Hi All
I hope no one minds me dropping in on this thread now, I think I posted once or twice before but my brain can't remember. My DS Will was born March 31st at 9:15 pm after a 14 hour induced labor, ended up with an emergency c/s :( though.
I am just curious to know if anyone else with a bub this age is starting on solids yet? I have read a few posts about some of you using rice cereal etc and pear. How are people finding it? DS has been eating at least 2 meals a day for the last week or so. Usually farax with pureed pear/apple in the morning and a veg at night (carrot, pumpkin or sweet potato). I have found he prefers what I make over the jars though there is an apple custard in one of the organic brands that he looves! He is down to 4 bottles a day of 240 ml which is one less them before we started solids.
He was a part time booby baby (night feeds) but weened himself 6 weeks ago. It was a sad time but nothing I did could make him take the nipple. I saw a dr about it but he said that there wasn't much I could do. All I have left now are a few sad drops :boohoo:. I miss my little new born, when did he get so big?
-
Macca,
Welcome back! We would love to have you back.:)
You have the youngest now! You have the 3rd Ds to in this group to be born on the 31st!
I am so sorry that Bfing didn't work out for you.I imagine it would have been a very sad day.
As for the solids, I have only just started about 5 days ago.My DS LOVES it.He is not a fan of Farex though, he seems to only want to eat mashed pear.He is not eating that much at this stage, just a table spoon here and there. He is still having as much milk as before.Mind you, I think my DS would eat all day long if I let him.
I was looking at photos of Sam when he was just born last night and I just cannot believe how much he has grown. It feels like just yesterday he was born.
xx Laura

I am so ghlad I'm not the only one who is so sad about them growing up :( I just cant even fathom that Jake is the last in our family :( I'm 100% positive DH will not budge on that.
Welcome Macca....nice to have you back! Sorry about the BF. Glad Will is enjoying his solids :)
Oh Im having such trouble typiunf....LOL. Sorry! Jake is sitting here and bouncing and grabbing my hands and trying to chew on me! Kids atdaycare so I'll be back when Jake is having a catnap! xxx
-
Thanks for the welcome back. It's nice to be able to chat with others who's bubs are around the same age.
As for solids Will is defiantly a pear and apple man, I think it is because they are so sweet. I put him onto solids after he stopped breastfeeding as he was going through so many bottles. I have to hide the fact I'm feeding him solids from our CHN who insists he doesn't need solids till 6 months. She doesn't know how hungry he gets, lol.
Anyone making their own food yet?
-
Ok, Jake's in bed, the house is still a mess but i need to do this....;)
Macca, I always make my own baby food, I just can't justify the cost of buying it. It's no hassle anyway, I just cook extra when we have veggies and then puree them and freeze them. I work on the principle if I wouldn't eat it why should they? lol. I only use Farex for probably a week and then move on to 'foods'. That's why Jake has 1 weetbix (with hot water and a little milk) for brekkie and at the moment is having a mix of pumpkin, potato and sweet potato for tea. YUM! I need to get my butt into gear and try fruits though....might start giving him lunch soon, he's been having two solids a day for about 3 weeks now.
Luey, bummer about the sleeps. E likes to keep you on your toes huh? Can't let Mummy get too comfy..lol. We use a sleeping bag for Jake at night, makes it easier when I get him out of bed too, he isn't so cold and I don't have to bother about trying to wrap him to keep him warm. Also helps for dream feeding in bed, I don't have to worry about him not having covers to keep him warm and then stress about them being too close to his face. Dummies are funny things. I remember with Ben and Chloe putting the dummy in numerous times a night. But Jake just spits his when he's asleep and doesn't bother about it again. Ben just gave his up at about this age when he had a shocking cold and couldn't breathe and suck at the same time! Chloe only just got ris of hers last Christmas. IMO if it makes them happy and calms them let them keep it. Although I do understand the frustrations!! lol
Laura I too am SO sad at the NB phase gone.....:(. On the solids Jake is a massive pig and eats around 6-7 tblsp veggies at night!!
Njd thanks for the info on BF....I'll have a look when I get a chance! I had wondered about night feeding. My other two slept the night through by now but they were both FF so I don't know if that makes a difference of not.
All-boys good on you for the gym! I just don't know how i'd get out and I don't have many RL friends here to go with either! I need to do it badly though.....
Mel, how are you going with James and the Karitane rules? I think you are such a legend for it, I just have no backbone! How's the ankle going?
Hayley  for you. You give so much and are so generous, I really hope you get all you deserve.
Andie, good luck for the next few weeks then!! Now I need to lose weight for a wedding....UGH! the fitting is this saturday though...what do you think my chances are?? :cryinglaugh:
Catherine, LOL at the peanut butter toast! They can be so clueless sometimes!!
Well I took Jake the the MCHN today and got him weighed, he's 6.3kg so he's put on 300g in 3 weeks. That makes me happy given in that time we've dropped the formula and taken up solids so all seems to be going well. I got some fluffy mail I've been waiting on for weeks too, YAY!! Who was it that said they bought their first MCN?? Warning....you will become addicted!! They work so great I have had NO problems. When we went away the other weekend I bought sposies for Jake, damn things leaked and leaked and leaked, especially at night and I was changing him when he woke which is not what I usually do in cloth. So I love cloth too!! :D
Got my Dr's appointment for my IUD next week, my 6 week check. All seems to be ok but I've had non-stop spotting. Was to be expected but is still a pain. Other than that I can't fault it and it should settle soon I hope. Best go clean up while the kids are away and Jake is still asleep! :o

