Hi all, just a quick drop in.

I am having trouble getting Angus to eat solids. He absolutely hates the rice cereal, even mixed with banana or mango - he dry retches and gags and spits it all out. He doesn't like eating anything really from a spoon no matter how hard I try, just doesn't take it off the spoon and if I tip it in, he coughs or pushes it out with his tongue. He will eat some fruit using a little device he got for Christmas which is basically a mesh bag with a handle, he'll chomp and suck on the fruit through that sometimes. But he shows no signs of wanting to eat from the spoon, he prefers to play with the spoon and have boobies! I'm getting tired of being on call for boobies all the time (some days every 1-2 hrs) and would love him to do two things: 1) eat more solids (2) take EBM from his sippy cup with spout. I've got a 4 day course in a couple of weeks and I have no idea how we'll manage things! HELP ME!!!!

    Hey feathertop!

Caeleb isn't the best eater either. He LOVES fruit, but getting him to eat veg is almost impossible. He HATED rice ceral too. We now give him Rafferty's (I think that's what it's called) baby porridge. Caeleb LOVES the orange one, it's apricot and banana, mixed with some milk.

Welcome Canberramum!!! The more the merrier.

I feel like such a bad Mum. I had to run out early this morning and meet a tradesman at the investment property, so I just grabbed a tin of apples for Caeleb's breakfast. When I fed him, I just pulled the lid half up and was spooning it straight out of the tin. BIG MISTAKE. Caeleb made a grab for the tin (which I thought was out of his reach) and cut the side of his hand on the lid!!! It was only a small cut, but it bled. I feel terrible. Such a stupid, stupid thing to do! He's fine, he only cried for a couple seconds, but it doesn't make me feel any better.

    Hi,

Welcome Canberramum, the more the merrier

Oh Celsie, don't be too hard on yourself, we learn by our mistakes, like me yesterday putting Lewis too close to the mirrored wardrobe so he fell back and knocked his head

Food wise, I'm lucky that Lewis eats anything, he is like a hoover. But Feathertop, they really need extra iron now they are over 6 months so maybe you should call tresillian to get some ideas. What about yoghurt? Or ricotta with veggies stirred through to disguise the taste? They do say it takes a while for that tongue reflex to stop before they will hold the food in their mouth. What a headache for you.

Teepee - I didn't really think about the sodium level in the cruskits. I worked out that half a biscuit has about 15mg. What is classed as high and low levels, do you know what their daily intake should be? I've been avoiding tinned baby food due to the salt level and here I am loading him up with cruskits!

Oh well better get back to the pile of ironing. Swimming lessons again tomorrow, hope Lewis still likes it.
