hi girls,
just a quick one from me, James has turned bad with his sleeping patterns again, im completely exhausted but anyway i just wanted to let you girls having sleeping problems know of something i discovered...im not sure if you are allowed to put web page links in here so i wont but if you google "messenger mums" you will come to a page set up by tresillian, where you can add the tresillian nurse to your msn list (i assume they are there 24 hours a day - they are showing online at the moment) so anytime you need some advice you can just start up a chat with them, might come in handy for all sorts on things
Melinda
-
Mel - that is no good, jsut when you were getting somewhere. Hopefully it will ease again soon. Thanks for letting me know about tresillian on msn. I will keep it in mind.

Sounds like you are all having issues with sleeping....we are too. They all must be going through a growth spurt. Cohen seems to be less settled aswell. I hope it doesn't last much longer.
Cohen is rolling like MAD now!!! Everytime I put him down to change him he is rolling over right away. He is also showing signs of attempting to crawl. He pushes his legs on the floor to thrust himself foward and uses his hands to pull along...not long now and I'll have my work cut out for me I'm sure!!
Have to scoot...gotta go to bed. Hope your all well....hugs to your gorgeous babies!!!!
-
hi ladies how is everyone? So pleased (sorry ) that everyone seems to be having the sleeping or lack of I should say issues. I thought perhaps it was the fact I had been on antibiotics but no its not. Scout just doesnt seem to want to sleep anymore.
I have a very good friend from NZ visiting at the moment which has been great to catch up with her. We went to Australia Zoo on Monday and I think Scout slept for perhaps an hour all day. He was happy though taking it all in and seeing all the sites so I wasnt too worried about it but my god did he lose the plot on the way home. We live a good hour 20 from the zoo and he screamed the entire way home, he was so overtired. I thought he would wear himself out but the stubborn bugger didnt. I have never been so happy to pull into our driveway!:cryinglaugh:
Oh well it cant last. Thats what I keep telling myself anyway.
Speak of the devil, he who shall rule the roost has had his 20min catnap, so I best go get him
Goodnight my fellow sleep deprived Mothers

Hi Everyone.
Last night was the first time in a LONG time that I got more than 3 hrs sleep in a row. I got 5hrs in a row!!! Very exciting! Hopefully tonight is the same :crossfingers:
I was very excited this morning! Flynn was having some tummy time and I went into the kitchen to get some breakfast. When I came back in to him he was on his back playing with his feet!! I was a bit disappointed that I didn't actually see it but he rolled over! He hasn't repeated the trick yet...maybe tomorrow!
I've been having a hard time feeding Flynn lately. He is coming on and off and and on and off...Argh! It's driving me nuts. Hopefully it's just a faze and will pass soon.
Sorry  I don't have time for personals.
Hope you are all well!

Hi Ladies!
I'm sorry, I haven't done my homework and caught up on what's what.....I've been very lazy. Still got the outlaws here, they head home tomorrow and are taking Ben and Clo with them and then we'll follow later when DH gets home. So we are heading up to their place for the weekend while we still have some tax $$ to catch up with friends. I can't wait as I have a friend I chat to every week there and I love to actually SEE her. So next week when things are more settled I promise to get back into the swing of things.
In baby news, Jake learnt to roll from back to front last Saturday and is now at it constantly. So exciting but makes me so sad still.....where is my baby going?? :( Growing too fast. On the BF front things are going well. Down to 100ml top ups but he can go with out them a lot. I was naughty today and forgot to give him one at his 11am feed and then when he was doing well without it I also skipped his 3pm top up. He wasn't bothered at all, but i think I need to just reduce them slowly, rather than going for the chop!!! It's so tempting though, I just wanna get rid of them!
I've been missing you all terribly (luckily Mel has been keeping me informed and sane!) and can't wait to get to know the newbies! I'm not usually this scatty....I promise! :)
Off to do the dreaded top up bottles and tidy up for tomorrow. Hope you all have a good weekend and give those gorgeous plump cheeks a big kiss for me ( I LOVE smooching Jakes chops! lol).

