (touchwood), which is where I normally get my colds from, so I have no idea how I've picked this one up. DF called me a little while ago & just laughed at the sound of my voice, so much for sympathy.
I'm off to do a little bit of dress shopping tomorrow, all a bit daunting really. I think I've drawn the short straw when it comes to bride-i-ness, cos I really don't know what I'm after, other than a white frock. Although I have worked out the menu, so I guess that shows where my priorities are. I still haven't made much headway into the whole Christmas shopping thing, I have a couple of bits & pieces done, but finding it hard to summon up the energy/enthusiasm to battle the crowds. Maybe Sunday's the day.
Anyway, hope everyone else is well.
-
well, I'm bored, so I'm back again. Kids are funny, although sometimes I'm not quite sure where mine comes from. He was "helping" cook dinner last night, by standing on a chair next to the bench because it was the only way I could stop him from nagging at my leg to be picked up. I was cutting up capsicum into small pieces, so put a couple of bits in front of him & he wolfed them down, which was most unexpected. So I've decided that this could be a good activity - he gets to see the food preparation, & can taste bits & pieces along the way, and hopefully I'll raise a boy who can cook, and cook well, and who'll also eat lots of interesting things. And then tonight I was steaming some vegies in the microwave, which like all microwaves beeps when it's finished, and then I hear this little "beeeep" coming from Liam. So I put the vegies on for another 10 seconds & he did it again. It's daggy I know, but kind of clever of him, it was in tune as well, so he was obviously listening to it. So now my goal for Christmas Day is to turn this into a new trick to show - ie 'what does a microwave say?" kind of thing. Cos we have "what does a dog say?" down pat these days, time to move on.
The dress shopping yesterday ended up being much more fun than I was expecting it to be. Only went to two shops, but have about 6 dresses that I could happily wear, so I think my challenge is not going to be finding a dress that I like, rather it's going to be deciding which one I like the most. I'm almost excited about it, which is a good thing I think.
Anyway, hope everyone else has had good weekends.

Hello!
Grr, i am very over going back to work before it even begins! I ended up in tears on Friday.....I finally got an email from work about my timetable and they had me down for four days instead of three and only two VCE classes. Two classes is fine but spread over four days means it's nearly pointless going back to work and paying a full day for Lucas in childcare if i am not even at work for a day (you have to pay the full day regardless). So anyway i rang work and said i wont do it (then i went in there cos i was so angry) and they have changed it to 3 days. But.....now i cant get Lucas into childcare on one of the days as it took so long for work to give me the days in the first place. He has to go on a waiting list so who knows what i'll do if i cant get in. Then on the same day i lost my phone (got it back) and left my jacket at work that i needed that night. ARRHHHHHH! Sorry i needed to get that out!
Then this morning Lucas woke up at 7.30am so i went in and he was standing in his cot with his blankie on the floor (as per usual) so i gave it back to him and he lay back down and went to sleep. He woke up a couple more times and kept going back to sleep. Finally at 9.30am i got him up but he just wanted to go back to sleep. He was pale and limp and a bit shaky. So.......couldnt get into normal doctors (daniel rang and i dont think he explained situation properly) so i rang a different doctors and explained what Lucas was like and receptionist says "well we're fully booked too, hassle your own doctor" and practically hung up! I was so angry. I rang my doc back and got him in, but true to form Lucas had snapped out of it a bit by the time i got there. Doc said he had a red throat and was obviously getting something but couldnt say what yet. He has had feral nappies all day and vomited up his dinner so its been fun! He is ok though.
Golly gosh sorry about that long winded whine! I am really just wasting time cos my uncle is here and he and Daniel and my dad are all watching some cricket show on Foxtel that i am just rivoted by!!
Jan - I had to laugh, Lucas does the microwave "beep, beep, beep" too! He used to get impatient waiting for his milk and i'd tell him he had to wait for the beeps so now he does them himself! Great idea with the cooking too!! Glad you're happy with all the dress options...and very happy you are getting into the bridey thing!!
-
Guess what my lovely ladies, only 6 more days until my DH is home, yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry just had to get that out.
Sorry Megan to hear that your work stuffed you around. I hope he can get in. Fingers crossed for you.
Jan, Liam sounds so cute. I can picture this cutie sitting there waiting sounding beep beep beep. Great idea on the cooking.
