Rach hun :hug: your doing a fabulous job, Ds1 is finding it hard too and driving me insane..I have never smacked him but did yetserday as he bit me out of the blue and it actually made me cry..I felt so bad i hit him but it was a reaction I think :( Are you feeidn Luke at all or just wiht the bottles? Maybe this is why your not getting as much? Maybe ring the aba they will be able to help. Hows the fluid retention? So glad you got a sleep in i would give anyhting to have ds1 sleep past 5 lol!:hug:

Kass wow thats an expensive shopping trip! Its always the way you buy the thing you loose only for it to turn up the next day! Not sure on silent reflux but my Sil used mariners infant mixture for reflux on my nephew and she swore by it!

Well Ds1 got his foot stuck in a toy this morning! Have no idea how but i had to call Dh home from work to help me get it out! Ds is being really hard to deal wiht and really sooky...poor kid doesnt understand why mummy cant give him full attention!
Am off to the ob tommorrow as i started bleeding quiet heavy and passed a really big clot so am just getting checked out!

boomba : I try to get him t attach once or twice aday he does attach for a few minutes or so but then pulls away... nothing still up till sat I was leaking all the time now I am not leaking at all either who the flip knows, the fluid retention is getting worse my entire legs are tingling like I have pins and needles same with my arms and my belly is swollen as well much like the days following birth :cry: anyway see CHN tomorrow so will ask her and see if she thinks a visit to dr is worth it, we only have locums out here :(

AF Luke :wall: its going to be a long night me thinks he has been fed changed bathed he has poo'd burped farted yet he is still unsettled he is sleeping ATM thank god I just got up from laying down with him for past hr... to find jase has done nothing except eat dinner and feed animals hasn't even put away leftovers, so I best get up wash up do bottles have shower and pray luke sleeps while I do :cry:

Aww Rach hun you poor thing.....definitly se the dr about the retention, as fior the feeding just do what is best for you hun. You dont think he may have thrush? myabe thats why he is fussing? give the ABA helpline a call they will help you!

no he has fussed from birth I have fibrous nipples or something like that makes it hard for him to suck I dont know it was going so well pumping etc, and I kept thinking once I got the new pump everythingn would be easier being a dual electric etc.. as for ABA well I could ring the silly cow out here but everytime I see her I want to run she is a **** :lol: the one in gladstone is great but she was very pushy about attaching etc... as I said am seeing Child health tomorrow so will talk to her but I think with the pain I am in tonight I am going to try to see dr in morning hopefully I can make a appoint for around same time as CHN appoint as I have to walk to both and they are next door to each other so would be more convenient... I know very well a lasec tablet would take the pain right away but I dont think you can take that while BF anyway going to see if jase will give them a good rub while luke is sleeping then try and hit the hay myself

Rach :comfort: hope you got some decent sleep last night and that you are feeling a little better about everything. Maybe you are having trouble with your milk because you are stressed? Not sure how much of an impact stress has but sometimes I worry about my milk when I am stressed and I think worrying about it just makes it worse!

We didn't have a very good night last night. It was a weird one actually, Leila didn't cry all night or anything but she just wouldn't sleep for more than an hour - hour half at a time then needed a feed. So of course I didn't really sleep at all with the feeding, burping, settling, feeding, burping, settling etc!! :rolleyes: She settled ok so it's not like we are back to having her screaming and unsettled all the time thank goodness, but far out it took it out of me! I got so frustrated at one point and started worrying about my milk - if I was producing enough, was it good enough for her, why was she needing to feed to frequently etc. Also she is a strong little girl! She's already moving around the bassinet changing positions! We swaddle her so she moves like a little worm, it's so funny! I'll put her down in one position and before I know it she's changed - so if I put her on her tummy with head to right side, before I know it she's managed to lift her head and move it to left side. And on her back, well she just squirms and wriggles constantly :doh: Let's hope she sleeps better tonight otherwise mummy might lose her mind from sleep deprivation!

