Things here are going well... Tiahna slept great last night 10.30- 4.30 fed and i put her back in the rocker and she went back to sleep till 8. now she's has a feed, some awake time and couldnt keep her eyes opened when DS wanted a hold so she fell asleep in his arms... He was stoked
Deancey- i want to see that movie also... heard its a great film...
Sarah- hope the day went well and juliette settle with DH ok... Hope she eventually took her bottle... I know how hard it is to get bubs to take a bottle.. I'm still not able to get tiahna to take a bottle still or even a dummy... i thought i's be easy when she took a few bottles but now flat out refuses and can go ages without a feed and still not want it... its so frustrating... but also nice that she loves booby so much.. LOL Its great that the kids stay hime with DH aswell... and your hours are great... it would be reat to work those hours... i need to speak to work about my hours when i go back... i'm thinking of asking if i can do 1/2 days for a few weeks till tiahna gets used to being away from me... also DS will be in school not next yr the yr after so i'm looking at cutting down the day but an hour so i can get back to pick him up... but not looking forward to going back its only 2 days 9-3 but i just cant imagine having to leave her for that long... I'm such a sook..
LOL about expressing in your "boss's " office... that would feel a bit weird having boobs out... i just had thought about me in my boss's office doing the same... worst part is all the offices have glass windows all around... no privacy at all... the kitchen is the only place but the male toilet is located through the kitchen door... hmmmm might have to tell them tough have to wait.. i guess it wouldnt take long to express... just have to make sure no one walks in...
Its quite difficult for me to make meet ups... my DS is so naughty and misbehaves so much its quite embarrasing... i have no control over him ATM... he's going through a bad stage where he refuses to listen and do as he's told... i had a GF over and i was so embarrased, i felt like he was the parent and i was the child.... i'm really at a dead end with him. maybe we could organise a meet up somewhere like the play lands or something... at least he can just be running round burning off energy and not back chatting or yelling at me... (its so aweful to have no control, i feel like a failure, and its not like we dont try to discipline him, or try to work things out with him)
Deancey and sarah- your both so lucky to have your DH's home to watch the kids while your at work. wish my DP could, i'd be a bit less worried. (well maybe not... he's not that godd with them so maybe there best at day care...)
best be off, have washing to do and i need to unpack the dishwasher...
Things are going well here too. Ds has settled down now since being sick, he feeds on average every 3 hours during day and usually 4 to 5 at night. We put him in his cot about a week ago and its working out really well. I put him down awake and he settles himself off to sleep, during the day he is great and at night he usually cries for a few minutes, i usually go in 2 or 3 times to give him his dummy before drifting off to sleep. I still wrap him tightly to go to bed, does everyone else wrap there baby's or do they wear gro bags? I have a gro bag but Hamish sleeps better wrapped.
Sarah i hope Juliette settled for dh in the end, i know its hard leaving them. I have been bak at work since ds was 3 weeks old, i work for my mum and the first few times i took hamish with me and was able to feed etc at work but this week dp looked after him at home giving him a bottle but he takes it fine as he has one every night at home. I only work 2 nights a week and only for 4 hours so he only usually needs one feed.
I went to Mumma Mia friday night with my mum, sis and dd. It was fantastic, best movie i have seen for a long time. Recommend everyone to go see it, i havent laughed like that for ages, i really need it.
Best be off to get some washing done.
Hi ladies....hope you all had a nice weekend.
Lily has been going ok, sleeping occassionaly during the day and quite well at night. She usually goes 4 to 5 hours of a night, except last night.... it was every 3 hours :( oh well. Lily has been sleeping in a bond suit then a sleeping bag, but she is too big for her bag now. I have another one but it is really big (size 0 to 1) do you think it would be ok for her to sleep in that? She won't take being wrapped... hasn't since she was about 5 weeks old. She will go to sleep but when she slightly wakes and she can't move her arms she struggles and wakes herself up fully....instead of just going back to sleep.
my SIL has just come back from seeing the dark knight and thought it was great. I can not wait to see it.... batman begins is my favourite movie, I love christian bale as batman :)
I want to see mamma mia too.... I saw sex and the city about 2 weeks ago and it was so good.... i laughed and cried so hard! Its great that there are so many good movies at the moment.... a movie and maybe dinner is about as long as I can stand being away! LOL
good on you for expressing at work sarah.... I am going to have to find somewhere to do that too. I go back to work in October for 5 days each fortnight and there is nowhere to express as all the office have windows with no blinds! I figure there is our telecommunications room has only one small window so I will do it there and put up a wrap or something... :) I have been trying to express a little bit after each feed to ensure there is always one feed in the fridge for DH and I have now got some in the freezer for when I go back.
I got great news on friday too. I was on a waiting list for reading time at the library (for newborns up to 12 months) and we got into sessions in October. Unfortunately for me it is on a monday which is one of the days that I work. But DH told me he is very keen to take Lily, so they will go to the library for the 12pm class each monday for 4 weeks and then have lunch with me on the way home. And hopefully i will be able to feed her then too :)
oh dear lily is up....
bye for now
Abb- great to hear DS is doing well now and GREAT on him sleeping in his cot, i havent even tried with tiahna... she's been sleeping so well in the rocker i'd hate to unsettle her sleeping... SHe was FANTASTIC last night. slept from 10-7 this morning... i feel GREAT.. (dont mean to rub it in sorry) i never had this luxury with my DS he would only sleep 2 hours at a time during the night and 2 hours awake before he'd go back to sleep... he was never a sleepy baby after the first 3 days. even now he's up at the latest 7.30am and can still be awake at 11-12 at night... he just doesnt get tired... if i put him to sleep earlier he's up at 3-4am.
I still wrap Tiahna but she hates her arms in so i just wrap like the elbows tucked in and that way if she wakes and pulls them they easily come out- otherwise she gets grumpy and fights the blanket. The reason we havent tried the cot also is that her room is FREEZING at night. which is why she wont sleep in our room either... we have an oil heater but she still loves the lounge room with the gas heater going... (its costing a fortune but so worth it for the sleep.) also WOW at being back at work since ds was 3 weeks old.. thats awesome strength you have. i must sound like i big sook not wanting to go back in dec.
Tiahna has been wanting more and moore feeds... i guess my supply needs to catch up to her once again... she had a bad period of screaming last night i ended up having to hold her tightly against my chest patt her butt and hold her hands down as she gets so tired (well overtired) and screams till she's blue and always fussing and rubbing at her face... its so distressing to see she scratches and practically gouges (spl) her eyes out. but once asleep i'm so stressed and upset the long sleep is just what i need.
Is it normal for her to sleep so long without a feed??? she still sleeps during the day (less and less everyday) still has a few 2-3 hour sleeps.