Welcome to Sunday morning with a baby! i have been up since 4am when Sam decided to wake for an hour then go back to sleep, thing is I'm now totally awake!
Oh he has been so bad! I really hope this is a faze.He has been waking 5 - 6 times a night, sometimes more for the last 2 weeks.
He goes down very easily at night but just wont stay down.During the day it's a whole different story! HE WILL NOT GO DOWN! every time I try he screams and screams, he wont eat before going to sleep, or take the dummy.Nothing seems to help.
I have tried everything, Stretching out his feed so he is extra hungry, stretching out the time he is awake to make him extra tired, letting him fall asleep on me then putting him down,it just doesn't work.I know he is tired though, He was falling asleep in the Jolly Jumper on Friday, and the second I tried to take him out , Screams!
I'm out of ideas. I'm worried I'm not making enough milk anymore. He had his 4 month check up last week and was 8.8 Kg and 68.5 Cm, I wonder if my milk can sustain such a big boy.ahh I don't know.
Dh is very annoying about it too.Yesterday when we were driving Sam was crying for about 5 minutes then fell asleep.DH now thinks that if we let him cry for a couple on minutes he will just fall asleep,he doesn't seem to realise that being in the car is what got him to sleep.
On the plus side I'm coping pretty well with it all.A month ago I would have been crying along with him.
Better go, the Big Man is waking again!
Hope everyones weekends have been a little better than mine.
Laura xx

P.s Welcome back Bec, look forward to getting to know you!:)

HEEELLLLLOOOO!!! Any body out there today?
AAAHHH Just had to pop on line for a minute and relax! Just took me 2 hours to get Sam down for a nap.Lots of tears involved.Poor little man.
Lucky he's so cute.Today he worked out how to blow raspberries,it's the cutest thing ever.
Anyway, I might go read for a while.
Goodnight to any of you who are lurking.xxx

Hi all,
Been a while since I've posted (although I typed a post here the other day which was lost just as I was about to submit ... looked like the internet gremlins got to the BB site).
Anyway, I won't do personals tonight (... I will later in the week) but just wanted to say welcome back to Bec, send a dozen  to Mel and a few  to Laura too.
We had a  moment during the week ... Cam rolled for the first time (luckily nanna and poppy were around to see it, cos mummy certainly wasn't!). He FINALLY rolled from his back to his front. Actually, I was pleased my parents were there to see it as they head back down to Tassie on Tuesday after 5 weeks caravaning near us and/or staying with us. It's nice they were there for one of Cam's "milestone moments".
All's well in our neck of the woods. Cam and I had a lovely time on the Sunshine Coast with my parents. Will have more time to jump online later in the week.
Cheers, Andie xx