Nicky I'm so sorry to hear your suffering from MS still. Have they prescribed something for you?
Jess hoping everything is going well.
Jem just about to sms you :)
For us, can't wait for DH to get home. Charlize is counting down, it's very cute, DH is loving it. Jack is going along so well. He can now say his colours, well blue, red, yellow anyway. And he can now say a few words in spanish on cue, thanks to Dora. And he is still Thomas crazy, thomas this toot toot that, and he says 'slow down and take care' very cute. He is killing me though, he wakes every morning at 5am give or take 15 minutes and it's usually take. I feel like a walking zombie. Thinking about time off over christmas though, and seeing DH.
What is everyone doing for Christmas? We are heading to the sunshine coast with my sister and her 2 kids and my mum and dad for 3 nights then coming home and driving to Sydney south west to spend new years with my DH family. Can't wait, going to be great. We haven't spent new years down there before, well DH hasn't since we have been with each other and that is now, ummm let me see nearly 10 years. So should be good.
Anyway must be off, talk to you all again soon.
-
Hi everyone, just a quick pop-in for now so I might not get to everybody.
Jess, oooh, it's getting so close! Anything happening?
Jan, are you feeling any better? How great that Liam will eat capsicum! Autie has gone right off her vegies since being sick, well, right off everything actually (except biscuits...hmmm) To tell the truth I haven't really offered her anything raw because she has only just gotten two molars and I think she'd have trouble. This morning though, she went to the kitchen gate and was asking for a 'baa' and when I let her in to show me she went straight to her plastics cupboard and passed me a bowl, then to the weetbix box and then the fridge for milk. So I gave it to her and put her in her chair and she started eating by herself so proud. I know she's probably watched me do it a hundred times but it's weird how all of a sudden, she just decides to get it all happening on her own. It's great that you have so much choice for your dress. I had the same thing happen and ended up going back to number one. I hear that happens to many people.
Oh crap, gotta go. I'll finish later.

WOW CONGRATS JESS!!! Have a wonderful Christmas, what a wonderful gift :)
Thanks Em and Jess for your bday wishes I had a great day, spent it with my angel, then family at night.
So ladies WHAT HAVE I MISSED!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?????????
Dec is so crazy busy for us!!!
Mel - is DH home??? Will he be home for xmas? I have been meaning to ask you on FB but just didn't get around to it!!! Ok I just read he is home in 5 days that is great!! And that is SO good that Jack can read colours, very advanced :) I think Olivia knows pink, bit hard not to considering EVERYTHING is pink, lukcy that is my fav colour to lol
Any more pg ladies??? I hope all of you that are are keeping well
Sarah - I hope you don't have to do xmas, that is not fair for you, it should taken in turns (saying that I haven't had my turn yet hehe but we have a small house). I love your santa story SO cute!!! When we see Santa I ask Olivia if she wants to see him and she looks scared and shakes her head lol
Raels - I am really sorry to read about what you have been going through. Sending lots of  to you, I hope you have a really good someone to lean on during this time xxx
Hi to everyone else!!! Hope you and your bubbs are keeping well!!
I can't believe xmas is in 1 week!!! We have had a busy one welcomg babies into the world!!! A friend had her baby - wait for it - in the ambulance out the front of her house after only 30 odd mins of labour!!!!!! Both mum and bub are well. Then a friend of ours having twins (boy and girl) were scheduled for a c-sec on the 23rd of Dec (@ 36 weeks) but at 2:30 this morning went into labour!!! As she was walking down her stairs her water broke (and her lovely house has lovely everything including lovely carpet which now has lovely A Fluid all over it lol). She went into the hospital and she was SO advanced they had to get them out by c-sect quick smart!! They are both so healthy and can't wait to see them tomorrow!! THEN my step sister in law is having her baby tomorrow by c-sect!! No-one knows what they are having so can't wait for that!!!
We have also sold our house, just last week!! We have to be out by 4th March so after NY we are going to be house shopping can't wait!!! Bigger house, more room more storage space whoo hoo!!!
Olivia is doing well, a few tanties here and there but not bad. She keeps ripping things, flap books etc I have had to put SO Many things away. But her walking is going great, she walks on her tip toes often, so cute!! We have a really good night routine down pat now and she goes to sleep with no dramas - we didn't have much but she would kick up a fight some nights. She is starting to play with her dollies, she puts them in the stroller and walks around the house, covers them with blankets, gives the water and food and even tried to put a nappy on it :)
Well enough of me. Hope everyone is well.
