oh the joys of renting hey Gigi. Three monthly inspections are sooooo fun! And yes its extremely challenging doing anything with a small person underfoot. Aston got a vacuum for his birthday, which he now uses when I am vacuuming... very cute.
Being in constant pain is horrid - for the person in the pain, and for everyone around them! I know it tests my DH's patience when I'm pain, and debilatated. When its really bad I can't get Aston in and out of the bath, and putting him in the cot is hard too. When I'm like that I spend a lot of the day down on the floor with him, so I don't have to pick him up.

Its raining here AGAIN - and doesn't look like clearing anytime soon. I have to drive the kids down to the bus this morning because water has come across part of the drive... god I'm over the rain. I know we need it and all...but bloody hell can it rain at night???? and be nice in the day!!

I hear ya Vicky, all my nappies are smelly & on the line for days... painful.

It was so nice to meet up & already know eachother. Its just comfortable and no need to worry that someone doesn't understand where we are coming from. I love that. I've been having alot on my mind lately & very preoccupied with so much going on that to be able to get together & hang is noice. And those bubbles were beautiful the little I did have.... nelly, what sort were they?

I was sad I only got to stay for 2 hours... I was still late picking up Matilda got charged a bucket for being 10 minutes late. I called at 3.45 and said she could go home with someone else & contacted another mother & got it all organised because the traffic was horrible. So when I got to my friends house it was pick up time. No one was there, so I drove to montessori & Matilda was having a full on tanty about getting into the car. So the montessori teacher had to wait because she couldn't close the gate with them stuck inside. Ah well... LOL. I tried hard, I left giving myself an extra half hour to get there on time but obviously not enough.

HUGS HUGS & HUGS to you Tara. Scary to hear about the bleeding but glad that the headaches are abating. Rest up honey and insist and being waited on hand and foot. Seriously.

Us? we are battling tantrums, hitting, throwing. She is crawling like a demon and now crawls in her sleep which is VERY annoying. She is just very mobile now and wants to get on the floor everywhere. We almost lost her at the airport.

Daycare? Its like sending her in for torture. She makes a BIG deal out of it although i think its slowly getting better. I dont expect her to be happy with it for a long long time. But at least she's now eating and drinking - oh and she sleeps well too.

I'm just so tired. Going to Melbourne was exhausting and having my mother tell me there was something wrong with ella made it all the more crappy. She said "she doesnt smile much" when ella was teething that day. She said you should make her life happier and let her smile!!!

Christy - lol as a former childcare worker..i would've let the late fee slide We had a dad who'd come in late every single day, and since i lived half an hour away it meant i'd get home at 7 instead of 630, used to **** me right off. one night when he was 40 mins late!!!! i said to him, next time i call the police, they can pick your son up and you can explain it to them. as well as told him that was close to $100 in late fees just for that evening. the most annoying part was he just lived across the road!!!! and would usually bring one of his women in with him *gag*. Glad you had a great time yesterday tho.

Ann - sorry to hear about you daycare troubles. Does Ella have a comfort toy that might help? Is there some special food you can put in for her? What about taking a photo of yourself and DH and laminating it and putting it in her bag and she or the carer can get it out when she's feeling really upset. She will slowly get used to it and hopefully the routine will become a comfort to her. I know its hard, but try not to make a big deal out of it yourself, like we used to say 'goodbye cries never last long'.

Gigi - Good to hear you survived the rent inspection. Maybe you should have hung around with a coffee in your hand so they could see how sleep deprived you are and then they'd be amazed you did any cleaning!!! Hats off to you. I'm glad your DH is slowly on the mend

Vicky - thanks for your support. I'm over this rain too. it has been non-stop today and just gross when we finished swimming lessons. It's starting to feel like we'll never escape it and that we're being boxed in - is that how you're feeling? everything is damp and blech!
Blanche - How's your bump? Have you starting picking out names yet? Evie was rubbing my belly today, does emelia do that too?
Jols- hope you're holidays not all rained out! when do you go home?

Great idea Tara! We'll do that this weekend. She goes into daycare with her dummy, her bear and her special sleeping bag - no problems sleeping but when she's awake she is always in someones arms with the bear and dummy.

It is slooooowly improving. The carers said she did play today for a bit but soon cried. Its a lot better than last week. She cried when she saw me but stopped once we got out of the main play room. Here's hoping it will be better next week.

Tara - how did you get Evie to stop standing up and rolling around in bed? Ella gets into crawling posie and cries....

Tara - yeha Emelia always runs up and rubs my belly and she also likes playing with my belly button *eww* i hate ppl touching my bellybutton but she thinks its fun cos it sticks out! we have chosen Jaxon Leigh Patrick.