Jess - thats fantastic tiahna is sleeping so well for you, my dd slept from 10 til 7 from 6 weeks old, she was a great baby. Maybe its a girl thing lol. Hamish woke twice last night 2 and 6.15, he is still sleeping now. I still wrap him tightly as he is all arms atm, but i thought i might try not wrapping him for his morning sleep today to see how he goes, i was given 2 grobags and have not used them as yet. He loves sleeping in his cot, we have a bed in his room aswell so i start off sleeping in my room and when he wakes for a feed i usually feed him in his room and often sleep in there awaiting the next feed so i dont wake dp or dd. I also find it hard to go back to sleep in my room if dp is snoring.lol Ikwym about the heating costing a fortune, we have central heating and i usually leave it on all night or swirch it on during the night, but as you said it is worth it. You are not a sook with the work thing, i have the luxury of working for family, which means i can take ds with me if i want, i did this every time except for saturday night as dp offered to look after him, i did get more done without having him there. I think dp felt more comfortable from looking after him friday night when i went to movies which is fantastic as i never had the help with dd's father.
Hi Ladies
Well Liam has been doing really well. He is sleeping ok overnight between 4-6 hrs but nothing constant it varies each night. He is self settling pretty well during the day also which I am pleased about as DS#1 wasnt very good at that.
I started to feel sick last night, sore throat and ears and aching body. Each time I woke up to feed Liam my left boob was engorged????? This morning I fed him off it 1st and then expressed another 100 ml out of it to ease the pain. His poo has also turned a more thick green ( sorry TMI ) so I am not sure if he isnt feeling too well either?
Apart from that all is good.
Abb thats excellent that you can take Hamish into work with you it must make life a lot easier.
Jess I am so envious of Tiahnas fantastic sleeps. I cant wait for Liam to decide he can last the entire night without his boobs.
Alicia you can get cheap sleeping bags from best and less they are about $15 and they also have the hole for the seat belt so you can keep bubs in the sleeping bag when putting them into car. I would think size 0 would be too big and she may get tangled in it during the night?
Hope all bubs are doing well. We are off to get needles this afternoon so will let you know how that goes..... OH i hate getting them done.
We finally did it! We broke the 5-hour sleep barrier!
Saturday night Aadi had the longest sleep he's ever had - 5 and a half hours - which was awesome for me, but it was followed by the worst bout of lower wind ever... awake and crying from 3 to 6 am. DP was so distraught, he'd never seen Aadi like that, and it shook him up a bit. I finally managed to get him comfortable and settled enough to sleep a couple more hours after that, and he was fine most of Sunday, but I sent DP out for the Brauers anyway. We got another 5 hour sleep last night, but of course I woke up at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep... argh! But we're moving forward gradually, and I managed to maintain some sense of routine over the weekend. We had friends over, and they brought us a whole lot of great stuff for baby from their 18-month-old twins. I am so stoked at getting such good pre-loved stuff, as I haven't had to buy much at all (and couldn't really afford it anyway!).
I put Aadi in a microfleece sleeping bag that I picked up from Coles for about $5. It's great, but wont fit him for much longer. I also have a couple of bigger ones, and one that my mum made, that I will definitely use next winter. I used to wrap Aadi up tight because his crazy arms would keep him awake ('cause he'd smack himself in the head!), but he's got them under control now! Still swinging punches and scratching up his face now and then, but only when he's awake. Still have to use a couple of blankets, tho, as it's so cold. Only problem is his hands get really cold because he puts them up by his face when he's asleep.
I am SO over this winter thing... everything becomes a hassle, especially BF with all these layers of clothes. And laundry. And heating bills...
I tried to give Aadi a bottle, but he wouldn't take it. Oh well. No real urgency for it. I'm not going back to work any time soon, and I'm looking at ways I can work from home if I need to. Childcare places are practically non-existent around here. I think I'd be useless if I had to go to work now! I can't focus on anything that's not baby-related...
Jess - apparently by around 2 months bubs will start to sleep longer and adapt better to a routine of day sleeps. Looks like Tiahna's right on schedule! Even if your DS wouldn't sleep much then, maybe this time it will happen for you. I haven't put Aadi in the cot yet either for the same reason as you. Also, the room where we put his cot is really noisy, so hopefully we can move before too long. I'm happy with the co-sleeping thing for now, anyway.
Abb - love that pic of Hamish! Those big chuckles are priceless, aren't they?
Alicia - library sessions sound great! I'm going to have to check it out.
Sarah - lol at getting the boobs out in the boss' office! It's not THAT kind of job, surely!! kidding!
deancey - are you feeling any better today?? that's exactly how I felt when I got mastitis, so take care of yourself.
Well finally got tiahna back to sleep... she's been awake since 7am slept for 15 mons and woke up... I just wrapped her up tight and she went straight off to sleep...
I'm so angry... yesterday DS got hold of some scissors in the bathroom- and decided to snip a big chunk off the top... I was feeding tiahna and DP was sleeping... he went in to wash his hands for a hold after i fed and after a minute of no water i walked in to find his hair covered in DP's gell and hair on the bench.. i bathed him and saw the damage... a big ? shape on the top... i had to get the clippers out and cut it short (still noticed it..) then today i went out to check the puppies... he was watching scooby doo so i thought i'd be ok... NOPE DP cut his hair last night and left the clippers plugged in on the vanity and now jordan had a HUGE shaved bald patch right in front... i'm so angry... i rang DP and had a go at him for not packing them away... but he got the *****s at me for not watching him... i cant win... he cant be trusted for 5 mins while i let the dog out for a break. he needs 24 hour supervision now i 'll need to completly shave his head so it wont look so bad... now i;'m about to hang the washing out so i have to get him to stand out there in the cold while i do it... next thing he'll try to cut tiahna's hair or something...
His Nan has him all worked up about having sexy hair and hair cuts... everytime she comes over or takes him out she has to get his hair cut or make him gel it... so all he kept saying was "sexy hair for nanna" i making sexy hair for nanna" . i cant wait for this cold wether to go away so he can get outside and play on the swings and not get into mischief... the house has too many things he can get into... if its not the bathroom its the kitchen... i fill up his drink bottle so he can help himself if i'm feeding but he gets fruit and tries to cut it up or make sandwiches etc... i know he thinks he's a big boy now but OMG... how do i teach him he's still to little for scissors and knifes??? i started the "BIG HANDS" thing but it isnt sinking in...
NANA- yay on the 5 + hours sleep... its great to have some solid sleep...