I should be back before xmas but if the crazy season takes me over and swallows me whole I hope you all and your family have a lovely christmas!!!
Lis xxx
-
Congrats again Jess, so so so so proud of you.
Wow Lis, babies galore for you. How exciting. Olivia sounds like a little darling princess, I love it when kids walk on their toes, very cute. My kids love to rip paper, our poor books look terrible. I have learnt to put good books up high, lol. Yes DH is home on Sunday, only 3 days to go now, can't wait.
-
:bluecheer::bluecheer::bluecheer::bluecheer:
Congratulations Jess!
So glad to hear it went so well - but it's only fair after a not-so-easy pregnancy LOL Can't wait to see some pics. How is Ethan adjusting to being a big brother?
-
Congrats Jess!!!! Welcome to the world Noah!!!!
Here's hoping I get a 2 hour labour this time!!!
Hi everyone. All going well. Have ben sick with the flu/tonsilitis of late, but am getting better.
Got to hear bubs heartbeat for the first time today, and I tell you, it still feels like it did when I heard Lachie's for the first time. I was so excited and releived!!!
I go for my morph scan in 12 days and hope to find out bubs gender, if he/she behaves.
anyway, thought I would pop in.... will actually come back after my ridiculously busy weekend and read.
xxoo
-
Well done Nicky - it must of been a beautiful sound. Hope you are feeling ok
I am so sad - Tom has his first day of day care today. He should be fine - its me that will cry! Send us lots of "don't miss mummy and have fun" vibes please girls!!
-
Grrr, just wrote almost a whole post & then hit something, and gorn. So have to start again, which is frustrating cos was just trying to be quick, given that I'm really supposed to be working. Anyway, here goes again.
Jess - congratulations, well done on the safe arrival of Noah. Hope that he is settling in well for you.
Nicky - yay for hearing the heartbeat, it was one of my favourite sounds everytime I visited my OB.
Em - big  for your first day of day care. It does get easier, but the first few times are pretty sad. I bawled my eyes out for the first couple of weeks, even when I made DF take him, I'm such a sook. Now it's fine cos I know that Liam loves it, but I still always look forward to picking him up, it's the highlight of my day.
Mel - just 2 sleeps to go, you've done so well managing on your own for all this time.
Lis - yay for selling your house, that must be a weight off your shoulders before Christmas. Liam doesn't rip books (yet), but does have a very irritating habit of bending the front cover back, no matter how cranky I get with him. Does my head in, cos I love my books & hate to see them being wrecked. Olivia sounds so cute & caring with her dolls.
Raels - hi out there to you, hope you're doing okay.
I'm still waiting to hear from work about whether they want me back next year, which is a little frustrating. I'm 90% sure that they will, but it's annoying how difficult it is for them to just come back to me with a yes/no. Fingers crossed they say yes, cos I'm kind of liking the money at this point. Anyway, speaking of work, must get back to it.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
-
Hi Ladies
CONGRATULATIONS JESS on the arrival of your little man.
It has been so so long since I have been in here. Things have been crazy busy for me with finishing uni for the year, extra work leading up to xmas and with finally beginning the process of building our house.
Havnt had time to read over any personals but wanted to get on here and quickly wish everyone a very merry christmas and exciting new year. Hopefully after the new year work will settle and I will have more time again for BB.
XOXO

Hi guys. I've just put a very overtired toddy down to sleep (out like a light) after a big morning with four older cousins running her ragged so I thought I'd jump on while I have the chance.
Jess, hope everything is going smoothly at home and you are all coping well with adjusting to a bigger family :D
Hi Emma, nice to hear from you. Sounds like you have been busy. Hope you get some relaxation time soon.
Jan, did you hear back from your work yet? I hate that feeling of waiting on someone else's decision! Have you decided on a dress yet? What style are you leaning toward?
Em, how did it go??? I know for absolute sure I would be a total mess if I left Autie somewhere. I used to tear up just watching the mums of my new kids cry when they left. Are you happy with the centre and do they welcome lots of check-up phone calls during the day? I'm thinking of joining a gym that has child care and even that makes me nervous! LOL
Mel, I think DH is home now? Must be fantastic to see him after so long. Sounds like you have a busy Christmas ahead of you! How do the kids go with long car trips? Jack is very clever to know his colours already. How is his hand these days?
