Grrrr right in the middle of my post :-)
I've uploaded a few photos but they are a bit dodgy as I couldn't see the previews clearly and there aren't the best out of the lot. Anyway our album is at http://picasaweb.google.com/bsxamcdo...ey=rsoCauWpf6I (can I post this link????)
Rachel - good luck with your formula options, we used Karicare with DS when we went on our one night honeymoon. With Ari we are just using Amcal brand as that's what we had and it's only for a short amount of time.
Caro - I would be interested in that orajel, cqan you email or pm with details?
sasha - I used the medula single electric with DS as I had to express a lot as he had latch/sucking problems. If Ari is still feeding a lot when I go (if I go back to work) I am going to hire a double electric from the ABA.
Rachel, happy birthday for Thursday!! WOOHOO about going shopping for clothes!! I love doing that Actually someone else also said that Oskar looks like Shrek in that pic but I can't remember who now... lol... luckily I like Shrek huh!!
Sarah, Ari looks so beautiful in the pics and Xander is such a handsome little man all dressed up!! I didn't think of trying BM on his toe!! I seriously hope it isn't ingrown or that it is going to be a problem for him cos it's fairly red.
I know there was more said in the last thread but I can't remember by who and what was said!!!
Oskar must be having a growth spurt cos the past couple of days he's reverted to feeding about every 2 hours!! This morning he was awake by 6:30am which is about an hour earlier than he has been for a little while. Oh well, he just better not grow out of all his clothes too fast!! I just went through everything...lol!
Has anyone been to babes in arms at the movies?? I think that the girls in my mother's group are thinking that we'll go together. Should be fun, I didn't even know about it until about a month ago!!
Sarah - the photo's are fantastic. Ari looks gorgeous and Xander is such a cutie - he's gonna be a heart breaker when he is older!! Thanks for the advice on formula.
Caro - I did read your post in the other thread but ta for reposting it. Thanks for the offer of the gel but we'll just see how we go with the local stuff for now. Also, thanks for advice on formula. Am going to talk to CHN on Monday when we go for our 4 month check up and weigh in.
Cass - I haven't been to the movie session yet but DH and I were talking about it but the current movie they were showing didn't interest us. Should be great. We are going to see a movie for the first time in ages (since way before Grace was born as I couldn't sit still for long enough towards end of pregnancy). I can't wait. Bummer about 2 hour feeding, that wouldn't be much fun.
We got some Bonjela today and tried it (it said from 4 months but we figured 6 days off is no biggie). She did settle after having it and seemed happier, but having said that a few minutes later she did a big poo so we don't know which was the problem! She was a bit grizzly the next feed too (3 hours later) so I put some more on her gums and she calmed down, so it is possibly her teeth. My mum keeps suggesting that maybe she needs solids as back in the day they started solids at 4 months. I keep telling her that we are to wait until 6 months and that I don't think that is the problem but she keeps saying it! I really do think it is her teeth and not a hunger thing. I guess we will find out next week when we weigh her - hopefully she has put on enough. Last weigh in she didn't put on as much as I thought so I'm hoping it's a bit more this time. She was chunking it on so fast in the early days that it seems to have slowed so dramatically! All the other babies in out mothers group (and on here lol!) look huge now compared to Grace. having said that she is definitely putting on weight as she keeps growing out of her clothes, although she just seems to get longer and longer rather than fatter and fatter. Will find out soon enough. So shopping tomorrow- woohoo. Thinking of leaving Grace with DH and having some time with my mum. It's also much much easier to shop without a baby. Much faster too. It would be nice for DH and Grace to have some time together without me.
Tate has just started sleeping thru the night, what a dream! Had a night out on the town, the boys stayed with my sister, and everything went perfectly. I was able to express enough for her and she topped him up with formula before bed, just as I do myself. I got to let my hair down and have a drink and a dance. DH and I really enjoyed ourselves, and each others company for a change!