Hi Girls
Oh what a weekend we've had. I woke Isabella up for a feed about 9.15pm on Friday (I always wake her at that time) and she didn't seem right, Mick notice that she wasn't breathing right - very shallow so Mick unwrapped her and then she had a fit. She started to shake all over and her eyes went sidewards and Mick tried to get her to look at him but she wouldn't. I rang for the ambulance and they were here within 5 mins and the lady stayed on the phone telling us what to do. It was all very scary.
We we to Hospital and they took some blood for testing but that came ok. It took 3 doctors 5 goes to get blood from Isabella and the poor thing was screaming. WE spent Friday night in hospital. I finally got to sleep about 2am but was awake every hour on the hour til about 5am when Isabella fed. The doc came Saturday morning and said we had to stay another night just in case. I did manage to sleep a little better til about 2am when a little boy was admitted and was in the other cot in our room and that was the end of my sleep. I was glad to sleep in own bed last night.
We got the all clear at lunch time yesterday to come home and we went brought a motion and sound monitor with the sensor pads that go under the mattress. We weren't going to take any chances.
They didn't find anything specific wrong with Isabella other then she had a cold. Isabella has to have an EEG in a months time to rule out other things.
Anyway I had better go and try to get my house in order and hang some washing out
Take care and give your babies a big cuddles
Jo
-
Gosh Jo! How scary. I'm glad everything is ok for now. I hope she is fine. BIG  for both of you.
No time for anything else sorry Flynn is crying for me!
-
Ooooh! Jo how scary! But glad all is ok.
No time here either, house is a huge mess and Chloe is being a right b!tch today, and is giving attitude to Ben right as we speak so I'm off to break up the brawl.....*sigh* BBL
xxx
-
Ohno Jo. How scary for you. Glad she is ok.
I have a shocking cold, a bit better today but is not helped by His Royal Monkeyness waking every 1-3hours overnight. I think the other bottom front tooth is on the move. Not sure if he is fighting off my cold too. I am trying formula topuo but he doesn' really want them. Is feeding a bit more often too, back to every 2-4hours during the day.
Anyway sleeping dust to all I am going to have a nap, and I bet HRM will wake up!
-
Yeah having a shocker of a day here too......
Jake is only sleeping 30 mins maximum and driving me nuts. The kids making noise and carrying on is NOT helping the situation either. Needed to pop in for some 'sane' time, lol.
Got builders next door, building a new unit in the backyard...bloody thing has it's structures going up today ind it's like 1 metre away from my large kitchen window....GRRRR!!! Was just growling at the kids and looked up to see a builder standing there
Hope to get back in for personals later on tonight, maybe with a glass of wine in hand ;)
xxx
-
hi girls,
wow Jo, thankgoodness you went to wake Isabella when you did, i hope it was just an infection of some sort, it must have been so scary for you
Bec: i hope you have that glass of wine in your hands by now (although you are probably still putting children to bed !)
Andie: you sound like you have had a lot of visitors since Cam was born and been very busy ! good to hear Cam is rolling, James did for the first time a week ago but hasnt repeated it (except the time emily "helped" him roll lol)
James has been trying to sit up all the time now, whenever he goes in the bouncer or swing etc, i wish i had his abdominal strength lol
for those interested i have been following karitane "rules" for getting your child to sleep more, i started really concentrating on it last wednesday and by the weekend james was going to sleep himself (still waking sometimes at 45 mins) but settling easily again, he slept 5 or 6 hours each day, we are still working on the night time sleeps which are hit and miss but he has a cold so is waking with a blocked nose and cough but things are MUCH improved and i hope they continue, if any of you girls want the link to their advice let me know
Luey: i hope your cold improves quickly, im suffering yet again with one too (we all are)
hi to Catherine, rustygirl, Laura, Reenie and Hayley (havent heard from you girls in ages) All boys, Nic and anyone i have forgotten
Melinda
-
Hi Mel
Great that you are having some success with James. I would love the KAritane link. Are you still using the dummy? I sort of want to get rid of it, just so I don't have to get up to him and he can learn to self settle. Poor thing, not another cold. How is your foot?
-
Good Morning everyone!
Jo - Oh my gosh, I hope everything is OK.It must have been absolutely terrifying for you.I cannot even begin to imagine.Keep us posted.:hug:
Mel - So glad to hear that things are on there way to getting better,I hope it continues. Please send me that link,I'm all out of Ideas, but have to do something.
Looks like most of us aren't having much luck in the sleep department.
Things with Sam are getting a lot worse.I don't know what to do.The last 2 nights he has slept no more than an hour at a time.He is also waking for long periods in the middle of the night.Getting him down for a nap during the day is such an effort that half the time I give up after trying for over an hour.I just can't stand to see him so hysterical.
He doesn't seem sick,no fever or runny noes and when we are playing he is perfectly happy.
Each day I am finding it harder and harder. Maybe this is just something that happens when the hit 4 months.I'm still worried that my milk isn't enough for him anymore. How can milk alone feed a 8.75 kg baby?
On the plus side, he rolled from back to tummy for the first time yesterday. He still hasn't repeated the other way since the first time at 3.5 months though!
Hope everyone had better nights sleep last night.
xxxxx Laura
-
Laura, I"m probably going to get shot for saying this but........
If you really are stressed about your milk not being enough why don't you try him on some solids, baby rice? Much better than switching to FF IMO. Solids will take up some of the hunger that BF does. I kept quiet but Jake has been on solids for a few weeks now. For us/me it was a huge relieiver in the whole trying to get my supply up thing and he really doesn't even need top ups anymore. I try but he refuses. Just for peace of mind. lol. Jake is up to having some weetbix in the morning and a bowl of veggies in the evening. I know it's not recommended until 6mo now so of course it's all up to you but that's just the direction I'd be heading if I were you IMO of course.
Sorry I didn't make it in last night, was SO tired. Got a massive headache today and although it's meant to be daycare day it's pouring and the car is in b eing fixed......bummer!!
xxx
Oh, Jake is a non-sleeper too....I think it happens alot around this age....lol
-
Becstar I have been seriously thinking about this.
I mean with my other boys it was from 4 months on and now all of a sudden they are saying babies can last another two months with only milk??
We have been offering Scout little bits of food and he is taking it in. Not doing the whole tongue pushing out thing and he is watching us hard out when we are eating which makes me feel guilty so I reckon he is ready.
I bought the farex a few weeks ago and it is sitting in the pantry taunting me, im gonna give it a go.
-
We did the same thing all-boys. I tried him AGES ago and it just gave him a tummy ache! But then when I tried a couple of weeks later he took it all in no troubles (not pushing it out with him tongue) and loves it! I gave my other two solids at 4mo as that was the recommendation then too. Let us know how it goes.
Mel - Printed of the Karitane info.....seriously thinking of starting tomorrow! Where would I be without all your info? ;)
Hi all, will pop in and out all day and try and catch up with you all. Luey, how's E going with the reflux? Karitane have a booklet on reflux too......

