Hi Stacey. Welcome back! My only advise is the same as Sarah's - give Tresilian or Karitane a call they should be able to give you some idea of how to get Aliyah back into her bed. Hope things settle for you soon xx

Things are going well here. Mikayla is now clapping and cheering while she does it too - very cute. She also says Mummy, Dada and Hi. I'm a bit overwhelmed by how quickly she's growing up - yesterday she stood on her own in her playpen twice. It was only for about 5 seconds each time and the minute she realised she was standing on her own she quickly sat herself down. I'm just starting to realise that my little girl wont be little forever - makes me want another one all the more :P

I was wondering the same thing!

Does anyone go to a gymbaroo class? I'm thinking of starting one on Fridays as it is at 11.45am which is a good time of day. I have been trying to get to a playgroup for weeks but it starts at 10.00am and Lewis is usually sleeping or about to. Anyway Gymbaroo isn't that cheap so I wondered if it is worth it??

Not much other news really, we are plodding along. Lewis is still crawling very slowly and a few at a time. He's still a bit wobbly! And still shouting Dadadada all the time, no sign of mamamama yet!

Tina - How cute that Mikayla is clapping! I have tried to show Lewis how to clap but his rigid arms just aren't having it!

Hiya all..
Sorry, MIA again..

Not much to report on here really. Aiden was sick last week, had the roseola virus, but, not a bad case thankfully. Having some issues still with his sleeping at nights, which we really need to start working on. A friend is dropping me off a book today with some tips etc in it. I think he is perhaps having a nap to late in the day or something. He just seems tired, but, not tired enough to go into a deep sleep.
I really hope he gets settled in to a better sleep routine soon, i am seriously not keen on ttcing, cause i have had enough of sleepless nights.. I have to keep reminding myself that soon he willl sleep thru, and it will all be but a distant memory!
Otherwise, he is great of course, a very happy little man. Still only the 2 bottom teeth, is drooling etc like crazy, has been for weeks, but nothing else even looking like its on its way thru. Doesnt seem to be fazed in crawling still, keeps trying to stand up i think.
Started buying him winter clothes yesterday, buying either size 1 or 2, depending on the brand. Have noticed hte cheaper brands seem to be abit smaller, so, have brought size 2. He is already in some 1's now. PJ's i have brought in size 2, figuring it doesnt matter if at the start of winter, they are 2 big, cause, i reckon by the end of winter, they will fit just perfect, and i dont want to have to buy 2 lots. Have actually started looking on ebay for size 3 clothes for next summer.
But, he is still wearing size 00 shorts. Well, on a smaller baby, they would be more 3/4length, but, they fit him just fine, dont need to undo buttons or anything to take them off. He is just long, and not overly fat.
We havent measured him since he was 7months, so, now he is 8 months, we must do it again..

Good luck to those girls who are also ttcing.. i have tried the ttc 1-6months thread, but, it moves way to quickly for me, i cant keep up with it. Last AF really knocked me around abit, emontionally and physically.

Sarah, i am thinking of going to gymbaroo, but, when Aiden is more mobile. I think atm you will get more value for your money when they can get around better. In saying that, i actually dont know what they do, one of the mums from my playgroup goes, and she says they sit in a circle clapping and singing etc, and well, you can do that at home, or at your local library sessions if they have rhymme time type things.

I am thinking of dropping out of our playgroup, as its at 1pm, and Aiden generally is asleep then as well, or, wanting a sleep, and as i try to get him into abetter day sleep routine, if i find that he has a good sleep during playgroup time, which then results in a better night sleep, then i will think more seriously about not going. i think he finds it boring, and he gets more stimulation from being around older more active and mobile kids. So, i said to Darren that i might just make more of an effort to visit a friend once a week with older kids. Its better for me as well, to get that advise etc. Its hard to have a group of mums get together at time that is convienent for everyones 'nap' times. Most of the babies main nap time is in the morning, but, a few of us have it during the day, going into early afternoon.

The one main advantage of playgroup i think, other then meeting other mums in your area, is that stimulation that can come from lewis being with other kids, especially as he gets older, but, like i said you can still acheive that by either a)child care, or, (b) meeting another mum(s) one on one, at a time that is good for both of you.

Hi everyone

Well, I haven't posted in a while. Sorry about that. I've been around, but it seems that by time I finish reading, it is time to get off the computer. I have a bit of time this morning, so here is an update.

