Babies Born May 16th - 31st 2008 #2

Gosh its been quiet in here...
I ended up catching the tummy bug jordan brought homw from the hospital. OMG... Havent been so sick in AGES!!! TMI*** the throwing up was so violent and now my throat, nose, oesophegus and abdo area are so sore. It sucks having to breast feed next to a bucket. Or pulling her off to run to the loo.. :redface: I hade 1 bottle in the freezer so i defrosted it and tried to give her some but she point blank refused. So another wasted EBM.... In a way i wish she's take the bottle (especially days when your sick) but it does make me feel good that she wants only booby...

Think it must have been a 24 hour thing cos i feel a bit better this morning. (jordan only had it 24 hours) fingers crossed.

Tiahna has a touch of diareoah (spl) but she had it before i was sick (hope that means thats all of it she will get... i'd really hate for her to get it... But i guess its hard to keep her away from it as she attached to me for most of the day. Her sleeping pattern now she's back in the basinette isnt as good as it was but i'm still happy she wakes up 1 or twice but hasnt sleep right through since being in the basinette... At least i know that if i want a full night i can just put her in the rocker... Still havent brought the mattress for the cot yet (been slack) but will buy on in the next few weeks and start to put her into the cot during the day to get her used to sleeping in there before the basinette gets too small..

Aadi's dribbling bucketloads ATM as well, and is just loving sucking on his fists. Both of them, at the same time if possible! No teeth showing yet, though. He used to just do it when he was hungry or tired, but now it's all the time.

Tiahna sounds exactly the same... its amazing how they try to put bothhands in... Tiahna can suck on them for ages before she cries for a feed.. At night i hear the sucking before she makes any noise... Its so loud....
Must suck not having any room to hang your washing- its been so windy here even with the line my clotes end up next door so i have resorted to hanging them on the airers (which looks untidy and takes up alot of space)

Tiahna has has a few days where she seems to feed all day, by the late arvo i feel like i have nothing left... my bobs just cant seem to catch up anymore... I started to get a sharp pain in the left side yesterday but noticed like a little bubble again, when i squeezed it a little in the shower the milk just seemed to squirt out after a little pop of pressure... (maybe another blocked duct) i find if we dont get into the right position it happens... i have to feed sitting up and have her tummy against mine still... cant feed in bed :(

Forgot to mention Tiahna weighs 5.2 kg;s and is 59.2 cm long... which is a great growth from birth (3.25kg and 51.5cm long)

jayda is sucking on her hands heaps too and the noise is so loud sometimes. she wont have a dummy just her hands. i noticed the other day she was suckint he finger next to her thumb it looked so funny so used to seeing babies sucking their thumbs lol.

Her sleeps r getting heaps better. b4 she wouldnt go to sleep until after 1030, but now she gets cranky if she isnt in her bed by 830. then she will wake up once anytime between 1 and 430 then she is awake again at about 7 which is when i have to get up anyways so she is doign really well. about every 4th night she will sleep right through.


she is such a daddies little girl, she is so cute when he is around all smiling and wants him all the time. he legs and head r gettin really strong. trev holds her up and she bounces around like crazy pushing her legs up.

wat age do they start holding their head up by themselves. she holds it up for ages now but still is a little wobbly.

jess: hope ur better now. have u tried the bottle that r ment to be most liek the breast the tommy tippy back to nature ones?

i have tried the play sleep feed routine but she wants to to wat she wants to do lol.

has anyon e got their 3rd bounty bag yet? i just found the thing to get mine should prob get it tomoz

hi ladies sorry i was MIA DH took us all away for the weekend to Lake Fyans, near stawell VIC. It was really nice. We went to a caravan park in a cabin, 2 bedroom which was perfect with the boys. Liam did really well in the porta cot ( 1st time he has been in it ) and Jordan slept well in the bed ( we took his side rails just in case)
Liam is also sucking on his hands heaps, it is SO noisy. He has been holding his head up for ages, he is really strong, everyone comments on how strong and big he is...... I am used to it from Jordan who was a BIG BABY.

Sassy good to hear Jaydas sleeps are getting better and its so nice she is a daddys girl. I think its nice that they love their dads especially seeing as they spend most of the time with mum during the day. And its a load off when they do come home :)

Jess Tiahna may be having a growth spurt, I was thinking about this today as Liam fed 3 hrly again today which is very unlike him. I cant remember what ages they aparently have them.

NaNa LOL at adding bibs to your washing repitoire.... I had to do 3 full loads today from before weekend and weekends washing. It went in drier,clothes line and clothes horse. It felt like it would NEVER END. It never ceases to amaze me how 1 little person can create SO MUCH WASHING

Abb Hamish sounds as though he is going great guns with his growth, well done. I hope your DH went ok with Hamish whilst you were at work.