Deancey- thats what happened with me... one boob was always filling up... no lumps or sick feeling but achy all over... is it sore??? could be mastitis??? which reminded me my last feed i notices a lumpy line type raised bit under my nipple and when i pressed on it my milk squirted out... obviously it was a blockage... i have hand expressed from it now and the lump has gone away... it was weird it felt like i was squeezing a bubble under the skin and it shot the milk out like a water pistol... was funny (well shocked me when i first pressed and it wet everywhere... Also tiahna's poo has change also.. not in colour but its a bit more chunky... sorry TMI... maybe its an increase in thicker milk or something???
jess:thanks for the pm.
sorry i havnt been on much everything is soooooooooo full on. jayda has had gastro the poor bub and i have had the flu and DH has it now and of course he is dying lol.
Work is so full on. jayda loves watchign the kids so it means i have to hold her up or prop her up in the pram to watch them or she sooks all day. yesterday she wanted a feed nearly every 1.5hrs, it was crazy. she has 3x150mls, 2x 125mls 4x100mls. She had started only waking once for a feed and was doing that for a week or so but since she has been sick she is back to 2 or 3 feeds a night. i am so tired and exhusted. Dh works long hrs so i dont expect him to get up when he has to work the next day. he leaves home at 445am and doesnt get home till 645pm.
sorry that i just pop in and wirte about myself but i really dont have much time to catch up each time. just thought i would pop in cause jess messaged and asked me to come in lol.
Sassy sorry to hear you have all been sick and that it has affected Jaydas feeding I am sure she will get back to a similar routine to before she was sick soon.
Jess OMG I can beleive Jordan cut his hair TWICE..... I would have been mortified ( and laughed later ). It must be something in the name as Jordan has been getting up to mischeif aswell when I am feeding or doing housework although his is STRIPPING. He is forever coming in naked and I find his clothes all over the place. Thanks for the info about your boob situation. I am feeling better now and they seem to have settled so I think whatever it was has left the buidling :)
Well this morning I took the boys for a walk up to the milkbar so I could buy the paper and I got Jordan a baby chino from the coffee shop. He walked the entire way home pushing his stroller and then played outside so I am rapted that he has settled for a nap YEAH. Liam had his needles yesterday, DH took him as I am terrible with them. Liam did well but his left leg has got a huge red lump on it, which is apparently normal. It looks awful though.
Last night he slept really well. I fed him at 7pm and then he woke at 1.30am and then 5.30am. I was very impressed. If only he would do a dream feed I might get to sleep till 5.30-6.00 from 10 or 11 at night but I am sure he will sort himself out soon.
Anyway gotta do some housework whilst the boys are in bed.
Hey Sassy, sorry to hear your crew's been sick. That's awful. Hope everyone's feeling better soon, and your DH doesn't die from his man-cold! LOL! Hopefully things will get back to normal soon and you can get some rest.
Jess - tragicomedy... I hope you can laugh about it one day, though it must be driving you NUTS right now. If you figure out a way of keeping him out of mischief, let me know, cause I reckon my boy is going to be BIG trouble in a few years' time!! Better lock up all my chef gear now, I reckon!
deancey - good to know you're feeling better, and it wasn't the dreaded mastitis, coz it sux big time. It must be tricky dealing with having older kids now that they've got new siblings, and they probably haven't quite grasped the responsibility yet, and they're getting up to mischief because you can't give them 100% of your attention. I don't know how some women manage three kids under three years old... scary!
We had our first new parents group meeting today, and Aadi was very well behaved even though I had to wake him up and take him in the pram in this dreadful weather. I even managed to get up and make cakes to take and share. Considering I had completely forgotten the meeting was today (remembered when I saw the notice on the fridge at 8:30!!), and I actually made it there on time, I think that's quite an achievement. Mummy-brain was happening, and I just lost track of the days. Which is cr@p because it means we've got the immunisation tomorrow, and I'm not entirely prepared for that. I have to be strong... and I think I'm just going to turn into a sobbing mess!
Oh well. We're back to the 3-4 hour sleeps at night again, it seems. The weekend of 5 hours' sleep seems like a lifetime ago now...
OK, Aadi's awake again (it's been 20 minutes..) and I gotta go to the post office and pick up my fluffy mail. Yay for fluffy mail!!
i have been reading through everyones posts abit and i seem to be pretty lucky with jaydas sleeping. she sleeps for about 6hrs the first time she goes down at night then every 2to 3 hrs after that. she is startingto wake up more now but i think it is because she is gettin too big for the bassinet. she has about 10cm if that and when i go to put her in of a night she streches her arms out and they hit as i put her in and she wakes up. i coudl hear her hittin the side last ngiht so i think thats y she hasnt been sleeping as long. i am going to try to get her cot into my room this arvo. i dont want to put he rin her room yet as it is really cold and we have no curtains in there yet. the window covers one whole wall and no matter where i put the cot it is pretty close to the window so i would rather keep her in our room where it is nice and warm. Also i want to get her back into her longer sleep be she goes into her own room. she will be 10 before i am ready i think lol.
my internet is workin a bit better now so hopefully i will be on alot more and will beable to catch up on personals better.
on kids cuttin there hair, i have one kid that i cant trust to do cuttin and pasting. he alwasy cuts everything his clothes, his hair, everyone elses stuff and clothes. It is very hard explaining to the parents when they come of a arvo. even when u r watching them it can happen so fast.
today jayda has bee weird with her feeds she will sook for a bottle but only have like 50mls at a time. prob still full from yesterday. i was reading a site about signs for when baby is read for food and all the signs jayda is doing now but i know she is still too young. wat would people recommend to use as a first food when she is older?
Ok, I didn't get to the post office yet. Aadi went back to sleep (shock! horror!)
Sassy, I would wait as long as possible to start on solids. Babies' digestive systems aren't ready till at least 4 months, and you can leave it as long as 6 months on just breastfeeding. The gut flora isn't developed enough to handle much else before that, which is why there's such a difference in formula-fed babies' poohs compared to BF babies... Oh, and it's cheaper when you don't have to feed baby real food!! But as for first foods, that can depend on your diet and cultural background. Most people I know start with infant rice cereal mixed with breast milk, but some of my African friends just mash up some of whatever they're eating with their fingertips and feed their babies by hand (no spoons, whatever). Just a bit on the finger. That way they are used to the taste from the mother's milk already, and it's really just the textural thing they need to learn.
You can get infant rice cereal just for babies. After bubs gets used to the new texture of "solid" food, you can start on pureed vegies mixed with breast milk. I have a list in a baby book that suggests when introducing solids to maybe try:
Week 1 baby rice
2 carrot
3 pumpkin or squash
4 pear
5 parsnip, apple
6 banana, potato
7 zucchini, mango, melon
8 green beans, peaches, nectarines
9 natural yoghurt, red lentils
10 leeks, chicken, cauliflower
11 oats, cheese
12 white fish, grains such as quinoa, polenta, millet
13 pasta, onion, grapes
14 bread, lamb
15 beans, spinach
16 apricots, celery, capsicum
17 tomatoes, salmon
18 eggplant, mushrooms
19 peas, egg yolk
20 tofu or beef, citrus fruit (such as mandarines)
It's also best to leave a few days before introducing a new food just to see if there's any allergic reactions, and then after a while you can start to mix two or more ingredients together, like carrot and pumpkin etc. Once baby's eating lots of different foods you can start introducing things like garlic and mild seasoning spices. But you shouldn't cut down on milk feeds until after 1 year.