Hello everyone,
I have been reading when I get the chance but things here are ***** and I just feel like cr*p.....marital stuff still, I really don't know whats going to happen :(. But onwards....
Bec - I have repaired your nappy and will post tomorrow with some others. Hey - yay for your little Jake taking to the boob and solids!! I agree the boob and small amounts of food is great in your situation. Oh and I think your little Jake is probably bigger then Ari now!!.
Mel - Hip hip horay!!!! So glad James is sleeping in the day, you have done so well to get through the last 5mths. Hows your foot?
Jo - Holy Cr*p!!! So glad bubs is OK now - so scary for you both, glad you weren't alone. I can only imagine.
Luey - A tooth, cheeky little monkey how clever, lol. Heres hoping the others come through with no dramas. If I were you I would just feed on demand and forget the bottles - bubs know what he wants and by feeding him you will increase your supply to meet his needs.
Laura - When I get on to FB I will be your friend (lol) - it is playing up for me at the moment  Be warned I am about to rave a little about breastfeeding *blush*...
I just want to say it is perfectly normal for you to have concerns about breastfeeding (all mums do I am sure) BUT your milk grew him to 8.75kgs and will continue to be the normal, healthy, perfect food for Sam. Some great sites are the ABA site and also Kelly Mom, they have heaps of information about breastfeeding.
It is normal also for babies weights to plateau (but some don't), especially as they stop sleeping , become more active and take more of the world in. Ari's weight has already plateaued and he is not quiet 5mths.....I know that with my kids this has happened each time and is normal, even my 1st who was FF from 7mths had the same weight gains. You are doing a great job breastfeeding!!!:cheer:
It is a shame that BF doesn't make more people (corporate/business) rich as there would be much more positive promotion if that were the case ;) and it is a shame that many people think that FF is a equally comparable, or even superior, way to feed. I have lost count of the number of times I have been told "isn't it time they stopped that" or "put them on the bottle then you can have a break" when my babies were only little (ie under 1) let alone when I have been feeding an older baby (ie 20mths) while pregnant . Breastfeeding is a great way to get lots of cuddles because before you know it they grow up and you get less and less.
The World Health Organization recommends breast feeding till 24mths now which is great as many people took the 12mth recommendation as an indication BF had no benefits after that age. Considering the world average age of weaning is 4 years I think us "developed" countries are going backwards.
*disclaimer I love breastfeeding and think its many benefits are often forgotten and will do my best to encourage people to continue breastfeeding...I don't mean to sound like a fanatic or put down those that don't bf its just something I am passionate about*:lol:
Hi to everyone else.....I have typed so much Ari is now awake.
Sorry I havent been in here as much - i do think about you and read but life is bloody hard and I just need to focus on the kids...
Big Hugs and Sleepy vibes.
Hayley.
-
LOL Hayley you make me laugh! :D You are of course totally right. For me i really struggle every day to trust my body is making all that Jake needs. I know it's a product of advertising and misconceptions but it's so hard to break!
So good to hear from you though :D I really didn't expect you to do the nappy so quickly....I know what my life is like and yours must be even busier!! We are also in on the marital problems but I think a bit of rudimentary communication has got us on track....for a while at least. I hope it all gets resolved one way or another soon.

Jake has been a ratbag ALL DAY!!! Just won't sleep. He had developed a rash on his cheeks so I'm thinking teeth may be in on the act too.....
What I wanted to boast about was my DH!!!! First he actually went to the supermarket for me (he HATES going in there, lol) then brought me home some coke (to go with my birthday bottle of Beam in the cupboard!) AND a bunch of Oriental Lillies!! I was a bit suss.....although he insists it's just because it's been a rough couple of days. Right now he is vacuuming the house after taking all the clothes off the clothes horses (yes horses....as in more than one....it is tassie in winter!!). I am in shock!! I'm thinking I oew him some reward...if I don't fall asleep first!!