Ann - I think the key to happy day care is just distraction. If she's playing with something and then cries then she might like something a bit more familiar from home. i know its not a good idea to take toys to kindy because they go walking, but something cheap could help. She'll definately get better and better, and will start recognising kids each time she goes and they'll become a comfort too. One problem to watch for is high staff turnover, which is a fact of life at kindy, but just watch that she doesnt get too upset should they keep getting new staff, that can be really really disconcerting for kids.
As for the sleeping thingy, I think she kinda just worked it out herself, it took months tho (sorry!!) I think i found the best thing was to go in and quietly say 'lay down, you're ok' (or whatever you say normally) and just gently lay her back down. then during the day when we play we 'practise' laying down. so now when she's in her cot and she stands up i can say lay down and she knows what it means. i dont know if ella's the same but evie's usually half asleep when she stands (tho it was crawling posie) and cries because she's confused. ella might take to sleeping on her tummy and you can just "push" her down onto her tummy and then thats something she can easily do without you.

aston is into my belly button, and I'm not even pregnant!! but I think its more about the whole game"where's your Nose?" Where's Your belly button? where's your hair etc... the only thing is that he like to find my belly button DOWN the front of my shirt, so the top gets pulled down - boobs everywhere lol... if I'm not quick enough!

Blanche - love the name. I know a boy named Jaxon, and he such a cute kid... big blue eyes, and lovely personality.

Hey have any of you heard of Indigo and Crystal kids? Apparently laura and Nathan are indigo kids, and all our babes are Cyrstals...

Christy - we have no rain, so i can't blame that! but we dry our nappies indoors on a clothes horse, with a pedestal fan blowing onto it, works really well.

Bilby (with eyes shut) tries to latch onto my belly button to feed when she's really tired, so funny. I mean, a belly button and a nipple - so similar - NOT!

Crawling IN the cot? interesting! bilby just won't GO in the cot without lots of blood curdling screams.

Ann - what a kick in the pants to have your mum tell you that rubbish about Ella! Hugs to you hon. ANd all the childcare upset you're going thru, gee that sounds tough. I like TaraLee's idea of the laminated pic of you and her dad inside the backpack, for comfort value.

Blanche, i love that name Jaxon, cool. My preggo navel made me cringe too, just seemed so WRONG for it to be inside out for the first time ever!!! and it felt SOOOO sensitive, i hated bumping it on cupboards by accident.

DH brought home Valentine's Day flowers for me tonight, gorgy red and purple blooms in a bouquet. He said he didn't want to settle for little choice on Thursday, when all the florists are short cos V Day is so crazy. I was blown away. (This is the same dh who DIDN"T bring me flowers when i had bilby in awful circumstances and she almost died).

Jols, Nelly & Vicky... I'm sick I hope I didn't spread anything to the little ones. On Monday arvo I had a niggling sore throat which by the evening developed into a sinus thing... today I'm worse, very very yuck. I'm sorry if I spread the love

On another note... just found out mum is having an MRI tomorrow for a brain tumour that was just found last week. Crap. We don't know much yet, so another test tomorrow and then next week another visit with 5 specialists to decide the plan of action. We may have to take a loan out for me to go there with the girls. Then its the issue of travelling by myself with both girls overseas. The positive thing is that I can now that Matilda has her own seat. The other thing, is how much help can I be with 2 girls??

christy that is crappy news big hugs to you - I know how you are probably feeling right now and I went through it in the same city let alone on the other side of the world.... call me if you need to a bt was just one of the cancers mum had so I may be able to give you some support.

oh and don't worry about being sick it was probably Jake who gave it to you

I'm so sorry to hear that Christy, my mum told us about her MRI after she had it done...so I cant even pretend to know how you're feeling. Sending lots and lots of positives your way tho.
Vicky - i havent heard of it either, what is it? Like birthstones?
Gigi- that is so gorgeous of DH - have you read men are from mars? so interesting. i just ask in relation to your comment about no flowers in bad circumstance. these boys! what to do with them!!!!
Blanche - i had a kid at kindy who's name was jackson but preferred to go by Gus...no-one knows why..just something he decided one day. LOL
Nelly - dont even mention lingerie..i cant stand myself in a tracksuit let alone something revealing...oh well, looks like another lights off night tomorrow!

christy - oh boy, you must be sooo worried about your mum! that's scarey! let us know how the test goes, fingers crossed the doctors can catch it in time. you poor love! Wasn't she going to come visit real soon? what a thunderbolt!

taralee - when i was in my early 20's, i went travelling and once spent three months in a 3rd world country and where i stayed, the places i went, there were no mirrors. GUess what, i stopped focussing on how i looked, what my clothes looked like and for the first time in my life - i actually felt ok with my body and started to appreciate it.

but back in westernised countries (and the big cities of 3rd world countries too), everywhere you go, mirrors are there (toilets, department stores, car mirrors, in our homes etc).

it was an interesting experiment, like going camping bush style, to find out who notice and care about other stuff, when you are not surrounded by mirrors constantly.

Gee CHristy, i can't get your mum out of my mind, how are YOU coping hon? GOd i hope the doctors made a mistake and they find thru the MRI that it isn't as bad as a brain tumour. Can tumours be removed? Maybe they can take it out and she'll be ok? Fingers and toes and everything crossed for your mum.