Sarah Its great to see Juliette is such a good baby that you are considering TTC already. How is your wound going? Is it all healed over? Mine is great and I even got waxed down there.....and it was ok.

Good morning mummas...
Had a wonderful sleep last night... We put Tiahna in the basinette about 8,30 when she fell asleep on the boob and by 930 when we turned everything off and headed to bed she woke up... :rolleyes: after another top up feed i decided to just put her in the basinette awake and let her self settle but she ended up again crying herself to sleep... As i cried under my pillow once again... (hate when she cries at the best of times but she relys on falling asleep in my arms way too much)

It was hard but within 5 mins she was fast asleep and amazingly slept til 7.45 this morning... YAY!!!! I feel like i am a new person... its been about a week and a half since we've had a FULL night sleep...maybe the crying is wearing her out...

Although she uses me as a dummy my supply diesnt seem to be keeping up... I'm thinking of getting some more maxalon from the docs... i dont want to stop feeding anytime soon...

Deancey- sounds like a great getaway... glad the boys went well... laundry suck ey, i wish i had a dryer... our blew up before we moved so need a new one but not on top of the list at the moment... Toahna also has a strong neck...
Q? if you prop your bubs up (ie on a pillow so there kinds sitting) does he/she try to lift up a little yet??? Tiahna does and its freaking me out... she was sitting up on the pillow yesterday and she pulled her self up more and flopped down in her own lap... lucky for me i was sitting next to her... she's pulled herself up a tiny bit heaps of times this week but not sure if i had her upright too much and she was able to just lift that little to get up and down???

Sass- thats so cute jayda being a daddies girl... wish Tiahna would go to Brad... He says she hates him...lol everytime he hold her she cries, if he talks to loud or coughs she gets scared and cries, she smiles when she first sees him but if he talks or kisses her or hold her she just cries... (i keep telling him its cos she doesnt really know him cos he's a lazy a$$.. lol)
Tiahna hold her head up herself now but after a while she starts to bobble around... (obviously they get weakened but she's can go a long time very strong for her age i'm told)

Tiahna LOVES nappy free time... I put the heat on and take her nappy off just to hear her coo and laugh if i say want a nappy change her face lights up and she has a HUGE smile on her face... Its so cute...

Oh BTW... I heard from Klee.. Her and joseph are doing really well.. (she PM'd me and also she posted in the other may thread)

Hi everyone
we had a bad night last night and yesterday, not sure what the go is but Hamish has fed nearly every 2 21/2 hours even during the night, thinking maybe a growth spurt. On top of that dd had gastro last night and is home from school today so i am very tired today and the washing is piled high in laundry, but atleast the sun is shining today.
Jess you are lucky to have a full night sleep, we havent had one yet Hamish longest sleep was 7 hours and he has only done that twice.
Deancy well done on the weekend away, we plan on going away next month when tax cheque is back.lol It was really difficult working the 3 days, i was so tired and missed hamish so much but he was really well behaved for dp and i think it has made them alot closer, he smiles and laughs like crazy at his dad now.
Sassy hamish holds his head very well also, they are growing so quickly now.
NaNa I am only doing 2 days of work from now on as the 3 days was too much and i am havinh trouble expressing enough as Hamish is feeding so often again this week, i only do 41/2 hours each night so its not too bad. I will do more hours in December. When is everyone else going back to work?
Hamish is waking up i best be off.

Abb - Same here! Aadi's been wanting to feed almost constantly for the last day or 2. It's driving me a little bit nuts... feeding frenzy or something. I put it down to a growth spurt as well, and I put Aadi on the scales at the MCH nurse today and he's now 6.720kg! Argh! No wonder my shoulders are getting sore. He wants to be up there, looking around all the time and he grizzles if I hold him in front of me. Just wants to be up with the big people. Don't think I could keep up with expressing either. Feel a bit like a dairy cow... I don't have a job to go back to (b@stards!), but I'm doing some freelance design stuff at home. I don't have a strict deadline ATM, which is good, otherwise I couldn't do it. I'll look at more paying jobs when I need the money (probably soon!).
deancey - I knew there had to be a good reason for you to be away from here! Weekend away sounds great. We're saving up for a big family holiday at Christmas to Africa, to spend Christmas and NYE with DP's family there. It's gonna be crazy, I know.
oh, gotta go. Aadi's found his voice this week and is shouting at me!!

Well today Liam was a little unsettled. He is asleep now think I will wake him at 10 30 and try and dream feed him. Last night he fed at 6 and then didnt wake till 3....so he can go the distance but is doing it at the wrong time.... lets hope I sort it out before I head back to work in 3 half weeks.

