Hey Hoody - you poor thing! I find the screaming is the hardest thing because you can't help but feel frustrated, angry (at whatever is upsetting them), sad, helpless, etc etc. It is one of the hardest things you have to endure regularly I think. Hopefully it is a one-of that should pass soon. Colic apparently dwindles out at 3-4 months, so if it is wind bothering her, soon she will get used to the feeling, and her little digestive system will strengthen and grow enough so it shouldn't bother her much anymore. I agree with Willow also - we found Infants Friend was better cos I would always forget to give him the Infacol before a feed, and you can give them IF anytime.
Willow - wow about the photo shoot! It would be great to see the photo. As for sleeping, Caden is pretty good nowadays. He pretty much gets up at 6 (no sleep in for us) then has a big feed and is down 1.5 hours later or so. He might have a big sleep or little sleep, just depends. He is pretty much getting his 16 hours per day as recommended, with some really great interactive time together. As soon as he grizzles, he goes down and is out like a light!
As for rolling - Caden wriggles up to the top end of his cot. I have never had the problem where he wriggles down and ends up with his head under the covers. The opposite occurs, he wriggles all the way up and ends up cold with no covers. Thankfully I have him in a sleeping bag so I am not concerned he will freeze, but still, it is annoying that he moves alot. He doesn't roll over, but is a wriggler! I wouldn't worry too much about your bub. I just have a couple of round "bumpers" that I have at the head of his bed to stop him hurting his head on the wood of the cot. This morning he was right up against them, so I am glad they were in there. Just make sure he is safe, and get a sleeping bag if you haven't already, cos then you know he will be ok and not tangled in blankets or anything.
As for talking - Caden pretty much chats when he is ON the boob! He sucks away making little noises. He has done this since the moment he was first put on when he was bornThe Lactation Consultant said "it is the nicest thing he has ever seen, that's why he is talking to it" when he first latched on and started chatting. I guess if your bub is hungry he will get the picture and suck. Maybe if he wants to chat then cover up, sit him upright and have a chat. Then when he indicates he is ready to eat, pop him back on. I suppose sending clear messages that this is dinner time as opposed to play time might eventually lessen this problem. Just another phase that we have do endure huh! In a book I read it said "dont' turn feed times into fight times", as in - dont' fight them if they dont' want to feed. I guess the same is true if they are not interested, or are stuffing around. Just take some time out and try again in 10 minutes.
Well, as for us, Caden now weighs 7 kilograms! He is in the 75% for height and weight, so at least he is not as short as I thought he was (he was 75th for weight and 25th for height at his 6 week check, then grew an inch in a week!).
He is sleeping so much better - in the pram, the car, his cot. It has made such a difference to my life it is unbelievable. I knew it would get better (having been told by so many people) but really, I just kept hoping it would improve after what seemed like months and months of anguish. Seeing my other friends with their smiling babies and having mine screaming in my ear the whole time. Now MINE is the good one that sleeps in his pram for hours at a time. It is so lovely and we have great play times together when he is awake. THIS is what I thought parenting would be like
Anyhoo, I keep pinching myself waiting for it to go to cactus again (teething, etc) but for now it is really nice to enjoy.
Have a great week ladies!