Oh! I meant to tell you all too....Jake is rolling! Like over and over! So cute as when you say to him "Jaaaaaake? Where are you going?" He gets this wicked little grin on his face, lol. But bad as he is on the move now and head to all the places he shouldn't! Anyone else on the move?
-
Bec - I just started using MCN! I am already addicted! The look so cute! Sam has finally begun rolling again today as well! He did roll twice at 3.5 months but didn't do it again until today.:)
-
William is rolling from his front to his back both ways and on his back he arches and bends in such a way that it looks like he might but so far no glory. I have the video camera on stand by so with any luck we will catch on film for dad (DH has been away since Will was 9 weeks old and won't be back till he is 6 months, bloody army!). I have been making my own food as well but he gets the odd jar if I run out. Am still trying to get textures right though, lol.
-
Laura, what did you get? I've just discovered Itty Bittys.......so fluffy!!
Macca, DH is away? Oh that sucks. You are doing a great job on your own :) As far as textures go I really think just as smooth as you can get it is fine. My first two I didn't have a blender so I just mashed it up with a fork. It did them fine and in fact the smaller lumps were probably better because they got used to it where as Jake's is pureed so it's really smooth. As long as they aren't big enough to choke them I think you're in the clear ;)
Gosh, look at me....don't post properly for ages and now you can't get rid of me!!

Hi all,
Macca - welcome back! Sounds like Will is a happy, healthy little fella. I just can't get over how many boys there are in this thread. Isabella and Seraya are going to have their pick of them in about 17-odd years (:excited:)
Becstar - for Jake rolling! I haven't had Cam weighed for the past two weeks as I haven't been feeling the best, but I'll take him back to the CHN next week. I'm actually interested to see how he's going because over the past few days he's been a bit wishy-washy on the boob - only taking one breast, and then only for 7-8 mins (he used to have both boobs, approx 20 mins per feed). This is happening every morning, in particular. However, Cam's not grizzling for more milk in between his three hourly feeds, so I can only presume he's getting enough. How's the lovely (Princess) Mary ...? I see she popped off to the local chemist today for some Huggies! Sigh ... what's a Taroona girl to do when the world press is following her around the Hobart 'burbs?
Laura - for Sammy rolling too! Poor old Cam's stuck on one speed at the moment ... flat on his back. He rolled for the first time two weeks ago, but we're still waiting for a repeat perfomance. I'm sure he'll do it again when he's ready.
Luey - how are you and E feeling? Hope you have some luck with E's sleeping soon .
Njd - Has Dusty settled down again? Glad to hear you find BB helpful. I'm thankfull I found the site and I agree that it's a great support network. Obviously nothing replaces RL friends, but not all RL friends understand the ins and outs of having a new baby, either.
Mel - how are you and James? Getting some sleep?
All-boys - woo hoo, you gym champ! Good for you! How's the pureed pear going?
Off the subject of babies for a sec, has anyone else been watching the Olympics? This is the first time I've watched it in years, so I'm actually enjoying it.
Have a good night everyone.
Andie xx
Oh, and Bec ... good luck with the dress fitting. I have every confidence that you'll look gorgeous on the day ;).
-
Bec - I have tried Baby Beehinds - not a great fit on Sam, seems to leek the second they go on. Bum genius - Work great but not that cute! Cushie Tushies Couture - Quite like these, although he is in between spap sizes so the aren't fitting that well ATM. And Bubblebubs - So fluffy and soft! The look soooo cute and work really well on him.
Next order I think I'm going to try the Ittibitti's and Blueberry's they both look so soft!
I think DH is going to have a heart attack when he sees the credit card bill! But hey, it will save in the long run!
Also got some Baby Legs the other day and I tell you what...Sam looks so CUTE!
I think I could talk all day about these nappies! I'm utterly obsessed!:D

HI Girls
All is good on the home front. We had no other problems with Isabella . Riley is going to hospital on Friday to have his grommets put it. I am hoping that will stop him from whinging . The other morning he got up at 6am and started whinging by 7.30am. I thought great I am going to be in a long day, as it turned out it wasn't so bad.
As for Isabella, I haven't started her on solids yet. I probably could as Riley started solids at 5 months. I love the way baby nurses say not to start baby on solids til 6 months but not all babies are the same.
Isabella is down to 2 bf a day and the rest of the feeds is formula. I am doing this so I don't get mastitis like I did with Riley when I weaned him at 6 weeks.
I have a like porky of a daughter  I had her weighed just over a week ago and she packed on 810g in 2 weeks and now weighs 6.09kg.
Isabella is trying really hard to roll over but I think she is too fat to get there.
The kids and I are flying to SA at the end of November for 2 weeks. I am really looking forward to that as it will be the first time that my family (other then my mum) and friends have seen Isabella. We were planning to drive over for Christmas but things are tight in the money department because we are building a house and have to pay 2 mortgages off.
I had better go as I can hear Riley dropping spoons into the sink.
Its really good to hear that all the other Mums and their Babies are doing so well in our little group
Take Care
Jo