Nicky, it's such an exciting time for you. I hope you are feeling better and able to enjoy Christmas. Was it you who was using the Itti Bittis? I've been using the BBH and like them, but they are a little bulky under clothes. Thought I might give the IB a go if you recommend them?
Lis, wow at your friend's quick delivery! Lucky the ambulance was there at least! Autie has started pretend play with dolls too. And she is loving the pots and pans I just gave her (couldn't wait til Christmas) Always making me 'dinner' and bringing it to me with a spoon. My sister has bought her a cleaning trolley for Chrissy, so I can't wait to see that in action LOL My goal is to train her up early...
Sarah, maybe you should just give your in-laws a list of what you want them to bring! Like you just assume that they'll want to help out...LOL The outfits sound gorgeous for the kids. It's so much fun to dress them up huh?
Megan, have you had some nice days to make up for the horrid one? And how is Lucas doing? There have been so many bugs going around. Hope everything works out with work and day care. :crossfingers:
Raels, :hello: thinking of you.
Speaking of bugs, Autie bought me half a small black one yesterday...I made her say 'aah' and there was a cute little bug leg on her tongue. When I told her she ate a bug, she got a little upset and started trying to spit it out. LOL Still hasn't stopped her eating things off the floor though.
She has developed a christmas tree obsession - has to run up to every one she sees and stand staring at it for a while before clapping and doing a little ducky dance in front of it and running away saying 'chi! chi!' At least she doesn't try to touch or take decorations off. She has two bottom eye teeth cutting and has been a bit of a monster with tantrums. So frustrating trying to tell if it's pain or just being cranky.
Well, this week we have dinner christmas eve at my brothers, christmas morning breakfast at mum's, christmas afternoon bbq here, and boxing day party at my sister's with all my extended family. I think I will definitely need to join a gym...or at least get a Wii fitness. I would like to be about 10kgs lighter, especially as we are no longer taking any sort of precautions contraceptive-wise. :o
Have a really happy, positive, food-filled, exciting-present-filled Christmas everyone!

Hi girls! I am jumping on very quickly to say hope everyone has a FANTASTIC christmas and wonderful new year!! Don't think I'll get on over the next few days or so. I might attempt to come back tonight to proper personals as DH will be at his xmas breakup. I should be wrapping presents now.. I haven't done any!
Sacha - it went really well! He did start to cry when I left, but we were both very brave and I think he had a ball. I called during the day and they texted me a couple of times. He ate all his lunch which i didn't think he would, and had a sleep (amazing considering where he was!). He was running around laughing when i picked him up so that was a great sign. They initailly had him in the babies room but changed him to the next room up and he was so much happier in there. He was a bit scared of the crawling babies apparently! So I feel good that I didn't tramatise him too much - although not even sure if he'll need to go back as after xmas/n year is over I'll be back to doing just my lovely one day a week - yay!!
Regarding the itti's - I got mine the other day and I love them. They are definiately trimmer under clothes. As much as I love my BBH's they are so bulky. I think I'll use my itti's for awake time and BB for sleeps and longer trips etc. The itti site is closed down as of tomorrow until the 6th of Jan so either order quick or I can tell you another site I got some off which apparently isn't taking a xmas break. The itti site is good because they do a trial pack - itti's come in 'sewn in' or 'snap in' - so the trial pack is one of each to see which you prefer for $49.95 I think?

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! Have a fantastic day with your little munchkins!!:kissing:

Hi everyone, hope you all had a happy and not-too-busy Christmas. Ours was a little too busy and affected Autie's sleep for a few days there ( I think the sugary treats she had here and there were to blame also) but last night she slept through which was great.
How did everyone's toddies go with the whole present thing this year? Autie was totally uninterested in hers, I had to open them all for her! LOL Even when I ripped them a bit to show her, she only cared about the ones she could see were balls. She does love her singing Upsy Daisy and umbrella too. So much for all the other stuff. I think the next present will be an enclosed trampoline as she had so much fun on her cousin's - no more junky little toys - what a waste!
Em, what a relief that it all went well at kindy! That's great news! And lovely of the staff to text you updates. Thanks for the IB info. I have ordered the trial pack but wasn't sure about sizes so I got one med and one large. What size is Tom in, and what is his weight? Do you have a preference for the snap-in or sewn-in? I actually really wanted just the normal AIOs but could only get the d'lish. I think I might give some that I saw on ebay a go too ( addiction anyone?) They are much cheaper and come in way cuter designs.
