Sarah glad to see that Juliette went well with your friends over. Its so good when bubs can sleep thru noise. As for contraception I have started taking the mini pill and DH has referal for a snip. I am not convinced that I want him to have that done just yet so will continue on mini pill for a while.

DH and his mate put up the cubby house for the boys today, it looks awesome. Its huge and Jordan loves it, even with it being empty. He will love it more with toys in it.
Have a nice sunday night everyone, we are off to friends for tea BONUS no cooking again for me.

wow its been busy in here, i'll have to scan back and do some serious reading. Just wanted to pop in say we have turned a corner 10pm till 4am sleeping boobs are ready to blow, but the sleep is totally worth it but i know it wont last.

I hope the colic babies are starting to do better.

ooh Sarah your a brave gal - must admit im not going on the pill again, Emma was after my 3rd round of clomid so i dont think my body needs any more chemicals though i have thought it would be typical that i would end up pg again so soon. And im not sure i would cope.

But more importantly, am i the only chicken who hasnt been brave enough to dtd yet!!! i was gonna wait till my 6wk check as my stitches are still there and am still bleeding after no.2's (sorry tmi) but dh is starting to give subtle big hints

Emma is up better go...big hugs xxxx

Yay on the good sleep Lis. We haven't DTD just yet either, I suggested it the other night in the middle of *ahem* playing around, but Aaron wasn't ready yet I suppose he had listened to me saying it just a few nights before, so he thought he was doing the right thing.

Have a good night out Deancey. We had the afternoon off, Granny & Pop (Aaron's parents) took Zander to visit Aaron's two 6-year-old cousins for the afternoon. He had a great time, they have chickens & he got to pat them, he has told me about 40 times so far "they sooooo soft mummy" hehe.

    Hi mummas,

Well today was my B'day and we had everyone over, Had a Fab night last night... Tiahna took a while settling down but was asleep by 12.30 and slept til 6.30 this morning... It was so nice to get a great sleep... I'm not sure if it will happen again but it was nice...

She's been sleeping for bout 2 hours between feeds and having quite a bit ofawake time- even if its spent crying... although she did go down for a few sleeps quite easy so i'm guessing that i'll have a bad night.

sarah, WOW at DH knocking you back... all i have to do is look at my DP the wrong way and he's asking if we can... we have DTD twice but the next day i seem to be bleeding again... not sure if its from DTD or not??? Also am starting the mini pill as i dont want another just yet ... well would love another but just arent financial enough ATM,...

Was told last january that i couldnt have kids after TTC for 2 yrs finding out i had Polycystic ovaries.... but miraculously after seeing another GP going on progesteron tabs i fell preg... not sure if it will happen naturally the next time or if i need them again but just not ready ATM for another pregnancy... think i need my body back for a little while...

    Hello Everyone

How cute are these little babies getting?? Everyday I am falling more and more in love with Zali! I am infatuated with her, she talks (goos & Gaas) smiles so much and tells the best stories using her face and the expressions just crack me up laughing!! I am really not looking forward to going back to work in 8 weeks time...

I have decided not to do EBM when I go back to work, it takes me so long to express milk (150ml took me 30mins using both breasts and a battery operated pump) by the end of it my nipples were BLUE!!

Sarah - In answer to the contraception issue... my DR told me when babies start to sleep through you are no longer covered by BF... I got my period yesterday so I think she is right, so I am getting an implant in my arm next week as contraception as I really don't want to take any chances.

Last night was a little different for us, usually Zali is impossible to put to bed before 11:30pm, she feeds at 8:30pm and then insists on staying awake until 11:30pm-12:00am. But last Night she fed at 8:30pm I put her down and she slept right through to 12:30am so I was stoked BUT then I could not put her down again and each time I tried she would wake back up, so it took me till 2:00am to get her back to sleep, she then woke at 4:30am for a feed and then again at 6:30am with wind pain!! So we are alittle tired today! Silly me did not go to sleep till 11:30pm so I am now paying the price!

Does anyone else use Formula as a top up at night time?? I had to give Zali 2 bottles on Saturday as my milk supply was just not there (not enough water during the day), she did a massive MASSIVE poo Saturday night but has not done one since..... could that have made her constipated?? She seems to be trying to push but nothing happens?

I hope you are all well and all the bubs are behaving for you all.

