Maya - you should be proud of DP, getting Oscar to sleep is a great first step. Baby steps, baby steps! At least you are looking out for your dad. It probably a good idea to talk to his psychiatrist rather than the GP (the psychiatrist would pass on any info to the GP anyway), at least the psychiatrist is the one seeing him and would be good to get a family perspective on how is he going. I am sure some patients "fudge" the truth a bit. Maybe your mum needs to attend a session too so she can fully understand where he is coming from. Support and understanding is what he needs and is certainly what you are giving him. Stay positive. BTW, glad exit interview went well, at least thats over and done with.

Rory - I like the sound of your competition! Keep us posted how you are going, we can be your support team lol!!! Although I am not very good at helping people NOT spend!

Bath - thought tickets might be expensive, they usually are when they have it at Rod Laver Arena. Silly that kids pay same as adults.
most cafe yoyos crumble apart when this is attempted, rendering them inferior - so true. I don't think anyone knows how to make them properly (except you!) or they are old and stale. Thanks for the tip about the ghee, will keep my eyes open for it. I should be able to get some at the indian shops in Clayton (they are everywhere!). I love cooking Indian and it would give it that more authentic taste.

Mental illness is something that I never knew much about and didn't think I needed to. Now I work with many psychiatrists and psychologists, I have a new found understanding of it all. I think unless you are confronted with it, you don't want to know about it. Many of the patients here look just like anyone else, normal people who could be someones mum, dad, sister or brother. I also have such admiration for those professionals who want to help these people. Most of the courses I look after are in the mental health field and particularly one for teachers in primary school dealing with mental issues with children. Its so sad to hear how bad this problem is and not just in Victoria. Thankfully, we all love and nuture our children, something that some of these kids never get to experience.

    Enough sad talk now.

Work is going well today, keeping me busy. Just trying to decide if I should eat the jam donut I have sitting on my desk (it keeps staring at me!!!!).

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hiya Mel Are you working tomorrow? If not you're more then welcome to come over too... I'd love another critical appraisal of the yoyos... you and Rory could be CWA baking judges LOL

Maya: i forgot to say (self absorbed me!) how wonderful that your DP managed to settle Oscar. Have you taken the essential "man sleeping with baby on chest" piccy yet? Always very cute

ETA: Hiya Jess, I can see you a lurking LOL how's things?

    Hello lovely ladies,
I am home from work today with Tori as she has Gastro and has been sick since sat. She is on the mend but we were up from about 12ishlast night till 3:30 so I thought it was best for both of us that I stay home and get her checked by the Dr. He says it is just gastro but can take up to a week to pass.

MMMMMMMM Bath, everytime I come in here and read about what you have just cooked I want to eat (must be a pregnancy thing) I might make use of my extra day at home to get some baking done. I think it is a bit steep for adults and children to pay the same price for kids show, coz its not like the kids are going to take themselves is it?

Maya- Glad to hear that DH was able to settle Oscar to sleep, like you said baby steps are the best way to go. I dont think there is anything more heartwarming than watching daddies and babies asleep together.

Rory- I actualley bought an Ergo on the weekend from the PCB expo, got it for $20 off and didnt have to pay postage so I was happy about that.

Hiya- Mel did the Jam donut win? I hate it when they stare at you like that!

Nic- I hope that you guys are settled into your new place. Has the sale on your Melb house gone through yet?
I am a bit annoyed because I found out yesterday that I cant start my Mat Leave untill 34 weeks as that is Ed Dept policy, you can go on leave early but it has to be sick leave with a Dr. cert or unpaid leave. It is just a PITA becase it means that after the holidays I have to go back for 4 weeks. Oh well such is life, maybe it will make the time pass quicker.

Big waves and hugs to everyone, I had better go and get on with baking as Tori has been asleep for 3 hours already so she is bound to stir very soon.

Well we're back from my mum's, it was a great weekend and was quite relaxing, Cody is walking so much now which is great but also a little sad (cos he's not as dependant on me) ah well natural progression I suppose.

The pschic was brilliant, she said that DH would have two job offers in about 8 weeks, she also did past lives as well and it was interesting that the boys souls and mine had all been together before and it explained some of the dynamics better as well. She also told me when I would be pg again and a lot of other really interesting stuff, I loved it.

Maya glad to hear that DP is stepping back up into his fatherly duties, I know that my DH doesn't always do what he should, but I also give him a push in the right direction and he goes back to the way things should be.

Bath those yo-yo's sound delisous wish I could be down there to try one .

Ali I hope that Tori is better soon, what a bummer that you have to go back to work for 4 weeks after the holidays, hopefully it will go quick.

