Bron - i hope you are feeling better, try not to feel guilty, i know why you do cos i would too, but as Danni said, you would not be having any rest (that you need) if Will was at home.
You especially can not afford to have less rest, you need to look after yourself
MJ has a Dora couch too!!! she loves it, she sits in it every evening with her Doll Doll, she loves it!
She hasnt figured out that she can get on the couch yet, i am sure she could if she tried.
Last weekend we got a new cabinet put in (it inserst into a hold in the wall) DH spennt all weekend on it, anyway there is a shelf in there and she climbs up into it and sits in there, its so funny
Prama - MJ manages to swivel around in the seat too, cant have her in the little lie down thing as she has been sitting up in it for ages, i have to take a rusk to the shops otherwise she grabs EVERYTHING!!! and will reach around into the trolly and try and grab things out
Oh i would be mad at the CMHN - what a nasty cow!
Im tired, MJ is still sick, but almost sleeping through the night, her cough wakes me so i am having less sleep.
Shell - how is sleep for DJ... how is everyones else doing with sleep???
Skye, how many BF's are you doing now??? I am finding it exhausting to get enough EBM for when i am at work and thinking of cutting back one of the day feeds (she still is on 4 in a 24hr period)
SJ - It depends on the day. Some days every 2 hours, other's, like today, only 2. I have started him on full cream milk though. He probably only has 50 - 100 mls of that a day.
Skye did you find that Jesses bowels changed at all when he had the cows milk? I am not sure if WIlls poos are changing colour becasue of teeth or the milk I am introducing
I'm wondering, am I bad because I haven't taken Jazz to a CYH nurse like ever? She doesn't get regular check ups, only has a check up when one of her immunisations are due (next one due at 12 months, next week). But I can see that she's gaining weight well and she's a happy little girl, I guess I don't feel the need to get regular check ups, but should I have been?
She tried to take a step on her own tonight. She was playing with Iggle Piggle and was so excited...jumping all over him, hugging and kissing him. I was holding him about 2m away from her while she was standing holding on to an ottoman. She was so excited to see him and just let go of the ottoman and took a step and then fell flat on her face. It didn't seem to worry her though, she just got up and crawled over and gave him a big hug and kiss...best present ever I think (so far)!
I was "walking" IP to Jazz's room and she was following behind. Occasionally IP would stop, turn around and wave and she would crack up laughing.
I am still up can't sleep because I can't breath - damn cold!!! grrrrrr and we have no codrals or anything in the house, so trying a glass of vino to help knock me out for sleep Doni is getting up to DJ tonight if he wakes up..... Last few nights he has been waking every few hours. He has 2 top teeth coming through and another bottom one, so all up he has 5, they are all just coming through very quickly now. Still bothers him at night, he moans in his sleep.
Nothing much else new here, just got a terrible cold and super busy at work so can't take the day off to rest. I am just hoping DJ doesn't get sick because otherwise I will have to take time off since he won't be able to go to daycare. fingers crossed. Been making sure he has his probotics in his bottle every night.
All of these birthdays coming up - so exciting!!!!! We still haven't sent out invites yet, doing that this weekend. We are only inviting family and very close friends so won't be a drama. Just wanted something small - cake and coffee. I am going to make the cake. I can't wait to try it out. I must remember to get all things ready for that. It is two weeks away.... hard to belive my little baby boy is growing so quick. He is soooo adorable right now. I just want to gobble him up.
SJ - DJ's sleep is ok, still having to put him down to sleep...... Have been trying a few techniques, so he is getting better, but just doing it slowly so he doesn't notice what we are doing. Trying not to rock or pat him to sleep for as long as we normally do.... Oh and on the couches, I am getting DJ one of those for his birthday, not sure which one. My sis-in-law said the target ones are better quality..... but I am sure they are all just the same.
Danni - I haven't taken DJ to a health care nurse since he was probably 8 months old I think..... There is no need to really, more for measurements etc which you can get done at the chemist. I used to go more so if there was something I was concerned about in his growth etc.
Prama - how rude of that nurse..... and how cute but frustrating of Poopy. Something DJ would do for sure..... he is a very cheeky boy. Loves to stand up in the bath. He has no fear!! How is Poopy? much better now? Is he loving daycare now? and how are you coping with work?
Bron - sounds like you are sick like me arghhhh so frustrating especially when you have a little one to look after. I would do the same just to get some rest.
SJ - with DJ's teeth cleaning, we have been putting a bit of bonjela on his toothbrush and that is the only way we can get him to brush his teeth and get bonjela on his gums at the same time..... Speaking of brushes, we have to buy another one. DJ was playing iwth it and dropped it on the floor and my dog decided to start chewing on it.... so no more toothbrush.
Trina - happy birthday to Summer since it is coming up very soon or has it been already.... I am all fogged up in the head with this cold so I can't remember.... hope she has a wonderful birthday.
Danni - we go to the appoints as i love getting her weighed and also just touching base, you know reassurance that the fact that her sleep went up the put is normal etc etc. Also when she is weighed, i have always taken a photo of her, its great to compare.