Ok, so it's much later, but I'm back... Aadi had his immunisation yesterday. Blah. Not fun. Poor little guy screamed and screamed. I went with a friend whose baby was born the same day as Aadi, and her bub just shrieked once and that was it. Aadi was sleepy at first, as he was well overdue for a nap anyway, but wouldn't stay asleep for long. He woke up at one point absolutely wailing, and DP completely freaked out because I was in the bath. I just told DP to get him undressed and bring him in to me in the tub. I had plenty of lavender oil in the water already (I needed to calm down a bit too...) As soon as he got in the water he calmed down, and all was good. Took DP a few minutes to calm down though! Now he knows why I didn't want Aadi to have any needles at birth. Feeding in the bath is an unusual experience...
Anyway, he's fine now, except for a bit of the runs (TMI, but it's not like you notice with explosive breastfed newborn poos anyway!).
So after thinking I didn't have any problems with the freelance work I was doing, now my client wants this, that and everything else changed, and has totally disregarded my designs, so I've got loads of work to do and no time to do it. Blah again. I wish people would trust that I know how to do my job. I might be over-tired, but I still know more about design than they ever will. Ah, enough venting. It's futile!
Jess - I was reading in the breastfeeding support forum about mums drinking Aktavite to increase milk supply. Seems to work for some people. I certainly don't need to increase at the moment (still drowning in it...) but it might be worth a shot, and certainly taste better than Maxolon or whatever. Just a thought.
Right, back to the drawing board... ho hum.

Hi all, sorry i have been MIA for wow few days... LOL... Tiahna has been quite unsettled during the day... She's had bright red cheeks and sucking and well grinding her gums on her hands... Think she may be teething... thought it was a little soon but a friend of mine who had a baby boy 3 weeks older said issac got 2 bottom teeth at 8 weeks. I put up with it on monday but yesterday it was just screaming and screaming, she's feeding constantly and comes off and screams then wants more. I gave her panadol and within 1/2 hour she was sound asleep. Although the constant crying and screaming during the day helps her sleep at night. monday night she slept from 8.30-8am then last night she slept from 9-8. cant complain except it does ur head in to have them screaming all day...

The colic is now back with avengance. poor darling is having issues burping again so am thinking of looking into an osteopath or chiropractor (spl) i heard they really help with reflux and colic???

NaNa- have been drinking the Aktavite since sarah H mentioned it last time i had supply isues but still not helping... last time i took the maxalon 3 a day for only 3 days and my milk was back up to normal... My prob is i dont drink much normally and i'm struggling to drink enough water i think. i have a glass every feed and a double mug size of weak tea in the morning. morning tea i drink a large glass of the aktivite milk recepie and another 1/2 hour before bed. Glad Aadididnt have any reaction to the immunisation. Tiahna screamed bad aswell she also had a touch of the runs after too... poor darls. Also Africa sounds great.. no holidays for us... mortgage payments enough and small reno's ATM...

Deancey- Tiahna was also sleeping at wrong times... she'd sleep from 3-8pm so now i wake her up after an hour let her play til she gets cranky bath her about i try to have her fed before we eat about 5.30-6.30 and let her play for as long as she can then i get her changed and feed her usually at about 9.30 and put her in the basinette to self settle...

Abb- tiahna is also making me feel like a dairy cow... feedingevery 2 hours during the day... i know i'm VERY lucky with the night sleeps but i pay for it during the day... she's full on and all she wants is to be held and fed. she throws herself around and cries, if you dont pick her up she screams the house down... she refuses to feed from a bottle still and refuses to go to DP or anyone else... its quite hard...

I have purchansed every type of bottle i can tommy tippee(TT) (the close to nature) pigeon (same teats as the TT) Mam, Nuk, cheapo's, anti colic, advent, and about 1/2 dozen more that i can remember but Tiahna still wont drink from them. i go back to work in December and would still love to breast feed but if she wont drink from the bottle i dont know what i'll do... DP wants me to take extra time off... DS always comes home sick from school so doesnt want her to be sick so young.... Thinking maybe i'll add the last few months i'm allowed to my leave and go back in april??? not sure yet... i'd love to stay home with her but know if its not now it'll be later...

ok I need some advice ladies.
Liam has been a 4 hrly feeder during the day, he normally wakes an hour before he is due to eat, eats then plays for 1/2 hr to hour and then goes to bed. Recently when he is due for feed and grumpy when I try to feed him to screams and refuses the boobs.
He has done this the last 3 days now. I have settled him back to sleep without a feed but he is now 4.5 hrs since last feed.
DO you think he is starting to go loner between day feeds, poss 5 hrs now? He is a big boy so I am not concerned about him not getting enough however I though it was too early to extend out to 5 hrs? What are your bubs doing? any advice is welcome.

