HAPPY BIRTHDAY EM Hope you have a fantastic day..

OMG i really need to stop watching all the vision on the telly bout the fires but i just cant seem to turn away from it.. Its just sooooo devestating the amount of lives lost and property...
My heart goesout to EVRYONE that has been affected by it..

My grandparents are fine.. They finalkly got out of glenburn at about 730pm sunday night after emergancy crews tried all day to get to them police knocked on the door and said cum now or you will never get out so my grand parents folloed the police out, Their Neighbour's decided to stay and try and save the house now we dont know if they are ok after the fire went back thro their area late sunday night..
The kids, My mum and Lil Brother and i are heading to Melb on saturday to see what we can do, We are gunna try n get up to my grand parents place on Sunday so we can go thro the ashes and see if there is anythign left They did go there before they left but the house was still burning so they couldnt go thro anything...
One thing is safe and that was my grand fathers hotted up HZ Ute it was in the car port that is infront of the garage and next to the house ,The carport is gone the house is gone the ground right around the ute is burnt but yet the Ute was untouched the paint has even blistered from the heat its unbelieveable..... My pa even started it and drove it into the garage there is nothing wrong with it

My nan is now only getting her head around everything and keeps thinking of the lil things that she has lost...

    Now on a happier note...

Bayleigh weighs in at a HUGE (LOL) 9.4 Kilo at his 18mth check in Health nurse told me i need to fatten him up Not sure how i can feed him anymore food then i already feed him he eats all day....
He's 78.5cm long.. The poor kid has no chance of being tall both his father and i are shortys lol
He is now up to 6 teeth up the top and 2 down the bottom but i checked his mouth just before and he has another 4 that have cut thro in the last few days LOL I sat down and wrote down all his words he is is saying and its at 72.. he is now putting 2-3-4 words together only a handfull of times hes put 4 words together but he has shown he can... He now undresses himself when its bath time, Still only done a few wee's on the potty. But he now knows when he is doing a wee as he will always hold his nappy and when he does a poo he cums up to you and point to him bum and waves his hand infront of his nose and says poo wee.. Its really cute LOL

Well i have read thro a lil but i wont do personals just yet, I will come back this arvo and do them as im about to take bayleigh to the park now that the weather is cooler.. We are now in pantys and jumpers kind of hard to believe that just 5 days ago we had 13 days straight of 40+ ...

Have a great day and i will comeback

Thanks for my msg's girls! You are all so lovely!

The day hasn't been overly exciting so far.. We don't do presents in the morning - DH leaves for work at 6.45am and apparently I am not a morning person so we do them at night time. I sang happy birthday to myself this morning for Tom - he thinks it's for him and goes all coy, head tucked into him shoulder like "For me? Why thankyou, aren't I special". We had T's first swimming lesson this morning - didn't go overly well . We were naturally running late so I kind of got there, stripped him off, got in the pool and started the lesson a minute later, so he was a bit shell shocked and cried through most of the activities. We hung around after the lesson and he was much better, so I think next week I'll get there early and ease him into it!

Sarah - I am the same as you. I can't turn off the telly. I was watching the news last night and DH could hear me sobbing from the bedroom. He came in to give me a cuddle, and I went a bit pyscho because of the intrusive news coverage. Clearly not his fault but I didn't have a channel 9 reporter in front of me to yell at about getting into people's faces while they are shell shocked and grieving. It's amazing that your nan and pa survived. Just amazing. It must of been so scary for them.
My sister has contacted the RedCross to offer their spare rooms if they are needed and my other sister is donating blood, so I think I might go with her. I have never done it before but can't be that bad - I think I conquered my fear of needles when I was pregnant. Every other week was another needle. We have donated money but I would like to donate some baby things too. Coles is having a day on Friday where they will be donating all the profits to the fund, so I think I might go in and buy some formula and nappies and wipes etc and donate them to the R/Cross. It is just horrible.
Was your MCHN serious when she said the fatten up Bailey? If he's eating well, maybe he's just going to be a lean kid. He sounds like a ball of energy anyway. I should write doen Tom's words - the latest is Truck.. which we all know doesn't come out with a T, he says it with a F.. Or should I say screams it.

Jan - how's Liam feeling now? Are you enjoying your job?

Nicky - poor you with your morning sickness. I completely understand. Being pg for me was torture sometimes, and you try so hard to enjoy it. Poor thing. Did you hear from Becc at all?
I don't know if you know this but you have gotten me and Sacha addicted to IttiBitti's.. I love them!

