Hi, KL - glad you could sneak some time on BB!
My dad has brought round dinner that my mum cooked - it's so yum. She's headed back to the country tomorrowAs much as she drives me nuts, I do miss her from time to time (and in between times I am glad for the distance, keeps our relationship on a more even keel!).
Back to my roast pork and taters...
mmmm food.. i wish i knew how to cook..
when is everyone going to start introducing solids/?? the nurse told us to start at 4 months but no later than 6 months - so we decided to start at 5 months.. i cant wait to see her reaction, because at the moment she puts EVERYTHING in her mouth , we got this big frog for Aneta , i left it next to her for a second while i went to get a drink , i come back and half the frog is being eaten by Aneta, she eats bibs and her clothes too.... but her hands taste the best ( apparantly )
Bath - does Niall actually like the bee?? Aneta has only become interested in it now... ( and probably because she thinks it will taste nice )
does anyone have any suggestions on tummy time? Aneta HATES it... for a moment she will hold her head up and then she gives up and starts screaming ( not crying , just a scream every now and then to let us know she's not happy )... I really want her to spend more time on her tummy but i hate seeing her so upset about it..
Enigma- have you tried giving her tummy time on your lap. I often sit on the couch with Tori laying on her tummy across my legs, she seems to like it. As for solids we will probably start to introduce sometime between 5-6 months.I know that the WHO (world health organisation) suggests 6 months, but I cant see what a difference a few weeks here or there will make!
Solids - I'm going to try to get to the 6 months exclusive BFing according to ABA recommendations. I reckon I got plenty to go for 16 months exclusive feeding!
Hi Ali![]()
Aneta doesnt mind tummy time on soft surfaces ( couch, bed, me )... but the CHCN told us that if we want it to be effective we have to put her on a hard surface...
IK ... 16mths will fly as fast as these last 3mths have![]()
Bath, Kathryn's not sue until (if my memory serves me right) Nov 9. I think she was about 34 weeks...
I know what you guys mean about time flying, i cant believe my oldest is almost 3 1/2!! and my blonde angel (declan) is 18 months!! And Anneliese is 17 weeks old!! Time's flying, and i want it to slow down, as im not having any more...
Well, my holiday is almost over, Sunday i head home. Im loving Perth weather, i forgot how good it is over here... back to freezing my butt off next week...
So when are we having a meet?? I need to escape my crap at home when i get back, anyone wanna have a coffee??
Last edited by simone; September 29th, 2006 at 11:25 PM. : adding on...
Simone, we haven't had a meet up yet, and I'm pretty sure Nickers was ready for a date next week, so sounds good! Especially if we can help you with a bit of escapism for a bit
Time is flying all too well. For those of you who received my email with the sculptures - did the one with the newborn not rip your heart out and make you look at your baby...only to realise that looking at them now it was hard to imagine them that little and brand new??? Such a sap...
Off to bed...
Simone i noticed your mood is/was drunk... cheers to that... its DH turn to get up to Aneta in the morning so im having a few too many.... which is why im going to bed now , in case i write something stupid
Simone: the second week in October would be good for a meetup... I've got Wade's birthday party to organise (I haven't even started and EVERYONE has accepted the invitation! OMG what am I going to do with 30 people next Sat!)and could you PM with your email addy? I don't have it on the Junies email list (which i'll send you a copy of when I get yours).
I wrote a loooong post this morning but Wade came along and pressed the escape keytook me a while to get over that... 1...2...3...4.. hehe.
DH and DD at Little Athletics but when they get home Verity and I are going to the Show!
Enigma: Niall is eaily pleased so yes, he likes that bee... but his fist is number one as well as blanket tops which he also shoves into his mouth.
Tummy time: I don't have any strategies because all my kids love it. Keep letting your little ones have a go because soon they will develop the strength to start slithering forward... or backwards... and then the whole wide world of mobility begins!
Wade has misplaced his beloved Wiggles DVD... I swear we have played it at least 100 times.
I'm not overly excited about the grand final... hope everyone else is so the trains and show aren't crowded!
oh well.... s'pose i'd better think about getting dressed...
hi all,
Tummy Time: Ally hates it too - that is OK, in the baby love book it says it is not that important, however I like Amanda's idea of "lap time"...
IK- I am going for exculsive BF for 6.5 months (as we will be on vacation at 6 months and am not going to worry about food till we get back).. I would love to feed for ever too, but think I will only go for 12 months as I want 12 months off then try for baby number 2.
Nickers - I always think of you as I change Ally - she poops 7 times a day (OK, mabye only 4) and I'm jealous that you only have to clean up one poop a week (OK, mabye 4 poops in one day once a week). I swear that is one of the main reasons I use cloth as I have to change her so often.
edit:
Baths - 30 people is a LOT, are you going to feed them? I am just starting to arrange Ally's "blessing", food wise, it is hard as it will be 35 degree and there is not a lot of room in the fridge for food plus cold drinks.... I'm thinking of just making some fritata's and salad the night before, have asking DH to cook up some chicken wings and drumsticks on the BBQ for the kids - they are normally running around so much they are not very hungry. Are you going to make a cake or buy one? I think I'm going to cheet and buy a cake, too hard for me to make it at my Mum's house, you need to know your own oven.
ME: Well, the hammock dream is over. Ally has cotten'on to the fact that hammock means sleeptime and she is not having a bar of it.. She now screams when I put her in. I'm happy that she is learning stuff but dam, life without a hammock up my sleeve is HARD. I am not used to a crying baby... Now she needs either the baby carrier or the boob to fall asleep, then I transfer her to the bassinet or hammock. The dream is over... Boo Hoo

hey everyone...
Last night i went thru 1/2 a bottle of wiine, and im going out with my sister tonight, so finished that bottle already and starting on UDL's now... i havent haad much to drink in a long time, its nice not to have 3 lil people depending on my until tomorroe morn (when ill wake up wih a rotten hangover and have to bathe them, feed them etc etc...)
Whenever's fine for a meetup.
I wont be online for a few days, i fly back to melb tomorrow night, and ill get into tulla at 4am... why did i pick that flight? oh and
GO THE EAGLES!!!! I was so happy when i saw them win today!!! *YAY* *YAY*
Simone, glad you had a nice time in Perth, I think the girls have said the weather in Melbourne has not been too bad..I was dissapointed in the Egals win, as I was wearing the red and the white, (as was Ally) but I do think they played better on the day.
Where is everyone else? Nickers, Ally pooped in the bath last night (OMG, so gross) and I though Nixon would never do this!
Enigma - I will try to introduce solids at 4 months. Babies nutritional needs change at 6 months and breastmilk alone isn't sufficient after this. I have heard of babies who have had anaemia because they haven't had enough iron. When you introduce solids you only offer one food at a time with a day or two in between (to ensure no allegies) and if they don't take to the food it well, it could be weeks b4 they are meeting their requirements. Please note this is not written to offend anyone but just my opinion on this issue. Both my other boys had solids at 4 months with no issues. If I had a history of food allergies I would probably reconsider this.
Ceecee - Nathan poops at nearly every feed and he has in the bath too.