Oh I love all of our names - well done girls on choosing such lovely names for your babies :dance:

thanks Fi : child health nurse said not pumpin gmuch over weekend pay have affected supply as for fluid retention as well, hormonal imbalance, only thing I can do is pump as much as I can to get supply back

we had a good night last night, ended up waking him around 10pm for a feed and change he then slept thru till 3am and didn't wake again till 7am :dance: stayed awake most of morning bit grumbly and clingy still we went to CHN visited a friend we walked to CHN but jase managed to come home pick us up so we didn't need to walk home, got home a little while ago, had shower is so hot even with ceiling fans and air cooler it is 35c inside :shakehead: fed luke he is sleeping and jack and I are having lunch

as for piggy Luke holy heck he was 3700grm @ birth 3540 @ discharge 3770grm @ 1 w 4d so today she said we'd like him to be about 4000gr well at 3 w 4d he is :o 4585grm holy heck

Just popping in to say hi.. been busy with a very clingy lil man and constantly sulking/crying/screaming... thank goodness hes better today.

oh fi you poor thing :( Ali's pretty good at night but we do have our occassional bad night (last night for example) and its not that she's crying, she's just awake. Eyes wide open and not even a sign of sleepiness, whereas me im sitting there with my eyes hanging out of my head, nodding off to sleep.

AFM, we had a grumpy day yesterday, but about mid afternoon she had a chuck and calmed down alot, she wasnt screaming, just grizzly. Today she was AWESOME. i took her up to MILs place i expressed some milk, i was abit worried coz i hadnt tried her on a bottle properly yet, but i had so much housework that i just cant get done when im on my own with her, i was only ment to leave her there for an hour but time got away from me, and it ended up being almost 3 hours :doh: but she was so good, she drank the EBM from the bottle with no dramas :dance: and she was a happy lil chappy all day :)
the in laws LOVE having her up there, i dont talk to my mum so its good that she has one set of granparents that adore her like they do, and selfishly it makes my life a million times easier, especially now that i can express milk and leave her with them :)
anyway am off to get some dinner, and do the nightly routine, on that note, im starting to get a routine (its taken me long enough ;) ) which is really good, but then DH will come home and throw it all out :rolleyes: LOL

I have just caught up - i think.

Fi - i have been going through similar unsettled times with Eli and did some reading and found that bubs have a 3 week growth spurt which makes them unsettled and just want to feed constantly. The good news is that it usually only lasts for a day or 2 and will help to increase your milk supply... the bad news is that it is super draining even if it is only a short period of time. They also have growth spurts which can be similar in week 6 and 3 mths and 6 mths....

Stevie - you don't need me to tell you how hard having a bub is on ANY relationship... be it a partner or any other family member. In your case it is just especially hard because you aren't together to support eachother as much... as everyone else has said, hang in there because it will improve as you get settled with bub and get into a bit of a routine etc..... huge hugs in the meantime though!

Rach - i am impressed that you can pump as much as you do! it hurts... maybe i do it wrong or something but i find it quite painful and can only pump for about 15 mins at a time.... good luck increasing your milk supply again though!

Oh - i have visitors that have just turned up so better go and will be back soon!

Boomba I read you other thread and went to reply etc, better to have it done than do nothing :hug: I had one after I had Katy, different circumstances etc, but same reason... I was out of room for mayb 45min and went home 4hrs after I returned to room, so not long really... :comfort:

AFM : well I am tired of my tight sore feet and legs so am seeing local GP this arvie they squeezed me in hopefully he can shed some light on why they keep swelling, the feet aren't as swollen as earlier in the week but the pain in my calves is unbearable :( can't take too much panadol ... also managed to express enough for a 100ml feed for Luke yesterday and so far today have got 65ml in a bottle, read a article about low supply and causes etc, and if pumping a thing called power pumping basically leave pump set up bottle and all, can leave like that for 4-6 hrs depending on temp, I am putting the bottle in fridge and changing flanges but is all set up to go, but anyway it says when you get a chance pump for 5-10min every chance ya get no more often thn every 45min though as no point so going to give it a go.. also Luke attached last night for 5 min and again this morning :) and when he let go his mouth was covered in milk :dance: I would like to be able to just BF but I have giant bb's and its very hard to position him comfortably, we use the football hold ATM...