    Talk again soon

    Cheers Mecil

    Morning Everyone.
Well we are getting better, Hamish still has a stuffy nose but other than that he is fine, I have a sore throat but i am back on the mend although feeling very tired and achy. Thanks for all your well wishes.
mecil - i agree our babies are just all gorgeous, hamish just makes me melt when he smiles and goos and gaas, it certainly makes everything worth while. Hamish is topped up everynight with formula and has been since he was 1 week old, he will not settle at night now without it, i have trouble expressing enough also and my milk supply is pretty much zero at night time.
Jess - Happy Birthday for yesterday. . Glad to hear Tiahna is sleeping better for you.
Sarah - Juliette seems to adjust well to having visitors good for you. I havent even thought of Christmas presents yet, had a quick look at Kmart Toy catalogue but nothing really jumoed out at me so to speak.
Lis - good sleeping Emma, hamish sleeps usually a 5hour then 4 at night but it is getting better. Im with you on not doing dtd, i have my 6 week check next monday and i am waiting til then plus my bleeding comes back every few days(tmi).
principessa - i could never imagine how you must have felt waiting at the hospital not being able to feed aidan. I hope he is recovering well.

Hi to everyone i have missed.
Going to try do my tax return online now so best be off before Hamish wakes.

    Hi Mummas,

Well we had a good night again... Tiahna was unsettled like usuall but like saturday night she was asleep by 12.30am and slept right through till 6.20am... i was so happy with her... its so great to get a good night sleep... not expecting it to last so just enjoying it while its happening...

Boobs are getting better and the antibiotics dont seem to have effected my milk as Tiahna is feeding very well still... Tried to give her an EBM bottle but she still refuses to drink from the bottles.... GRRRR Not sure if i should buy new ones or just be persistant with the ones i have??? i want her to get used to the bottle as soon as possible dont want to leave it til last minute i know i have plenty of time left but just dont want to take chances. she loves the booby so much...

Mecil- my son used to get very consitpated on formula... you can buy special coloxyl drops (like the tabs used for preg women) you add a few drops in the bottle or on the tongue. over the chemist thing... think you can give bottle fed babies boiled water alsoto help out... (anyone else told that breast fed babies should or dont need water???) sometimes when i change Tiahna and i hold her legs up a little to wipe it seems to kind of help her push #2's out not that here hard- still like tooth paste... hehehe it mush just help her use her muscles there... its weird.

i read on the ABF website
Many mums also feel their milk supply is lower in the late afternoon/evening. Certainly your breasts can feel they are less full of milk than earlier in the day. Rest assured there is milk there, as breasts are never totally empty. As soon as your baby starts feeding, this sends the message for your breasts to produce more milk.
i find that sometime i feel like i have "NO MILK AT ALL" by the afternoon so offered a bottle 1 or twice but after reading thisi put Tiahna pn the boob and she always seems to manage to get something out... To all Mums who have babies with the horrid fussing hours arounf 8-midnight i recommend reading the arsenic hour on the ABA site... helped me out heaps

    I also read this
The highest milk volume is usually in the morning and the lowest is in the late afternoon or early evening. The lower supply allows a baby to suckle for long periods during his fussiest time of day and not receive excessive amounts of milk.
Whish i didnt previously know... I always wondered why Tiahna's feeds were longer in the afternoons

    in love. lots of it.

I've been so busy, but still lurking around here now and then... just no time to write!
updates - 6 week check up was a bit of a waste of time as well, but that's just because everything's fine with Aadi, and there's nothing to say really. I'm feeling fine, so there's nothing to report about that either... I jumped on the scales at the Drs, and I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight which is surprising, but my body just isn't the same shape anymore. Where did my booty go??? My butt has just disappeared somewhere, and frankly, I'd like it back! Now my hips look all wrong... still got a little tummy, but I'm working on it. I don't exactly like the squishiness of it. Wearing bubba in the sling hides it well tho!
Aadi is gorgeous and healthy and growing at a good rate. He's very "talkative" and has been making little sounds from about 4 weeks, and smiling and laughing since then as well. He's had a few nights of 4-hour sleeps, but mostly it's still 2.5-3 hours. It's bearable, since he resettles fine, but I'm a bit jealous of you all - 5+ hours!! He only has a few short naps during the day, though, and tends to only fall asleep in my arms (or in he pram next to a noisy road!). It forces me to sit down and do nothing but cuddle him, which is pretty nice sometimes! Fortunately I don't have anything else to do. He feeds really well, and I'm just looking forward to the milk supply settling down a bit and sorting itself out so we don't keep getting drenched at the start of every feed! Even the late afternoon ones. I haven't given him a bottle yet, even after eating the spiciest curry the other day! I thought about it, but I figured I'd risk it and see if he had a reaction. Everything was fine, so I still have a freezer full of EBM just in case. I use a Medela electric pump, and get around 100ml easily in just a few minutes. It's freaky. But invaluable for when my milk first came in, and when I got mastitis last week. But I have so much milk and don't know what to do with it now!
I borrowed a friend's copy of the Dunstan Baby Language dvd, and stuck a copy of the 5 words on the fridge. Some things are easy to pick up, but DP doesn't think so. But he doesn't spend 24-7 with bubba, so I guess it just takes time and practise to "hear" it.
DTD a few times after about 4-5 weeks. I guess having no tears or c-section stitches to worry about makes it easier. It's not quite the same, though! As for contraception, I think we'll just stick with the condoms as I dont want to take the pill. They're effective without the side-effects, so long as you remember to use them... which we obviously didn't at some point last August! heheheh... I'm not quite ready to be pregnant again just yet, though DP is already planning the next 2 kids and placing orders for another boy and then a girl! Men...