Hi gals,
Jo - oh my goodness, I can only imagine how frightening it would have been for you, your hubby and Isabella. So glad to hear things are ok after your scary night - keep us posted after the EEG.
Luey - colds must be going around. I've had my first one since Cam was born. Felt particularly urk yesterday, so went and bought some Echinacea tablets. I probably overdosed on the tablets last night and this morning, but thankfully I feel on the improve already. Am hoping echinacea's no prob to Cam ... guess I should have checked . He seems ok though. You get better soon.
Mel - Glad to hear you're having some luck with sleeping. From what you have said previously, you needed things to improve so you could get some sleep too. I seem to be among the few who aren't having any real difficulty with sleeping although I've absolutely no doubt that could all change overnight. Cam gets a bit grizzly from time to time, but generally if DH or I put his dummy in his mouth he quietens down. In fact, that's probably when I'll have probs with him sleeping - when we choose to wean him off the dummy! Hope your cold improves too.
Laura - - sorry to hear you're having more sleep issues with Sam. The only advice I can offer is that Cam doesn't sleep much during the day - at the most 2 or 3 blocks of 20-30 min naps. However he sleeps reasonably well between 8pm and 8am. For us, it seems to work if he's kept "on the go" during the day. However, I know that approach doesn't work for everyone. I've just been lucky that we discovered what "works" for us. However, as per what I've said above ... it could all change for me tomorrow. Hope that the link Mel sent you helps. Good luck. Let us know how things are going.
Bec - sounds like your kidlets are testing your patience on the home front ... imagine it probably feels like "can't live with 'em, can't live without em" :cryinglaugh:. Woo hoo for the hubby! Each to their own as far as solids go - so good for you if Jake is happy and content with solids and boobs. Cam is extremely interested in all food that goes into my mouth at the moment, but he seems to be doing fine with exclusive BFing, so I'm happy to hold off until he's six months old - which is only approx 4 weeks away.
All-boys ... how did Scout go on the farex? Hope he enjoys his first solids experience. Tell me, is post-solids poo easier or worse to deal with :p?????
Hayley -. Take care of yourself. I haven't said too much about it, but DH and I had some major marital troubles before Cam was born. Luckily we were able to turn things around with the help of counselling and the two of us making an effort to communicate more and be more forgiving (for want of a better word) with each other. We're in a good place now, thankfully. Guess I'm just trying to say that I understand/empathise with what you're possibly going through, to some extent. Do what you need to do and go easy on yourself. Don't apologise for spruiking the benefits of BFing. I'm hoping to BF for 12 months, giving us a few weeks to wean until I start work in April next year. My first goal was to BF for six months - which is approaching so quickly it isn't funny .
Well, my parents headed back to Tas today in their caravan. My mum shed enough tears to float a boat, and I got a bit sooky too. It's been wonderful seeing them on and off for almost six weeks. The support they give me/us is incredible - I'm very lucky. And yes, it was nice to foist little Cammie off onto nanna or poppy while I did some housework/made dinner etc. I'm heading down to Tas for a couple of weeks in Oct, mainly so I can spend more time with them, and my sister and her little boy (Toby) who's now seven months old. Can't wait to see Cam and Toby together ... and my parents can't wait either as it will be the first time (for them) they will experience their two baby grandsons in the one place at the one time.
Alrighty, I've spent half the night writing this post. I'd better hit the submit button.
My thoughts are with those of you experiencing sleep problems - truly hope things improve soon.
Andie xx

Hi girls!
Been reading back over this thread slowly...Laura I didn't realise you had been diagnosed with PND. Good on you for being so up front about it and you are obviously very pro-active about it and getting help you need. Yay for you! :) Having a baby is such a rollercoaster of emotion anyway, ups and downs........I have nothing but massive respect for you!!
Just wanted to share a little whoo-hoo for me.....I took the plunge and have made no bottles up for today. Yesterday we didn't use any except I made them all into one large bottle to top up for Jake's 7pm feed although he still only took around 50mls of that. So last night I decided not to even make anymore and I'll just make up the top up one for night if I need it later. YAY!!!! Although we propbably don't have an ideal routine going it's suiting us ok at the moment, looks like this......(times are only approximate!!!)
4am-6:30am Into bed with Mum and dream feed on and off
7am Weetbix
8:30am-9:30am Quick feed off to sleep on the boob, quick nap.
10:30am-11:00am Big booby feed
12pm-12:30pm Quick feed off to sleep again.
2:30pm-3pm Big booby feed
4pm-4:30pm Bath time, quick snooze in the bouncer.
5pm Bowl of Veggies
6:30pm-7pm Big booby feed and top up if he'll take it. SLEEP!!
Andie, Jake only sleeps like Cam does which drives me nuts but he is really happy in between so I'm assuming it's enough for him. I meant to ask how you are going with your walking?
Nic.....I got your emails.....Dusty is SOOOO cute!! :)
Will keep on reading through and attempting to catch up!
xxx
-
Hi Bec,
Thanks for asking. The walking is going really, really well. I'm pounding the pavement for 8km every day. I've lost 10kg and feel trim, taut and terrific (huuuh? ... pls picture Andie being rudely jolted awake by the sound of a crying baby).
Ahhhh. Such a nice dream :p.
Truth is, the walking went somewhat by the wayside amid the stream of visitors over the past month or two . HOWEVER, as you know I'm heading down to Tas in mid October and my sister has managed to get rid of most of her baby weight, so I'm determined to lose mine before then. I've got about 8-9 weeks to shed 5-8 kilos.
There's nothing like a little sibling competitiveness to get one's butt into gear!
Good for you and Jake with your BFing and routine. How are you feeling today?
Andie xx
-
LOL you cheeky girl! I read your post and the look on my face would have been priceless I swear!!! A cross between shock and envy!! :cryinglaugh:
All going great today, feeling great, and the weather is *****. Just got a call from a good friend of mine and she is being induced tonight........wooopeeee!!! So that's made my day.....not so long ago we were both TTC here on BB.......

