Good to see you kept everyone entertained Jols! We will definately have to share a vino or 5 when you are here in Feb! Do you like Champagne?Nothing better then champagne seafood and sun!!! Now Nelly just hold off til after Feb then you can join in too...Tara are you growing any feathers yet? Christy...anymore chickens hatching in your nest?

Birthdays... can't believe it is here already!!! We are having a small gathering of DH brother and partner, aston's godparents, who are our very good friends and their kids (their eldest is 10 on the same day as aston is 1!), my best friend and her hubbie and their daughter who is 2 in 2weeks. We will probably catch up with some mums and bubs at Noosa River the Monday after his birthday and share a cake.

Aston is in a nappy overnight too - and same as Jake - change him when he is feeling wet... the only time he gets nappy rash is teething poos... and that can be within minutes of him doing it!I swear the poos changes when they teeth...like more acidic...and SMELLY!!!

My day started off crappy... but ended well... for some reason I woke cranky and tired (endo is running rife again...wonder if that has anything to do with it??!!!???) and I snapped and snarled at DH. We were supposed to go out this morning to get stuff for the garden. I have wanted to get a herb garden and vege garden going for WEEKS... and there has something been on each weekend...so I was getting it done this weekend!! I jsut wanted to go to the hardware shop and get the stuff come home and get into it... DH wanted to go to the shopping centre to spend birthday money... the difference between doing both is about 2 hours, and getting morning tea, lunch, change of clothes, nappies etc etc etc for the little man, as opposed to taking a drink, a biccie and a nappy! so I was getting rather peeved off... in the end I went with the three kids and left him behind with a torrent of angry words. (god i can be such a b!tch when I want to be!) Instead of heading to Noosa, I went to Gympie, took Nathan to a shop that he has been breaking his neck to go to. He has wanted to buy with money he has saved the beginning set of Warhammer 40000 game figures . for the last month that is all I have heard about from him, (and it was something that he desperately wanted to do with his father). Also got the herbs and other bits and pieces...and came home to have aston sleep for 2.5hours. DH had decided to go to Noosa by himself and get his birthday present (which was a surround sound system thingy for the PS3 so he was a happy bunny) I got over myself, and sat down with Nat to help him with his figurines and had a lovely time with him. As it started to cool down, WE all went out into the garden - aston in his play pen with one of the kids(they took turns) and I got my herbs potted, and the vege garden begun... so the day ended great. Think the universe smiled on me this afternoon... lol

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend...

Herb gardening is so lovely Vicky, being able to nip outside to pick a few bits of basil for your lunch, or oregano for the pasta dish you are about to make, fresh herbs are the best!

Blanchie - hope i didn't offend you about the length of nappy wearing, i think i have seen SO MANY nappy rash threads on parenting forums of late (Help!!! what to do!!! etc), that my antenna to that topic, is a bit finely tuned. Whatever works for you, all power to that.

I have DREAMS of having bilby in a night nappy for 12 hours, but she never sleeps that long! AJP, we got reactions to the JJ commerical wipes too. I actually read a thread last night on this forum, about the ingredients in many of the baby products available in supermarkets, found out what sodium laureth etc is, and boy it is scarey. Made me want to go to bathroom and chuck out the products i had just read about.

Sorry to hear the endo is giving you more grief Vicky.

The 1st birthday shindigs sound good, i was also thinking of a playground afternoon tea type thingo, but her bday is on a Saturday, maybe we'll just hold it one day later (excuse for cake TWO days in a row ha ha, cos i just CAN"T not celebrate on the actual day too). Will seem very strange to have a cake for her when she won't eat cake!

my dh went and pulled up weeds today, our little back yard (mainly dirt that is hard as cement) has been infested with rye grass (which i'm allergic to) in the last six months. I'm usually a mad keen gardener, but have let it go to racknruin since bilbs arrived. Severe water restrictions haven't helped, but normally, i would keep up with the weeds at the very least. (and grow lots of yummy basil!!!).

We need shade so desperately, and i just cannot dig in that concrete hard clay. Took bilby to a mum's group meetup the other day at a playground, where we put the rugs down, it was all dirt and it was a very windy day, normally that area is grassy. we need rain. (normally, our city gets it's rain over winter, or not at all).

Sorry, also meant to say glad Jake's feeling better
Hope baby Kim comes out soon
Also Blanche, at kindy we always recommeded babies/toddlers didnt wear shoes, especially outside, because they use their feet for balance and grip and get a lot of tactile information from the ground. Going shoe-less is also a lot better for the muscle development too, so if she doesnt want to wear shoes, dont worry she might not feel very safe doing so

    Girls!

Went to the Pool on Friday. Just about to dip Ella into the pool when there was a mass evacuation. People were piling out of the pool shouting "there's a poo in the pool"! the young life-guard came out with a long stick with a little net (a special poo scooping tool) and shouted at his mate - "go down the end the poo's split up!"

that's the highlight of my week.

She's been in bed since 6 and i've been in 6 times already! each time i just lay her back down and put her dummy in and she goes back to sleep, but she grabs my hand and holds tighter and tighter
i'm so hoping it's just her teeth nurofen obviously did nothing!

Luua - the Pool Situation is exactly what i'm afeared will happen when bilby goes in the pool!
Looking at MCN swim nappies, interested in the Imse Vimse ones cos they have snaps on one side, not sure about Pull Up types, for when there is a mess to clean up.

Hope Evie's teeth come soon Taralee, so she'll sleep, then you'll sleep too.

Is there ANY situations or times, when you SHOULD have bubs under two, in shoes? Probably sounds a really dumb question, but i have no clue. I am always so conscious for myself, about not going barefoot in public, for safety and hygiene, so that makes me think, how can i protect bilby's feet if she is shoeless (when she starts walking).

Tonight she stood up without holding onto the playpen rails, for 27 seconds, wobbling a bit, but didn't fall over! And she ate entire jar of smooth oats and figs and sultanas for one meal, then had five icecubes worth of pear to boot! So no savoury, but at least, she's eating more. ((End of proud mumma rant))