Welcomeback MAcca - You are doing so well with your DH away.
I am so tempted to get some MCN. A local girl uses peapods and is happy with them, jsut for at home. Which I think is what I would do. I have 6boxes of huggies to use first though :p. I stocked up when we were in the city and they were on special I. Durig my pregnancy I really wanted to use them but am glad I haven't yet, I would not have managed in the early days at all. WE are on rainwater so I need to make sure we have lots of water before I commit. I won't wash them with other clothes, I know others do but that is not for me. Plus we have a front loader and it takes 2 hours to go through. Sometimes I have enough trouble keeping up with the normal washing:rolleyes:.
Hi Bec, Andie, Laura and njd and everyone else.
We are feeling much better. I am still coughing though and a bit of a runny nose. E didn't seem to get it too bad but I think I will buy a vaporiser when we are in the city.
He hardly slept yesterday, was out all day, so only had 3 or 4 catnaps of 30mins during the day. he slept from 6-8, had a feed, I topped him up with formula then he slept till 12 where I resettled him, should have fed him then. E woke again at 1, had a feed then 550am. WOOOO. That is a really good night for us at hte moment:lol:.
I forget who asked but E is spending much less time at the boob, sometimes will only have one and if I try to attach him to the second will scream. I leave him a while and he will usually have more. He is abig boy, he knows where it comes from . So funny as soon as I pull my boob out he is frantic and will latch on even if I am not ready. I have learnt to get in the right position first.
When he was last measured almost 2 weeks ago he was 6.98kg, length 66cm and HC of 44cm. My all in one 00 suits will only fit for another month or so. Some not even that long.
-
hi girls,
i dont have time for personals now but have 2 questions to ask
firstly James has started biting me while on the boob, at first i would sternly say NO to him and take him off and his bottom lip would drop and he would start screaming but now when he does it he thinks its the funniest thing on earth and does it as soon as i put him near it, does suck at all just goes straight to biting so i take him off and put him back on and he does the same thing over and over, its to the point he is having formula beccause he wont suck on boob just bite, any advice ? im sure his teeth are probably moving aorund but geez there is only so much a girls nipple can take !
secondly he has a tiny little freckle near his elbow, has had it for about a month and i dont know if i should be concerned about it, his skin has never been exposed to sun so i dont understand it, any thoughts on that ?
thanks
Melinda
-
Mel, I am clueless on the biting but am interested in seeing what others have to say. Jake has done it to me a few times and I'm expecting it more and more as he teethes. The freckle.....hmm...I wouldn't be concerned unless it is raised or getting bogger or anything. Only because I know Ben and Chloe have got freckles in places I know aren't exposed to the sun. I guess they just happen!
Laura, yay on Sam rolling too :D Sam must be a funny fit or Jake is really a OSFM () cos I've never had any trouble with any of those. In fact Jake wears BBB's to bed at night.I love my BG's, like you said not very cute but they are so easy and great for DH's and babysitters. I use mine a lot in the mornings when I'm foggy, LOL. Would love to see a pic of the Baby Legs? i haven't tried these yet but am thinking on them......;). Have you been to Nappycino?
Luey, glad you are feeling better. On MCN, I don't find it too much extra washing, most days I do two full loads (I have a big 8kg washer too) and then a small nappy load. I can get away with washing every 2nd day but my nappy bucket is over flowing! Depending on what you use determines the washing amount too. All-In-Ones are obviously bulkier and take up more washer room but I find if I use fitted nappies and covers then my bucket doesn't fill up quite as quick cos I don't need to wash the covers each nappy change, I just interchange two all day. I guess as water is an issue even if you just used MCN a couple of days a week so you only had to wash them a couple of times a week instead of every day you would still notice a difference in your wallet!
Jo, glad Isabella is doing well and that she has packed on so much weight! lol. Jake packed it on too when he went to formula. Your trip home sounds lovely, I'll bet you are looking forward to it. Best of luck for Riley Friday. Even though it's a fairly common surgery it is still hard to see your child in hospital, so  for you.
Andie, you know I am SO ignorant!! I had no clue that HRH was even here!! :cryinglaugh: I had to read your post a couple of times then ask DH!! On the 'boob time' Jake is the same and it was worrying me. Ever since we have relactated he has NEVER fed for 20min, not even both sides. He will feed for maybed 15 minutes all up and sometimes not even that much. If he is still on there it's only cos he is comfort sucking and not the big deep sucks for milk.
Anyway, that's it for me, I'm off to try and get the house in order before I top up Jake for the night. I'm returning all the pump equipment to the LC soon (I bought one myself off ebay v. cheaply!) and I would love to do/give her something relatively inexpensive but special to say thankyou for all her amazing support. I was going to include a pic of Jake but I was hoping one of you would have any ideas?? I don't wanna go OTT as it is a professional relationship and her job but I need and want to show my appreciation.
nighty night!
xxx
-
Bec - I gave my LC a card that had DS foot print on it and wrote it too her from DS (using my left hand for effect :)). She loved it. Wasn't too over the top but at the end of the day while your relationship with your LC is a professional one it is also personal. Hope you find something.
-
Hi mums,
Bec - sorry for the cryptic post about HRH ... sometimes I'm too smartar$e for my own good ! I've found that Cammie is now averaging 3 x 20 min BF a day, but will only feed for approx 10 mins on the other two feeds (daily total of 5 x BFs). He's happy enough in between and that's the only reason I'm not going down the path of solids just yet.
Mel - can't help you out on either question. I've had Cam give me a sharp pinch on the underside of my boob a couple of times (makes me squeal like a little girl!) but have yet to experience a bite. Cam's got a freckle on his tummy that appeared a couple of weeks after he was born. Paed saw it and wasn't concerned.
Luey - sounds like you're shopping for 0 sizes too. Cam's now in 0 all-in-one suits, but still fits 00 tops and footlegs trousers ok. How our babies are growing :cryinglaugh:!!
Jo - hope all goes well with Riley (am sure it will). Isabella sounds like she's gorgeous. Cam's rolled once with no sign of a repeat. Glad to hear things are ok at home too.
Hi laura, njd, all-boys, macca and co.
Question from me ... are your bubs still facing backwards in the car? I don't think Cam's ready to turn around yet - I understand they need to have really good neck control and be approx 9kg before facing forwards. Those of you with older kiddies ... does this sound right? we're driving down to Adelaide in mid September and I'm tempted to turn Cam around, but not at the risk of serious injury (or, God forbid, worse) just for the "sake" of us seeing him a little more easily from the front seat.
Andie xx

