lol!! yeh ill try measure her when she wakes up if she stays still!! she was 68.5cms at the start of this month!
Wow Sophie will be 8 months in a few days where has it gone...seriously!!
no its not a dumb question - croup is when the upper respirtory system becomes inflamed, and babies/kids have difficulty breathing. It is usually caused by a cold, and has the trademark barking cough. It sounds horrible. and it is worse if there is stridor as well, which is a gasping whistling sound made when they are breathing in, between coughs. You can see their chest gets sucked in. Its pretty scary - and most people don't consider it serious, but it is especially when there is stridor involved. Babies/kids will be hospitalised then for treatment. Ironically it usually occurs in the middle of the night, and when the weather changes dramatically, and in the day, they can be as right as rain! Until I had experienced it with Nat, I didn't think croup was that big a deal - I now know differently.
And yep, AJP is right there is baby yogurt- Vaali (i think thats how you spell it) make one, or the other option is "grow" your own. I know several mums who are doing that.
BTW kim, well done on making some baby food. Its pretty hard to stuff it up. i usually just steam a whole lot of a type of food, then puree - mash it up then freeze it in ice cube trays. The cube is about a tablespoon. once they are frozen, I pop them out into ziplock bags, and take out as many as I need for a meal. At the moment Aston is having about 3 cubes per meal.
Thanks for that Vicki, that sounds pretty scary, i hope Aston doesnt get it. ill have to look out for that yogurt! wow Emelias such a piggy she has 6 cubes!
i just measured Emelia (well tried) i got 73cms but i could be wrong! she wouldnt stay still!
Chels looooooved her pumpkin!! We had a lovely mess.. all thru her eyebrows..hair, face and clothes!!! I feel so proud she liked *real* food
I just mashed it up with a Bar stick and then put some in little containers...gunna try potatoes soon, then mix the 2 and see how we go.. then i dunno try somethin else...lol
i'm lucky to get two cubes into sophie!!! prefers boobie ,though she doesnt get it til after food, kim sophie has ahd pumpkin, zuchinni, broccoli, carrot, avocado, silverbeet, apple and pear.cicky havent defosted it yet, but i think it would be fine, will defrost it for tomorrow!!
blanche we cant believe it either, 8 months, only 4 til party time!!!!! thats scary
Ohh! evie just wont eat 'real' food!
Went to bed at about 7:15 last night, woke at 9:30 - put her dummy back in, then 1230 - had half a feed then 230 - had full feed and changed nappy and slept til 6. dh got up for work so i dont know if thats why she woke up...but she was pretty wide awake.
Does that sound about "normal"?
i feel like i keep trying to remember what happens every night that each night blends into the other and i dont remember what she used to do, or what is considered a "good" night. eeek! these babies!!
We went to bed at 1030pm (can tell it was FDC day cant ya?)...slept til 6am then thought it was play time.. so in our bed....went back to sleep at 730... and then woke at 930. Now just gonr back to bed....
Ive had about 2 hours sleep all night... Craig's work has made an offer.. and its been worrying me... was crying most of the night.. i just dunno what it means for us. It sounds secretive i know... but he has said not to say anything til we know wats going on...he isnt loosing his job...its a gain...$80-$100k plus per year with this new deal...but it means alot more to me then just money....ill tell more when we have made a decision.
Aston had a better nights sleep last night - pity the same cant be said for me! I couldn't get back to sleep after I fed him at 1.10am, an hour later I was still awake, so I got up had a herbal tea and read for an hour and half. just as I fell asleep, Aston woke at 4.15. So I'm feel rather tired and cranky today. We could have chatted online Kim if I'd known I wasn't the only one awake in the wee hours of the morn!
Took Aston to the doctor today, just to make sure that his cold isn't moving onto his chest and that his ears ok, and he is fine. He was weighed, and measured and is 8.9kgm and 72.5cm! Just a smidge under Emelia, Blanche.
Going to try Aston on carrots tonight, and try a couple of different things over the next nine days - moving into some meat too.
Hope you are doing ok Kim. I'm guessing that what it would mean for you is DH will not be home much... and money can't buyt that eh.
Yeah I would be absolutely devesated if DH was away more for work. He's had a few business trips since Jovie was born & I was completely lost... it was hard work. He's also had a few late nights & I was lost. So hard.
Jovie had a worse night sleep last night... I don't know, I know she's teething & is having a hard time with it, but I can't STAND it. Last night she was up from 1-3.30am and then again at 5am for the day. DH gave her a bottle at 1am and she just stayed up. Then I got up with her at 5am. URGH... where did my sleeping baby go??
Kim, that sounds great! i would do anything so we could be earning money like that! its so hard at the moment and then my gf just told me theres work at the childcare centre i worked at again so thats an option for me...its just an option i dont want! how bad does that sound.
Ok, need more sleep advice. evie's woke up at 2 so her next nap is "due" around 4/430, and its now 5 and she's still awake altho showing mega tired signs. so what do i do? if she goes to sleep now it's going to be like 9 before bed and i'm in bed by then!
do i just cut my losses and give her a bath and bed now?
i so dont know what to do and i am sooooo over it!!!! i cant do anything anymore to make her sleep. no boob, no rocking ARRRGGGHHH!!
going to try some avocado this evening so we'll see what happens...whatever
Tara Jovie goes to bed at 6-6.30pm most nights. If she's missed her late arvo sleep I give her a feed, a long bath & long massage afterwards & another feed & she's usually in bed at 6pm. I try to draw it out because I like going to sleep when I want
Thanks Christy, it's been an hour now and she wont sleep so im just going to give her a bath for my own sanity. she's been awake for 3 1/2 hours now. she is soooo tired but like i said, nothing i do will help her go to sleep. i dont know what to do for her.
plus i'm stressing over the whole freakin' solids thing. she just wont eat!
i'm going to have a 21year old tired bf'er!
just a thought, maybe i am making evie's food too thick, how thick did u guys make it to start with? at the moment i am just pushing pumpkin/banana/avocado whatever through a sieve and adding the tiniest bit of water.
how thick/thin is it meant to be?
OOO!! forgot to mention...i have a crawler!! she finally did it! and then without thinking, i put her on her mat while i went to the toilet and i came out to find her half way across the tiles...whoops! wont tell daddy about that one!
Taralee - to begin with I made Aston's food quite runny, not much thicker then breast milk, and I also mixed his food with breastmilk as well. Woohoo on the crawling - now life will really get fun. That might be why she hasn't been sleeping too well - too busy figuring out how to get those legs and arms working together. Aston is trying oh so hard to do it, but still only managing to go backwards. then he will go sod it - I can roll there faster! lol.
