Hmm, I wonder what went wrong Mel... you've got me curious! I hadn't had a donut in years but last weekend, while I was at Melbourne Central doing my Chrissy shopping, I decided to conduct an experiment LOL I bought a coffee and a donut from Donut King for $3.70 and then was thinking to myself "I wonder what all the hype is about Krispy Kreme donuts?" so I went up stairs and bought a plain cinnamon one from them and then sat down and compared them! My verdict is that Donut King ones are better, for several reasons: they have more "substance" meaning they aren't so fluffy soft that you squash the whole donut with a single bite which is what the KK one didalso, the DK one had a more "real" flavour, more authentic, the taste was good because of the fragrant spiciness, not just based on pure sweetness like the KK one which i found to be too sweet and have a very vague unnatural, artificial flavour to it. They were pretty much the same size. Finally the KK one was $2.50 for that single donut! Bit of a rip off when i got a coffee as well as a donut from DK for $3.70. KK have heaps of different flavours though.... maybe there are others that i will like although DH reckons a colleague of his ate a Curry Chicken donut from KK last week... eeeeek! I don't know whether I'd be keen on that!
Julie: How are his teeth today??? Is there bruising as well? Poor little guy!
Cake out of the oven.. looking great...I also meant to say I'm going to have a go at icing it with marzipan with some Christmassy marzipan decorations as well... never attempted that before!
DH has recently been invited to a 20 yr high school reunion! Going to start a thread about other people's experiences...