Emma - Hi! Hope you and Tayah are well. Does she have her own Facebook page?? How cute. Do you have one? I'll add you if you do.

Lis - how's everything going on your street?

Hello hello Megan... Are you out there?? How's everything going?

Happy Birthday Em, hope you've had a lovely day. LOL at T being all coy when you sang Happy Birthday, very cute.

I am thinking of putting my child onto ebay. He's being feral atm. He hasn't slept more than 3 consecutive hours since Saturday night, and wants to BF all the time, it's like having a newborn again, and it's exhausting. In fact I should probably put him on freecycle, cos I'd feel guilty getting money for him, - if I freecycle then maybe I'd get something good in exchange. He was fast asleep on me 30 minutes ago, but as soon as I put him into his cot, eyes open wide & the screaming begins. Now he's just standing up & rattling the cot like it's a cage. Although he isn't screaming so that's a good thing I guess.

Sorry, bit me me me tonight, I'm just too tired to put much effort in.

Although Sarah - that's great news to hear that your grandparents are okay. Really awful that they've lost nearly everything, but fantastic that they themselves are okay.

Em, I hope your O.K. You made me cry with singing Happy bday to TOm. What did you get of DH???

We are all well. DH did his V8 car thing yesterday, he loved it. We have his family arriving tomorrow, and friday and saturday for his BBQ party sat night. Was only meant to be family but now 30 are coming, arrhhhh. As long as he has a relaxing day, I don't care. he is off on a boy night tonight. They played paintball today, drinking wayyyyyyyyyyyy to much tonight, fishing or golf tomorrow. His mum won't be impressed if he comes home drunk. She hates drinking, which won't work in my favour sat night, as I like a drink or 2 sometimes as well. I hope she offers to watch kids at night so I can go out with DH as well. They will be asleep of course, but I bet she won't have a bar of it.

Anyway, must be off, got home from TAFE and wasn't tired but going to crash now.

    Talk soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EM!! Hope you get spoilt!!!

Just a quick one from me, have to do dinner soon for Livvie and DH then off to dinner and a movie with the gals, can't wait!

Sarah - I am so glad that your grandparents are ok, and as my DH will say he is glad the Holden is ok too - only a holden That would have been so scary for them, and for the family!!!

I am the same, I try not to watch the TV but something about it draws me to it, like I need to feel the same loss and grieve the same as everyone else and can only do that if I see it? Does that makes sense?

DH's grandad passed away last night, very sad but it was expected. He had been in hospital for 3 weeks and when he first went in they told us only a few days but he lasted weeks later! He was 92.

Sorry so short, must run and get ready before my night out (so excited to be getting out for awhile)

Hi everyone, just a quick one from me as Autie has pulled two nights of 40min sleep intervals. She is even doing it during the day so I can't catch up much then either. Plus weird, squealy behaviour that just isn't her. AND I've been getting no love. I actually felt like she didn't like me today.

Hugs Jan. I hear you! Has Liam settled a bit now? Sleeping better? Maybe there's something going around... How is your job going? Are you enjoying it?

Sarah, I hope you manage to find at least SOMEthing for your Nan to keep. I wouldn't worry too much about Bayleigh's weight either. Takes all kinds. As long as he's happy and healthy.

Mel, hope everything goes well for the BBQ and you get those drinks in! How is TAFE going? I assume it's the same course you are doing? You haven't spoken of it in so long.

Em, I'm not a morning person either. Even Boo knows to give me a bit of space for the first ten minutes. LOL Next year I'll ring and sing 'happy birthday' for you so you dont' have to do it yourself! You may not like it, but I'll do it anyway. LOL

Nicky, it's true. I love IB. What are you going to use on the new bubba?

Lis, hope you enjoyed your girls' night. I haven't had one of those in, oh, say 19m - at least!

Raels, it is cute when they start to talk more isn't it? Mind you, Autie is not a great talker at all. She has a lot of words, but isn't putting any together and they aren't so clear. I'm yet to get a 'mummy' out of her She does say 'truck' right though (neh, neh Em) LOL Did you get onto Sharkey's? I think I might be giving them a call soon.

Megan, where are you?? Hope everything is ok.

That's all, I'm outta here. It's been two hours since Autie went to bed and I really should've taken advantage of it.