Well for the last few days we've been having some much needed rain and it has been wonderful, the grass is greening up the air smells fresh, just a wonderful feeling. Better go for now.

    hugs xoxo

    Hi All,

Ali- what a bummer about your maternity leave. and that u have to go back for 4 weeks after the holidays. Our house settles on the 14th Sept so look forward to that date, then between us finding something else we will have no mortgage yay!!

finally (if it all worked properly) internet should be set up at home tonight. im at work today and gotta buy a new mouse as the 2 we have are both broken! (one broke when Nixon smacked it on the ground)

Jules- the christening sounds lovely, glad it was a nice day. And look at you Miss Diva out till 3am lol! well done must have been a great night. also lol at your late night post, go back and read it today i had to read through it a few times to understand what u wrote hehe!

Amanda- ohhh glad ur clarvoyant meet went well! could she see a little pink bundle up next?!

my sister is minding Nixon today cause parents are away, so had to drop him off over there b4 work. Made me realise how lucky we are that we dont have to do that every week its a big deal getting yourself ready as well as a little one! and i already had his bag packed the night b4.....

Bath - bugger, wish I had of read your post earlier! Yo yo's would have been yummy this morning. I don't work on Wednesday's so count me in next time you are cooking up some treats.

Ali - how is Tori, hope the gastro bug has passed. I did eat the donut and ended up with sugar all over my keyboard, not good!

Amanda - good to see you back. Psychic sounded interesting, esp about the you and boys souls, freaky! How did you cope with the battering winds last night? I have a GF in Coorparoo and we were chatting last night and I could hear it through the phone, she said it was pretty bad. Thank god for the rain though. You guys really need it up there.

Julie - that post is a ripper! I agree with Nic, go back and read it later, its so funny. Can just see you sitting under a towel typing away.

Nic - be great when you get internet at home. Its a pain having check emails etc when at work, I don't seem to have the time. I can totally sympathise with getting ready in the morning and having to take the kids. I hate the mornings when I have to get myself ready plus 2 kids and bags etc. I always pack everything the night before, including getting my work clothes ready, otherwise I would have no time. Thankfully I don't do it every week and tomorrow DH is taking them so I only have to worry about getting myself out the door on time.

What a beautiful day outside today. Might actually get some washing outside today rather than drying on the clothes horse inside. Will take the kids to the park today, make the most of the sunshine. The rest of the week looks beautiful too and I can't wait as we are going away this weekend.

Chelsea came home from kinder very excited as they are having a Fathers Day b'fast at the school she is going to next Friday. She was telling DH all about it and he was looking forward to it to. That soon changed when he realised he has to be at a training course on the same Friday at 8am!!! She is going to be very upset about it. He was going to try and see what can be done, but it doesn't look likely that he can change the dates or even go it late.

    Enjoy the day

    Good afternoon Junies

Mel: I'll have to give you more warning! I was also thinking of going into Melbourne Central this Friday... so if anyone is up for a coffee at Borders I'll be there.

Nickers: Getting Niall ready to go out this morning was a breeze compared to Wade! OMG 3yos can drive you mental trying to dress them as they jump around blatantly ignoring your pleas to "hurry up we'll be late!" and if you get cross they could just as easily throw a wobbly and end up lying on their backs flailing their legs at you! The mind games required to get Wade dressed and out the door some mornings are incredible. My face is lucky to see a dab of foundation most mornings. I hope you enjoy your mortage free time. I know for us it's been almost worth paying rent not to have to stress about rate rises. Our rent has gone up $20 in 4 years... not too bad compared to when we had mortages.

Have to settle an altercation between the boys...

    OK where was I.

Rory: I forgot to say how good you are looking! You are right, pregnancy suits you. I never did the "glowing" bit half as well as you. Oh and the other Melbourne girls are going to coo when they see your new pram!!! regardless of the modification required it looked wonderful. Mick could make a fortune selling prams like that watch out Phil & Ted... here comes the "Mick". Loved the fact that it could have either 3 or 4 wheels.... and it looked so public transport worthy. Well done.

Amanda: sounds like you had a lovely break Oooh another baby! That would be exciting! I know what you mean about the bittersweet milestones of our June babies. Knowing that a baby is going to be your last has a real grieving process that's for sure. Oh and I just loved the photos you put up in the gallery! the one of cody with the white background is a classic... what a cutie!

Aw shucks Bath And I forgot to compliment you on your yoyos! I want to make some too but I know they won't be as good (I always overwork butter into flour - maybe I could come over for a pastry/shortbread lesson one day!

I don't work on Wednesday's so count me in next time you are cooking up some treats.
Yay Mel! My next appointment at the Mercy is Wednesday 19th, but I can't stay long cause I have a Law Institute lunch at 12.30 and will need to ditch Flynn with his dad for the arvo.