OMG I just typed a whole massive post and it got deleted before I could add it!:wall::wall:
So annoying!! I don't have time to rewrite it atm so I'll come back online tonight.
:wall:
Hope everyone is well!
-
LOL Bec and Andie! I was the same...My gosh what a champ Andie is!!! Oh wait....You big tricker! You really had me going and boy was I jealous!! I've lost 4 kgs. My pre baby pants are still taunting me from the cupboard tho! Few more kgs to go before they will fit again! I've made a friend at the gym. She has a 4 month old so we are spurring each other on. It is really great! Andie, good luck shifting those kgs, I'm sure you will be looking stunning when you go to Tas!
I've started giving Flynn some Farex. He kind of enjoys it! He screws his nose up a bit, it's pretty funny! I got a big shock the other day. I went into the lounge to find DH giving Flynn some peanut butter toast!!! Thankfully he is NOT allergic to peanut butter, DH is totally clueless about some things!!!
Flynn has rolled over a total of 3 times front to back and 1 time back to front! His latest trick is to pull his legs up underneath him so he looks like a frog and also to straighten his legs and stick his bottom into the air so he looks like a little tent! It's pretty funny to watch!!
Mel I'm glad that you are finally having some success with James and sleep! That is wonderful to read!I hope it is continuing and getting even better!
Allboys did you give the Farex a go? Yeah I don't understand why they changed the rules! My mum has been saying since 3 mths "he needs solids"!!!
Hayley  hope you and DH are going ok  :clap:good on you for being so passionate about BF!
Laura  I hope you are doing better and that Sam is giving you a bit of a break. I'll see you soon!
Bec Good on you for relactating! I'm so glad that it has worked for you and your routine seems to be great! The weather is freezing here too, and rainy. We have clothes horses too!! My dad also made me a rack so I hang all of the stirts etc on coat hangers and then hang them on the rack so i don't need even more clothes horses!! We have on space heater so our options aren't that great.
Ok Girls sorry if I've missed anyone Flynn is crying I better go get him

Hi everyone,
Well I can't believe it is saturday already, another week over. I have been mainly lurking these past 2 weeks or so, Dusty seems really unsettled so I haven't had a real chance to reply... so I am going to post in bits...
Jo, I can't imagine how scary that must have been for you, thank goodness you were going into give her a feed... I hope the EEG scans come back clear but it must be scary not really knowing what caused it?? hopefully it was just something to do with her cold. I have been thinking of you especially with Riley's operation coming up, I am sure everything will go well for you.
It is when these sorts of things happen that, even in my sleep deprived state, I am greatful for every cry, hug & moment we have with these little ones.
Hey Becstar great to hear things are improving on the b/f front sounds like you have made really good progress. Glad to hear the solids have been going well too. TBH DP would have loved to started solids already but I think because I have struggled to accept that I had to have an emergency ceasar, kinda like I failed that part, that I wanted to make sure I kept b/f for as long as possible to prove that I am a good mother. I am also scared that it may make him worse, more unsettled IYKWIM? DP can be bit of a contol freak so this is also another way for me to keep D close to me.
Mel you have inspired me, I have brochure by Karitane & because he was just 4 mnths when I got it I was following the birth to 4 mnths guidelines, as he will be 5 mnths on Mon I am going to try the 4 mnths to 7 mnths & see how that goes. I had limited success (mainly through the day so at least I get some peace & can get things done or have a sleep too) so now he is a little older hopefully it will work better.
Well the little monkey is awake now so it is time for me to go... will be back later...