anyway he is out for the count after being up since 5.50am and jack is having breakie so might jump on pump for a little bit see how we go I got a hand free bustier thing so i can sit at comp and have pump hanging off both bb's :lol: quite a sight

thanks :) well I have been pumping for 7min and got another 15ml from one bb am wondering if because I went for single pumping to double pumping was the problem so am back to single pumping

oh god no its a electric now :) no way would I be doing it with the manual I was using to begin with :lol: mind you it is a great workout bicep wise :lol:

LJ :comfort: sounds like you are having a really tough time! I find it helps to remind myself that although it is difficult it wont be like this forever and there are good days and bad days and not every day is going to be that tough. I know it probably doesn't help much at the time. Can you get some help from DH or your MIL? Even having an hour or 2 on your own can do wonders to help you recharge your batteries and be able to deal with things better. For me I find the little things so wonderful, like getting DH to watch Leila while I have a long relaxing shower, just that short amount of time to myself really helps.

Boomba, sorry to hear about the retained placenta, sounds rather awful. Hopefully everything works out ok for you.

Rach good work on the expressing and attaching!! :clap: I have big boobs too (not enormous but certainly rather hefty!) and I found at first the football hold the only comfortable way to feed and the best way to get attachment. Now that my boobs are not so hard all of the time I find I can feed in other positions but still use the football hold quite a bit. Thankgoodness you have an electric pump ;)

Tammie I think you are absolutely right about the growth spurt. For around 24 hours Leila fed every 1.5hours or so and it was exhausting to say the least. But since then we are back to feeding every 3 hours and she feeds for longer each time now, as though I have more milk to give her so I think she probably was just feeding so frequently as she wanted to increase my supply as she was doing a lot of growing - clever little things aren't they?!

How lovely that lots of you are having showers / baths with your little ones. I was worried it might be too early to have a bath with Leila (not sure why I thought it was too early!) but I might try it tonight.

I just read through all the posts from today - I am so excited that some of you are having showers with your bubs.... i have been whining to my DH that can't wait for Eli to be big enough to take in the shower!

I have a 4yo nephew who used to get in the shower with anyone that would let him from a very young age and i have really been looking forward to taking Eli in the shower... I just couldn't remember how old my nephe, Kaydan, was when he started going in the shower.

Limited personals from me today as i am in a rush atm... but Rach - i too have have quite large boobs too and have found the football hold the only one i can comfortably do. The problem atm is that it is now getting quite warm and i am looking for other positions which are comfortable for both Eli and myself.....

anyway, gtg but i will again wish you all a restful night... Eli is now sleeping through until 4-5am (goes to bed between 8:30-9:00pm) so i hope i can pass on some sleeping vibes to you all!

Hiya ladies, been reading all the posts from when it started, as i wasnt sure if i would be welcome as little Jessica came a day early. But its great to hear every1's problems and gains. I dont have time to write much as im having a lazy day as the m/l has taken dd1 for the day and dd2 is sleeping atm, and i still need a shower and dp is due home any second. but hopefully ill get time later tonight (fingers crossed).

but just a quick tip, i used marcalan for nipple tenderness etc. it worked great with dd1 as she cracked them to bits.

With the chest sleeping, i think its great. i think i have fallen asleep a few times with dd2 by accident and iv woken up with a crooked neck, but boy did i feel better for having a bit of a sleep!! Might have to try the front sleeping during the day as dd1 doesnt tend to sleep well. she likes to wake up after bein put down. Otherwise iv been using the rocker to put her to sleep, but that can be dangerous with a 15 month old around LOL

Anyways better go have a shower b4 dd2 wakes up and dp comes home.

It's very quiet in here. Hoping that means everyone is happy and having a wonderful time with their little bubba's!