Nickers, like Bath said enjoy your mortgage free soujourn

Julie your post cracked me up too LOL!!

Amanda another bub for you would be great - and thanks for the pink baby dust in my pg journal - I will share some with you

Ali what did you end up baking? I am thinking of doing some more gingernut bikkies (soooo easy - its a melt and mix foolproof recipie!)

    Ciao bellas

hey ladies a quick one from me, not 100% at the moment, but the joys of a laptop with wireless means im still in bed while online

things r running smoothly here, apart from my asthma and the colds/flu's that are going around. bought Annika her first pair of shoes yesterday (actually boguht 2 pairs, Kmart had buy 1 pair get the seccond pair half price ) but her feet are so small i had to get size 3's - she would've fit into size 2's without a prob, but i want them to last for a little while... pair of white sandals and pink boots with flowers on them. They're so cute!! Bought about 10 summer outfits (in size 1, hopefully she fits into them by summer, she's a tiny bub) last week at target when they had 20% off, so im happy! And DP cant complain about me spending too much money - it was a bargain!! lo
Annika stood up for 5 seconds on her own the other day, everytime i change that beautiful cloth bum of hers (lol) i stand her up and have a play with her, making a game out of standing on her own, she's starting to get more confident now, she never used to have alot of strength in her legs, now she's managing to stand up a little longer each time.

Anyway, hopefully ill be back to do personals later, when my head isnt throbbing so much...

    love'n'hugs

Kat - Annika sounds like she's heaps of fun The outfits and shoes sound adorable - pics please??? Glad you could drop in, even though you're in bed...I LOVE my laptop!
Rory and Bath - yo-yo's....YUM! I was bad yesterday and bought a chocky eclair from the bakery and it was truly evil. I justified it by intending to cut it in half to share with DP, which I did...still felt evil!
Mel - thanks for the tip, I've got a room sorted at both campuses for both weekends! Still, I would like it to be made known to students that they can request this. I happen to be unafraid of asking and have some contacs (read: Mel!) who can help me be resourceful, but many others don't have that. I will get onto the women's advocacy people about this, maybe it can go into the diary or student handbook?
Nic - Every time I read over my demonstrator invite package from Tupp I think of you! Have you recruited anyone? You any closer to that Territory??
Julie - v funny little clandestine post! DP and I have still to figure out how to watch DVD's in bed (on laptop) without waking Oscar. Bourne Identity wasn't too bad, but we couldn't stop laughing for Borat and only ever got to watch the first half hour before handing it back to our friend!
Got a lunch with MG to get ready for now. One of our mummies is moving to Benalla, so it's a farewell lunch for her. She's very sweet and she'll be missed.
I had my haircut, too, so it should not drive me as nuts now...we shall see!!
Oh, and thanks, Mel - I'll go over to my dad's and sneak his psych's phone number from his medication box (I know who his GP is, that's why I was going to call him in the first instance). It's getting to the stage where they definitely need to know what's going on. I think he hurts even more when he sees Oscar and doesn't have the energy to smile for him. He loves Oscar, so I know he's smiling on the inside. *****, that just made me cry. I'll do the MG thing and head over to my dad.
    Catch you all later!
ETA: 3 nights in a row and counting...DP's doing a great job!!

Maya- well my tupp manager is going to meet a girl tonight who's in my belly buddies group due October! i met her at the last BB dinner and was chatting to her about it and she is quiet interested to hear more. She MIGHT be my first recruit! I'm also still working on my sister, she knows she could sell the product just finding the right times to work in with her dh and family.
are u thinking about joining! there is a new catelogue that was release on Sat very exciting! Ive so turned into a tupperholic lol!

is anyone on facebook? ive just joined up today

Rory - if I am free that Wednesday will be there (Bath, hope you don't mind me inviting myself lol!). Can you give the recipe for your gingernuts? I can make cakes, slices etc but not so good at bikkies.

Bath - don't worry, normally I am cool to go at short notice, just didn't check posts in time. Yoyo's sound like they were a hit. Would love to meet up this Friday but we are going away, so maybe next time?

Kat - Marley is a little munchkin too, still in size 0! The shoes at Kmart are so cute, have bought a few pairs before and they are pretty cheap too. Marley is a size 3 ATM but might get a few size 4's. I did the same and laybyed stuff at Target, they have some really cute things. I am actually thinking of buying from some US sites as they are having their big end of summer sales and the stuff is really cheap even after converting back to $AU. Check out gymboree dot com. Sounds like it won't be long till Annika is walking. Get better soon.