Oh, and I can't wait to start cooking for my baby! I used to be a chef (once upon a time) and I cooked for a childcare centre for a year or so. It was great, and kids can be really adventurous so don't be scared to let them try anything!
NaNa- i think Sassy is bottle feeding. thanks for the suggestions though i'm always thinking about ideas...
I started DS on farex with EBM at 3-4 months then when i had to switch to formula i added the formula. I also used to add it occasionally to his bottle to thicken up the milk. I used to also mush up the food we were eatting (not till later on though) put everything in the blender (depending on what there was) you can freeze things too in Ice cube trays and defrost when needed.
the first foods are like NaNa said just getting them used to the texture and flavours of other food... I have heard that you can dip dummy into food for them to try but i dont agree with that until later... although i have tried diping the dummy in my cuppa but still she wont suck on it.
Was HORRIFIED the first time and the secong with the bare clippers i cried and cried... to fix it he needs almost a full shave:wall:
deancey- i get that too... ATM he's been trying to use the loo all by himself and (***TMI ALERT ****) But when he's wiping he's putting poop everywhere.. Not nice, especially when its ususlly when Tiahna is screaming. Also i sound like i'm lucky with the sleeping... Also being able to Dream feed... except sometimes she'll sleep through the whole feed and then wake up when she's done.
NaNa- whats Fluffy mail???? Also i agree with being adventurous my son eats the most yummiest sounding meals at daycare,.....
Tiahna has been a bit off today... crying like she's in pain all day... sleeping for 15-25 mins then waking up crying... cant figure out whats wrong... had a slight increase in temp 38.3 not sure if thats too hot she's usually about 37 with my thermometre. i gave her a small dose of panadol few minutes ago so we'll see if it helps out.
Jess - substitute "formula or whatever milk baby is having" for breastmilk anywhere in my previous post... I shoulda just said milk, but then someone mighta thought I meant cows milk... and that's not on. Too confusing. Yeah, I agree about not liking the idea of using a dummy to give food, but then I dont use a dummy full stop. And I LIKE playing with my food heheheh! The carers at the childcare centre used to hate me for giving the kids couscous for lunch, because so much of it would end up where it didn't really belong, but the kids all loved it so much, and I used to encourage playful eating. I'm naughty.
Fluffy mail is the big box of MCN (modern cloth nappies) I just received. The cutest, fuzziest bum-wear! I must get over to the cloth nappy forum and proclaim my addiction!
And Aadi has been asleep in his pram for over 2 and a half hours now. I'm not even going to take him out until he wakes up, because I'm loving having no 5 o'clock grizzlies, and eating dinner with BOTH HANDS (yes, I used my hands!). Am I going to pay for this later? No sleep for NaNa tonight? Maybe...
well we had an awesome night last nigh. Liam was fed by DH EBM at 8.30 I expressed when I got home from dancing and went to bed. I was woken by Liam at 2.30am for feed and then not again until 7am. OMG that is perfect.
He has been a dream today I had my GFs little girl over to play with Jordan so he was entertained today. He has gone to sleep after a few screams and cries but he so needed it.
I am glad everyone seems to be going so well.
Nana- i though i had actually typed what you wrote about substituting breast ,ilk for formula but must have been distracted... Didnt want Dan to think you could only use breast milk... Thanks for clearing it up though... i love some of your ideas for babies first foods... anyone know how long food can be frozen for??? when can i start making little serves for the freezer???
I know its a while off tiahna is only 2 months tomorrow.... also hope you get some sleep tonight..
Deancey- YAY on liams sleep... i have had 2 awesome nights in my own bed... so nice to get the long sleeps and not be on the lounge... hopefully they'll continue...
Well DP is at work tonight so its me and the kids... I put jordan to bed and he's asleep but now Tiahna is awake and wanting to be picked up... might give her a little bit more of a feed and try to get to bed early for once...
Hope you all have a good night.
OMG! Get the champagne! Aadi slept for 9 hours straight last night!!
We had a pretty rough day yesterday, with wind and hiccups and no more than 2 half-hour naps, but after a bath with lavender oil, a massage and being wrapped up tight, he finally slept at 9pm. We were supposed to go and get his needles yesterday, but I decided to wait till next week as he was so unsettled.
BBs were about to burst this morning...
Now, after a feed and a change, he's asleep again. I REALLY hope this is the start of a regular sleep pattern. I feel almost human again!!
Jess, you can freeze food safely for about 3 months, and up to 6 months in most freezers, longer in a deep-freeze. But I'm going to wait until Aadi's started on solids and just prepare what's in season then. If there's something yummy available then (like mangoes and raspberries!) I'll definitely freeze some of that for later. Cooking and long-term freezing can remove some nutrients from foods, so I wouldn't get too carried away just yet... Another thought, rather than just regular ice-cube trays to freeze portions of food in - I got some cheapo silicon mini-muffin trays that can be frozen. They're a bit bigger than ice-cube trays, so suitable for freezing slightly larger portions for when bubba is ready for bigger serves. Freeze and then pop out the meal-popsicles into a sandwich bag. I use them already for stuff like extra egg whites left over from a recipe, or citrus juice, or whatever I've got in bulk from the markets coz it's in season. oh, and individual serves of the peach sorbet I made last summer... yum.
OK, I'm delirious and a bit nutty from too much sleep, and I'm just babbling! Who started talking about food?? I could go on and on if you let me... but this is a baby buddies thread, I'll get kicked out!
Have a wonderful day everyone!!
i am so cranky i wrote a big post of personals yesterday and my laptop died and i lost it all grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
nana: woooo hooo withe h 9hrs sleep ur so lucky. jayda did a once off one like that and i felt bad cause i thought i didnt wake up for her feed lol.
jayda is only 9 weeks but she is moving around so much. we put her on the floor and 10min later she is in a dif spot she wiggles around so much. And i think i am going to have to get one of those antiroll thing for her cot cause no matter how hard i tuck her in she still end up up the top right hand corner all squished up.
i am tryin to stretch out her feeds to see if i can get her back to drinking over 100mls at a time instead of 50mls every 1.5hrs. is there anythign else i can do?
jess: how did everything go with ur moving r u all settled proply yet. we still have a few things to unpack which i prob shold just throw out, if we havnt needed them yet i dont think we will lol.
