    Hi Jess,

I have been breastfeeding Yasmeenia since birth. No forumula for her just yet. It was just yesterday I bought it. I was talking about water. Are you not meant to feed them water also? She refused the baby forumula yesterday, so I am not going to go there for a while.

Girl... If your BF then no need for water as breast milk comes in 2 types.. fore milk is thinner milk like water for thirst and then after that the milk gets creamier and thicker for hunger... Formula only come in 1 thickness which is why bubs generally go longer between feeds(it fills them up more) which is why formula fed babies need water.

Water wont hurt her but its not a necessity. I was told to offer water during night feeds to discourage waking at night but were not doing that.

What naive thinking. I am so mad at myself. I wondered why she wanted to feed during the night so much. I feel so guilty for not listening to myself in the beginning. I should have followed my motherly instincts and ignoring everything and anything else.
Just ddnt understand this part... Why are you mad at yourself...

Thanks for the reply ladies. I know breastfeed babies can regulate water and milk from the breast. But I thought babies still need water. Because I hadn't given her water and thought it was necessary; I felt guilty. After reading your replies I feel reassured. Having said that, a close friend of mine told me babies need water. Maybe she said that because she thought I was bottle feeding the baby.

Good-luck Mis-tree. It must be tough being single and a baby, along with life's other commitments.

    in love. lots of it.

Aadi slept 9 hours straight last night!! WOOOOHOOO!!! Which means I've had 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep for the first time since forever! He woke up at 4:20 for a feed, and slept again until 6:30, and he's asleep again now. It might not be the sleep-in I'm hoping for, but I DONT CARE! Bebe slept! I'm delirious... of course I couldn't get back to sleep afterwards, but 6 hours!!

Aw, Jess... you know they shouldn't have split up the threads for May. We seem to have lost a few mamas along the way but maybe we can rustle up some more?
Maybe we lost deancey to Hawaii and she's not coming back? Wouldn't blame her...
Hope you come to some arrangement re: your sisters. Even meeting up somewhere neutral away from home. And I hope your DP is ok with it.

Unfortunately, we've decided to postpone our trip to Africa because without DS being protected from Yellow Fever, or me being able to get him to take malaria tablets, it's just a risk we dont want to take. We'll go mid-next year, when Aadi's old enough to have the Yellow Fever vaccine and he's eating food I can hide crushed-up tablets in! DP is a bit devastated as he hasn't seen his family in years, and I haven't met half of them, but it will have to wait. We're going to QLD to stay with my mum instead, which will be a big enough adventure anyway. I haven't been home to QLD for aaaages! Ruddy airlines dont have baggage allowances for infants tho, so I'm going to have to beg/borrow/steal a carseat, pram and toys to keep DS happy for 3 weeks.
Ok, that's my rant for the morning. More than likely I'll be back with some more babbling later tho! Have a good one mamas!

Aadi good boy.. Well done NaNa
Not so good about the trip although if its for the well being of Aadi its for the best. My sis is in Queensland atm and she took pram with her i think they take them on board with them, not entirely sure i will check with her and let you know. Omg the waking up during the night i dont know how you cope, Hamish woke at 1,2 and 5 but thankfully the dummy worked first two times but gave in to a feed at 5 and he fell asleep on me which he never does anymore. Poor little man had a bit of a temp so i gave him panadol at 8 and he is sleeping again now.

Jess maybe if you just briefly mention your sisters every now and the dp will warm to the idea. I hope things go well at work today and they agree on an extention for your maternity leave.. Good Luck

Sass how is jayda going? Any news on the jobs?

Mis T how is Seth today? I hope he is sleeping better for you.

Girl 22 it is normal to feel upset especially when you are not sure about something but you are doing a great job with Yasmeenia, especially with studying etc. I give Hamish a little boiled water after each solid feed but this is a personal choice.

    Bec how is Cameron?
    Deancey How was the holiday?
    LMK How is Liam going?

Mis Tree took to long to type so i missed your post.

That great about the no screaming. Hamish has just started putting his hands out now too its very cute Dp loves it. My friends little one said dad first and he has never seen his dad and she said no one ever said it to him so it was a bit of a mystery really so dont worry to much.

Hamish said mum today for first time yay , he has been saying dad for ages now so its about time.
