Hmm, bit hard to remember what was going on in the last thread...
Toddlers hitting - I've had at least one in every class of toddies I've ever had (or a biter) Sometimes it's just because it gets an interesting reaction from a) person being hit, b)mum/dad/teacher. Kind of like an experiment in cause and effect LOL It's very frustrating though (Autie's cousin, 23m, is currently doing this to Autie a lot) It's very hard to stop them usually. A quick bottom smack for shock value can sometimes work (not that I ever did that to kids I cared for) but understandably, many people don't want to follow that path so the next best thing is silent removal to a place where they get no attention whatsoever (cot, room, highchair) and ignore for about 2mins at this age. Honestly, it's just a hard age and you might just have to stay close until they outgrow it.
Megan, must be tricky living with others. Do you have your own space? Just keep thinking about the wonderful new house you'll have soon!
Jas, are you pregnant? Whoohoo! Crap, my memory sucks! I hope it's you - if not, I apologize to all involved.
Em, thanks for asking after us.
Oh, I give up. My memory is sooooo bad. Can we all do a quick catch up on our lives to get this new thread going?
For us: We have entered the tantrum stage and Autie is ever so good at making them last whole car trips She's over her chest infection during which we found she is allergic to penicillen. Loves climbing and running free in shopping centres. Six and half teeth. Not many words that anyone else can understand. Eating and sleeping is up and down but generally ok. Same-same for us family wise except just found out my mum has cancer in her neck and has to be removed this week, then radiation. That's a bit crap of course but trying to stay positive. Autie has graduated to the next swimming class. Think that's about it for us. We don't live a thrilling life obviously LOL
Congrats to all that are expecting again!! Hope all is well
I like the starting over, as I have missed HEAPS, quick recap would be great!
Re Hitting: Olivia has been doing this for sometime now and she doesn't stop when I say No, so I may try just putting her in a room by herself for a bit, although she tends to like her own space, so would else could I try??
Recap on us: Olivia is STILL NOT WALKIN!!! 15 months today and I really want her to now as the older she gets. She is walking more around furniture, and on us, she will walk around us to get to the next bit. She often stands but not for long. She says heaps of words, so maybe the saying either a walker or a talker is true as she doesn't shut up!! She is terrific though, she has 7 teeth now, great sleeper, I have her down to 1 sleep a day and she has worked into that perfectly....she even sleeps in till 8:30am, yesterday morning was 9:45!!!
We are currently in the process of selling the house, photos are being taken on Friday night and then its all systems go, can't wait!! We are moving closer to DH work, family and friends, not that we were far away just hated travelling on the freeway.
Well hope all is well, will try and be back tomorrow.
Sacha, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, I hope the op goes well and she makes for a speedy recovery soon. And congrats to Autie on her graduation at swimming. I remember when we has Charlize is swimming lessons, we would very proud of her when she moved up a class. Oh and the tantrums, Jack is not to bad, he is a very easy go lucky little being but his sister on the other hand, is a handful. We struggle everyday to keep her strong personality in toe, she is very strong willed and doesn't like to not get her own way. But we keep telling ourselves just perserver (sp?) and she will finally accept who is boss. I'm slowly just now starting to see improvement (well some days). But I guess it's a good sign, they will grow up to be strong women.
Lis, great to hear from you. It's been very quiet in here lately, so you shouldn't have to do much reading. Olivia sounds like a great sleeper. What time is she going down at night? Jack is normally up by 7am, but he is down by 6:36 normally, and this suits our routine. But some days I would die for a 8:30 sleep in. Good luck with selling your house. Have you already found a new one? Exciting times.
Us, well we have a very busy few weeks coming up. Have DH family coming this weekend. I have a hens night the following weekend, a cruise the weekend after that, and then a wedding the weekend after that. But it gives me something to look forward to. Oh and I only have 1 more kg to loose until I'm at my goal weight. That's neally 5kg in 4 weeks. I'm so stoked. My babies are sick atm, but I'm hopeful it's going to pass over quickly this time. PLEASE!!!!!!! Other than that not much happening.