I dont think that you are bad for not going at all. Its not something that you HAVE to do.
Shell we havent been since 8 months as that was the last scheduled one, next one i need to make an appointment for next week - OMG its 5 days til her birthday!!!
I cant believe it, its just crept up
MJ cut another 2 teeth this week so she has 5 now, 3 on the top and 2 on the bottom
Shell with the sleep, i went back to feeding MJ immediatly before bed, so she is quite sleepy, then i give her a cuddle and tell her i love her and that its sleepy time. I give her, her special sleeping toy (that was the best thing, introducing only one toy that was a night toy, she doesnt play with it out of the cot) and then put her down. Initially there was a bit of fussing, but i would stay with her and sing or shush her and pat. This week i have graduated to putting her down and sitting on the other side of the room - facing her but not looking at her. Sometimes she gets upset, so i go over and resettle with a pat and a shush then i move away again. it usually takes between 10-30 mins to drop off to sleep. Its been a hard road and i know i am not at the end of it yet, but at least she is putting herself to sleep now - it has also meant that she settles herself back to sleep if she wakes in the night - so no crying (or not often anyway)
I have found that although this method is taking longer, i am happier with it as she is not so upset and knows that i am there for her.
Has anyone been watching Bringing up baby on ABC? Man its so full on, DH was yelling at the TV last night!
Thanks for letting me know that it's ok that I haven't taken her to the CYH nurse.
I don't take Jazz to the chemist for weighing. I just weigh myself, then pick Jazz up and step onto the scales again and work out the difference. It's not 100% accurate, but it does give a good indication. I need to do it again, I think she's about 12kg now.
I'm taking next Friday off to prepare for her birthday party the following day. I ended up not sending invites as it's only small, I just sent text messages. I'll have to take her for her shots on that Friday... not looking forward to that, plus I think at this age they have them in their arms now. Hopefully she'll sleep a lot.
No injuries in the bath last night thank goodness.
Matt was trying to get her to sleep last night and he said they were having a conversation. He would say to her "you have to go to bed now" and she was responding by saying "no" and pointing to the door, this went on a few times. I think it's so cute and helpful now that she's starting to communicate and let us know what she wants. Not happy that she's saying no though.
She's started saying "tata" while waving goodbye. You just have to say "tata" and she'll stop what she's doing and wave saying it back to you. If she doesn't want us to leave then she'll wave and say "no tata"
Everytime we tell her good girl, she'll clap too. Very cute.
It is not compulsory to go to the MC&HN but when you do take them for their appointments the nurse looks at their development and can look out for any possible developmental problems. Like one of the girls in my MG took her son and the MC&HN picked up that his hearing was not 100% - there were certain things that he responded to and other things he didn't - and he ended up getting grommets put in and now he can hear everything. We also had one of our girls whose bubs head measured large and they sent her off for an ultrasound just to make sure that there wasn't any extra fluid causing problems. I like to take Caitlin for my own peace of mind. I know she is developing well but I like to hear it from someone official!! Mind you at her 12 month appointment she was out of sync on her height & weight so we have to go back as 15 months to make sure she has balanced out again. She was 9.1kgs and 74.4cm tall.
Danni - Be prepared when you take Jazz in for her 12 month injections that she could have a reaction to the measles one. Caitlin was fine with all the other injections but when she had the 12 month ones she was sick for 3 days afterwards with a temp of 39.4 I was thankful that we had her party a week late otherwise she would have been miserable at it.
Caitlin got her 7th tooth on Wednesday and her 8th is close. She now has 4 bottom front and 3 top front. She has bitten me a couple of times in the last couple of days and I am not sure how to deal with it. I obviously yell when she does it because it hurts and she gets a fright and cries so I automatically cuddle her so any suggestions on how to let her know not to do it. I do say no biting in a harsh voice but I am not sure she understands.
Happy Birthday to my little Princess Summer xoxo we are celebrating today so it's still Feb not March. Didn't get her much as IMO they grow out of their 1st year toys too fast and didn't want to waste money on things that she would grow out of in a couple of months so she got a fold out lounge a little plastic ride on bike and clothes. Not having a party at this stage might organise something in a month or so, just too hard and i don't have much money.
Summer is climbing everything she possibly can, she can get on Paige's bed can climb codie's stairs to her bunk and she now climbs the lounge and then climbs up the back and sits right up on top with the cats hehe its very funny but scary as its all floorboards if she falls back. Found her out the back on the 2nd rung of a big ladder too. Anything she can basically dishwasher, ottoman, toys, dog, beds, chairs EVERYTHING.... She has 8 teeth now 4 up top and 4 down bottom and her molars are moving around too, i can feel one at the surface. She is very talkative, i am starting to understand more and more, she knows nose and will point and touch mine when i say it. Sais Daisy, Meow, tries to say all the girls names, Mum, Dad, bubba, kitten and lots of other babble. She is growing so fast i really love this age its the best, they soak up so much info and everything is amazing to them. Well i had better go check what she is doing, she is running now haha
I will come and check back to catch up on whats happening later hope you are all well.