Hi ladies
Sorry i have been missing for a while. Lachlan has been really trying lately so i am trying to spend more time with him.. He is finally asleep now:dance: Poor thing he is getting his two year old molars at the moment so i really feel for him.
Its great ot hear that everyones bubs are sleeping better. Abbie sleeps through the night most nights now so i cant complain. She moves around so much when she is on the floor now. And she really wriggles and nearly comes out of her bouncer so i have to buckle her in now cause i was naughty and did not always buckle her in.
Sorry there are too many posts to catch up on but hopefully i will get on here each day to keep up to date. Abbie has just done a big poo so i had better go and change her.
Take care
Nikki
Hey everyone..
Just a quick one for me today, i know i haven't done personals or been on for a few days ive been busy trying to think of marketing ideas for my mums catering business and have spent so much time on computer doing flyers etc. Hamish has done a couple of 5hr night sleeps but nothing any longer and still feeding regularly during day. I took him to my chiro today as i was worried about shape of his head after being stuck in labour. She was amazed he was sleeping etc at all, she said his head was very distorted at the sides which caused alot of the behavours i had mentioned to her (not being able to bring up wind, constipation, feeding often etc). I was a bit dubios about taking him so young but heard so many great things from family and friends of her work with babies as young as a day old. Anyway she worked on him for around 15 min or so, we left i fed him and he has now been asleep for 3 hours, crossing fingers it helps him sleep better at night. We have to go back next week but i can already see the shape of his head has changed.
I best be off to get some washing done, or maybe just relax feels like i have been a crazy women last few days.
Well we've had the worst day... After a GREAT night sleep today Tiahna has been so out of sorts. She's been crying all day, sleeps for 10 mins and wakes up. I've given her colic stuff as she's had bad wind pain all day and cant manage to get it all out... everytime i pit her to sleep she wakes up as soon as i put her down... DP is working nights and i'm exhausted... My head is pounding from her crying all day... I havent been getting many letdowns last few days now she's awake again ... best be off sorry no personals...
Sass, LMK and ABB, i'll read your posts later and add personals... Hope everyone is well... think i'm in for a rough night... Guess i deserve it for braging about my great lil sleeper...
Hello Ladies
well all going well here. Zali still has some wind issues but the Brauers Colic Relief is working wonders... she is sleeping well at night, goes to bed at 11:30pm and wakes any time between 4:30am-7:30am.
She still has not learnt to roll over just yet, I am not sure if it is because we still swaddle her at night or what??
She is very active though, her little hands and legs move like crazy all the time when she is awake, something is always moving on her.
Got her hip scan results today and she has been diagnosed with Hip Displaysia Type IIa, not sure how bad that is so we are off to see a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon to discuss it further. Fingers crossed all is good.
NaNa yay on great sleep and thanks for the food advice.
Jess - sorry you had a bad day yesterday, hope today has been better for you!
I hope all is going well for everyone else, sorry bub has just woken up and is getting cranky, better go see what is going on.
Cheers
Mecil
Jess sorry to hear you had a bad day with Tiahna I hope you got some good rest in at some point. I hope she settles better for you tomorrow.
Mecil I dont think wrapping Zali would stop her from learning to roll. As long as she is getting plenty time of floor when awake she will learn how to do it.
Abb Liam is only doing max 6.5 hrs overnight so I think 5 hrs from Hamish is pretty good. They will eventually work themselves out and eventually be sleeping thru the night.
LMK sorry to hear you are having tough time with Lachlan I hope he settles soon.
Well I really couldnt have asked for better kids today. I went into work to have lunch with friends at 12.30 then went to MILs for the rest of the arvo. Liam fed in the cafe and Jordan ate his lunch in the highchair. He was in undies and didnt have any accidents YEAH Liam slept like an angel at MIl and on the way home both boys sleep. They are now both fed and in bed. Oh I just love it when they both co operate and the day goes well.
Getting myself waxed downstairs on monday.A little nervous about my c section scar but my beautition is aware of it as has been doing it with prev scar so will just be extra careful. I cant stand being hairy downstairs anymore ( sorry TMI )
Hope you have a nice friday night ladies
Well Tiahna has been quite unsettled still, I'm noticing when she's over tired more now she's sucking on her hands and crying alot, as she refuses a dummy i've been popping her on the boob, which is making her tummy aches worse. I'm now having to resort to wrapping her tight with her hands beside her and just tapping her butt while i rock her... She screams so much i try the dummy but sometimes she'll give in and suck on it and others she'll just scream herself to sleep... Wish she would self settle... Last night after 3 housr of trying and 5 times getting her to sleep everytime i'd put her down she's wake up crying... Its that cry that makes you get that horrid feeling like she's hurt... and she 1/2 asleep... Its aweful... Once she finally wears herself out she sleeps well but its getting her into that deep sleep thats the issue the last few days... I started using the high chair as it lays back, also is a low chair, I just move her around from chair to floor, to rocker to basinette, but ATM nothing much is working except me. She's sleep in my arms, over my legs on her tummy, i just managed to transfer her from me to the curved pillow on the lounge. Hopefully she'll sleep for a while and be happy when she wakes up... Is everyone still demand feeding or do you have a routine set???
I'm pretty much demand feeding and taking everyday as they come... i cant complain too much she's still sleeping quite well at night some night ahe wakes up any where from 2-5 but goes back to sleep for few more hours. Last night she was asleep at 10.50pm and woke up at 5.45 this morning and didnt go back to sleep til 7 and only slept for 1/2 hour. so even though were having bad days were still having fantastic nights even if she wakes up once its still great, my DS would wake every 2 hours.
Deancey- sound like liam is sleeping well also, Tiahna is rolling every now and then- i've noticed it takes a while but she's learning, its usually when she see's something and she trys to bend her back to see it, It takes alot of her energy so not sure if she's a little young to be trying??? Also YAY on jordan not having any accidents... Its great to go out nappy free... IKWYM about hairy but i've always been like that. I'm sure you feel like a new woman come monday night...
Mecil- fingers crossed all goes well for zali's check up- Also i agree with Deancey- swaddling shouldnt affect her progress, as long as she's having plenty of time to learn and practice...
i wrap Tiahna up still during the night and day but let her have free play without any wrap, also at night when the house is warm i give her nappy free time i use the huggies change mats on top of her play gym so she's occupied. The toys catch her eyes and she turns to see all the different things. Once she's had enough (10 mins or so) i've had time to get the bath and pj's ready, start dinner and then we bath her dress her and she has more play time on her tummy so she can then see the mat. Only lasts 5 mins or so as she's not fond of tummy time much. she sits in the rocker or hi chair while i finish cooking and serve up dinner (she loves watching everyone eat... She watches every one get the food and put it in their mouths. :cryinglaugh:
Sass- i have the anti roll thingy, it doesnt do much really tiahna still ends up on her side. Hope things are going ok with you. Same with you have few boxes that avent been unpacked that were obviously not missing...