My mum arrived yesterday to stay for a week which is so good! She is such an amazing help, I feel so much more relaxed already. Yesterday DH & I went to the shops on our own while my mum looked after Leila, it was so nice! At 4am this morning after being woken every hour or so (no big screaming tantrums or anything but just her stirring and having a little grizzle and needing a little help to resettle) I woke mum up and got her to look after her, I had already expressed in case she needed a feed so I got to sleep uninterrupted until 8am:dance: how good are mums for things like that! And the thing is, mum loved it she was so happy to be of help. I'm starting to regret moving interstate, I could really use more of mums help :doh:

Thought i would come in here with my belly group. hehe even though Evangeline came a wk early. Hope you all don't mind. Anyway can you believe that Evangeline is already 7wks old :D Time flys when your having fun. Been really good so far, i read a few of you are having showers with bubs. We to have showers with her, have done so since she was about 3wks. haha she even falls asleep in the shower, a true little water baby i have. We had our 6wk check up last wk, Evangeline has gained 1kg since birth :dance: so now a big 4kg, and 53cm long. She feeds basically every 2hrs, but only for 10mins, but its apprently working for her. The only issue we really have is her wind :( It gets really bad, wakes her often and she will only suck on the breast to resettle. Thinking i may try the chrio, which i see some of you have been talking about. Though my DH is a little unsure.

Liz - Great big hugs hun. I know what a non-sleeping, crying baby is like. Ethan was exactly same, though now that he is a big 5 yr old, he is a great kid :D

AFM : well I got a ph call at 8am this morning dr wants to see me tomorrow to discuss b/t urine test results in one I hope its nothing in another if is something maybe we can find why my feet are so huge, my belly is also bloated and sore as well :(and my wrists but my right foot is the worst so so sore :(

Luke was so good last night after the night before, he went down around 9.30pm woke at 1.30am, woke at 4.45am and woke at 8am when the ph woke both of us, thankfully didn't wkae jack was so nice... but man having a non day sleeping baby is tiring... he has had 2 x 1.5hr sleep since 8am *sigh*

ETA forgot we weighed luke again yesterday and holy weight gain he is 5.05kgs :shock: he is going to be a porker for sure.. oh and we are now onto full FF feeds no bb milk being made by me but I made it to 1month with expressing better than nothing if results tomorrow show something that can be cleared up easily I may ask for a script of motellum (sp)

Wow - I didn't realise my little man was such a heffalump... He was 4.2kgs at a week and a half old... gained 600g from the week before!
I just wish he slept as well as he eats!!

yeah Luke was 3770 at 1 1/2 weeks up to 4585grm at 3 1/2 w and yesterday 1 month he is 5050grm :lol:

Alissa was only 3.620 @ about 3 1/2 weeks.. i havent weighed her since :redface: i feel terrible when i think that but the dr didnt seem worried, im taking her in on thursday for her 6 week check up, is that when they have their first lot of needles? ill double check, i have it written down here somewhere... lol

Alissa has been a little grizzly yesterday and today, all she seems to be doing is eating, sleeping, grizzling for a little while then the cycle starts again, but i read somewhere they have a 6 week growth spurt so im thinking this is what it is..
DH went back to work early this week, this sounds horrible but im so glad, all he did was whinge at me how i wont DTD with him, up until this past week i still had my stitches, and *TMI* but i am still bleeding (nothing heavy, just the norm pink/brown discharge) and TBH i am not even interested in sex.
My MIL has been so awesome, she took me op shopping today (FIL looked after DD) and brought me 2 pairs of jeans , coz i still dont fit in pre preg clothes :cry: i originally thought the jeans were size 12 and was a little upset about it not realising id put on so much weight, bt turns out they were size 10 (im normally a size 8 or smaller) but it just felt good to buy some nice things that actually fit (been living in trackies which is depressing) and didnt cost me a fotune, i think she spent $5 on the 2 pairs. Bargain :)

Anyway, i best go and bath my grumble bum.. but oh how i love her :)

Stevie - Its pronunced E- van -ge- line. As for the 6wk check up, yep Alissa will get her needles then. I found Evangeline was fine on the day of her needles, but she wwas very upset on day 2 and 3 after them :( She never got a temp from them though.

