me first! poor jovie i wish i had some advice for you christy - maybe a warm water bottle on her tummy might make her a bit more comfortable...thats mt only lame suggestion
TARA we use a sleeping bag made of just polar fleece cotton lined so it's really just a blanket thick she wears a wondersuit, and spencer then a sheet and blanket over that, but where in chilly melbourne the morning have been around zero here!!!!!
Thanks AJP, I think I can get away with a polar fleece one. it's not getting THAT cold on the GC but is still chilly enough to wake her up in the night with popsicle hands! BTW whats a spencer?
Hugs Christy - I hope your baby girl is feeling better soon darlin, its horrible when they are so sick.
Tara - grobags are great! I have a 1.0tog, and dress aston now in a singlet, bodysuit and all-in-one, then the gro bag. and it seems to keep him warm. mind you they are frightfully expensive, and ours was gift from the uk. check out getting one second hand.
I've had a ***** of a weekend, the whole court thing on friday, still isn't resolved. well I thought it had been, but by the time the kids got home today it became apparent that it isnt so the saga continues. I am completely over the whole thing! and wish I could beam myself to another country right at the moment! going to seek legal advice tomorrow... I just wish he would grow up and consider what is in the best interests of the kids....sigh. sorry....

AJP - spencers are for sale in the children's underwear department - you buy baby ones near where the singlets and socks are, i have bought some for tiny bilby in Target and also Best & Less. They have the envelope neck too, which makes change time a whole lot quicker for a bub who hates things over their head (e.g screams the house down at change time!!!). These envelope neckline are Wonderful for reducing that situation with us!
Have tried twice now, mixing one tablespoon of my breastmilk with one tspn of organic rice cereal, tiny bilby is not really going for it, looks at me suspiciously and it just sits on her tongue, only way i can get her to swallow it, is to push the dummy in.
we are still feeding ever two hours and sometimes every four hours at night if i'm lucky
VickyFinch - i am so sorry to hear you are having awful court battles - i assume with an ex?
Hi Gigi - Welcome back. I hope everything has been ok in your world. Yes I'm having court battles with ex - my big kids dad, and its painful, and hurtful, and stressful, but worst it breaks my heart seeing what it does to my kids...but enough said on that...
Aston doesn't like getting dressed either, I have to give him something to distract him. I love the envelope tops too, quick easy to get on. We have had lots of fun with feeding solids, starting, stopping starting again, and have slowed the whole process right down. He has about two spoons of pears, with breast milk, and half a teaspoon of rice cereal, or avocado and breast milk. Aston has had so much tummy pain, that I have just decided to slow it down, and introduce things slowly. consequently, it has meant that he feeds more often, but I got to the place where I was prepared to live with that, if it meant his little tummy wasn't hurting him so much.I found out this evening that his uncle was the same as a baby, so it may be a genetic thing - because I didn't have this kind of thing going on when laura and nathan starting eating food...
God I'm really rambling tonight aren't I? I think I'm using the computer as a distraction tonight... can you tell???
vicky sorry to hear the x is been and ***** pain in the *****!!!! bet you feel like your doing this
solids are going so well, she obviously just wasnt ready, since friday has been on 3 meals aday!!!!! we've gone from 1 tsp to 3 meals, so go figure, she now opens her mouth and leans forward for the spoon if your too slow so apple or pear and ceral for breaky, avocado for lucnh and carrot for tea, will change tea next week when avocado has bee going for a week, then change lunch, staring weetbix in a bout 3 weeks for breakky
That's brilliant AJP. and yes I do feel like hitting my head against a brick wall. It would probably be less painful actually. I'm feeling better today, onwards and upwards. It is what it is, and dwelling on it doesnt make it change. I did the same with Aston, slowed right down, and are going to move on to two meals a day today, and see how we go. He slept heaps better last night. Dh even got up in the night to check on him. lol. have a good day everyone.
What a sh*t of a night. it's like she wakes up all ready for a play after being asleep for a few hours and then wont go to bed for another couple of hours. last night we tried everything and she wouldnt sleep, as a last resort i put her in bed with me - she still wriggled around and i said thats it you can cry in your own cot (i know i now have mother guilts) so i put her in her cot and she went to sleep! ARRGGHH!!!
Evie hates getting dressed too so i sing hokey pokey and make putting her arms in all funny..it works sometimes!
Im sorry you're having such trouble with your ex Vicky, it must be so draining - just try and remember that everything works out in the end how its meant to and maybe if your kids see u being positive about it it might make them feel better (im sure this is all stuff you already know..just trying to help!)
Gigi evie really hates solids too i think i might breastfeed until shes 5 (i know its kinda creepy but saves some heartache) jk
AJP thats great that Sophie's eating!! yay what a star!!
TARA we have sophie mobile over the change table, she can reach the bunnies that hang off it, it is a life saver!!!!!!!!!! brilliant, occupies her 9/10 times without problems, she just waves the bunnies arround, gives the whole thing a real workout!
We have a mobile too and she pulls the little bears off their swings. it's not so much that she screams, she just likes to wiggle away!night time is the worst i think just because she's tired.
i'm so annoyed that i'm getting mad with her over her sleeping..or lack of. i know shes not doing it to p*ss me off but it's like i'm thinking 'you're better than that evie just stop being silly'. i know that sounds so silly but i have just been so mad about it lately
Hi all... sorry to hear some of you have been having some trobles while ive been away!
We had a fairly good time... Chels was a nightmare every night... would scream and keep us up for hours on end.... it was just to much for a lil girl. Im soooo glad to be home so i can get my angel back instead of my lil horror!!!
We had a mixed weekend too! I'm going back to work in a month so i've been trying to get Ella onto a bottle for the last 2 months now. Argggh! she just will not take it. DH tried again on the bottle and i stepped out of the picture entirely. She was so unsettled the whole day and finally went to bed at 1am after a huge BF! Dont know what to do if she doesnt take it.
On the solids front she's doing well. We met up with ILs again and she had shredded beef with noodles and soup. She loved it! And here i am trying to give her mashed carrots. I think she's going "Give me real food".
AJP - Ella loves her weetbix in the morning and i also give her some pear as well. I eat b'fast with her and she's been having a tiny bit of my toast which she chews carefully. We've been doing this for the last 3 days and she likes it more and more! But last month she wouldnt eat much. And even now on some days she just doesnt want to eat (coz she's been a guts the day before). This week were going to try couscous.
Christy - Poor Evie. Lots of cuddles and maybe a break from solids?
Vicky - Sorry to hear you ex is being a *****. Probably why he's an EX. Must be hard on all the whole family.
Ella change table is near a window she loves gazing outside - we're lucky she's easy to get changed and helps by putting her arms through her sleeves Sometimes she does it too quickly misses the arm holes and ends up with the top around her chest.
Gigi - some mums in our group found that the babies didn't like the rice cereal. Ella never took the rice cereal on its own so i laced it with apple. I use to lace everything with apple....she loves it.