Well I tried the Farex and although he loved "eating" it I dont think he was too impressed with the taste of it. Its just the plain one and I have been too lazy to try him again. I think I will mix it with a bit of pureed pear or just give him the pear by itself and sooner rather than later because he has been waking twice a night now which is torture. 1.30am and again at 4.00am on the dot! I can set my alarm by him and this has been for 5 nights now so im thinking he has gotten himself in a routine there.
I can do the 1.30am but again at 4 is not cutie cutie. At least the olympics are on though so I dont have to watch another bloody pro-activ infomercial.:wall:
I try to make sure he has a good feed the first time but usually we both fall asleep (I wake up with my boob freezing and him in my lap snoring!:asleep:) This makes me think he is not all that hungry but that he is used to waking at that time so he is and im not strict enough with him at that time to let him cry it out.
Oh the joys huh, I know it wont last though, I look at my 11yr old now and cant even remember the sleepless nights he put me through.
I joined the gym this morning with a friend I have actually have met off here, she lovely and like me needs someone to get her out pounding the pavement and sweat it out with. I am hoping that I am going to lose 15kg in 2 weeks before we go back to NZ for our holiday. What do you think of my chances?
-
o.k back again he is asleep & waiting for tea to cook (roast chicken & veges yumyum, thanks DP) now where was I...
While I think of it I want to thank each & everyone of you (& the BB community in general) for sharing so much with us. I find that while we have different ways of doing things we are still very supportive of each other choices. I don't know how many times someone has brought up a topic & I have been thinking about it as well or going through something similar. I find that we are pro-choice so while I may or may not do what you are doing I am greatful that you have shared your experiences as it gives perspective to what we are all going through. I find that while all babies are individuals & different there are enough similarities to know we are basically going through the same thing.
So :grouphug:
enough of the airy fairy crap for now... ;)
I think the weight thing is a never ending journey... I tried the gym a few times before getting pregnant but I am finding it hard enough to have a shower everyday let alone get to the gym a few times a week, how are you managing it?? I can't seem to get my head around feeding & sleeping time to fit that kind of thing in? but I need to start doing something. I did loose about 10 - 12 kgs in about 18 mnths before I got pregnant and I maintained it for a few months but then I got pregnant & I am back to where I started. At least I have done it once so I can do it again. I find that I am always hungry & because I am b/f I am consious (sp?) that I need to eat to keep up my supply but I think if I drop my daily chocolate hit that might help
well he only had a 20 min catnap & won't go back to sleep so gotta go but I will be back...

I hear you all on the weight. I still have a few kilos to go until I fit in my pre-preg pants but am getting there. I should do Wii fit more ane eat better. One pair of pants has gone from me not being able to get them past mid thigh:redface: to done up, just, they look disgusting and I have a major camel toe:rolleyes:, but progress has been made. I think my shape has changed. I am much more pear shaped, at least at the moment. I was an hourglass with a tendancy to be bottom heavy but now am more pear. I have flabby arms too, need to work on that soon. I have lost weight this week while being sick, I think because I have not been eating as much and have not been near the bakery . I did fix that though yesterday and had to have a chocolate donut. YUM
It's just so hard being home all the time and biscuits go so well with tea and you have to have some in case visitors drop in. OF course I do the shopping so I shouldn't buy crap, but it just tastes too good.
I am still sick, as is E. Poor lovey. His second tooth is coming through too. He is pretty snuffly and coughing. As for sleeping, I am not exactly sure how many times I was awake or even when I fed, still a half asleep. I think it was 10ish, 1230, and 4, and 7 with a resettle at 230. Maybe more not sure. the other nithgt he slept from 730 - 2. OMG I felt so good yesterday. I had about 4 hours solid sleep, I went to sleep around 9 but the phone rang at 130:rolleyes:. Happens sometimes. My lovely DH tried to give him a bottle at 12ish? but His Royal Monkeyness decided he didn't want that. BEing picky but normally doesn't have a problem.
I hope you are all getting more sleep, or more than me, but that wouldn't be hard:cryinglaugh:. Take care of yourselves and remember you are doing a fantastic job

Luey, glad to hear you had some sleep even if it was only for 1 night. Sorry that you & E are sick, it doesn't make it easy when they are grumpy & you don't feel well either. Good to hear that your DH is being supportive.
About falling asleep for the 4 am feed, ours is normally about 3 am & I am so use to falling asleep that I take a blanket & cover us so I am not so cold but as the little darlings are getting bigger & wriggling I have to stop. My solution is to read a book, TV doesn't work for me but I have found that if I read a book I don't fall asleep. I also thought, like you All-boys, that DS wasn't really feeding then just wanted to snuggle with mum but when I stay up I find he is dream feeding so my DS still needs this feed at this stage. I read that at this age because they are so distracted through the day they don't always feed properly so that is why they still feed a few times overnight to make up for it.
For those breastfeeding I have been lurking in the BB Breastfeeding General Chatter thread & have found it helpful so take a look sometime https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...eeding-solids/
Funfact about breastfeeding: did you know breast milk has stem cells ;)
O.k one last thing before I go as it is nearly midnight...
Why can't men play nice & just get along, don't they know their lives would be soo much easier & they maybe more likely to get what they want
see you tomorrow...