We're the same as Jass & Tiahna with feeding - every 2 hours during the day but only once maybe twice overnight (last nigt she went 9 hours!).

I really couldn't say, deancey... Aadi feeds every 3 hours roughly, days and some nights too! It's on demand, but quite regular. I would think it could possibly be some other cause if Liam's grumpy, screaming and refusing boobies! It might just be a phase, and I wouldn't stress about it unless he's sick and/or dehydrated. Keep an eye on how many wet nappies he has, and if you're worried maybe call MCH nurse?

Deancey- as you know Tiahna is fantastic little sleeper at night she can go all night (uo to her best time of 9 hours or so... She only has little cat naps during the day but feeds every 2 hours during the day (i think its to make up for the long stint at night. Maybe ne is taking alot more milk and not needing to fill up as much... Could also be that he is playing more and wearing himself out more there fore needing more sleep then food...

Is he demand feeding or your just offereing booby every 4 hours??? I have started over the last week or so to feed play sleep play then feed again... Tiahna was waking up very happy and content but i was feeding her shortly after while she was happy... Now she is quite happy to play when she just wakes up feeds plays a little longer then i make her self settle (many time cry herself to sleep... ) This wears her out and she sleeps for about 15-20 mins during the day... so
10-15 min feed (if that)
burping (bout 10-15 mins...still hard to get them up)
Play time on Mat for 1/2 hour or so (sometimes she just gets grumpy cos she want to do something different)
Change time
then sometimes a little top up or straight to the cot for self settling
then when she wakes up i let her play in the cot till she's grumpy usually 15 mins to 1/2 hour then we start again

At night its the same except at about 4.30 after the play time on the matt when she starts to get bit grumpywe have nappy free time for 10-15 mins ... she loves no nappy time. Then bath time, play time and feed then more play then by 8.30-9pm were ready to put her in the basinette and it takes her about 5 mins to self settle to sleep 4 the night.

My son was an all round sleeper... at 3 months he was on formula and feeding every 4.5 hours and sleeping for 1-3 hours during the day inbetween feeds then 5 hour stints overnight.

Q? i read a thread about bubs going off the boob when mum had her AF??? or before or after she was due??? maybe a reason like that for his grumpiness

thanks ladies i am not sure what he is doing. I do demand feed however he has been 4 hrly on demand. He eventually fed at 3 so went 7 hrs and it was EBM as I expressed my boobs as they were over flowing. He is asleep at the moment, if going by 4 hrs should be due now but will see when he wakes. He is a big boy so I guess he doesnt need as much as I thought
We generally do feed play sleep. He feeds then has awake time in rocker/floor/on my lap talking and then sleep for an hour or so. He has about 1 to 1.5 hrs awake.
I guess will see how he goes over next day or so and if no better will go and see doc. He is still pooping and weeing so thats a good sign

Deancey, Hamish feeds every 3 to 4 hours during the day but sometimes will only go 2 hours. He has had a few big sleeps where he has gone 4 and half hours but never longer than that. He did have a stage last week where for 2 days he was fussy with the breast and ebm, could have easily skipped a feed but i persevered with trying him every 15mins or so. I think it was just a stage, he was sleeping alot so not sure if he wasn't feeling well. I hope things improve for you if not i would seek some advice from a professional. Good luck

Hi ladies sorry ive been away for quite a while,i'll have to catch up quite a bit.
I have been having a nightmare and lost the plot earlier this week. Were trying to sell the house, move to a new house, I was breastfeed constantly and then my washing machine broke :crying: and that was the last straw.

Anyway i lost it at my mother group so am now on a baby strategy, I was feeding Emma every time she went Chucky-style during the day including round Woolies and Big W :wall:. Im so stupid I should have realised she wasnt sleeping enough during the day, she was maybe having 2 hours total but only 20 mins at a time and she was only snack feeding. Now I am doing the feeding for about 20mins she plays for 0.5hhr and then screams and sleeps for 1-2 hours. But at night she will go for 8+ hours without a feed.

Jess - its so strange that Tiahna and Emma are practically doing the same thing and they share the same bday. Emma screams every time I put her down she apparently is used to falling asleep in my arms or with a boob in her mouth, so were now on cold turkey, 4 days in and she is not screaming as long now, maybe she will be happy to go to sleep in a few weeks.

Deancey - my child health care nurse helped me heaps, if your still worried they might be able to give you some a different strategy to try.

lismith25- Hope things are going ok now. Its funny that the 2 girls are doing the same and have the same b'day... But i'm just glad Tiahna is sleeping all night. We are also trying the cold turkey with no booby and no holding to fall asleep its helping out heaps.