Just a quick reply,
Mel, about the biting my mum & MIL have warned me about it & suggested either flicking them on the cheek or on the foot, they swear I only have to do it twice & they won't do it again. I haven't been faced with that yet so I am not sure what I am going to do, if you decide to try it let me know how you go.
About the freckle, even when we have them outside in the shade they are exposed to the sun-rays that cause cancer, so you can still get freckles even if you are never in direct sunlight but are outside. Those rays can also penetrate clothes etc.. which is why they can appear in spots that never see the sun.
Andie, With our car seat I am able to face Dusty forwards after 8 kgs so I could but TBH if the worst was to happen I figure if he is facing rearwards his body wouldn't jerk/fly forwards as bad, I figure he is 'safer' at the moment to face backwards but I know what you mean about being able to see them especially on such a long drive. I have seen a mirror you can put on the back window so you can see them.
Welcome Macca79, I am glad the solids are going well.
Goodluck with your move Laura.
I won't talk about his sleeping, it has settled a bit & I don't want to jinx it. The good stuff. D is blowing rasperries like there is no tomorrow, he is rolling from side to side but not all the way over yet. Thank god I do not want my boy to grow up. I get roused on cause I am not giving him enough tummy time but if I do then he would be crawling & then walking & I just can't handle it & he is only my first, I hate to think what I will be like with my last one.
Thinking of you Jo & goodluck for Fri
Anyway time for bed, sorry if I have missed anyone...
-
I everyone.
Just a quick one from me. Andie re the car seat. There was a thread on here somewhere with a link to a youtube video about why it is best to have them rearward facing for as long as possible. I don't have time to find is sorry but after watching it I will definitely be keeping our seat rear facing for as long as possible!
Seeya girls :)

a bit off topic
I'm not sure who mentioned it but about the olympics, I have enjoyed it more this year then ususal but I am not much of an athletics fan so not looking forward to that. The opening ceremony was amazing but I couldn't stay up to look at it.
I have found a new 'toy'. I have heard of BB live chat but as I am new to all this forum/chat thing I couldn't work it out. Well now I have woo hoo I am a bit excited, I was on there last night for a little while with some very lovely ladies who really cracked me up. If we are online together I would love to chat sometime, PM me or something :p
-
Andie I have heard it is best to keep them rearward facing as long as possible. Some carseats go up to 12kg - the MEridian (by SNS) andanother of theirs. Could you buy a mirror so you can see him more easily? You can get some teddybear ones or boring rectangle ones. I swear everyone thought they were a great idea when E was born - I think we got 2 or 3 and we don't use any. We have a stationwagon and there isn't really anywhere to affix it safely - and without blinding the oncoming driver.
Jo- I forgot to say Isabella is doing really well When I started top ups E put on lots too, but he also had a growth spurt. He tends to chub up then thin down and get taller.
Mel - Biting hurts! I have been told to say "NO, that hurts mummy and look away". Since E has had his teeth he does it lots, especially when he decides he isn't hungry so will just play. The first time, it hurt but the little brat had this huge cheeky grin and I am trying to tell him off and he was just looking so cute. I was trying not to laugh. HE is growing up too fast and already knows all the tricks to get out of trouble. There have been worse bites though where I haven't laughed. Not much I can suggest that you aren't already doing. MAybe put him o nthe floor and walk away and give him a plastic spoon or chew toy and say you bite this not mummy? Would be hard to do though and although they are young I am sure they know. Nipples are poorly designed - they need bite guards around them and need to be even stretchier. Man it is amazing how much they can stretch:rolleyes:. I sometimes have to remind E to detach before he stickybeaks around. Goodluck. I know they say not to as it could interfere with feeding but could you put bonjela on his gums before a feed? It might soothe them enough to stop him biting.
We went out to friends for dinner last night, first time we had gone out to someones place in a while. I was wondering if I should take the portacot and was seriously considering buying a kinderkot but he eventually went to sleep in the pram from about 8ishpm, till I had to wake him just before midnight:). the pram worked out well because we could 'rock' him. He was really really good. LEts hope he is just as good next time
Gee I can ramble
HAve a great day everyone
-
Hi all how is everyone today?
Well Scout has taken to this solids things like a duck to water. He loves veges!:D Long may that last. He is having dinner about 5ish and also a few teaspoons of fruit for breakfast. The first night he had them he slept from 8-30pm till 5 the next morning, Woohoo! I of course was awake every hour checking him  So the next night I was thinking we were in for a good nights sleep but no. Scout was to have other ideas and has not repeated it for me again. I want my baby that sleeps through back:cryinglaugh:
11 more sleeps till we go on holiday. What a mission! Im sure Scouts luggage is going to be more than the rest of us put together. Portacot, stroller, frontpack, wraps, nappies and thats not to mention his clothes. Thank goodness we dont do it every week.
Andie I have also heard that its best to keep them rear facing for as long as possible, for the neck and back muscles to strengthen. We didnt do this with the other boys as we didnt like not being able to see them. We had the little mirrors but found they were about as helpful as tits on a bull! This time around we have bought an adore a view. Its the big teddybear mirror that attaches to the headrest and its great. It has a big 20cm mirror so you can see all of them and they can see themselves as well. Its a huge piece of mind for me and worth its weight in gold. I think it was about $50 from memory. Hope this helps.
Oh my goodness I just had a phone call from the Mater Mothers. Asking me how things are with us. She said they are sposed to do a follow up phone call between 6-8 weeks after the birth but they sometimes get a little behind  geez ya think???
Anyway have a good day ladies, hope all is well in your worlds.
-
:hooray::hooray: HOUSTON, WE HAVE A TOOTH! :hooray::hooray:
While having breakfast with his grandma this morning we found Will's first tooth! Bottom front right. Needless to say it was very exciting and lots of phone calls were made to family and friends.
We also had a drop in clinic visit today to get Will weighed. He is now 70 cm long and 8.32 kg. Sadly though he was in the only OO body suit that still fits him. Last week I had to pull out all his O's. He even has a pair of pants that are a 1 that he fits into. Where did my 'little' baby go I wonder :dunno:.
Hope everyone else is going well.
-
No time for personals as we are about to start loading up the truck.
I spoke to Telstra yesterday and the are going to be connecting the Internet on Wednesday.I know that pretty fast but how am I going to cope 5 whole days with out the net!!
I'll speak to you all soon.xxxx