Shades - Your boy isn't a hellalump, lol, he is growing boy. hehe actually i have a pic of Evangeline and my friends little boy on FB next to each other. They were born 5hrs apart, Evie first, but her little man is a bit bigger. Though in saying that Evangeline has alot more chubba rolls compared to him :doh: but they are sooooo cute.

Question: any of you lady's bubs getting a flat spot?? Bothe Eth and Lilli never got one, but Evangeline is starting to get one. Probly cause i have her strapped to the bed so she can't roll, but not taking any chances this time!! Anyway i find she prefers to look to one side, any hints on what i can do t make her look to the left??

Rach75 that's awesome news about your little porker :lol: I was just looking at Leila this morning and thinking she was starting to pork up too so it will be interesting to see how much she weighs now, last week she was 3.9kg so I might get her weighed again next week just to keep track of it and make sure she's still gaining a good amount of weight. Also you did an awesome job of expressing for a month. I only express occassionally and it is really hard work so well done to you, you've given Luke a fantastic start :clap:

Stevie sometimes DH's really have no idea - as if you are going to feel like DTD so soon after giving birth and when virtually every spare minute of your day is taken up with looking after your baby :rolleyes: It's funny because towards the end of my pregnancy I actually felt like DTD a lot and for whatever reason DH wasn't that interested, I kept saying to him that he should get it while he can as it will be a long time before I feel like it again!!

With the post baby body thing, Stevie you were saying you still don't fit into pre-preg clothes - same here! How is every doing with this? I have no idea how long it should take before I start looking normal again but I'm certainly not looking like I used to and I'm not even going to try and get into my pre-preg clothes, it's trackies for me right now :lol: My belly is slowly shrinking but it still seems a little stretched and flabby in places (all the stretch marks don't help :cry:) and I wonder if it will ever go back to normal... pre-preg I quite liked my body, I was fit, toned and in proportion - now I just feel a little frumpy! Of course it's way too early for me to be worried about it but I am curious as to how long I should expect it to take before things go back to normal.... will they go back to normal??!

Oh and good news here, my SIL is preg with #2!! It's quite an anxious time as their first boy who is now about 14months has down syndrome which for whatever reason was only diagnosed a few months ago. Her risk factor during preg with him was 1:18,000 so they certainly didn't expect this to happen and amazingly no one picked it up until he was almost 12 months old! Seems like quite a mild case but it's hard to tell when they are so young, we just have to wait and see. He is so gorgeous though! The most adorable little boy in the world. Anyway, they have to have all of these extra tests done now to see if this baby is also affected - it's very unlikey as there was no genetic link to DS#1's case but just something they have to go through so the waiting is hard on all of us but :crossfingers: everything is going to be just fine.

you got to remember you have a little girl as well if you look in blue/red book whatever color yours is the scale weight wise is very different also what was she born luke was 3700gr born and its 2 mths for needles Luke is booked in for the 22nd

Hiya ladies,

Rach about the flat spot, the maternal nurse said to rotate where they sleep in the cot as they tend to look towards the light. So every time u put her to sleep alternate the ends that u put her down, that way she will use both sides of her head.

With the post pregnancy body, i found with my 1st preg it took me ages to get back to wat i was. But then i got pregnant 6 months later, so i dont think i really got back to wat i was previously. However with this pregnancy i seemed to have lost more weight. The arse of my pants go to the back of me knees and they r a couple of inches too big round the waist. I have a feeling its cause im running around my 15 month old and pushing the stroller everywhere (as i dont drive).

so the verdict is in sought of kidney liver functions good, potassium levels slightly out of whack so now its off to a cadiologist to rule out a few post partum heart problems

but he has given me fluid tablets for a temprory releif measure till i can get into see a cardioligist...good thing not b/f can't when on fluid tablets all good i know tablets will give me mega releif