    Happy birthday Jess!
principessa - how's Aidan recovering from his operation?? That must have been pretty traumatic for you both. My DP had a hernia operation last year, and he was SUCH a sook! He had to fast for a whole day (and he's used to that from Ramadan) and he was totally unbearable! I can't imagine how upset that must have made your little one...

    Hi ladies....
I haven't had much time to log on lately, and when I have, I get through reading all the post and then have no time to write It will take me ages to catch up, but glad to hear that most of you and your bubs are doing well. I hope Aidan is going well after his operation and all the colicy babies are doing ok. Lily also has colic.... She seems to sleep well during the day early night but has trouble from about 3am on.... It is playing havioc with our sleeping patterns, but we are slowly coping. we have been using Donnalix which seems to work quite well. We have also been informed of a chemist in town that makes their own herbal remedy for colic and it is apparently brillant - we will get some this week and give it a go.
As far as DTD - DH and I tried after about 4 weeks and all seemed fine - no bleeding since about 3.5 weeks for me. My ob informed me of contraception at my 6 wk appointment of a device inserted into the uterus and lasts for 5 years, and you are fertile as soon as you take it out. I can't remember the name but starts with M. It is also reasonably cheap (about $30) and recommended by my ob, so I am going to go with that. My ob also stated that if you are still on 3hrly feeds, you probably won't get your period or be fertile..!
Happy Birthday Jess for yesterday.... hope you have a wonderful day and were spoilt
Lily is doing well in terms of growing - she has grown 6 cm and put on 1.5 kg it is a bit hard to determine how she is going developmentally as I am unsure about if I should be "adjusting" her age due to her being early.... she seems to be up to 7 weeks with some tasks but not with others. so we keep playing and trying the games for her age ( i have a book called Fun Start which gives games and things to do for each week from birth to five years of age - its great) and she will eventually get there I am sure. We are getting loads of smiles too which is just lovely..... and Daddy loves to "steal kisses" which makes her giggle
Oh dear.... better run Little miss needs dinner..... I hope I can get back on more often. Hope everyone is well and enjoying this special time

Well I may have been a bit premie on the call of constipation..... another nappy filler this arvo has made me (and Zali) relieved!!

That sort of makes sense about the fussiness and low milk supply so that baby can suckle longer and not overeat.... it is just frustrating when you have to sit down and pop out the boob every hour to keep them from screaming which is the case if I don't use a bottle..... Selfish I know but latley she has been unsettled and sucking on her hand 30mins - 1hour after a feed ALL DAY!! Drove me mad today and my nipples are still sore with thrush... 6weeks of it and it is STILL THERE!!!!

I am seriously considering stopping BF as I have not been able to clear up the thrush, I am not able to dry them with a towel they are that sore and Zali seems to be sucking so often that they are never dry....

GTG she is screaming about something!

    Cheers

    Good morning Ladies

Mecil glad to hear the zali is not constipated. On the BF thing you have to do what is best for you too, you just need to make a decision that you are going to be comfortable with. Its your baby and your body do what you need to do. I bf my first son for 14 months and my 2nd for only 3 months. I stopped for different reasons to you but i had to do it for myself no one else. Good luck with your decision.

Alicia great to hear from you again and congratualtions on all teh smiles you have been getting!

Jess happy birthday sorry i missed it. I hope that tihana is being a good girl for you.

nana great to hear from you again too good to hear that aadi is growing well. Planning more babies already gosh. No more for me i have 2 boys and a girl thats enough but i really need to go on the mini pill. Not that we have been dtd we dit it once at 4 weeks casue i stopped bleeding for one week and i have been bleeding ever since. Going to the dr on friday so i will talk to him about it i am sooooo over bleeding.

Abbie is still going well getting bigger already growning out of her 000, the arms are getting to short for her.

Its amazing i was at the shops yesterday and saw a baby who was only a few days old and he was sooooo tiny abbie looks so big now. They grow too quickly she will be 2 months next week.