Has anyone else noticed a sudden 'growing-up' of your toddy? You know what I mean, more independent, noticing things, 'getting it' more? Not being especially clear am I? LOL Hope someone understands what I mean.
I'm after some healthy snack options that I might not have thought of, especially ones that aren't too messy - any ideas? I'm afraid I have the makings of a biscuit addict on my hands...
Well, that's all I've got. Hopefully you'll all jump back on soon so I don't have to talk about just us. :D

Hey, Merry Christmas everyone, well, merry Christmas for a couple of days ago - after all the build up, the day just goes so quickly.
Sasha - I'm afraid this post is all for you, you've given me lots to talk about. so here goes: I hear you on the sleeping. We spend Christmas & Boxing day at my grandmother's farm, the drive to get there takes about an hour & 1/2, which was great cos Liam slept the whole way, but once we got there, he just kept going & going, then had a rotten sleep on Christmas night. We stayed in a motel, so he was 3 feet away, so boxing day saw me walking the streets at 6.30am, cos someone wasn't going back to sleep, and his father was getting really cranky with him. We do big family stuff on Boxing day as well, which is great, but not with a 17mo, cos again, just kept going & going. Then, cos he's mental, even though he was totally exhausted, he didn't sleep in the way back in the car, so we were naughty parents, we decided that as he was still awake, we'd take him to see Christmas lights. Which he just loved. Spent the whole time going "gook, gook" (his word for look) & pointing at everything, so kind of fun.
Liam sounds like he was the same as Autie - presents, schmesents. Not particularly interested, except in the very cute, but girly doll pusher that my M&D gave to him, which he just loves, hasn't stopped pushing it for 3 days. And he was given a box set of miniature Night Garden books, which he likes to read. I think that we'll be doing the trampoline thing for his birthday, he loves the one at his cousins, I don't think I know any kids who don't enjoy them, for several years, which is a much better life than most Fisher Price stuff.
We've had an explosion of words here, which is so entertaining. Mostly "B" words, which I think is common, so we have ball, bird, bus, bubble, bye bye, but also hat, car, teddy & shoes. THere are others, I just can't rememberthem. It's so cute watching them work things out.
Snacks - I rely a lot on dates, & watermelon, which Liam loves, could eat either of these all day. And cheese slices, the Bega super slices are very popular. I'm not so good at snacks, rather unimaginative.
Well, I'm trying to get my pigsty of a house cleaned up, but struggling with motivation atm. I have been putting some of the old uninteresting toys into a box to pack away, but as soon as they go into the box someone decides that they are interesting....so I have toys from one end of the house to the other. My not too strenuous goal is to have it done by NYE, I like the symbolism of starting the year with a clean house.
Enough of my rambling, someone's waking up from his sleep, so I'd better go & do some motherly things I guess.
-
Argghh! I am stuffed! I have just cleaned the house - read that as, rearranged entire house to fit in new toys, and packed away the chrissy tree.
We had a full on couple of days - Tom was completely overwhealmed by the christmas experience. Too many people, too much noise, too many presents, too many lollies. We actually saved a lot of presents and opened them this morning and that was much better. He still didn't really understand why we were doing it but he was ripping open the boxes, saying "Wow wow". The best presents were swingset (DH cheated and set it up christmas eve morning so they spent the day on it), bike with a handle and a mini tool kit - just like his dad's. Everything else he pretty much couldn't give two hoots about. My favourite present was off BIL - complete boxed set of all the Thomas the Tank books. Very nice - but will possibly have to be put away for awhile (we have a book-ripper!).
Sleep wise - it went surprising well except Christmas day. He only had 40 minutes because we were at my in-laws and they are SO loud. We then stayed at my sister's until yesterday and he had about 2 and a half hours nap each day - super surprised because he was just in the porta-cot. He think he was exhausted from chasing their dog around though!
Sasha - Tom is about 10 or so kg's. Haven't weighed him for a while though. I'd say 10 or 11kg. He has suddenly gotten quite tall and thinned out. He is in large for the IB's. I got one of each (snap and sewn) and I much prefer the sewn in. It is basically a AIO with an extra bit (you'll see what I mean when they arrive!). The snap in - I just don't really get it . I have ordered a 6 pack of the sewn in - they fit very nicely under all his summer clothes.