Hi Ladies,
Sorry probably not much of a post from me, I'm so tired. Been having issues with Ben lately, he is really out of character and it's really starting to worry me. So much so i'm thinking of asking my friend who's a psychologist to have a chat with me and him.
Macca, that is such a lovely idea, I might just 'borrow' it. :) Congrats on Will's first tooth too!! I know it is so sad how quickly they grow.....but from the looks of your sig you plan to be doing it all again :)
Laura, good luck with the moving, not fun with a baby! And 5 days is a long time with no net......5 weeks nearly killed me! ;)
Andie, no you weren't cryptic, I'm just so incredibly ignorant about current events. I don't read the paper and rarely watch the news, so I live in lala land! DH is always telling me how bad I am for not knowing what's going on! As far as the carseat goes, again, I'm old-school but I've always turned mine around when they hit the 8kg mark. TBH I never even realised it was 'safer' to keep the rear facing either. That said, Jake will be turned around when he reaches 8kg. Totally up to you and DH :) Oh and the dress fitting never happened, rescheduled for next week. Thank goodness though, I jumped on Mum's scales and OMG I weigh 3kg more now than I did when Jake was 3 weeks old!! WTF???
njd I haven't managed to use BB chat yet, one day! But sure, I'd love to chat to any of you gals!! I think it's so sweet you really don't want bubs to grow up :) I remember waiting desperately for all the 'firsts' with Benji and now I just wish I could have my time over again.
Luey, glad you had a nice night out, it feels good just to do something 'normal' again doesn't it?? How is E going with his top ups?
All boys, your holiday sounds lovely but I agree, packing is a nightmare, especially with a little one! Where are you going? Good on Scout for loving his veggies!
Mel, how are you doing? Jo, I see on FB that Riley is doing well?? Who else am I missing? Reenie? Rustygirl...I'm sure there are a few more missing.....:) Hi to all.
xxx

Hi Bec - I hope Ben is ok. E is going well, we don't top up that often. Every couple of days now and it is usually only about 40mls. I am usually prepared to top up when we go out but last night I had some formula left over when when I made cereal and DH offered it before the boob and he wouldn't take it. Little monkey. Now I have concerns about him when we go out and leave him with a bottle of formula. I guess if he is hubgry enough he will drink it:redface:. It is just easier when we go away to leave a bottle if he gets hungry and we are never gone for that long. He would survive.
How is the boobie feeding going now? How is his sleeping/settledness
I can't believe E is almost 5 months. where has the time gone. I am liking 4-5months, it is so much more interesting though, but I don't really want him to grow up. It will be 3ish years before/if we have another. Macca, Will is doing really well. Wooo on the tooth. The next one won't be far away.
All boys - glad Scout likes his solids and WOO on the sleep. at the moment 5ish hours is all I get if I am lucky. Oh well it won't last forever.
Hi to everyone else
We have jsut started solids again. WE had some apple today which he liked but I think it was a bit too lumpy and I rushed it, plus he was tired. He started gagging a bit. He is fine with cereal but that is pretty runny. Still working out the whole swallow thing but he opens his mouth when he sees the spoon. I will see how we go.
HAve a great afternoon

Hi everyone,
Jo, I hope things went well with Riley's operation. I have been thinking of you. I'm glad the weaning is working for you & I am glad that she is putting weight it must be a weight of your mind
Macca79 has you DH been able to come home for the weekend or have you been on your own the whole time (nearly?) I think you have done a fantastic job - while my DP may not do as much as I want him to at time I am grateful he is there. At least he should be home soon
Luey, why would he take formula when he knows there is booby around lol I bet if you are not around he would take it - cheeky monkeys. GL with the solids. The time sure is flying by - soon they will be off to school :( Good to hear that E is better as well.
All-boys, GL with your trip, looking forward to hearing how you went. Scout is now 5 mnths old woo hoo
Becstar it took me a few goes to use chat & then I realised that I had to register for that too... At the bottom of the login box there is a create a new user account link, you need to click on that to be able to use it. I hope things sort itself out with Ben, it always throws me a bit when DP is out of sorts. I hope the b/f is still going well too...
Andie, did you get around to weighing Cam? has the b/f settled down? GL with your trip.
Laura, hope your move is going well, look forward to an update when you get back online.
Mel, I hope james is out of his bad habit of biting? is the sleeping going well? how is your foot?
we are on tooth watch, DS just hasn't been himself the last couple of days, constantly grumbling & not happy. So I figured if he is getting teeth then it is time to introduce some solids. I don't want to be giving him regular meals or anything like that yet just giving him food here & there & especially rusks to help with his feet. So first of all we gave him a brocoli floret which he squeezed & sucked, as soon as he saw another one he wanted it so gave that to him as well & then we tried him with a bit of cauliflower. The look on his face was priceless as he was expecting the brocoli taste & he knew it was different - he didn't go much on that  he didn't eat a lot but he must had something as his next poo had bits of brocoli in it. Then the next night we tried some pumpkin that DP mashed up, he wasn't too thrilled with that I think cause it was cold because when we gave him a cube of pumpkin that was warm he loved it, again squished it in his fingers & sucked them like there was no tomorrow. We gave him some strawberry today but he wasn't too fussed on that & then it was time for bannana - he gummed a small amount of & he didn't like it I think cause he isn't use to the weight & wasn't sure what to do so we just fished it out. He makes me laugh. He has rolled from his tummy to his back a few times now but his best trick is sitting up, he looks so cute & each day he is more stable.
well it's aftermidnight again so I better go so final goodbyes to Reenie, rustygirl, catherinemoses, hayley & anyone else I missed

