Woh ... things have moved at lightning speed in this thread since I was last on two days ago!!! Welcome njd!
Mel - darlin' you sure need a . Things will turn around for you and your family soon, I'm sure (... er, if you're into prayers, then St Monica is the patron saint of mothers! Thank my catholic school education for this genuine pearl of wisdom). Truly hope things settle down in your household. You know where we are whenever you need to let it all hang out. How's Emily's ears now?
Hayley - I'm hearing you about our bubs starting to assert themselves. I wouldn't say Cam "demands" anything (god forbid!), but I've seen a couple of flashes of temper/frustration.
Nina and CM - a bugger about Cohen and Flynn's sleeping habits. I'm no real help with advice in this department (... pls, don't throw rotten cyber eggs at me!) So far Cam is still sleeping approx 10 hours a night. Some days he has 'sleepy days', where he may have a couple of sleeps of 2-3 hours - other days he doesn't have any more than a couple of 20-30 mins sleeps. I go with the flow but am relieved he's sleeping at night. Of course, I realise all that may change in the blink of an eye ... Good luck with getting your bubs settled/asleep for longer periods at night.
Reenie and LauraB - sorry to hear your MG experiences weren't great, but in defence of older mums, were not ALL obsessed with prams and "one-upping". Promise . Of course, MY son is now walking and talking and will soon be going to university ... .
Reenie, good luck with renovating, starting uni and moving - you're more game than I'd be! Good on you for hosting a mothers group at your house ... I need to get in touch with playgroup or something similar over this side of the city. I love BB but it would be great to have a natter (and a coffee) face-to-face with some other mums.
LauraB - I posted my birthing experience in the birth stories. Sorry, I'm useless with links but think I called it Cameron James' natural birth 16/03/08. Suffice to say, I had a pretty quick labour (approx 5 hours) and had the birth I wanted, being no intervention and no drugs. I was lucky that everything "went to plan", but feel that the HyonoBirthing course DH and I attended plus relaxation/breathing exercises at home, helped. All in all, a good experience which I'd gladly repeat (hopefully in the not tooooo distant future, all being well). Sorry to hear Sam's feeding is a bit off - I can relate to some extent. Cam's feeding habits have definitely changed in the past couple of weeks in that he pulls off and on more than ever, and he doesn't need a full 10 mins from both breasts. All we can do is persist, I reckon, and hope it's just a "phase" ... Good luck with it.
Luey - glad to hear that Ethan has found some relief, but sounds like you've still a little way to go before his reflux (or whatever it may be) is totally sorted? I'm sure it isn't nice seeing your darling baby unhappy ... keep up the good work. Hope he (and his mummy) start to get some further relief soon.
Hi to Bec - sorry to hear about Jake's illness. Hope things ok and hope to hear from you soon.
Njd - no solids here yet. Cam is showing great interest in the food I eat, but I hear that's pretty normal for bubs his age. I'm not planning to introduce solids until 6 months providing we keep BFing with ease.
All-boys - hope all well with you and your brood!
I bought Cam a teething ring today. I read up on teething in Robin Barker's "Baby Love" book (almost my bible in the early days). She indicates that, like colic, "teething" is a slightly overused term that explains away unexplained crying. Similar, I think, to what you are saying Hayley. Anyway, I'm not getting hung up about whether or not Cammie is teething. However, I saw Cam rubbing his dummy backwards and forwards over his gums a few times yesterday, so I suspect something may be happening in that department. Time will tell, but hopefully the teething ring will provide him with whatever relief/relaxation he is needing.
Hope I've covered everyone in the personals ... our "little" group (as we used to say) has really taken off .... the more, the merrier !
Mel - just saw your post. Glad to hear Emily is feeling better. Tresillian sounds like a lot of running around, but will be good if it helps James and you. Thanks for the update on Bec. Take it easy there.