We've all been down with the tummy bug still, Poor Tiahna has thr uns and is crying (must have pains) but appart from being grizzly during the day she's GREAT at night... last night she slepf for 2 hours woke up for a feed and slept for 9 hours. she woke up saturated (snugglers not so good for long nights... will have to go back to huggies)

well liams feeding is getting back to normal, he is so sick with snots etc I think that is the reason for his fussyness.
I went to uni open day today and have decided to go back to school and study to be a nurse, I am so excited. I really hope that I get in to the course. I am going to apply part time as its 2 days a week and that will allow me to still work and have time with the boys.

I am glad to see everyone is getting some good sleeps in. It seems everyone is getting a good solid amount overnight now which is awesome.

Morning all,

Thought i'd pop in again while i had the chance. DP's on night shift this week so all week will be a HUGE hassle. He's such a stick in the mud latley... Yesterday i tried to have a relax day, Saturday we spent the day fixing the back yard up, the grass is dying from the runns with concrete and all the bits of dried up concrete... SO we raked up everything and put down some grass seeds and fertiliser to boost the grass and also did the dynamic lifter on front grass and weeded and trimed the gardens... Went to the markets yesterday morning and then i sat in front of the telly and watched 2 movies (feeding inbetween and all the rest... )

Today i have so much house work to do so i'm up early to begin...

Deancey- Thats awesome you have decided to go back to school.. Very brave to attempt it with 2 kids and a job... i'd love to but at the moment dredding thr return to work and i cant afford the childcare cost to do it...

Hi everyone!
We're finally getting into a night sleep routine that's bearable, and I just hope it lasts! Friday night was a write-off, waking up every 2 hours, but Saturday and Sunday night were great, sleeping from 6-8.30, then 10-4.30, then 5-8.30 with no dramas except for a projectile vomit at 4.45 each time! I'm pretty darn happy with that, since the sleep deprivation's been making me pretty unpleasant to be around, I'm sure... and DP is so happy he got to sleep in on a weekend for a change. He's a changed man! He even ironed his own shirts and cleaned the whole house, then took Aadi for a walk so I could finish my sewing in peace (it's been sitting on the table for weeks!). Yay!
Now if only I could help Aadi to stop chucking...

lismith - dont be embarassed! we're not experts, and it's a stressful job being a new mum, let alone all the other hectic stuff going on, so dont beat yourself up about it. I hope now you've figured things out, everything will get easier and you'll really start to enjoy things a whole lot more.

deancey - it's great that you've decided to go back to study! good on you! But tell me, how do you get your brain to work after having babies?? Mine's all squishy still... lol!

Jess - I hope your crew are all feeling better and over the tummy bug (not fun!). Also, great that you got to relax a bit yesterday after all your hard work in the garden. How do you manage with your DH working night shift? It must be such a tough job for both of you, especially if Tiahna's screaming during the day and he needs to sleep. Hope your week goes smoothly!
Ok, Aadi's still shouty. He's yelling again, not unhappy, just yelling for attention and someone to talk to! Better go.

I haven't popped in for a while & come in to see this news. Soo sad :(

Juliette has gotten herself into a little routine which will explain my absence... From 7.30am to 7.30pm she plays for 1/2 an hour, feeds, plays for 1/2 an hour, sleeps for an hour. So we're still on two hourly feeds or close to & she's awake for half the time in between. It's getting very hard to do anything during the day as she wants me close. She was also having trouble self settling so I'd spend 15 minutes settling every time. I tried the Fisher Price aquarium yesterday we got & she likes to watch it watch it as she dozes off. I just have to keep reminding myself, at least she sleeps over night.

jayda is on 3 to 4 hrs feeds. i have finally got her up to 150ml bottles. b4 she was having about 50mls every hr it was driving me insane lol.
i dont knwo wat i am doing wrong during the day but with her sleep. she only has 10min naps here and there. everyone else seems to be doing bigger sleeps and she will only sleep in her swing or bouncer during the day she wont sleep in the cot or porta cot when i am at work. she is awake most of the day and doesnt usually bother her. some days by the arvo she is over tired and a little poo but most of the time it is fine.

i have had the flu again is it hit me really hard this time. DH was at the footy last ngiht then stayed at his parents cause he had a few drinks and was easier to leave for work from their this morning. so i had a cranky bubba and i coudl hardly move i was that sick so it wasnt the best night for him to not be home. i ended up messaging him askin him to see if his mum could drop him home. i get a message back a hr later telling me that his mum said no. i was so p!ssed off. none of his family work and they never help us out.

That's such sad news about Chrissy's DH... I feel terrible now. Does anyone know how? My thoughts are with her and her family.