Maya - well done on the eclair, they are evil!!!! Glad you got your room sorted out, but what a pain to keep doing it. Good idea to have it put in handbooks etc, is there any reference in them or the website about parenting rooms? I must admit, I've never really looked. They say they are a very family friendly uni so it might be something they need to look into, and you are the girl to get the ball rolling. Oscar might be just the thing your dad needs to lift his spirits and yours. Have fun at MG and DP is doing a great job.

Nic - new word - tupperholic! You'll be driving that Territory before you know it. 2 of my friends have asked me to join Facebook and I keep forgetting. I will have to check it out. Another girl at work was showing me hers and it looks quite fun. Seems to be the way everyone is going.

Just sitting here trying to eat my spinach and fetta pizza (we have a good cafe here!) and type. Not a good idea.

Hope everyone is having a great day

Bonjour mon amies! (Had French this morning) and now I'm at a loose end...

Mel: Of course you can come over! It would be great... writing it on my calendar now. Maybe just do an easy slice... I'll do some more yoyos... I hope they turn out the same!

Oh why is it as soon as I come in here the boys need my attention... Wade broke a mirror this morning just because he was absentmindedly banging it with a toy... it was a long wall mirror attached to the wall mear their bathroom... bugger.... another expense anyhow better go deal before somethin g else gets broken.

Mel - last year when I went to the Monash Hosp for some pre-op appointments I got lunch from that cafe...it's great! And I was really impressed with the prices - better prices than on campus. Since when does Unicom or whoever runs the campus catering think that students can afford a 3 dollar drink?? The website does say there is a parenting room, and it's in the campus centre (I used it once when I was there with my mum and needed somewhere to feed cos the caf was full and I needed to change a nappy, too). One! On the whole of that ginormous campus! Caulfield has one, too, but it's a poor excuse for one - nothing like the Clayton one. Every other 'parenting room' on the Caulfield website is actually just a baby change station in the disabled toilets. I know because I went to every one of them last semester before finding the elusive one in the campus centre and I cried when I got there. I cleaned up my face and went to my car to do it there instead. At least the Clayton one has a sink, a bed, chairs and a bar fridge, as well as a change table. The Caulfield one had two chairs, a bed and table, the last two which were covered in ambo paper sheets because there was no bin. And that's what's available during business hours. I will contact whoever I need to to get it put into the student handbook about letting off-campus parents know that they should contact so and so for parenting facilities after hours.
Last night at brigade a friend gave me a photo of Oscar and I that she took in February, and it is honestly one of the loveliest photos of the two of us that have been taken. I scrubbed up well and Oscar looks very cute (actually, like a rabbit in headlights, but very cute!)
MG was really good. I would have stayed longer, but I wanted to check on my dad while Oscar was still asleep. He had eaten some toast today, so that was good. I couldn't find his meds box, so I'll call the GP to see if he can give me the number, or call the psych so that the psych can call me or something.
Just when I'm about to write off MG, I have a good meet up and look forward to the next one. One of them is pregnant with no2, so that's exciting. We all told her she was nuts, but in a good way, cos she knows that one of us doesn't want any more kids, one is dealing with moving to the country, one isn't sure if she wants anymore, one has had 3 and wants no more, and there's me who would prefer to wait till school has finished next year. It's very 'her' to be preggers again and it suits her! Babies everywhere...
Nic - yep, my Tupperware lady 'dobbed' me in, but we had been talking about it for a while back there, when I still wasn't sure if I'd go back to my old job (BTW, I got a phone call harrassing me to make a time to go back with my badge and staff card, from another manager I'd never heard of...like hell I'm going to call back! They can keep chasing me, I have no obligation to go back, especially if I'm not going to be paid for my time and it's out of my way!). But now I reckon I'll start in November after my exams finish, so I'l tag along to parties from about September. The manager came round on Friday and left the new catalogue...I'm loving it! The Happy Chopper looks even happier in red!
Better go, dogs are barking and Oscar is getting into everything...

Well we're enjoying the rain up here, our grass is finally green again, but the wind and the cold that has come with it are defineately not welcome. I've been walking Lockie to and from school in the rain and the wind has been horrendous, so much so that I rang DH at work and got him to buy a double pram rain cover. He brought it home just before I had to leave to get the boys and I can tell you it was a god send.

Mel yeah like I said the wind is so bad, on tuesday or wednesday night I thought that the pergola roof was going to lift off not nice. It sort of comes in waves and then calm down then get worse again.

Rory I will gratefully take that pink baby dust, like I said in the other thread just a feeling.

Bath I so know what you mean by trying to get a 3 yr old ready to go anywhere, I'm having the same problem with Wyatt now as well.

    Better go.

    hugs xoxo