LKM- IKWYM, Jordan is the same, he had preschool on friday- he had a blast, teachers said he was excellent so i took him up the shop and had a splurge and brought him a few things... Made him feel good that he got lots of presents for being well behaved. It worked been excellent today with the boys so DP is off to get the trampoline he was promised for being good. (i wanted DP to wait for his B'day but i think deep down he wants a go also... :cryinglaugh:)
NaNa- YAy on the Big Sleep, makes you feel so refreshed in the morning... hope it continues
Jess sorry to hear you are having trouble setting Tiahna the crying must be hard but it sounds as though you are working thru it so well done. I hope she starts to self settle soon for you.
Well today I got to sleep in, Jamie got up to Liam at 7am. Last night he fed 11.30, 2.30 and 6am. I was wrecked this morning. Luckily Jordan slept in till 8.30 which is the best eversleep in he has had so Jamie didnt have the 2 boys up early.
Liam has done well today feeding 4 hrly again. We are having friends over for tea so will be interesting to see how he settles with a house full of people and 5 kids. Jordan hasnt had a day sleep today so I think he will fall asleep eating tea again so should be an interesting night.
Take care everyone
Wednesday night's big sleep was a once-only performance, it seems... back into the 4-hour sleep pattern from before. Oh well. I'll keep wishing!
Hey Jess, we've been having a similar situation here. Maybe not so much crying or screaming, coz Aadi doesn't really do that much, but he's been unsettled nonetheless. He just doesn't sleep enough during the day, and then he gets unsettled and whingy, falls asleep for 5 minutes at a time and then wakes up crying, and I cave in and give too many comfort feeds, leading to chucking. Very messy. He's a happy chucker anyway, but it's still SO annoying having to mop up even more vomit. Occasionally he will self-settle, but only occasionally... I still put him in the sling, give him my little finger to suck on, and rock him to sleep nearly every day. He just will not go to sleep unless he's in my arms. I would try taking him out in the pram more often if it wasn't so darn cold and miserable here. He does sleep well in the pram.
Sometimes he'll have one 2-hour nap, but most days it's just short cat-naps, never more than 2 hours total. Then, because he's so over-tired, when he wakes for a feed at night he falls asleep on the boob before burping, leading to lower wind at 4am. He's impossible to wake up! He always suffers for it, and so do we. Mind you, this usually happens on the weekend when DP wants a sleep-in... he's pretending he's ok about it, but he's still cranky regardless.
I'm still feeding on demand, and that's usually every 3 hours or so during the day, and maybe every 4 hours at night. It's pretty much a routine, but I still take each day as it comes too. I'm trying to instigate a routine of daytime sleeps, but it will take time.
I think I'd be wanting a go on that trampoline too. Have a bounce for me, will you?? ;)
Mecil - hope everything goes well with the surgeon... that's a bit scary, isn't it?
Abb - would you reccommend seeing a chiro? I know they've helped me in the past, so I'm thinking of taking Aadi to see if there's something that could help with the wind & chucking bizness...
Hi Everyone!
Feels like I've been absent for so long. Been reading through the recent posts and it sounds like we're all a bit in the same boat ATM with regard to sleeping. For the last week Aidan has gone to bed at about 10pm and then woken at 3.30am for a feed and then again at about 6.30am. I'm pretty happy with that. He's been settling quickly after the 3.30 feed and going straight back to sleep so I really can't complain. We had our first visit to the GP on Monday and little man had his immunizations (not much fun). The GP said due to his prematurity and the fact he's still small it will likely be another month or so before he sleeps through - it would be great if he did. Overall Aidan is doing really well - his paediatrician is very happy with him. He's over 5kgs now.
Jess - I'm still demand feeding him. Our paed said that he shouldn't need to be fed any more frequently than 3hrly and I try to keep him to that but today it was about every 2.5hrs. He's been very unsettled today - DH has a cold and I think the little man could be not feeling the best. During the day he doesn't sleep well. We've tried the self settling thing and it really doesn't work at the moment - I think he's too young. When I've let him cry he gets so worked up then I can't settle him to sleep at all - even on me. So after one day of trying I've resorted back to settling him as best I can and hoping he'll sleep through a complete sleep cycle.
deancey - Glad you've had a good day with 4hrly feeds. Hope your dinner goes well tonight. We've been so lucky with that so far. Every time we've been out for dinner or an outing Aidan has been the perfect baby - wish he was like that at home too!
NaNa - We're in exactly the same situation - cat-naps during the day. Its not good. Overtired babies are NOT fun. I did pretty well for a couple of days this week getting in one really good sleep in the afternoon but the last few days its not been happening. Our GP wasn't too concerned about the lack of sleep during the day as long as he sleeps well at night - which he is. I'm going to stick with the demand feeding for a while yet. I've read some of the recommended "routines" out there and it just doesn't sound like us. I'm staying reasonably sane ATM so give it another month and I think I'll try to push for one set sleep time during the day.
I'll try to get online more often. Have a great night and great weekend everyone!
jess: jayda is pretty much in a routine with her bottles. mainly when every i want to eat or get the other kids food she wants her bottles. so she has one at 730am after i have breaky. 10 to 1030 when then kids have morning tea. 1 to 130 when we have lunch 330 with afternoon tea. 6 b4 we have tea and 9 b4 bed. he ngiht time bottles a a bit dif but sometimes she wakes at 230 other times at 430.
i cant get her to sleep in the cot or porta cot during the day. it is either on my chest when the other kids r sleeping or in the swing. i cant even get her to sleep in the pram.
will this cause a prob for me later?
i havnt seen sarah h on for awhile i hope everything is ok.
wat nappies r everyone using. i was going to use cloth but since going back to work so early i havnt had the time. i have found baby love to be the best brand. i dont see y people use huggies they cut into jaydas legs heaps and their sizes seem to be pretty small.
when do babies start to sit up themselves? and start rolling over. she is moving around heaps and kinda gets half way rolled but not right over just enough to scare me into not leaving heron the bed or lounge anymore
Hey Sass- great to hear from you,,, was using baby love but i found their newborn sizes small?? weird... I use baby love for jordan's night nappies (biggest nappies in larger sizes.)
The baby love seem to leak all the time with Tiahna... If she poo's then wee's it runs out the sides... I went shopping with the carrier. Changed her before i left (5 mins drv) put her in the carrier and within 5 mins of shoping i got all wet, the wee had run out down her leg. They always leak with her... Huggies i havent had any issues with except they do seem to cut in- not badly they their chaffing just leave marks which is why i have just changed to snugglers.. Their smalls are bigger then the others. Havent tried them for overnight just yet though... Huggies seems to hold everything in overnight for tiahna though. And she has been sleeping reallywell in her basinette last few nights 10-about 5 last night it was 9.15-5.30 so 7-9 hours we have had over night and in 1 nappy...
