Morning
Well what a time we have had. Where do i start.
Friday morning we packed up the car etc, it was so chockers. We headed off mid morning and as much as i tried to get going straight after i fed hamish it didnt work that way but anyway it worked out ok. We drove for about an hour and half, hamish slept most of the time then we stopped for a toilet stop and i fed him. Back in the car he slept the next 2 hours arrived at dp's grandparents place. We stayed there for the day and he was very well behaved. Dp's pa is very ill so i was suprised when Hamish was on the floor having a kick he decided to join him. Dragging his oxygen tank over and laying on the floor beside him, it was a moment i think dp will always remember. We left there place around dinner time and back in the car for another hour to dp's brother and sil place. They live on a huge property with a beautiful new 2 storey mansion, they have no children as yet just animals. Omg when i entered the house i was shocked and disappointed, all you could smell were cats (yuck). Anyway we went to sit in lounge room but i couldnt put hamish down any where not even on couch, there was cat hair everywhere and house smelt like cat pee. They had two dogs inside, gorgeous, friendly dogs but they had not been around children before so they were very inquisitive with hamish. I think i nearly spent the whole time up stairs in bedroom as it was the only place the animals where not alowed, so i had somewhere to put ds down for a play, but as we never took monitor with us i had to stay with him entire time. That night was not too bad, it was ds first time in a porta cot so i was a little concerned how he would sleep, he woke once at 2 then 6 so it was ok, i only wish i has slept that long, with all the animal hair i had really bad hayfever and could not sleep. It was good for dp to spend sometime with his family but it was disappointing they were not very accomodating with us. We had breakfast with his parents and then lunchtime we headed back towards the city for the night. Omg was the motel room a nightmare, i booked a one bedroom apartment where the bedroom was suppose to seperate from the lound so ds would sleep in the lounge but instead we had a studio which was all one room. Ds was not a happy boy the whole time we where there, he never slept longer than 2 hours at a time, by 6 am i was exhausted and i said can we just go home today, lucky he was thinking the same thing, so we had breakfast with my sister and met friends for lunch before heading home. Hamish was so good travelling in the car but just a nightmare to sleep in porta cot, i even tried him in bed with us but he was so unsettled. When we got home he was a different baby, slept from 8.30 til 6.30 this morning and is back in bed now. I dont think i will be in a hurry to go away again. It was great to see everyone but with being away and not getting any sleep i was becoming grumpy and irritable so i am glad to be home. Dp mentioned this morning he was glad we came home a day early as he started back at work this morning and yesterday we just relaxed around home so he felt like he needed that day at home after travelling. I think i have vented enough now. Sorry it turned into a bit of a whinge. I hope everyone is well, i will get back later hopefully for personal. Hamish has his needles tomorrow yuck. I am looking forward to finding out how much he weighs etc now, as it has been a month since we have been to mchn. Ok best do some washing.
I will try to make this one a quick one, as we are going out soon (to mothers group).
Abb - sorry to hear your break away turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. Some people have no idea when it comes to childen do they. Even if they don't have childen, it's just common sense to have a clean house for babies (or for houseguests for that matter - I know I clean the house big time if I know someone is coming to stay, childen or not). Good luck for your DS's needles todmorrow.
Sassy - Yay on the sleep through. It is a great feeling to wake up when the sun come ups instead of 1 or 2 times during the night. Are you doing a parents group at your house?
Jess - I don't think it would be a major problem with her touching herself. Cameron has also started to do this in the last week, really grabs himself too, i figure if it was hurting he would stop. I guess they are just learning there body, and possibly the more you make a big deal of it, the more likely they are to keep wanting to touch (because they get a reaction when they do it). Cameron is also trying to grab his feet, it's quite funny to watch the positions he gets into. Good luck also for your needles on Friday. And hope all goes well with the earrings. I was watching Friends last night and for some strange reason I thought of you when the sister got Emma's ears pierced without Rachel and Ross knowing. I think little girls look cute with there ears pierced. Also a Yay to you having a few nights of sleep through. How did she go last night?
Cameron had his needle yesterday. He was fine. I was the bigger sook, I was starting to get teary before they even had the needle ready. As DH also had appointment with Dr, and me being a big sook, I ended up going into the next room for when they gabbed him. I heard him scream, but it was nowhere near as big as last time. They then brought him into me, and he just gave me big cuddles and sucked on my shirt. It was soaked by the time we left, DH pointed it out, and I was like "he can do whatever he likes", he was such a good boy. Didn't even shed a tear himself. Thought it might have effected his sleep, but no difference, he still slept from 8.30 til 7 this morning.
