I was doing a bit of posting on The Age website a few weeks ago in relation to boob jobs. I decided that thoughts about boobs and boob jobs are driven by appealing to male values, no matter how much women say 'it's for me'. I don't buy the 'it's for me' thing. If it weren't for appealing to men, boobs wouldn't appear in advertising NEARLY as much as they do, and consequently making 'small' women feel self-conscious about their figures. I reckon that if you pare back the argument you would find that without the factor of appealing to men somewhere along the line, women wouldn't care what their own boobs looked like! Put it this way, back in the 20's, small boobs were IN - there was merchandise to flatten bigger boobs! If only more men were like DP, who actually prizes a slim waist, the pig!