I am still breastfeeding Diana. I'm not counting the number of feeds, but I think that it is about 4-5 during the day and 1-2 at night (a couple of nights recently she slept through and didn't need a feed ). She gets solids 2-3 times a day. For breakfast she has a bit of weetbix with cinnamon and/or some fruit. For lunch she gets fruit or veges and for dinner she gets whatever we get pureed, e.g. meat, rice and veg, etc. She has about 1-2 tablespoons at each sitting with a bit more for dinner. Last night she had about twice as much as she usually eats for dinner and ended up throwing it back up. Poor little girl. Not sure why she kept eating, maybe because it tasted so good... So will be careful on how much we give her tonight.

Diana has gotten better at day sleeping and now has 2 naps per day, ranging from 20 mins to 2 hours each, and she sleeps well at night, waking only sometimes for a feed. She is pretty settled and content during the day too.

Yesterday we spent the day rearranging the living room. So, feeling rather tired today, but the small amount of space that we have is now being utilised much better. Diana seems to like it too, as she now has lots more room to crawl around in. And now she doesn't seem as interested in playing with the bins anymore . She has gotten really fast at crawling and also pulls herself up to a standing position. I have a feeling she is not far off walking.

As for me, I have decided not to go back to work for the next few months. So I will be a SAHM mum for a while longer. It is quite good, except that I often get bored and head out to the shops only to realise that I have no money to spend . Oh well, window shopping is good too. I am also going to do training with the ABA to become a breastfeeding counsellor, which should be good.

Sarah - no we haven't gone to gymbaroo class or anything yet. I don't know what they do, but from what I've heard it's aimed at slightly older kids?? (I could be wrong...)

Debbie - wow buying size 1 or 2 already! I thought that Diana was long, but she is only in 00 length (still fits 000 otherwise). I am buying 0 size for winter.

Tina - yay for Mikayla clapping. That sounds to cute. Maybe I should teach Diana to do it.

Took Diana to playgroup today and she seemed to enjoy it. All the other kids were older than her, but she seemed to do okay.

I didn't go to Gymbaroo today as you have to pay up front for the whole term which I think is a bit bad because you only know on the day depending on their sleep if you can go. So I will just keep aiming to go to the playgroup on a Monday at 10.30am if his sleeps permit.

I gave Lewis blueberries today cut in half, he really likes them. I'm trying to give him chunkier food as I still have this choking phobia happening! Tomorrow I'm going to steam some carrot sticks for him to hold. I tried rockmelon today and he just squeezed it and then dropped it!

We took him on the swings at the park last week, he thinks its hilarious! So we will have to make it a regular thing. I've also started taking him to the ducks which he finds fascinating.

Not much other news really.

hello everyone,

Well, as I was saying in my last post, the other morning Dane woke up about 5am and I changed his nappy and put him back to bed with a bottle. All ok, then I could here him awake but playing in his cot, so I thought I would leave him there for a bit longer while I was catching a few extra zzz's.. Then I could hear that he wanted to come out, so in i walk only to see him with a nappy half on, or off how ever you look at it, either way, not how u want to see a poopy nappy! and a whole lotta poop in the cot, on his hands, his arms, legs! Everywhere but his face, which was a good thing out of the whole situation! in the shower we promptly went and out the back to hose down the sheets! ahhh not nice!! But i do think I must not have put his nappy on quite tight enough.. lesson learnt, and taught very well!

I noticed a few of you have been talking about choking and foods etc. I used to be quite worried too, but now I am not so worried and it has just taken time. Dane eats pretty much anything now. He really likes feeding himself, he will always try to take the spoon when feeding him, so i try to give him as much food that he can feed himself. I do try to make sure that it is only softish foods, paw paw, banana, cooked carrots sticks, toast and the list is endless! he likes to chew on a stick of celery, he does eats grapes, we cut them in half and he loves them and has no trouble with them. What he does do is have both hands full, his mouth full and try to stuff in more! I am always watching him but. I noticed with toast especially he stuffs sooo much in that he kinda gags, spits it out and will eat it again, but I think they need to learn how much to put in I guess. Dane will now eat pretty much wat we are, I try to make dinners now that he can have too. He loves lamb shank casserole, spag bog, lasangne, they are great cos the meat is either mince or very tender. We had a roast the other nite at mums, and he had the same as we did, just broken up a bit and basically he fed himself.! it was great!