Well better go finish getting ready. Have a good day everyone.
Bye for now
(that was close - lucky i copied this post, computer when funny when went to submit)
heyheyhey!
How is everyone? We had a very disrupted weekend, as DP likes to go out and do things as a family, and cram in as much as possible, but it just throws our routine out the window! Yeh, still... It was nice to get so much done around the house and also go out to a festival and do all sorts of things, but by the time DS has missed his second nap for the day, he's just grumpy and impossible to get settled at night. Of course, DP still can't understand why he wont sleep on weekends... argh! Anyway, by Monday everything's back to normal and DS had an extra-long sleep during the day.
Even though he's been sick, DS is so happy. I wish he wouldn't keep smiling at random strangers tho, coz it's like an invitation for weirdos to talk to me, and touch him, and I HATE that! Do any of you have that problem? How do you tell some random loony that yes, he's cute, but I don't know where your hands have been so don't touch him! It was bad enough people wanting to touch my belly when I was pregnant... It's getting to the point where I dont want to take him out in the pram because at least when he's in the sling people are a bit more hesitant about coming that close... (except for a couple of super-screechy feral women at the market the other day, they were getting right up in my face and I was about ready to slap one of them. Luckily Aadi decided to chuck right at that moment! Perfect... ) But he's just getting too heavy now. I've adjusted and re-made my sling, but I can still only carry him in it for an hour or two at a time. I shouldn't have to break my back because people have no manners!
Sass - WTG on the weight loss! That's awesome! How's it going with Jayda having solids now? I've been putting Aadi in the highchair for a while now, just occasionally, but it's been packed up until yesterday. He's decided now he prefers lying down to play, and pushes himself down when I sit him up. Funny how last week he wanted to be sitting up all the time, but not anymore... easier to kick things from lying down, I guess?
Jess - congrats on another restful night! Still jealous... Better to get Tiahna's ears pierced now rather than later. Good luck with it, and the needles too. All in one day - ouch! My mum had my ears pierced when I was 8 weeks!! I guess I had no hair for ages, and so many people thought I was a boy!
Wouldn't worry too much about the *ahem* touching business... wait till later when they do it all the time, in front of company, and just wont stop! My friend's 3-year-old is going thru that now... humping things and stubbornly refusing to stop. Embarassing, no?
Abb - shame about your weekend... what a disaster! Hope you can put it behind you. Any tips on what to take, or what not to take?? Nice to have that moment with DP's grandfather, though. That sounds really lovely!
mecil - nice to see you back here! wow, can't believe you're back at work full-time. How do you do it? Congratulations on the block of land, and best of luck with the building project! It'll be great for you to get out of an apartment. We had a 2-bedroom apartment, and that was too small. The move was a shocker, but it's sooo much more comfortable now in a house. Zali is obviously going great, you lucky thing! Well done!
Hey beckstar- glad I'm not the only one who seems to be starving all the time! I eat more than DP now, it's scary!
Bec7 - I'm glad the needles went well for you and Cam! And the swimming lessons. I walked to our local pool earlier today, and it's empty. I think that's taking water restrictions a bit far... guess it's back to the bath tub for us!
right, off to the clothesline - my new favourite place
arggggggggggggggggggggggggggg i just lost all my post. I thought i copied it but it didnt work... whats going on with BB...
NANA- IKWYM about strangers. i just avoid eye contact and smile politley and keep walking saying thanks. i use the sling but am finding DD is getting too heavey. Now if i use the pram i drape a cot sheet over the top i find if they cant see they cant gush over them. My DS was a big toucher but thought it was a boy thing... Musty be a curiosity thing...
DD has slept last few nights from 8.30-5.30-6am. Having a few 1 hour day naps also... but her awake time she is still VERY sooky and whingy.
Bec- glad cams needles went well. I think girls look adorable with their ears pierced but also it might help people distinguish that she's a girl... (even though she's always in pink)
Abb- Sprry your break away didnt go thaty well... Nothing worse then cat pee smell. Also i wouldnt have been able to stay there... I'm majorly alergic to cats and certain dog heir... I think its yuk having oets inside but thats my opinion.