Hi again everyone. Well we still only have one tooth but I can feel the one next to it on the way. DS has been having a series of off and on days. Some days he sleeps really well others he is fussy, warm and just want to be held. He has worked out how to roll from his back to his front but now he does it every where including in his crib. I have had to go back to wrapping him just to get him to sleep. I had been getting up 6 times a night just to put him on his back again as he wont sleep on his tum and can't roll back yet. It's all very frustrating at times :wall:.
njd - It was great chatting to you the other night. Sadly no DH is not home on the weekends as he is in QLD and we are in the NT. Both my mum and MIL have been here at different times and while it helps me out when it comes to chores I think I prefer it when it is just DS and I as we have a really good routine. Sounds like your little man is really enjoying his introduction to solids. Im looking forward to hearing how it all goes.
laurab - Hope the move has gone ok for you and that your back online soon. When I lost my modem signal for 3 days I thought I would die without it . Its funny how when your home so much the net really becomes an outlet.
becstar - Sorry to hear you and Ben are having problems . I hope your friend is able to help you out.
luey - Sounds like your having fun with introducing solids as well. Hope it all goes well.

Hi all,
Just a quick post to say hi. Had Cam weighed yesterday and he was 7.5kg, so he's put on almost 400g in the past two weeks. Not bad considering his on-and-off booby efforts lately. It's still the same - some feeds he will, others he won't. But, main thing is he's still happy and content (and sleeping through the night ... no, please don't hit me anyone). Have decided to start him on solids at the weekend (would like DH to be part of the inaugural "Solids Adventure", hence the weekend start ;)). Am thinking rice cereal to start, then moving on to vegie mash.
Bec - how's things with Ben?
Mel - any change with James' biting?
Macca - on the tooth ... not so  on getting up 6 times a night to move Will back to his back!
Luey - how are you going with solids now?
Njd - hope the tooth pops through A-OK. Imagine broccoli poo is a sight to behold .
Laura - hope your move is going well.
Well, I've been busy on the internet over the past 2-3 weeks, virtually used up our monthly allowance. Methinks real estate dot com uses WAY too many Mbs per download. Anyway, I've promised DH to keep off the computer for a bit as we're now being charged for our extra Net usage, so if I'm not around much, you know why. Money wise, we're starting to feel the pinch of one income. Luckily we're not anywhere near the breadline, but the belt is slowly being tightened. Anyone want to support me if I run for Senate on the platform of paid maternity leave for 12 months? IF ONLY :wall:!
Catch you all later, Andie

Hi everyone!
Just a quick one for me,Telstra hasn't connected our internet, should have known that they never keep the time frames. It's now by 5pm Friday.I'm using my parents ATM.
Move went well, still bags of clothes and things to unpack.I'm feeling a little anxious about the whole thing.Just a whole new area and things.
Sam has coped quite well, much better than the cat who has been hiding in a box for the past 3 days.
Anyway, better go, my parent have timed internet.
Hope everyone is well and I'll be back to do personals when I'm up and running again.

hi girls,
thanks for all the advice of the biting and freckle, James continues to bite but maybe only once every 3rd feed now instead of 5 times each side on each feed ! still no sign of a tooth though, still havent started feeding him solids, i intended to this weekend but havent yet so will wait til next weekend i think, i did give him a rusk to try and he liked that, chewed a groove in it like a shark took a bite out of it lol
on the sleeping side of things he is sleeping great most days, having 2-3 hour sleep twice a day but nights are still a challenge, last night he slept from 530pm-930pm and then woke at 0230 for a feed and was up for the day at 515 ! pretty good for us but the early mornings are really taking it out of me !
so the latest in the tresillian saga, i decided last weekend that maybe we should go into the residential unit after all (after too many bad nights in a row) i hadn't yet cancelled our booking so we are meant to be going in on the 8th sept, however i still have my issue with them not letting me take the monitor and i tried to sort it out (read rang then mon tues wed thurs trying to get an answer) the manager makes the final decision but despite leaving message after message i havent had a phone call back so im pretty peeved with that, i wont be going because if they cant organise to phone me back to sort out an issue that is important to me i dont have much faith in their help ! (also i needed to know if the manager would agree so dh could get time off work, now its too late)
Bec: good on you having the big clothes clean up, we have so much to do, there is clutter everywhere but most of it is in the spare rooms behind closed doors so it never gets done because we dont see it all the time ! cute pic of you and Jake, he always looks so alert :-) how was the dress fitting ?
Laura: i hope you are settling in to the new place ok, how is your anxiety ?
Jo: how are Riley and Isabella going ?
Hayley: how was your trip away
All Boys: how is Scout going with his solids ? how much does he eat at a time ?
Luey: hows Ethan going with the sleeping ? i have realised that once you sort out one problem they think up something new to do and you are back to square one !
Andie: are you moving house ? is that the reason for the real estate viewing ? how did Cam go with starting solids ? cute pictures of him, he has such lovely bright blue eyes
Reenie: are you back with us yet ?
Nic: how is Dusty going with the teething ? oh by the way i think you arent meant to give strawberry until 12 months, i think it is one of those things that can cause an allergic reaction like a rash etc (although i think i gave DD it early too because i didnt know !)
Catherine: hows Flynn going ?
hi to anyone i have missed, i better go and get dinner, james is already asleep for the night stretch (even though its disturbed by feeds) i try and stretch him to go down later because he wants to get up 12 hours after he goes down, hence the 5am waking ! but he cant stay up when he really needs to go to bed