Hope everyone else is well been a bit quite in here!

glad to see some bubs are sleeping longer overnight. I really wish Liam would follow suit. He goes 5 hrs then 3.5 to 4 hrs so I am waking around 2-3am and then 6-7. I would love to have him sleep 10-6 but Jordan didnt till he was 2 months 3 weeks so I am not holding my breath it will happen anytime soon.
We are doing well. The arsenic hour is in full swing here most nights. He doesnt seem to sleep at all between his pre dinner feed and the last feed of the night. Last night he was awake from 4.30-9.00 when I fed him again in the hope he would sleep, thankfully he did.
Are you guys letting bubs self settle or are you holding/rocking to sleep? I try to let Liam self settle most times. I walk back and forth from his room to put the dummy back in..... the house seems so long some times LOL
Hope you are enjoying the day, even though its so cold here.

    Morning all,

Not that i want to jinx myself but once again we had another good night... Still the same in terms of Tiahna screaming for hours around 6.30-11pm but again once i managed to get her to sleep at 11.30 (bonus usually 12.30-1am) My little princess slept til 6.30am my boobs are so full and heavey which they havent been for a while (since the mastitis actually)

I read also while i remember- for those wearing breast pads that they can cause infections like mastitis if you have sore cracked nipples, also that they can effect the let down reflex. My GP also told me to try and wear nothing for at least 10-15 mins a day to let the breast get some air and also let the nipples have time with nothing touching them? Well have been trying it after a shower and it seems to be working i can feel the let down again and my nipples are actually healing better then they were when i used the nipple cream on the nipple pads... Also i found AVENT nipple sheilds their like a cup they go over the entire nipple so your clothes dont touch them, also instead of soacking up the leaking milk it catches it so you can use it (if you like)

Mecil- i know what its like to have bubs screaming like that - Tiahna was like that always wanting to feed through out the day. DP always says "she's hungry" when i've just fed her, does Zali take a dummy??? maybe try giving her one to suck on in between feeds- Tiahna still wont take a dummy but i have been trying to stretch out the feeds a bit as i was getting the boob out every 1.5 hours (she'd have one side then not want the other side then 1/2 hour later want the other side so feeds were taking for ever ) now we've gotten her to 2 hours between and if she only has one side she plays til she wants the other side to kinda keep her awake more... maybe thats why she's sleeping more in the early morning. i also find that if i let her sleep for a good 3 hours in the morning after the first feed that she has a long awake period during the morning then around lunch time when i need to make jordan lunch and he has quiet time she's also sleeping. she still has her DIVA tantrums at the same trouble time at night and i know how hard it is to constantly feed... its hectic- i worked out how to feed and cook one handed quite quickly.
Also It must be frustrating with the thrush- (never had it on the nipples) hope i didnt upset you with the info... dont feel sepfish- you just have to do what keeps you sane... just know i do understand. - is there anything they can do for the thrush??? does zali have it in her mouth and passing it to you??? not sure how that all works

Alicia- glad to hear things are going well,

NaNa- Aadi sounds like he's progressing well, Tiahna does get "talkative" in between the crying but mostky her happy time is in the mornings when shes just woken up she's smily, gooing and gaa'ing
Also must me horrible being drenched every feed... maybe you can express a little before you start.

LMK- Abbie sounds like shes growing well, its amazing how much they grow. Everyone keeps telling me that we shouldnt have anymore as we now have 1 of each... me i'm not sure what i want ATM

Deancey- the sleep is good but i'm not counting on it lasting so just happy i've had my catch up sleep... taking things still one day at a time

    Afternoon Everyone
We had an eventful night last night. From 5pm until around 11pm all Hamish did was scream and scream, he also had a temp so we did the usual thing gave him a tepid bath a dose of panadol etc. He eventually settle aroun 12 and slept until 5am then woke at 7,9,11. He seems to be better today although he was fine yesterday too until 5pm so i am none the wiser to what was actually wrong with him, i just hope it was a one off, his cry was different to normal he was definetly in some kind of pain and he wouldn't feed at all either which is not like him. I thought maybe he was constipated but he had pooed in the afternoon and he didn't seem to be pulling his legs up or anything. He still has a bit of a cold so maybe it was just the congestion. My mum rang around 6 and heard his cry and next minute she was at the back door, she said his cry was one of those scary cries to let you know smething is not right. I was ready to take him to the hospital at 11 as his temp was 38.5 but after the bath and panadol it came down and he settled with a feed. I just hope we never have another night like that, i felt so sorry for him, he was even sobbing in his sleep for awhile it bought me to tears to see him that way. Dp was very good, calm and helpful but hamish seemed to only settle with me so i was totally exhausted by the end.
Hope everyone has a great day and all bubs are well and sleeping.