Sassy - you poor thing! I hope you recover soon. And I hope for your sake you can get some support from elsewhere, as your DH's family don't seem to be doing much for you that's positive! If I were nearby I would be round there with hot soup, hugs and a helping hand so you could relax for a moment and help Jayda to sleep. We all need some help like that sometimes (or all the time!!) and it should come from family, but it's not often the case, sadly.

It's real hard work getting the feed-play-sleep thing happening, and maintaining it. It takes a lot of effort, time and patience (oooh and we have loads of that, don't we?? LOL!), and I'm only just managing to get Aadi to take slightly longer daytime naps now. Disruptions to the routine are so detrimental too! He was happy to be awake all day, but it was driving me nuts! I'm finding, however, that it's working better doing it slightly different - quick feed-play-longer feed-sleep. Also, keeping a sleep diary has been useful, so I can basically predict when is a good time to go out, or do my chores and get some work done. I'm making the most of the time I have, and it actually makes me feel better to be more organised! Can't let the chaos take over (I'm SO good at chaos!). I'm usually really bad at structure and organisation, so this has been hard, but it's paying off and we're finally getting some decent sleep. 3 nights in a row now we've had 6-7 hours straight, followed by another 3. Still not self-settling, really, but getting there...

NaNa- Chrissy's DH had heart bypass surgury i think last yr and hasnt been well the last few months if my memory is correct... I read in another post today that he was in ICU on life support few days ago and passed away this morning or yesterday. Poor Chrissy has all the kids to look after now and also with a new bubba... Its just so sad...

Nana- you sound like your getting quite organised... God im still just taking things as they come... very hectic but with DP doing nights 1 weeks and days the next its hard to settle into anything much.

Sass- Great to see you've popped in... Hope you start feeling better soon... know what its like to have no help when ur sick... try chucking up and bfing. not nice,.....lol as for the cat naps I hear u... tiahna goes maybe 15-20 min MAX... usually 10 mins or so but is so damn grumpy in between... hands always in her mouth, drool everywhere, fussing, crying screaming at times. its a constant headache... her cheeks are bright red so not sure if its teething. The colic is at its peak ATM also... ur lucky Jayda is fine even when she's awake...

Sarah - i read ur post and thought it was my own... juliette and Tiahna seem to have similar issues.

I second this also... As soon as i step out of the same room its like Tiahna knows somehow... if she's asleep she wakes if she's awake she screams... its like she needs that constant eye contact with me... its a disaster... and so's the house at the moment. This morning i have just managed to do a load of laundry unload and reload the dishwasher... sweep and mop the tiles and thats it... and its taken me all day to get to them... I'm feeding every 2 hours... feeling like a dairy cow...my supply should be amazing but its not... need another boost of maxalon (which i mentioned weeks ago and still havent gotten around to getting... :rolleyes: i had her weighed with the AHN and her weight is the same as last week... still having wet nappies and poo's but no gain... (not sure if its the diff scales or not????)

oh ladies sorry to hear some of you are having rough times with bubs sleeping lets hope things improve shortly.
Liam is pretty good even though he is sick with cold, very snotty and has a gunky eye. He is still feeding 4-5 hrly thru the day and doing a 6-8 hr stretch over night. I am worried though that I will not be able to get him to feed at 7am each morning when I need to go to work. I am back in 2 1/2 weeks and our feeds as changing daily. Today we are on 8,12,4,8 and then whenever he wakes next. Yesterday we were 7 11 3 7 and then he went to 4am which is how we got onto 8am feed this morning. As i need to leave for work at 7.15 I need to feed him at 7 just before i leave... I hope we can get in order or I will need to tell work i will start when i get there and just do the 8 hrs from then. They are pretty flexable so that should be ok.

Chrissy sorry to hear about your dad, my thoughts are with your family.

i know i'm probably sounding ungrateful given that Tiahna is sleeping for 8-9 hours at night but i wish she'd feed a little less often or sleep more. I wouldnt mind if the awake time was spent with her being happy or just playing but the only happy time we have with her is first thing in the morning she will play and talk for ages then gets grumpy within 45min-1 hour so i feed her then she's happy but then its like never ending grumpy, feed, play, sook, feed sleep for 10 mins, play for 10 mins, the sook, sook, feed, play for 5 mins, sook, sook, feed... its doing my head in... with DP on nights trying to keep the 2 kids quiet so he can sleep is a nitemare... tomorrow i'll have to go out... today Tiahna sooked all damn day- nothing i did would stop her except booby. she wasnt even drinking most of the time just comfort sucking... her colic is dreadful, were onto the donnalix as the infants friend isnt working, her pains are so bad i feel like i sould give her panadol for the discomfort... she's grunting and fussing, kicking and fighting herself in pain... i know its the peak period of the colic but its doing my head in... Jordan has taken like 10 steps backwards this week... He has NEVER had an accident and today he was playing outside and comes to the door saying Oh Oh... i turn to see him wet his pants... Then not even an hour later he poops them... like ****!!! The house is a mess, i feel like a man with my hairy legs, i'm barely having time to go to the loo myself. I just wish jordan was better behaved and instead of doing things like that for attention he'd just come and talk to me... instead he's acting out, misbehaving, crying like a baby when you ask him to do things he normally would.

anyways Tiahna is screaming once again... another 11 oclock bed time for me i think... she was asleep but as usual woke up when i put her down. were still trying the controlled crying but its not working tonight.