Laura, YAY for being online!! you survived then? :P How did the move go??
Mel, I can't believe Tresillian haven't gotten back to you yet! How rude and unprofessional! You'd think being the organisation they are they would be very on top of returning phone calls etc. God forbid if you were really struggling and something happened, it could very well be their fault!
Andie, did you dive into the world of solids? How did it go? I can't believe how old all the bubs are getting :) Jake is such a pig, lol. Up to three meals a day now plus rusks he devours in between. It all just happens too fast.
Macca, i stole your idea and gave my LC a card with a photo and a message written in my right hand (I'm a lefty), she loved it. So thanks :)
I moved Jake into Ben's room yesterday in a desperate attempt to get some mojo happening in our room. Things are rocky still and having nothing going on in there isn't helping at all. I just can't do it with Jake in there, he is such a light sleeper, not like the others were! We'll see how it goes. I hope it all goes ok, I know getting this part of our relationship on track is important.
Anyway, I'm happy with my cleanout today, I feel a little purged, lol. I even took the plunge and turfed all the baby clothes, and most of the ones Jake had to grown into. They were all so outdated and truth is I wasn't putting him in much of Ben's old stuff as it was so old it was hand-me-downs to him. I figure I'll just buy new. So I'd better get a layby happening before we are into 0's! lol. Nah, i think we are safe in 00's for a while. Now things are settling a little and Jake is sleeping better in the days I'm getting stuff done slowly, it makes me feel so much better.
Hope you are all doing well and bubs are making you all smile :D I love Jake's little smile and giggle, best two things in the world.

Good Morning everyone.
Again I am up before the crack of dawn! At least I get some time to myself before Sam wakes up.
You have no idea how much I missed the Internet, you really don't realise how much you rely on it until you don't have it.It was so annnoying..took 6 calls to hopeless Telstra to get it connected. You really wouldn't think it would be that hard.
I'm loving the space we have now, although I feel a little lost in the area.
I have decided with my doctor that i am going to lower the dose of my medication.I am having such bad side affects from it, night terrors and sweats.Maybe a little tmi but I have been waking up dripping in sweat and that's why I am always up so early. It is to the point that I can't stand it anymore.
It's a catch 22 though. Do I put up with it and feel almost sane or do I lower the dose and risk feeling worse? I decided to risk feeling worse to get a good nights sleep.I have been on the higher dose for 3 months now and feel I am in a better place to deal with it if things do get bad.
My doctor thinks that this medication is probably not the best one for me, but my options are so limited with breastfeeding.I cant stop the feeding though...I feel that would be the beginning of the end for me.I would be devastated. I just wish having a baby didn't do this to me.I'm so scared for next time.
As for Sam, he is being pretty good compared to how he was.The move didn't seem to affect him at all.He is getting so much personality now! I just love watching him do all these new things.
Andie - Sam is still rear facing in the car, although we are about to turn him around. He would weigh over 9kg now. That's the safe weight to turn them around ,isn't it?
Oh and I would support you 100% for senate!
Nic - Sam is doing those raspberries all night and day too.How cute is it! He even does it when he is trying to fall asleep.
About the live chat...I tried to work it out yesterday but it wouldn't let me log on?? I would love to get online and live chat with you though.
Has the tooth appeared yet? Been thinking of you.
Luey - Glad your night out went well.Must be nice knowing you can go out and not have to worry about sleeping.Fingers crossed for next time!
I like the "WE" had Apple today! Sounds like me!
Macca - Yay for the first Tooth! I don't want Sam to get one, it will mean he is growing up.
Mel - Biting...Sounds very painful. I'm glad to hear he is doing it a little less.
Good luck with the Unit.Have you found out if you can bring the monitor yet? I hope it all gets better for you.
What do they do? I mean what methods do the use? I am very interested to hear the feedback. Sam 's good night still involve at lest 4 wakings.
Bec - How are things with Ben? Having Sam in the room is an issue for me too.I can't bring myself to take him out just yet though.Mind you, I really don't think it would make that much of a difference for me anyway.I just can't bring myself to "do" it anyway.I know the depression can do that and that my meds make it worse but for me it feels like more than that.I don't know how to explain it...It makes me feel dirty, like I am doing something really really wrong. I am going to speak to my psychologist about it because it's becoming an issue for me...well us.I just don't understand why am like this.
All-boys - Enjoy your holiday, I wish it was me!
OK that's it for me. I did want to write a whole lot more but my concentration isn't that great so early in the morning and I'm worried I will start talking about some Self -Combustive Space puff System if I keep going.mmm....I had a dream last night that had that in it.It was this spaceship thing...
Love to you all