Snacks.. I am a guilty biscuit giver too . I have vowed to be good now that christmas is over and try to offer a bit healthier options. DH brought me a muffin cookbook as one of my christmas presents and it's got some great options. I am also going to try to make up little fruit salads to leave out for him to pick at as he pleases.
BBL - friends have just turned up. Lucky the house is clean! Hope everyone had a great christmas xx

:cryinglaugh: Sounds like we are all doing the post-Christmas toy blitz! I've just packed up all Autie's baby toys and sorted out all her others into a somewhat organised stack of boxes in her cupboard to make room for all her new stuff. I'm going to head off to Ikea at some stage and try to get some more permanent storage for inside her cupboard, probably something with tubs and drawers of various sizes. Actually, I find a weird joy in organising chaos so I'm quite looking forward to it.
Em, sounds like I will have to get the large too. Autie is about the same weight as Tom, though most of it is in her pot belly so maybe a medium will be ok. What kind of liners do you use? I have been using some Coles brand ones but they tend to end up being bum-munched if you know what I mean LOL I am thinking some cloth ones would be better. Muffins are a good idea, I just need to get off my butt and get busy in the kitchen. I like the idea of an eat-as-you-please fruit salad but I don't think it would be appealing for long in the weather we're having. Had a laugh at Tom's 'wow's. I said it to Autie when we first put the tree lights on and now whenever I turn them on, she looks at me and says 'wwwwwwow!' You are quick off the mark getting your tree down! Think ours might stay up another couple of weeks....or so....
Ooh Jan, I love a post that's all for me! LOL On the sleeping, we have had two nights of all night through! Whoo hoo! I keep telling myself not to get excited but secretly I'm hoping that it's a new routine here to stay. We're also getting 2-3hrs during the day.
New words are coming out here too, though we don't yet have 'gook' - how cute is that?! Mostly she gets the first syllable of words but strangely, we have 'shower' quite clearly - go figure. Autie got a stroller too, and like Liam, hasn't stopped pushing it for days! She was given a Baby Alive with it (from her nana) but that usually gets tossed out in favour of Upsy Daisy getting a ride. I think I will look into some cheese slices. Usually I give her grated cheese but that's way too messy for on-the-go. I think the Bega ones are quite good quality aren't they - not fake cheese?
I took advantage of Deals Direct's free shipping and bought Autie a potty - one of those ones that you can use as a step stool and toilet seat as well. I don't think she's quite ready yet (lucky, since I've just spent money on MCNs) but it's a little exciting to think about...:o
Well, I guess we are officially :ttc: though with Dan taking a week off for Christmas, his roster now has him away for the all-important time of the month  so I'm guessing it might take a while. Anyone else planning on baby-making this year?
-
Sacha - I had to take the tree down - I was sick of Tom coming into me with his cricket bat in one hand, and a smashed christmas decoration in the other hand, saying "Uh oh".
How exciting on the TTC! No news here on that front. I'll let you do it first before I brave it again!
All these new toys and Tom is in here with the box of toys I have packed up for the garage, having so much fun..
-
what is it with the fascination with retired toys. I've also been sorting all the old toys away, and that's the only box that Liam wants to play with. He hasn't touched anything that I've put in it for months, and all of a sudden.
Em - very sensible spreading his presents out over a couple of days. Liam opened all of his, but I'm thinking I might just put some away again, so that when we hit boredom times I've got something new to bring out for him. I'm definitely storing all his beautiful books away for the time being, as he's become obsessed with the Night Garden books that he was given, I must have read one of them 50000 times already since Christmas day. It's very sad, cos I bought him some gorgeous books, which I'm dying to read to him, but he's just not interested.
Sasha - woo hoo for the TTC. I'd love to be starting the process again, but have kind of decided that I'd rather not be in a maternity wedding dress, so will hold of for a few months more, maybe start in June, which means I won't be too far along in August if it happens, it will just impact what I can drink on the day.
gotta go, Liam's about to get out of the bath, which means the end of my computer time.
-
Yay Jan on the planning of TTC. You don't get to drink on your wedding day anyway - everytime you go to have a sip, you get interupted. I had many glasses of wine littered around the reception place that only had one or two sips taken. I probably would not of even had a full glass :)