I'm not too sure about the teething thing, to be honest? But like Caro said, I also think listen to your motherly instincts. I just cant imagine Bonjela to help much if the teeth are only 'moving around' and not poking thru, IYKWIM? I used to use Bonjela when I had braces and subsequently ulcers, so it seems to be more a surface thing. I guess it doesnt hurt to try it.
Thanks Caro, I will. I appreciate her advice but once is enough!
Jess, glad you had a good night, sounds wonderful. Glad the boys were good. I know what you mean about the bonjela, I think it is a surface thing, but as I said, her gum feels different at the back on the left - harder, so not sure if something is happening. Can't see anything though.
OMG I don't know if this little man is having a growth spurt or has decided to change things around!! He woke last night at 12:30 but I had to feed him cos he wouldn't settle back to sleep. I hope he's not going to start the night feeding again cos today I feel quite a bit like a zombie.
I cant get over how much Tate's habits have changed. It's like he hit 3months and thought, OK, I'll stop giving this lady such a hard time. He is following a feed/play/sleep routine, goes down really well during the day, and each day sleep is generally 1hr +. Then at night he goes to sleep around 7pm and is sleeping until 4/5/6am. WOW. I feel so much more organised, less zombie-like, and generally a happier person. I wonder what triggered this change, maybe it was all those weeks of suffering and perserverance??!!
I went for a job i/view the other day. They sounded really excited but have since heard nothing. They did mention due to fin new year the 2nd i/view will be in the new fin year, but still.... Never mind, I have decided I def want to return to work part-time, so something else will come up. Ideally 2 days a week, or 3 days but shorter days. Mum has offered to look after the boys which is great, otherwise it wouldn't be worth it financially.
Enjoying b/feeding so much more this time round, I can see myself going past 6 months. It is so convenient when out and about, and when I b/fed Aidan I swear I couldn't find any benefits, except health ones for the bubs! I am really enjoying it. Tate will sometimes stop feeding to look up at me and grin, then gets back to it.
2 posts in 2 days from me, wow Tate's new routine is definielty working for me!
OOooh I'm so happy for you Jessica!! It's great to feel less zombie like huh!! I do still have days where I feel like that though and I think it's when Oskar's a bit more unsettled during the night and then I have the cat misbehaving on top of it... at least I can lock the cat in the laundry!! I meant to ask you the other day how your interview went. I hope you get something which works how you want it to! I was down the road the other day and helped my friend out while Oskar was asleep and it felt good to feel useful in a different way IYKWIM? I know I'm useful and all with Oskar and around the house and cooking and all of that, but just to be useful outside of here was really nice and felt really good and refreshing! So, I think I need to find something that I can do from home cos I'm so not ready to give Oskar's care over to someone else and we don't have family close by to babysit.
Caro, I know ya loves me!!! I don't know what is going on the past couple of days... I would have to guess a growth spurt cos he's feeding more during the day at the moment too. 6 hours can feel like the BEST huh!! I reckon these two boys must be in synch cos he slept for about 6 hours after his 12:30 booby wake up call!
Well, I guess I should go and start making dinner while Oskar is awake cos I need to use the food processor.... chicken sausage rolls tonight... yumbo! With choc and caramel tart thingys for dessert.. hmmmm better make sure I go for my walk tomorrow!!
Sorry guys I've gotten behind again in this room!! Will try to keep up I promise!
Well I weighed Miss T today and in 1 week she has gone up 220gms and is now 6.18kgs!! LOL! My little munchkin is getting bigger!
BigW have started their big toy sale and I'm thinking of layby-ing some stuff for TJ for christmas! Then again I have no idea what she will and won't like!
Hope everyone is well!
xoxoxo
Hi Cass. IKWYM about helping. Of course we know we are doing the hardest, and most rewarding job in the world raising out gorgeous bubbas, but it's nice to feel like we are doing other stuff too. I dont think I will ever be able to put my finger on exactly why I want to go back to work, so now I just have to try to accept it and do something about it!
Yes, toy sales... how exciting and overwhelming. I want to be ultra organised this year. Currently going thru the Big W catalouge (which is very impressive this year I must say), and writing down everything I think could be good. Problem is there is too much to choose from!