Tiahna has rolled a few times but takes her a while. She also manages to scoot down and up. I have been letting her sleep on the curved pillow on the lounge but last night as soon as she woke up she started kicking about and was way down off the pillow and close to the edge of the lounge... Sitting up isnt for a while yet but all babies are different. shouldnt try yet as their back just arent strong enough and you can end up doing damage. Think jordan started sitting up at about 4-5 months??? Maybe my memory isnt so good. I know he was walking round furniture at 8-9 months which i wass told was very early. walking by himself by 10 months. Not such a good thing... Once there on the move thats it...
Principessa- Tiahna has been cat napping during the day also.. I have been trying to get her to have 1 large sleep at lunch and she has been for last few days but most other sleeps are like 10-20 mins.
She's looking around at so many things now the fan catches her eyes and she starts talking to it... lol Also the fish...
Well Tiahna's needles are this friday- she'll be 9 weeks but GP was on holidays and said it'd be fine. I also have my check up... couldnt get mine done at 6 weeks. Not looking forward to that at all...
tried to post last night and this morning but the site was AWOL, so here's my copy and paste:
sassy - we’re using cloth nappies, and I’m finding them so much nicer than sposies. We used Huggies at first, mainly for night time, but now that bubs is too big for the newborn size I’ve stopped using them. They did cut in and seem smallish. I still have a whole heap left. I preferred flannelette flats and a cover. Now I use mostly Bum Genius and Berry Plush pocket and AIO nappies. Super cute! I also still use the flannies for at home, and as chuck cloths. Considering Aadi’s a bit of a happy chucker, I’m doing a fair bit of laundry anyway, and find the nappy washing doesn’t take that much extra time or effort. I think for the moment Aadi’s spewing is more of a laundry problem than a health problem!
Same here with the sleeping during the day. I have managed to get Aadi to sleep in my arms twice today, and after an hour and a half (I watched a whole DVD!) my butt was getting numb so I put him down on the sofa where I was sitting and he’s stayed asleep. Any sooner and he would have woken up. That’s a whole hour and a half of other stuff I needed to do, but Aadi REALLY needs to sleep more (he ususally only naps for 20 mins!). Whether this will cause a problem later, I can’t really say. I hope not. It’s just what works for us now. I’m sure in the next few months things will change and our bubs will settle better and sleep without so much help or having to be held.
Babies usually start to roll from front to back at around 5 months, and will sit up with support at around 6 months.
sorry i have been mia...have been reading but not posting, haven't really felt up to it and it usually is the way that wnen i sit down to post lily wakes up or starts fussing. even as i write this i am doing so with one hand as she settles in the other :)
i can't believe how quickly our little ones grow up and some are rolling already!! wow  lily is strong at holding her head up but not really moving yet. if i put my hand at her feet during tummy time she pushes and moves up the mat, but her arms arent really coordinated yet. she only started to suck her fingers!!!
but ladies.... i am so excited... saturday night lily slept 6.5 hours.... last night she slept through she went down at 9ish and didnt wake till 6am!!!! so excited and proud of our little girl. she hasnt slept much today so heres hoping she does it again
hoping you all have a good night sleep.... and i hope to catch up with personals later...
Al
Hi everyone.
Havent posted for awhile but i also have been reading posts just haven't had time of late. Hamish had his needles on Monday, he screamed for about 5 seconds then went to sleep on my arms. I was really happy with the dr and nurse instead of doing one needle at a time they did them together, dr in one leg and nurse in the other i think it was a wonderful idea. He slept for an hour or so and then was a not very happy little boy all day and night, i gave him panadol a few times but didnt seem to help, he just wanted to be held. We had no sleep Monday night as he woke 4 times. Last night he was alot better, went down at 10 and woke at 3.30 then 8. So much better night. He hasnt slept through the night yet but i am happy if i only have to get up the once and he settles back after feed.
NaNa - i would recommend chiro, they dont manipulate ds just a firm massage and adjustments, i can really tell the difference in his head shape and he has opened his bowels every day since we went and before that it was only every 3 and he was very constipated. We go back again tomorrow, she told me it would be a few weeks before we see the changes but i have noticed little ones every day.
My chiro specializes in children.
I best be off to do some washing and hope today it will dry.
hi ladies
all is well here. Liam is doing well, he is getting so alert and laughs all the time, he is such a happy little boy.
Glad to see everyone is well. sorry this is short am off to sleep as tired this afternoon and i have BOTH boys asleep YEAH
CHat to you all later
I'm here, just don't get a chance to get to this thread & actually post too often
Miss Juliette is just beautiful, still sleeping & feeding wonderfully. It's like she's read all of the baby books & is doing what they say LOL! She's so good I'm almost considering TTC again!!! Maybe not quite yet LOL! I'm taking her to visit SIVF next week to show her off, I figure they should see her seeing as they did most of the hard work to get her started IYKWIM!
We're using the Coles brand nappies & finding them quite ok, I still haven't tried all the others just yet. The scary thing is, being over 6kg puts her into crawler sized nappies!!!
No rolling here just yet, she's just not interested, hardly even holds her head up properly when on her tummy. I don't think she'll be like her brother - crawling at 6 months & walking at 11 months. It'll be strange!
Well we've had a rough day... jordan fell over in the bath today and put his tooth through his lip... Took him to the GP to check it and while we waited i decided to get Tiahna's injections while we were there... She screamed the place down it was aweful
Once they were done the doc checked jordan's lip. Said i should take him to the hossy to see if they'd stitch it or not.
After waiting there for 5 1/2 hours i asked how much longer they said there was still a huge wait in emergency... By then jordan was hungry tired and the lip has started to heal up. I know i probably should have stayed but they said if they needed to stitch they would have to sedate him and that meant another few hours wait after they got around to doing it and no food or drink. I decided to just take him home... the lip isnt swollen anymore and the cut is like stuck back together... I'll take him back in the morning first thing i couldnt believe they made him wait that while time and expected him not to eat or drink and couldnt tell us how much longer. worst part was that stuck a huge pathch thing on there shich ended up sticking...
Oh crap Tiahna is screaming like she's had a nitemare about the needles,,, i'll come back later for PM...
Morning!
Jess how horrible for you, i hope jordans lip is better today. It must have been so frustrating waiting and not knowing how long before you were to be seen, I have been in that situation once before with dd it makes you so mad that we dont have a better hospital system.
Sarah good to hear juliette is doing so well, my dd was a perfect baby also, not saying ds isnt but he is alot more work than dd.