Dane decided nearly 2 weeks ago now just to stop bf! It was really weird, I new that he was feeding from me less and less and I was thinking that maybe it is time, but he made the choice entirely. He had one last bf the night before we went away, and that was the first one in a couple of days. He is a great eater and I guess he just new it was time. I was expecting a battle or something. I was a little bit bummed but as one of my mates said, its not like he's my last bub, so I will get that same amazing experience again.

I am very interested about the eye colour too, as my boy has the brightest blue eyes, when I have brown/hazel, hubby has green/hazel. But both our mums have blue eyes, so apparently we both carry the recessive blue eye gene. But, my brother had beautiful blues and lovely white curls until he was about 3, his eyes turned brown, dark brown like our dads and his hair darkened. But I have even read about cases wen the eyes have changed some 15-20years later. so its a waiting game i reckon! I understand too about wanting to duck tape them down to change, I need more than tape to stop the twisting he does!

Sarah: about lewis crying with your grandad, dane did the same thing with his grandad, but not only that, nearly every man that approached him, he freaked out at at first. I think it is possibly because Dane doesnt have many men in his life apart from his father and godfather. but I dunno but it was strange

Celsie: Caleb is sooo soo cute!

Starfish: I understand the whole SAHM & not been able to shop! I am in exactly the same boat, but I wouldnt change any of it! I am lucky to be able to be a SAHM. I think all you ladies who are back in the workforce are amazing that you can do it all! I have trouble getting everything done as it is! Good luck with the ABA, what a great thing to do, such a great cause.

Mackuzs - i hope you have sleeping under control or at least better for you all. Since I went away I have had dane sleeping the whole night through, oh so so good. I dunno what changed, he was in the same room as us in his portacot while we were away, so I am not sure if that kinda helped, but it has also seemed to coincide with him stopping to BF. He used to wake so many times a night and push his way to my boob, now he doesnt even try to get them and he is not waking up looking for a feed.

Feathertop: YAY for having hubby back in action! It would have been like I had another baby had it have been my DH!! Isnt it just soo cute when you walk in their room, to see them standing, trying to peer over the side of the cot at you! I love it! .

Charlyfrog: I love reading your posts, your bubbly personality comes right thru every post! There are so many priceless moments with the littluns, it is a shame we dont have like a "big brother" camera setup in the house to record all the precious things they do!

Hi there ladies and gentlemen, it has been such a long time since i last posted!!!
I have been working 3-4 nights per week till 12am and Ashlyn still doesnt sleep through she usually wakes around 12.30-1am for a bottle then back to sleep till around 7.30am so sleep is very precious for me
Ashlyn is still so little she still fits into 0000 outfits i bought when she was born...not all but some!! I have been buying her 000 an 00 for winter she is just long and lean..i cant remember her weight i have to take her for her check up soon. She is crawling properly now and is super quick...Rylan doesnt know what has hit him she likes to ruin his little Thomas train tracks he meticulously sets up and is constantly saying no Ashlyn leave it alone, go away!!! Soo cute. They also like to wrestle with each other now which he loves and she thinks is quite funny...but as soon as he is down she goes in for the kill...pulling hair and licking him anywhere she can manage!!! He thinks its gross she cacks herself.
Ashlyn can cheer she throws her arms up and goes ergh ..you can she is trying and she also claps,waves byebye, and she dances to music you know the cute little movement when they sit and they wiggle their bums forward and back?
She is climbing up and walking around anything that doesnt move and tries on those that do hehe, she has just cut her 2 top teeth so thats a total of 4...but she is sick atm poor thing she is so hoarse and has a terrible cough so dry and rough and has a temp for a few days, so she has been very unsettled!!
Rylan is loving preschool he goes 2 full days now and thinks its great.

Sorry i cant do personals its fairly late so i am going to hit the hay before one of the kids wakes up!!

I will try to pop in more regularly but with planning our wedding, work and 2 kids and not to mention housework etc etc it gets hard.

Hi everyone

Argh, Diana seems to want to put everything in her mouth, except finger food!! How weird is that?? We went to playgroup today, and when they brought out morning tea (bits of fruit and cheese), the other bub there, a 7 month old boy, ate the finger food happily, but Diana just didn't want to know. Even when I picked a piece up and tried to give it to her, she wouldn't open her mouth. Has anybody else experienced this??