Jessica, lol @ too much to choose from, it's terrible I know... I remember my nanna giving us the catalogues and telling us to go through them and mark what things we wanted... poor nan, I don't think we helped her much!!
Oskar has gone off to sleep already, I hope that he doesn't wake early again He didn't have a huge feed before and I think he was really tired cos he didn't sleep well today. Fingers crossed, anyway off to watch All Saints now... then bed
Hi all...had a great day today. Went shopping with my mum for my birthday and DH looked after Grace. We just wandered around and took our time, had a lovely lunch and got home around 3.30pm - it was great. Got some gorgeous pjs and a zip up top from my parents but they won't let me have them until Thursday! No fair! I got myslef some jeans with gift vouchers that I got for christmas and also got myself some tracksuit pants reduced from $35 to $15, seeing that I am walking everyday now I thought I better get some nice ones. Had to express when I got home though as I was away for 2 feeds. Have been expressing at night but am going to give it a miss tonight, I always feel rather tender after expressing - does anyone else feel like this afterwards?
I was looking at the toy sale as well thinking I should get organised but the problem is I have no idea what Grace would need at Christmas! I just have to go by age on the boxes I suppose.
ANyway, should head off to bed early for a change. Hey,Jess, are we gonna be able to catch up this week? Glad Tate is sleeping so well for you.
Rachel??!!, Im STILL online (much to Chris' disgust!), checking out the Target Toy catalogue. Just sent you an e. Tomorrow is good. Where and what time suits?
Cass, I hope you get some rest tonight. Tate didnt have much for dinner last night and he still slept thru intil 5am, so I hope Oskar does the same for you.
I have to go and express now. It doesn't hurt during or after, but it is like a chore, especially at this time. I guess I could skip it all together but I like having a decent amount in storage. Am going on an all day shopping tour in August so I will need to have approx. 4 feeds ready.
Thanks about the photos, yes Xander did look spunky in his 'fancy clothes' (his words :-)
Cass - OMG Ari is doing the exact same thing. It is so hard to go back to feeding so often :-( especially as I am going to uni at the moment and having to express which I think is exaggerating the probem.
Rachel - Happy Birthday, sounds like a wonderful shopping trip.
Bummer I can't remember what else I was going to say
OMG, you guys sure do chat!!! It has taken me all night to catch up on what's been going on!! Glad to hear everyone is well. I have been a zombie the last 3 days as Nic has decided to wake up all night for some reason. Since he got this cold, he has woken up at about 1am and then every half hour or so till the morning. Last night, I was up with him from 1am to 6am! I tried to get him down to sleep with me, but he waved his arms around so much he kept hitting me in the head. I wrapped him, but then he snored so loud, I couldn't sleep anyway. Keyt slept on the couch as he also has a cold and really bad cough, so when I did come back to bed, I couldn't get back to sleep as he was coughing and snoring too! Luckily, Keyt works at home, so he took him at 6am and got the kids ready for school and NIc back to bed, so I got a couple of hours sleep this morning. I have put a heater in Nic's room tonight to hopefully keep him from waking. He has the vapouriser on in there too and I have given him Dimetapp. Hopefully, he will sleep tonight. I think it may be something to do with his reflux meds too. At the end of the bottle, it doesn't seem to work as well, but we started a new bottle today, so I am hoping this will make a difference to him. Poor little love, he is so tired in the mornings too, but at least he is sleeping in the day again.
Anyway, enough about me, I can't remember who has said what in here now, but I will try to keep up in future!
Caro - sorry I didn't email you, I only saw this now. What's up? I bought the nappies from Nappy Online too. I am waiting for them to be delivered. I think they are usually $20 for a bag of 48 nappies. I also bought wipes. I love internet shopping!
Jo Marie - Ari had been doing the hitting thing as well, I'm thinking her face might be itchy as she is sort of rubbing it and it is keeping her up as well. Hope Nic gets over his cold soon :-(