Deancey glad liam is doing well, they make your day when they are so happy i know, hamish makes me get all teary sometimes when he is smiling and goo ing, but i am a big softy.
Al wow on lily sleeping so well. Hamish isnt rolling yet either but i think its a bit early, he also can hold his head very well.
Sassy we use nappies from aldi they are fantastic, i was using huggies but a friend recommended aldi ones, i use there wipes too
principessa76 sounds like aiden is sleeping alot like Hamish, last night i put him down at 9 and he woke at 4am then 7.30am, i am happy with only having to get up the once. I am not concerned that he doesnt sleep through yet.
NaNA i hold hamish to sleep sometimes, if he is overtired he just wont settle himselfand i enjoy the cuddle anyway.
Mecil i hope all goes well with zali's appointment at Paed, Hamish is also all arms and legs atm, they look so cute when they are flapping about.\
We had mchn yesterday and Hamish now weighs 5550 which is 12'3 and 57.5cm long, he put on 450g in the 2 weeks so he is progressing really well. He has a little rash on his face and neck which maybe a reaction to his immuniations on Monday but its nothing to drastic. He is now mainly wearing 00 clothing. I am working the next 3 nights and a few hours saturday, i am not looking forward to leaving him so much but dp will be home with him and my best friend is looking afer him for a few hours friday night as dp works late. She is so excited, i just hope he behaves himself.
OK back for those PM's,
NaNa- sound like you doing great with the MCN's wish i was so enthusiastic.. Things are hectic with DS & i'm not on top of the laundry... Which is why i'm using sposies... Tiahna is sleeping like Aadi also... Been trying to stretch out the sleeps so when she does sleep she's more tired.
I read about the feed, play, sleep routine... It seems to be helping a wee bit... first day she was getting overtired third day she was better, then the 4th day she had needles and wasnt happy at all, wanted to feed all day and cried everytime she woke up (15 mins of sleep) but yesterday she did better... Only thing is i need to work on timing... She has a 2 hour sleep at 11 then another sleep from 3-7pm. i was going to wake her but i cooked dinner ate with both hands(yay) packed the dishwasher and showered. then she fed played and was asleep by 9 and i thought i'd be in for a bad night but she didnt wake again til 5am then went back to sleep and slept til 7.30 and is now asleep once again.
Would have been great except Jordan was up 1/2 the night throwing up... Think he picked up a bug from the emergency room at the hossy... GRRRRRRRR
AliciaK- I know how you feel thats how i post every time, Tiahna like to watch the screen, and likes the rocking of the chair so i often sit at the computer and rock then get bored so i post 1 handed. today is the 1st time i can post with 2 hands she's still sleeping. Also YAy on Lily's Big sleep, hope she keeps it up for you. Tiahna isnt a big day sleeper but i can handle it if she's sleeping through the night
Abb- wish they had of done both needles together for Tiahna... Poor thing was laying there all happy and the lady told me to hold her arms (my usually GP would have made me hold her and brace her as he did them but now get the nurse's to do them) she jabbed the 1st in and Tiahna kicked her leg (she didnt even hold it down properly) then poor sweety screamed like you could not imagine, then she jabbed the second one in as she was kicking and she screamed even worse... I couldnt consol her for about 15 min and i just popped her on the boob in front of everyone... didnt care just wanted to help her... It wsnt discreet but hey my princess needed me... Dont care who saw the booby... Now everytime she sleeps she wakes up screaming the exact same way until she see's me (real tears and everything)
Deancey- yay on liam laughing... Tiahna is more of a talker... Makes little conversations with me.. If i copy her noises she has a HUGE smile and dose it back... its great.
Sarah H- the snugglers small ones are like the huggies crawler except you get as many as newborn there a bit big for Tiahna but the huggies and babylove newborn are getting to small, trying to use them all up before i use my snugglers box... Anyone change nappies to a schedule??? we go through a few nappies... thought i was changing to frequently maybe???some of them are just barely wet.
Tiahna has started sucking on her hands like 100times more then she was... but now she's dribbling everywhere... Wasnt sure if maybe it was like the start of teething... My DS was very late with teething but a friend of mine who had her baby 1st may had 2 teeth at 8 weeks???? (not fully but cut through) She has discovered her hands and watches them go into her mouth and goes cross eyed watching them, Maybe its just that she's so interested in them ATM..??
Well best be off Tiahna is still asleep so i'll try to get few things done, no doubt i'll have a rough day now she's has so much sleep... Have to hang out the sheets and towels from jordan now.. YUK... At least there all washed did that straight away.
Jess - Sorry you had a rough nite with Jordan... hospitals are the #1 place to get sick. Hope your little man is feeling better today, and waits till he's over 18 before deciding to get his lip pierced again!!
Aadi's dribbling bucketloads ATM as well, and is just loving sucking on his fists. Both of them, at the same time if possible! No teeth showing yet, though. He used to just do it when he was hungry or tired, but now it's all the time. I figure dribbling is just another new skill to add to the list! LOL! Now I add bibs to the ever-growing laundry repertoire... which I'm getting frustrated by all the time. Not because I don't have time, just because there's no space in this poky little apartment. The balcony is so windy everything gets blown into the street, and the loungeroom's been a Chinese laundry for months now. Bring on summer!
I'm getting better at the feed-play-sleep routine as well, and I'm only having to hold Aadi for a short time before he falls asleep and I put him down straight away. Most of the time he's staying asleep, and for a little longer now than before. He usually needs a top-up feed just before sleeping though. Most nights he sleeps from 8pm, 4+4+3 hours, with an hour in between each for feed, burp change, burp again (gotta get every last bubble or it ruins us!), then daytime naps I try for 9.30, but usually it's a short nap around 10.30, another one from around 1-2, and another short nap at around 5pm. But then, every day is different and on Monday he just wanted to feed practically all day. Growth spurt maybe? I was getting so tired of feeding him every hour, and actually had very little milk left at one point (what? me?) that I managed to get Aadi to take a bottle of EBM. First one ever!
Haven't had the needles yet. Next week. And I will be asking for them both to be done at the same time!
Sarah - Oooh I'm just a wee bit jealous of you! Uninterrupted sleep... where did you go??
I'm sure it will be great to take Juliette to SIVF. Everyone will be pleased by such a wonderful achievement. You must be so proud of yourself!
Abb - well done on Hamish's growth! Last time Aadi was weighed he was about 5.5kg and 59cm long, and he's probably more now, but he's still in 000 mostly. How are you coping going back to work? I'm looking into chiros in my area, and will try and book one next week. I need an adjustment too...
Alicia - congrats on the big sleeps! Sounds like Lily is progressing really well, considering she was premie. Well and truly caught up, I would say.
deancey - what, 2 days without posting? Are you ok? LOL! Don't tell me you're still sleeping!
