Well done Prama! I didn't make it to 6 months, but that's coz it was getting to hard for me to try to maintain BF when I went back to work.
Jazz is still happily eating all her food at day care. Tonight I gave her a bottle and she was really happy and active so I thought I'd give it a go and put her in her highchair and offer her some more food. She ate it! It started looking like she wasn't going to finish it, but then I started doing "here comes the aeroplane, open up the hanger" with the sounds and me opening my mouth and then she would copy and open her mouth and gobble it all up! She finished half a jar! So, depending on how alert or tired she is, I will keep offering her a second feed in the evening now.
Wow, I hadn't thought about the sippy cup thing. I should probably look into getting one too. Jazz loves to try and grab the cup I use in the bath to pour water on her. I decided to let her grab it yesterday and she accidentally poured water all over her face...wasn't a very happy girl when that happened. She got a fright and splashed heaps - so much so that our poorly fitting plug came out!
She's starting to balance a bit better when sitting, but she's just so into things that she just wants to grab everything in site so she reaches and looses balance.
I was just looking at a "trolley mate" and I think I will see about getting one in the next couple of weeks, I don't like using the capsule things anymore in trolleys. I'm trying to get Jazz sitting up more (supported until she can sit by hersel obviously). We have one of those kiddie couch things for her. We lean it against an ottoman with a pillow underneath it to tilt it back slightly and a pillow next to her to help prop her up and she'll sit on that happily with all that support. She just sits there watching TV.
We've got a Bumbo for Caitlin and she loves sitting in it. She was sick of her playgym but now we can sit her in the bumbo in front of it and she sees everything from a different angle and likes to play with it again! It is also handy to take along when you go out as you can sit her in it to have her food.
Hey you know I realised something from these tickers and me saying how old DJ is.... I go by the number of weeks and then say how old he is.... So I have been saying he is 5.5 months because he is 22 weeks old..... ie. 4 weeks in a month haha I am so hopeless.... And really he is only 5 months and 2 days old haha You know I think that is why I started him on solids because I thought he was older then what he was.... Seriously I should have just gone by dates!!! oh well, he officially started solids at 4.5 months then.... which is still ok, but I thought that was 5 months hahahahahahaha
Doni sent me out with a friend of mine last night, had a great time even though I couldn't be bothered to go out. Doni thinks I am not the same and I am always stressing about DJ and he wants me to relax more. I agree but I just keep remembering about a little bubba that needs my attention the following day I ended up getting home at 3am!!!! I didn't want to drink and drive so waited it out before driving. I didn't drink too much at all, but I am always super cautious.
Jo - oh I have wanted to get one of those. My cousin sits her little one on the kitchen bench while she is preparing dinner and stuff as well. It would be good as a second high chair when out on the road.
Prama - congratulations that is such fantastic news!!!! How time flies hey??? And still breastfeeding, my hat is off to you!!! You have come along way from your earlier struggles and look at you now
Danni - the trolley mates are great, DJ loves his. I needed it for when Doni is away on country trips and I have no other way of getting my groceries but to take DJ and this way he can sit in it and look around. He loves being able to look directly at me.
Skye - OMG on the bean bag mess. I bet you still find a few beans under things in the next few weeks. I know that has happened to a friend of mine and she had a similar thing happen.
Well girls, I better get organised, catching up with some mums for a workout. Prama - we are now doing an additional one (outside of Ness teaching) down at Stanhope. Don't know how I will cope considering I have only had 3.5 hours sleep, but seriously I have coped before with DJ anyway.
I stopped counting Jazz's age in weeks once she hit 4 months. Now I say "she's 5 and a bit months" or what ever.
TGIF!
It's my youngest niece's 1st birthday tomorrow but I don't think my BIL & sister have planned anything really. My sis has had a tough week and the rest of the family is busy.
Had the radio on in the car on the way to daycare this morning and jazz started "singing" it was so cute!
I stopped counting weeks only cos i lost count hehe I have to look at my ticker now to see where we are (that's what happens with #4 how slack!)
Such a nice day......... Off to tidy the house make beds and get some washing happening, having a week where i am trying to get super organized so i can have a house that runs a bit smoother wishful thinking but worth a shot, everything is getting on top of me at the moment so trying to make life a little easier..
Once again you girls have all been busy. I hope life starts getting a little better for you Skye and Trina.
Paddy's got a sipper cup (tommee tippee I think) but he has to chomp on it like he's bf to get any water out. Used a mag mag cup with the other two and I remember the mess. They were a great transition from breast to cup though, especially the soft spout.
Haven't started solids yet. I'm waiting for 6 months. Paddy loves to watch us eat but not really fussed on doing it himself. He has sucked on a piece of mandarin and seemed to enjoy that but didn't protest when it was taken away.
Struggling to find a good excema cream. Don't want to use cortisone cream so I'm avoiding the Dr and trying all the other remedies.
thansk all for the bf wishes, i know i havent been doing it properly, exclusively but poopy's still getting something.
thanks danni! pmsl at jazz in teh bath. she's too cute!!
how's matt doing now? is he ok with his medication and all.
hmmm trolley mate sounds like a good option.. it's hard shopping with a pram and it's a bit hard pushing the trolley with a sling.
shell - lol. i was doing the same as well. counting poopy's age in weeks, and steve was doing it in months. one day at the doctor's we had a small disagreement, and then i realised i was doing it wrong. i started saying months after 4mths. no wonder ppl looked at me funny when i was still saying his age in weeks!
hey, i might be able to join you next friday at stanhope! what time is it? is it at the same place?
trina - hehe, no.1 children get all the attention!! 2nd onwards get hand me down, less attention and learn to survive on their own. steve and i are #2, and we say, this is what our older siblings got to enjoy when we see how everyone fusses over poopy!
teach - your post came up while i was typing. good to hear from you!!
Firstly Well Done Prama - after all the problems you had at the start you hae done so well you should be so proud of the effort you have made.
Just got back from the soilds talks - They only talked about bsby led weaning and played a DVD for us to watch. Glad that i was heading down the right rrack - No mashing or pureeing here, MJ will be fed the same foods as we are and she will decide what she puts in her mouth (the only exception at the mo is rice, but can you believe that they can have penut butter if there is no family history of allergies.
Apparently 2 months ago they only touched on baby led weaning, but now new research has come out of the RCH and its the only form of feeding
Prama - I asked and they said offer food 20mins after a feed... but they should be fed at the same time we sit down to eat (if possible) as they learn better that way - so straight onto offering food 3 times a day...
Shell - re the bread, the lady said that it was fine to introduce straight away (sorry skye you were right) again, so long as there is no intolerance history. If there is, it can be offered at 12 months - and watch for a reaction.
I will update the thread that i started a few days ago with all the info that they gave, if anyone is interested.
JO - a couple of girls in our MG use the Bumbos and love them, i will let them know that you use it as a high chair when you are out.
teach good to hear from you - re the loulou nights, how many do you have... also, have you found any others to be as good...
Re the counting of week - i thought that i was a slacker, i lost count of the weeks and like you Trina, rely on my ticker (and this is #1 for me )
Anyone want a puppy?????
Jess just dropped EIGHT this morning!
& they are big dogs (Great Dane X Bull Mastiff X Boxer), so not cheap to feed.
Especially 9 of them!
They are really cute though!