Hope everyone else is well, i realy feel aweful whinging when poor chrissy has just lost her hubby... it all seems so irelevant and my problems seem so insignificant- i just feel like i should shut up and deal with it. things could be worse....

deancey - you're lucky that when you go back to work that they will at least be flexible with your start times. It sucks that you have to go back so soon, but at least you can have that option to start when you get there, not at a strict set time. Hopefully you and Liam will get a set routine happening with the feeds when it suits you both, but don't push it. Babies just have NO concept of time, do they?? haha!

Jess, you have every right to vent and complain (though you aren't really). You need an outlet for the frustration, and that's exactly what this forum is here for. Every bit helps, as long as it gets you communicating and not bottling it up inside and feeling guilty or something silly like that. You're doing it tough, and I give you credit for dealing with 2 kids who are both at difficult stages in their little lives at the same time! I can't really offer any advice (I'm a newbie at this mum business!) but I can certainly offer sympathy and support. I hope you can find something that works for you and your kids, and it will all be sorted and over with soon. Remember it's just a phase, and it will pass. There will come a day soon that you will be able to look back with pride at how well you coped with such a crazy time.
Nothing compares to Chrissy's situation, it's heartbreaking and tragic. I have no idea how anyone could find the strength to carry on when something so sad happens, for themselves, let alone their kids, but that's what so many mothers all over the world have to go through so often. So many times I hear guys saying they're the strong ones (my ex husband was always cr@pping on about it - hence the "ex" bit!) but they often don't have half the strength it takes to be a mother, let alone the courage to be a woman in this world! My heart goes out to Chrissy and her kids.
so whinge away. There will always be another woman who understands, or will at least listen to you. And usually there will be someone around here who will have some good advice.

Wow its been so long since i have been in here.

Lachlan's behaviour is much better now, both of the boys are just getting over the flu, it's been really bad for them.

Abbie is such a great baby she sleeps all night only wakes up about 3am for a 5 minute feed and is back asleep straight away. She is growing up so fast it makes me a bit sad that she is my last baby but so gratefull that i don't have to give birth again:)

Just got AF and has not really affected abbie feeding so i am lucky. She still has a bottle at night before she goes to bed which has not affected my milk supply.

Nikki- great to hear things are going well.. Its been a while since you have popped in... I just cant stay away... (no real support anywhere else) Glad to hear the boys are getting better wish i could say the same... I've been getting AF every 2 weeks the mini pill doesnt seem to keep them away... I'm not complaining... my TTC issues previously were that i wasnt getting AF at all so i guess its a good sign that my body is back to normal... hopefully the next one wont be so hard to concieve :crossfingers: No plans for me to stop just yet.

NaNa- thanks for the support and thats for well just listening( well reading... lol) i have decided to chart Tiahna also i'm trying to get a look at places where i can possibly maybe fix things to help myself out... I've actually gotten DS to have a little siesta which is lovely... Now Tiahna is about to nod off so i'm off to get an early start on dinner (preparation wise so i just have to cook it when everyone is ready...) DH has next 2 days off so will be great not to have to keep everyone and thing hush hush...

LMK nice to hear from you and to see the boys are well and back to normal. Its great to hear Abbies sleeping is going well too. Sounds like us, a feed between 2-4am and then back to sleep which is great.

Well last night I fed Liam at 8 then he didnt wake till 3am, then 8am. He is so good. I fed him at 3pm though, an hour early than normal. he was upset and took it so I am hoping i can now get and keep him on a 7 11 3 7 feed schedule. Heres hoping.

Jess i was like that after i had lachlan, except i would stop bleeding for two days and then get af back again. I had enough of it by 12 weeks and went on the pill and as a result lost my milk. I have heard that the mini pill will not make you regular thats why i had to go on the pill. Good luck with the BF and it does change the flavour of your milk when you get af.

Deancy good to hear liam is also sleeping well.