HAd such a better post but this will have to do i have tonns to do now that DP is off at work
i am trying to decided if i should go back to work on friday or not. At the mo i am working 7 to 430 mon to thurs and it is gettin to me. i would much rather do 830 to 430 everyday.
once the twins leave next yr to go to skool i wont have anyone starting b4 830. yay a sleep in.
DH has just found out he has to have a op on his nose and get braces. so we r gonna be up for alot of money for those.
the sleep through only lasted (lol that doesnt sound right) one night. lastr night she woke up 3 times for a bottle, i guess she was making up for the night b4 lol she was so crabby yesterday basically slept all day.
there is one thing that is really p!ssing me off. Y R THE SLATS IN THE COT SO WIDE APART? jayda would prob sleep through if she wasnt constantly gettin her legs stuck or hitting her head. Does anyone else have this prob?
Nana: omg i so know wat u mean about people touching bubs all the time. or when they get so in their face and make them cry and then go oh they must be in a crabby mood today.
I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BORED the kids r down for a sleep.
Im not sure what is going on here but i have lost a post so i will try again.
Sass - i still wrap hamish so no trouble with cot yet. Bummer on sleeping all night as a once off, we have had 3 weeks of all nights now with the exception of our trip away but i still am aware it can change at any moment. I am going back to work full time in december, but i dont want to, hopeing dp gets a promotion so i wont have to go back until early next year.
Jess - i felt awful as i know how much dp wanted to spend time with his brother but i couldnt stay there any longer, when i got up in the morning and came down stairs i found dp sweeping the floor, trying to tidy up before ds got up. The thing that annoyed me about it was apparently dp's brother was away with work for the week and only arrived home 5 minutes before us so dp's sil was suppose to clean up before we arrived, but when we got there she was in bed 7pm. Go figure...
NaNa - i packed so much i dont know how you will fit everything in to go overseas. we didnt end up using the pram as it was easier with the carrier (for dp) my back is buggered so i cant hold him in it for long.Hamish didnt like the porta cot at all, although it was his first time in it so maybe he wasnt use to it. ikwym with nosey people looking at bubs, we get it all time especially living in a smallish town and dp working at local paper, and hamish being in paper they seem to think they know you so they can interrupt you at anytime for a poke. I would hate to be famous i dont know how they cope, its as if they have never seen a baby before.
Bec - i am the same, the house is extra clean when i know i am having vistors. Glad camerons needles went well, lol at the wet shirt. Hamish is also trying to grab his feet, he like to watch my feet also, weird.
beckstar - i hear you on the eating thing, i would like to lose weight before summer but just eat everything in site atm.
Mecil - glad to hear zali is going well, you will be busy with building its an exciting time but also very frustrating.
Mis tree - i hope things are ok with you and Seth's hip problem is being sorted out. And i hope your ex isnt giving you too much grief.
Deancey - where are you???? hope everything is going well..
Hi to anyone i have missed.
We had needles today and hamish seems to be ok, he didnt even budge for the first one and cried for about 20 seconds when had the second one so not too bad. There was only one nurse there today so had to have the seperately but he coped fine, dp came along so he held him for me as i am a sook. He weighs 6.8kg (14'15) and 61cm in length. He is 7 cm shorter than dd was at his age. He put on 600g in 4 weeks whih doesnt seem like much too me but she said it was fine, he is in 50 percentile for his weight. I have to stop comparing him to dd as she was always in 90 percentile or more and is 5ft 7 already and only 12. My exh was not tall and i am only 5ft 4 so im not sure where she gets it from, my mum jokes and says its from the hormones in chicken as she loves chicken. Hopefully hamish stays settled and has no reaction to needles as dp wants to go out for dinner tonight, dd is away at friends for holidays and returns friday. I think i have blabbed enough for the day so i will be off now....
Sass- Wasnt it a while a go that you said you wanted more time with Jayda??? It must be tough opn you working 4 days. dont know how you are all doing it. I am trying to make the decision to go back to work at all. DP doesnt want me to. I dont want to give it up then few months later regret it. I hate the whole interview thing.
Also about the cot... I brought one of the special breathable bumpers. 1.. so she cant see out, and 2 cos my Ds once got his fat leg stuck while trying to stand up. took us ages to get his leg out.
Abb- thats aweful that your SIL didnt clean and your DP had to do it... Glad the needles went well. YAY on the weight gain... All babies go throu a slow weight gain period. I;m sure things are fine.