Sacha - I'm hearing you on the sleeping issues. Liam has just about broken me this week. Which is why I'm here at 6am in the frickin morning.

I won't bore you with all the details, cept to say that after the gastro, Liam developed a cold, which he has kindly shared with me. And we've not had more than 3 hours of consecutive sleep now since Saturday, and I've probably hit the wall with tiredness. Anyway, after a massive screaming match through in the middle of last night, DF & I finally get back to bed, when DF says he thinks we should try phenergan (sp??) to help teach Liam to sleep, because he's over everything else. So we had a frosty discussion about it, because I'm really against the idea of using drugs to teach L to sleep, especially as he's sick this week, so that's probably got a lot to do with the problem. In fairness, I don't actually know much at all about phenergan, other than we joked about it in antenatal classes as a way to put babies to sleep. But I just think it doesn't fix the cause, and, well, I just hate the idea. What do you guys think, am I over-reacting to be so anti-it? It's just tipped me over the edge into bawling-ness, I'm so angry with DF for wanting to do it, particularly in the light of the fact that until Christmas, he has rarely got of his bum to do anything in the way of helping out overnight. And because until this week, I was feeling that we were getting somewhere with the sleeping. Sure, we were still being woken up, but he'd really stopped wanting feeds, and just wanted one of us to sit next to his cot while he went back to sleep. Currently he's back to wanting feeds all the time, and whilst I'm happy to do this because of the cold, it worries me that I'll end up keeping on doing it, which just isn't nice for me, cos I, too, like my sleep, and function best when I get at least 8 hours.

Sorry for the whinge, if anyone knows anything about this phenergan stuff (good/bad, but preferably bad, I like to win arguments occasionally), that would be great.

Will bbl to do personals, have to start getting ready for work now. Soooo happy about that (uses a tissue to wipe up the sarcasm)

    xxx to everyone

Jan - just a quick one. Poor you on the sleeping. I msged my sister who works at a pharmacy and she spoke to the pharmacist about phenergan. NOT recommended for children under 2, and can make them so drowsy they can stop breathing. So definiately not good. It's also not a long term thing and can actually stuff up sleeping even worse if the child becomes reliant on it. I take it for my alergies, I assume there is a adult form and a kids one, but the nights I take it, it makes me super drowsy and sleep so deeply I don't even dream, but I wake up feeling groggy and crap. She suggested the herbal forms like the Brauers but being natural you don't have instant results. Good luck you poor thing.

Will try to bbl, my keyboard hasn't worked since Tuesday so I have a million emails and still haven't eaten tea. Hungry hungry! Hope everyone is well xx

Jan, I'm sorry you're having such a hard time right now. I, too, am the only one who gets up during the night, so I know how all those trips in and out of bed can really get to you and wear you down.
I think Em's advice from the pharmacist should be enough for you to win the phenergan war, but that's probably not much consolation right now.
I know you're really enjoying the BF, and I think it's so great that you have been able to keep it up, but I well remember the drain of the night time comfort feeds, and I will just mention that we had a dramatic improvement when I did the nasty and cut them completely. I introduced one, small, middle-of-the-night cow milk bottle which Autie still has now (and I know many would disagree with that) but, apart from the odd phase (like the last couple of days -which has settled down now) she is sleeping ten thousand time better. I am definitely not saying you should do what I did, but if you are desperate, it's just another option to consider. You should definitely do what you are comfortable with, of course.
Is Liam maybe feeling a little out of whack due to you going back to work maybe? It's such a hard job being a mum! Sending you and Liam lots of sleepy vibes tonight.

Sorry I haven't been in for a while, been super busy with "stuff".
It has taken me about half an hour to get on here tonight and now that I finally have I'm too tired and brain dead to post anything worth reading.....so, I'll be back tomorrow.

no no no no no - I wrote a big (although whingey) post last night & it's not here!!!! We're still having big sleep issues, which is probably why I didn't notice, cos I'm just completely brain drained. Anyway, can't do anything about it, cos I'm at work & this is very naughty of me to be here, it's just that I'm a bit stuck atm, and waiting for people to be less busy so I can ask them questions. Will be back tonight...

    alrightey then.

Em - I could kiss you for the phenergan info, although if there's too many more nights of screaming the house down I could maybe weaken...