Oh my ! Our thread was the top of the list!! Haven't we been a busy lot!
I have a total of 16 threads to look through, I am going to do my absolute best to reply to you all.
First I'll fill you in on what's been going on here.
Well... Sam has been a lot better at night! in the last for night he has slept for at least 4.5 hours and two of the night he did his world record of 6.5!I cannot tell you how relieved I am! He is still being a total monster when it comes to day tome naps, but at least I have a little more energy to deal with it.
We have been giving him tiny bits of solid food, just a little rice cereal and a bit of mashed pear.He loves it and cries when I take it away.We aren't doing it on a schedule or anything like that, just whenever I get a chance.
I have just received my first cloth nappy order too,so cute and they work so much better than I expected!
I have been doing Ok, I had a really bad night on Friday. But thats the first in a while.
I went to the Emotional Support Group and BB Preg Center yesterday for the second time.It was a lot better this time as a few more people showed up.
Hayley - I completely agree with your stance on breastfeeding.I fought so hard with doctors to do it when I was diagnosed with PND.They all thought it was better for me to stop so I would have less stress and be able to go on better medication.I think if I had of stopped it would have been the beginning of the end for me though. At the time it was the one good thing I could do for him, the one way of bonding.I'm so glad I didn't stop.I hope to BF for 24 months if Sam lets me!
Bec - Than you for your kind words about my PND.I decided when I joined that I was not going to hide it.I wanted this to be a place where I can get support and be honest.I have hidden it from so many people in my life that I just needed to get it out somewhere.
glad to hear you are having some success with the BFing! thats great to go a whole day with no bottle! How has it been the last few?
Andie - You make me laugh! Sounds like me with exercising! I have been so lazy! I Lost 25 Kg in the first 6 weeks after birth because I couldn't eat or sleep and was constantly anxious. It sounds good but the thing is, I'm now slowly piling it back on!And I seriously need to do some toning up! I have so much bloody skin it's not funny!
How are you coping now that your parents are gone?
Karen - I hope you guys are feeling a bit better and that you have had a little more sleep!
I can't believe E his already getting his second tooth! I have a feeling Sam might be going to get his first very soon. When I feel in his mouth there is quite a hard lump and his cheeks have been so red lately.
All-boys - lol, gotta love pro active! The other one I enjoy is Sheer cover! Hope the sleeping is going better for you too.And good on you for joining the gym.It sounds to me like you're one step ahead of the rest of us.
Nic - What a lovely post! I feel the exact same way about BB, who knows where I would be without it.And yep, I agree about the Men thing! Mine is being rather annoying lately.
 I really hope all is OK over there.
Catherine - My Melbourne Buddy, look forward to seeing you and the gorgeous Flynn very soon.
Well, I think that's everybody! I'm was meant to go out today and meet another BB friend and just realised my very annoying Dh has taken the pram in his book to work(he works an hour away) I did ask him 3 times to get it out yesterday.Pity I can;t get too annoyed it's his 30th Birthday today.
I am going to slowly back away from the computer now or I'll end up hijacking the entire thread!
Hope you're all well.
Laura xx
P.s I'm moving house on Friday so if I don't get a chance to post before then I might be off line for a few days to a week.xx:)
Wow, that was so much longer than I meant it to be.

HAPPY 5 MONTH BIRTHDAY TO JAKE TOO!
Lots af the baby's are born with in a few days of each other.Poor little Sammy being the youngest.Born at 1:25pm on the 31st.
-
E is about 3 hours older than Sam:lol:
HAppy 5 months birthday to Jake, Flynn and Dusty
LAura - Woo on the sleeping. Our day sleeps got better, as in he would have them and our night sleeps have completely gone out the door. I am usally waking about 2hourly overnight after midnight. Not always a feed every time. I am hoping it will improve soon. I might move to a sleeping bag when he is better. I have tried one on and off but he keeps knocking the dummy out. I want to get rid of it but I don't - does that make sense?
Mel - pics are gorgeous. Clever Emily. Is hard to see james for the bubbles. WE tried solids a few weeks ago but I stopped them after 3 days. E was waking from a sleep after 30mins, not unusual, but ended up squealing and seeming like he was in pain. He also stopped pooing a couple of times a day to every second. Even with the formula top ups he had been doing lots still , at least once a day. It is only the last few days that he is a poo machine once more :cryinglaugh:. Maybe he needs them due to the frequent night waking but am scared to try them again, maybe in another few weeks.
Hi to everyone else, feeling lazy here so sorry not more personals