Hi everyone. I haven't been online in what feels like forever! I thionk in truth it is about 4 or 5 days but it feels like forever!
I started Flynn on solids for about a week and then I stopped giving them to him cos he was being a complete horror over night! He was waking every 2-3 hrs and he had been way better before. We had maybe a week of great nights, at least 5 hrs (once even 9hrs!!) in a row. I can handle that but anything less...don't get me started!!! I have been slowly giving him some mashed vegies while I am making dinner again, he loves it and gobbles it all up! However our nights are not that good again. I'm at a bit of a loose end with it. Anyway hopefully it will sort itself out soon. Flynn is rolling everywhere now! Every time I put him down he rolls onto his tummy. Then he gets all irritated and cries to be flipped back and then straight away is back on his tummy!! it is a little bit tedious! He can rolls front to back but doesn't for some reason! Anyway he is very cute and despite the trials and sleepless nights I am very much enjoying watching him grow up! Everything is such an adventure for Flynn. There is always something to look at and grab at and try and shove into his mouth! I think he is going to be a bit of a handful when he can crawl and walk!! Dh an I have been thinking of changing his name to kicky and flappy!!! He is always kicking his leg (quite hard, so it makes a noise) onto the floor and flapping his arms around and wriggling, gosh so much wriggling!!!
Bec I hope Jake's move into Ben's room works for you. It is definitely an important area, good luck with it! Well done on your spring cleaning! I loaded my boot up with a heap of stuff probably a month ago...feels so good!!
Mel pooh to tresillian. They are supposed to help not cause more stress! Starting the day at 530??? ARGH No thanks. I'm very lucky that Flynn is up for maybe an hour - hour and a half and then he is back to sleep for at least an hour. hope your nights get better soon!
Andie Hope you are enjoying your solids adventure!
Laura Glad the move has gone well. Hope you feel a bit more settled soon. Hopefully see you soon!
Macca Hi! Woo hoo for a tooth! Did you have all of the teething symptoms or was it a bit of a surprise?? I am hoping that teething is not going to be the drama that lots of people say it is. I'm probably dreaming tho!!
Hi to everyone I have missed. I have been on here for nearly an hour! I'd better go.

Hi! i should be turning in for bed but just had to reply to you Laura on the DTD topic.
This might seem like a whole lot of babble but I've been doing a lot of thinking about all this lately. And it's totally honest so sorry if it seems crazy, just a glimpse inside my untamed mind ;)
I see it as totally normal to feel how you do, to feel 'dirty'. i know you have other issues at play, the depression and meds etc but I also say there is a part which is SO normal. When you become a mother, your whole perception of yourself has to change. and it's damn hard. to be totally honest, only really since Jake has been born have I really felt at peace with who I am these days, and what that means. For me, I am happy being mum, but then I get a bit itchy....and I can't remember who bec is anymore, and what she thinks, feels and has to say about things iykwim? and then when i put the effort into who bec is I feel guilty for not being mum and wife. It's all too hard!! It's really difficult to mesh all the different 'beings' you need to be into one person without feeling like Jekyll and Hyde. So for me, it's only after being a mother for almost 5 years that i'm really starting to know who bec, the mother and wife really is, and that I can be one and the same. This is true about DTD too. I can understand feeling like you are doing something wrong because it's like you are a mother now and mothers don't do those things right?? I can't tell you how to change it, and I would still talk to the psychologist about it for sure but that's ust my take on it all and I just wanted to share if with you. Even if it is a whole heap of babble! :P
sorry catherine, will get bakc to you tomorrow when the kids are at daycare, Ben is doing better, thanks :)

Hi Ladies
We are doing well thanks for asking Mel.
Isabella is a little pork chop now. I have completely put her onto formula and she has packed on the weight. She gained 1.5kgs in a month. Isabella weighs 6.89kg. I don't know how long she is, I will try and get her measured tomorrow. I have tried Isabella on solids once but she gagged and havent tried again. Isabella is really good at sleeping (Riley was too and still is). I feed her about 9.30pm and she sleeps till about 5.30 - 6.30am and she will be up for 1/2 - 1 hour before she goes back to bed and sleeps till about 11am and then is up for 1 - 2 hours depending what we are doing, goes back to bed about 1ish and sleeps till about 4pm ish and goes back to bed about 5ish and sleeps till I get her up for her last feed. Isabella has rolled from front to back 3 times now but she wiggles off her mat. She loves to poke out her tongue.
Riley went really well with his grommets. He cried in recovery and I don't know if he was in pain or if she was doing a whinge but as soon as he got a sandwich and some juice, perked up if there wasn't anything wrong. He was hungry cause he ate 2 full sandwiches crusts and all and Riley doesn't eat crusts.
The ladies at daycare reckon that they have noticed a change in Riley now that he has grommets. He responses to his name being called alot quicker now. I have also notice that he interacts with other kids at playgroup which he never used to do. Riley is really good about having ear plugs put in when he is having a bath but is not so keen about having the headband on to prevent water getting into his ears when we wash his hair.
I had better go and get some work done. There is so many things that need doing in our house at the moment. Mick is doing interstate again which means he comes home every second night to sleep and that is it thru the week and he has Saturdays off. I sent Riley to the neighbours yesterday so I could spray the weeds with poison. If I had to wait for Mick to do these things the weeds will be taller then me.
Must go.
Take Care
Jo

Hi everyone!
Just a quicky from me.....
Bec, you are so right! I never thought of it like that, but it's true. The other things on top don't help but the key issue is being a mother.
I feel as if I will be "wasting" good product if I do it without ttc.lol Gosh....I am screwed up!
Anyway I better be off to make myself as undesirable as possible for when DH gets home.

Sorry! will bbl.....things are falling down around my ears here atm...damn DH's!!!