Sacha - I had mostly got him down to a morning & a night feed before bed, but with teething then being sick I sort of gave in, although we're re-instigating the no overnight feed rule again now. Just might take a couple more nights for it to kick in again, which sucks for DF cos he's the one who has to go in to settle & then has to get up in the morning to go to work. At least I get a couple of days "off" during the week. I was really mad at him the other morning, but if I'm honest he's really very good. And currently much better at getting Liam to sleep than I am.

Mel - glad to hear that your DH had a great bday, and nice that you got a willing babysitter so that you could get out for a night with him. Your kids really are so gorgeous. Charlize is a bit of a mini-you I reckon.

And there he goes again- I swear that everytime he nods off, there's an outside noise that startles him & wakes him up. I feel like I've lost all idea about being a parent, cos I just cannot work out this sleeping rubbish, it's definitely been the worst 2 weeks with him ever.

Oh Jan you poor thing. I'm sorry his sleeping patterns haven't gone back to normal yet. I don't know if someone has suggested this before but have you tried a night light. It might be he is a little affraid of being alone in the dark. We started using one for Charlize when she started to night wake, and it worked. Sorry though if you've already mentioned you have tried it.

Hoping this will work - BB keeps dying on me today.

Jan - I'm praying for you that the sleeping improves! And if you do feel like you need to use the Phenergan, do it. As long as you don't use it all the time, then he'll get addicted and never sleep . Seriously though, it is an option and if you do use, don't feel like we would think you're doing the wrong thing IYKWIM. I love my sleep very much. I think you'd probably have to go to the doctor to get a script for it though if you did, as they won't even give out things for under 2's now. I tried to get cold medicine for T the other day and could only get it if I had a doctors script so I just lathered him up with Vicks instead.
Do you think the non-sleeping might be a comfort thing? Does he have a cuddle blanket or toy? T went through a waking up stage and one of the girls from mum's group suggested a little blanket. He now has one that he is obsessed with - Taggie, it's a small piece of felt with little ribbon tags sewn around it (hence the name) and he loves it. As long as he has taggie, he'll sleep anyway. We also have a night light thing - it one of the ones that plays a 5/10minute tune and a little light show on the ceiling. If he wakes in the night, we tend to put that on and it soothes him back to sleep. Or how about a soft radio or lullaby cd to block out outside noises? TOm has always slept with the radio on, since birth because DH gets up early for work and I am a bit of bang and crasher at the best of times. Sorry if this is stuff you've tried, like Mel I'm just throwing out random suggestions!

Now - I have a question. For those that have the kidlets in a bed or going into a bed - did you start with a toddler bed or straight into a normal bed? We are going to get T a bed for his 2nd birthday and I'd like to look around soon and possibly layby something but not sure if I really need a toddler bed. Let me know what you've got!

Ummmmm trying to think of stuff for Sacha . Anyone been watching the new tv shows? I am slightly obsessed with Ladette to Lady and Farmer wants a Wife. I am trying to make my little sister apply for the next season of LTL. She is in no way a Ladette but surely she could pretend? She is just ignoring my suggestions at this stage..

Ok - hope everyone is well. Another question - if you have a stroller, what brand is it and how do you like it? I am on the big stroller hunt - I want a fairly compact one to save room in the back of the car and possibly the ability to lay it back. Sacha can't believe I've survived this long without one..

Em - good question about the stroller. We too, have survived without one, but every now & again I look longingly at them, cos they're so much lighter, and they fit through a coles checkout aisle, which can't be said for my pram. The bed thing is also interesting, although I think that we're a long way away from making that move, Liam tosses & turns too much, no way he'd keep snug under a doona yet.

And thank you everyone for letting me whinge lately. Your suggestions are helpful, we'd actually been thinking about the night light thing, cos often he stirs/wakes when we turn off the tv & lounge light, so might be something in that. Small miracle tonight - he went into his cot and just rolled over & went to sleep. Would have done a dance, but that probably wouldn't have kept him asleep . And I've put in an emergency call to my Mum (which will be very good for relations), to come and help me tomorrow, just cos I'm still feeling pretty crook & Liam's not quite right either. He's had a massive flare up of nappy rash again, and we've still been using Daktarin, so obviously something isn't right. And he lost his voice today, it's very funny hearing him speak with this squeaky raspy little sound. Don't think it's hurting him, but again, symptom of something not right.

Anyway, going to take myself off to my bed, see if I can get a couple of extra hours of relaxation.

Sacha - I'm still looking for stuff