Hey everyone.
Havent posted for awhile but have been reading all the posts. Hamish went to MCHN today he now weighs 13pound 1 (5.904kg) and 58.5cm long. He feeds every 3 to 4 hours during daytime and usually sleep 6 to 7 at night feeds and then sleeps another 3 hours. During the day he has 2 big sleeps one for usually 3 hours and another for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. He is dribbling alot and sucking on his hands all the time.
LMK good to hear your boys are doing well, and Abbie is progressing well.
Jess vent all you like, we are all here to support each other especially when you are not getting any support at home. It must be frustrating with your Ds being young also, i hope things get better, but as NaNa said dont feel bad about venting here.
sassy123 sounds like you had a rough night without dh the other day, your MIL sounds like she is not very supportive, i would be P*#$*d off with them too.
deancey sounds like liams feeding is similiar to Hamish, although we dont have a routine i still feed on demand, but he rarely feeds under 3 hours during the day. It is difficult timing it for work though. Good luck.
NaNa i havent tried doing the feed-play-sleep routine, i am still just feeding and letting him sleep when he likes, I might have a go soon though, is anyone having succes with it?

Abb - Well, I was going to say the feed-play-sleep thing is successful, but today has been something else! It was feed-sleep-feed-play-feed-sleep-sleep-sleep!! Aadi's only been awake for an hour and a half at the most all day today, and I even put him in the sling and went out shopping on the tram for 2 and a half hours and he didn't stir once until I tried to put him in his cot when we got home! WHO KIDNAPPED MY SON? And replaced him with this magic sleeping baby??? :ROFL: Oh, but I've probably jinxed myself now and all those great nights' sleep we've been having will just disappear! Hope not. It's been SO nice. And he even settled by himself in his bed last night, only crying for about a minute before going off to sleep for 5 and a half hours. Perfect! Praying that it keeps up (I've got so much work to do!). Relaxing baths and massages are VERY helpful, I think, but who wouldn't relax after a soak in the tub and a nice massage? I know I want one. Daily, please!
I hope that he will start having just 2 long sleeps during the day like Hamish. We've got the night happening, but during the day he's feeding almost every 2 hours lately, and having half-hour naps, and the odd 2 hours here and there.
Off to the MCH nurse on Friday, to see how much this boy's grown.

oh wouldn't you know it?! up every hour last night with dreadful lower wind. poor bubba, and poor me... such an icky mess to clean up when he finally pushes it all out. EW! TMI! So tired now...

NaNa poor aadi and you. Hamish used to get bad lower wind and constipation (before going to chiro) i know what its like, there is not alot you can do to help them either. I hope you have a chance to get a nap in today.

thanks Abb... I'm trying to get us to a chiro ASAP, but the one I want to go to is on the other side of town and I dont drive! I know it will help, but it's such a nightmare on public transport in this city. I pity anyone with a disability, or in a wheelchair. It's impossible with a pram! Gotta go inspect 2 houses today because we have to move. No sleep for NaNa... *pouting*

Afternoon all..
Today Jordan is at preschool and its been a blessing... Tiahna has been fantastic.. Been sleeping for a good hour and a half now... She's been an angel all day. Slept from 9-7 this morning. Still feeding every 2 hours but i think thats from milk supply issues still... i havent had a chance to get any more maxalon. I've been tring everything else, increasing the water, peeing like i'm pregnant again... lol

LMK-i dont want to stop breastfeeding just yet so i'll have to put up with it... Its annoying but i'm just glad my body is working again... I guess it has a lot to catch up on i didnt get a period for a yr before i fell preg and had 1 day of AF (on the meds to make me get them) and then i fell preg... SO should be happy i have AF...

Abb- Hamish sounds like he's in a great routine... Tiahna is also dribbling HEAPS too... have to use bibs (but she keeps putting them in her mouth or covering her face wuth them... She sucks on everything, 2 hands, fingers, the blanket, toys, my hair...lol As for the feed play sleep we have been doing Play feed, play, top up feed, and sleep but its been great for he learning to self settle... No more needing to be held and comfort sucking on booby to fall asleep ... just may have to give it your own twist to get it to work... I found Tiahna likes to have a little rest inbetween feeds. she has one side has a little play then will take more. Kinda frustrating having boobs out all day (thats what it feels like) but just glad she's loving my milk still...

Still having issues with her taking the bottle... think i need to try regularly everyday. But its a hassle cos she really hates it... works her up so much that she ends up screaming the house down. Might give it a break and start in few weeks time.

NaNa- Tiahna has same issues the other day... when she finally pooped she was like a whole new child. i have been starting the infants friend earlier on (like first signs of lower wind or hard to get up wind so its not a huge build up before bed at night. some days she's ok and others are just aweful... looking into the chiro aswell just waiting for a friend of mine to finnish up her 3 visits to let me know if she's happy with her guy. Would rather a personal recommendation then going for a HUGE add in the Yellow pages.

Well best be off, have washing to take off before i pick up the noise and attitude...:rolleyes:
