Myles decided he wouild pick Flynn up while i was in the loo and i came out to Flynn on the tiled floor crying..have no idea if he dropped him or placed him down..I feel like such a bad mum :( Poor Myles got a smack cause i was in shock...we dont smack so I felt even worse :(
Wel lovelis kisses and hgs to you all xxx
-
firstly what is with this stoopid way of replying
boomba : boats away I dont think anyone begrudges you being joyous over all the good things the bubbas do :) dont be too hard on yourself we all do things liek that when in shock I hope Flynn is AOK and little Myles understands you didn't mena to smack you just were in shock, I am worried about jack picking luke up he hasn't tried to as yet, but if luke is in swing or on the mat and I need to shower or go to toilet I take jack with me  or make him talk to me the hwole time  anyway

-
Well, all 4 of us have been suffering with a cold in our household - thankgod we are over the worst of it. Horrible to listen to little Jasper snuffling at night.... Lucky for him he was able to sleep through most of it (unlike me ). Then yesterday DH got a small peice of metal stuck in his eye which needed immediate surgery. Thankfully it all went well and his vision was not impaired at all.
Don't feel bad about the smack Boomba. We dont smack DS1 either, but the other day I snapped - he KNOWS we don't like him throwing food on the ground, and usually I take him out of his highchair and put him in his room for 5 when he does it, but this time he held up the food, gave me a cheeky smile and then threw the food over his shoulder. We have a serious ant problem too which makes it SO much worse. I think I was about as shocked as he was after I smacked him.... :o I hope your little Flynn is ok.
Sorry for the lack of personals... never get enough time on here!!
Going to read your BS now LJ....;) I will eventually get around to finishing mine!
-
JB hope you are all feeling better. I got a cold when Leila ws about 2 weeks old thanks to silly MIL staying with us for a week when she was very sick wtih a cold  Then Leila got it and it was awful listening to her being all blocked up and snuffling - I was really worried but thankfully it wasn't too bad. It must have been awful for all of you to have it so I hope everyone is now recovering well
Boomba 5.6kg! Great news
DM :o go and get a pap smear!! They are not that bad at all, I've had heaps and now they don't bother me at all ;) They don't hurt and are just so important to have at least once every 2 years. I look forward to reading that you have finally had one!!
I look forward to reading all of your birth stories soon but at the moment I'm just not ready, sorry I know that must sound ridiculous  I've really struggled to come to terms with my emergency c-section as it was a little scary but mostly I wanted desperately to avoid having one and for some silly reason I now find it difficult to read about births... I'm hoping I can resolve these feelings soon as I would love to know what sort of experiences you all had.
Oh aren't our DH's funny little characters.... mine decided he would help with the night feeds seeing it is the weekend, so I expressed and he did the middle of the night feed for me, usually around 3ish. Well - he hasn't stopped complaining about it has he?! And he has slept pretty much all afternoon from sheer exhaustion apparently  Yet another reason why men don't have babies
Hope everyone is doing well and had a nice weekend
Fi :D
-
Sorry Rach75 meant to wish you well for your cardiogram. Sounds a little scary so I hope it all goes well :crossfingers:
-
Fi - I'm the same about the births... I don't feel traumatised as such about my emergency CS but I still get sad/disappointed when I read birth stories that all go so beautifully... it's put a spanner in the works regarding my doula work I tell ya!
-
Rach hope everything goes well hun  Wish I was closer I would have elped you out with the kids.
Jellybean sounds like your all in the wars hope your all better soon! thanks heaps for the reaasurance about the smack I still feel terrible :(But he hasnt picked him up again thank goodeness!
Fi oh hun I was the same last birth...my was not what i wanted and i didnt even write a birth story..this time went better so I didwrite one...dont feel bad about what happened you did an amazing job  ..oh and DHs...well mine is a shocker...he is a shift workir so leaves at midnioght most nights but sleeps solidly for 6 hours or so before hand and he whines he is tired after i ahve been up wiht both kids pffft men hahah!
:hello: To anyone I have missed...been busy here being a milking machine lol...I had to express saturday night cause F wouldnt wake and i managed to get 22omls out of one boob :o so its in the fridge for M to have as I dont have any teats small enough for F.
Had the santa photos done too...F screamed the whoel time M was good so at least he is smiling :)
Anyway hope your all well xxx
-
Fi - what is it with men, grrr. Don't worry mine is the same. Oh keep forgeting to ask, where in the hunter are you?? We should meet up one day with our 2 girls
Jelly bean - Hope you all get well asap!!! Sounds like your family is in the wars hun.
Rach - Good luck for the 22nd hun.
AFM- well miss Evangeline has been sleeping way to much of a night and giving me a heart attack, grrrr. I put her down around 7.30 - 8pm and she's been sleeping till 4am :( the first night she did it, i slept till then to. but i then shook her when i realised the time.
We also had our mummys group xmas party today. It was a great day, love spending time with my beautiful friends :D
Question - whats everyone getting their bubs for christmas???
-
Aww Rach thats great she is sleeping so much but it is kinda scary...I continually check Flynn when he sleep long periods  I will probably get Flynn something small like a lovely teddy and some books and maybe some of his own clothes so he doesnt have to wear hand me downs all the time :)
-
hi ladies,
i know i idnt check in for my vent, after i cooled down i realised how silly i was being, so im glad i didnt do a big write up about it you girls would have tought i was shocking LOL>
Fi: im so sorry your birth didnt go as planned, but you did do an amazing job you brought a gorgeous healthy baby into the world and that is the main thing, Boomba i am like you i didnt have a birth plan, purely coz i was lazy and thought i had more time, the MW kept asking me a bunch of qustions and i kept telling her i didnt know as i hadnt written one up it was far to hard to labour and think at the same time.
Boomba: how exciting about the santa photos, i so wana get A some santa photos but DH isnt keen, might just do it with MIL while he's away ;)
Rach2281: i bet it has scared the crap out of you everytime She has slept through, i hope this doesnt come across wrong but everytime i think of Sids or when i get a fright with A when she sleeps for too long, i always think of you and what you went through with Lilli, you are an amazing person, to go through what you have been through and still be so strong, my hat goes off to you sweetness.
AFM: like all you ladies DH has been driving me mad, it just feels like he's not being very helpful, we have a few issues, and later on when i have more time i will go into it a little further (not too far coz i dont want to bore you ladies to death LOL) A is doing amazing, she truelly is what i live for, she blows me away everyday how gorgeous she is and i still cant believe we created such an amazing little cherub. she has her 2 month needles this week, im nto looking forward to it at all :(
I got my hair cut on friday made me feel a million times better :) im getting my eyes tested again so i will be wearing my glasses again next week, i didnt wear them the whole time i was pregnant coz my eyes changes the dr said not to get new glasses til after i had her coz they would change again lol.
i cant really remember who lives close to me, any of you ladies live near the sunny coast, im going mad DH doesnt want me to join a mums group which im a little upset about, i really would love to meet some new mums with bubs around A's age.
anyway off to bath my darling.
have a good night
xxx
-
Stevie hun I am in brisbane and if you wanted to meet up one day I dont mind driving up to visit! Hair cuts always make you feel better :) Dont worry about your DH it will get better...well I hope it does mine can still get cranky sooky and drive me insane...lucky i ahve the boys to keep in check :) Wehn Ds1 hadhis first christmas DH and I were in the photo too ...its awful of me and i hate looking at it but its special too...get one of A you will regret not getting it! x

Hey ladies!
Well I got to my breaking point the other night.Lucy was up 14hrs crying with 3min naps. She was in complete pain. Im not one for medicine so tried some Braun(sp) wind relief stuff, didn't make any difference. So in the morning I rang my back doctor as I had a convo with him about how he helps babies etc etc...... Ill never look back! My baby is smiling flat out and SLEEPING!!!! She she'll co sleep after waking during the night but thats just what my babies do ;)
Pap smear.....not done...yet! Ill call the womens clinic tomorrow and have a chat about my fears. They'll put me at ease hopefully!
boomba- Thanks :) Its very hard as he was/ is my best friend. We're truly close. Even now trough death we have a stronge conection:)
OMG Im so scared of Annabelle picking up Lucy. She has tried many times infront of me, scares me to think behind my back! Well done little man on the weight gain! We dont smack but when it comes to hurting themselves or eachother I dont have another reaction yet either. Dont feel bad, though I agree I always do after:rolleyes:
Rach75- My god keep us updated! Good luck!
fi1980- Men are shocking! They do one thing that we do on a regular basis and they are GOD for a week afterwards  Hope you can move past your c/s I dont think you're they only one feeling like that ;)
rach2281- Mabye Eva's joints are way out of wack like Lucy's were??? Im not all for getting babies chiroed but I cant lie. It worked! They dont crack them. My Doc just worked with Lucy's preasure points. For xmas NO IDEA!
Stevie W- Join a playgroup! It saved my life when I 1st had Annabelle! Y doesn;t he want you to join a mothers group?
-
Hi everyone!!
Some of you I already know from our Belly Buddies group but then my DS decided to make his grand entrance 2 months early so things went just a bit cuckoo after that!
Anyone - because with a prem you're always working with 2 ages (see my ticker) as far as gauging developmental progress, etc, I figure I'm going to stalk both this group and the September 1 one so between the both of them I'll hopefully be able to sort things out!
I'm a bit slack lately at posting long replies - not because I don't want to but because I'm dealing with a few major personal things at the moment, DS is seriously windy every 2nd day and I've been fighting a pretty bad cold for the past week, but I'll do my best to keep up with everyone so please bear with me for a bit.
Will be back in a bit later tonight to catch up on this one from the beginning, but hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday night -
S xo
-

DM Thats great she is sleeping better what did he tell you to do? Hope the aldies can ease your fear about a pap smear they really are not that scary, but I can understand the fear...I have been liucky the last 2 i had was when i was pregnant so my ob did them...I am not so keen on a man doing it ...stupid i know.

Hi to everyone!
I have been MIA for about 2 weeks and it has taken me the past 3 days to catch up on all the posts! I wish i could manage all the personals but too much has happened.... although as i was reading the posts i kept relating to things that we are all going through.
I'll just do an 'all about me' post today and try to stay on top of it from now on!
I had bubby weighed at 4 weeks and he was a little elephant at 4.9kg.. but i am just glad he growing and feeding well so don't mind this too much. I read that all of our bubs are gaining weight really well which is great news and testament to how well we are all doing as mum's (be it for the first time or not!)
Eli is still sleeping through most nights - he goes to bed approx 8pm and wakes at 4-5am.... i know there was some discussion in the past few days about that being a concern but i love the sleep. Not only does it mean i get a decent night sleep but is means that at the end of each day there is a little time for DH and me... it's just nice to have that time to remember that before there was Eli there was us first.
Although the down side to having a baby that sleeps well at night seems to be that he doesn't nap much during the day! He generally has only 1 decent sleep each day (about 2-3 hrs) but other than that he only has small cat naps... this wears me out!
Eli and I both have our 6 week check up next week.... i didn't realise that i would have to have another pap smear... i had one early in the pg also so had just thought i was good for another 2 years.
I have a couple of questions that i am hoping you ladies can help me with.....
1. When i express milk i don't seem to get hug amounts, yet i can feel it is there. At most i have been able to get 150ml but this is early in mornig after first feed when i feel fullest when i express later in the day i get very little (30-50ml).... any suggestions on increasing this? I am currently using the Tommee Tippee freedom manual pump but am wondering whether perhaps this one is not great and not giving me enough suction....?
2. How are you all coping with feeding/settling in hot weather? I had a few days where i was in tears because i couldn't get Eli to eat properly and realised it was because with the BF he was so close to me and it is hot! I am now feeding him while lying down on my bed so that he is not too close against me but just wondering if anyone has other ideas on keeping bubs cool while feeding (we have a/c in our bedroom but not ducted through rest of house)?
Aargh, my full time job was much easier than looking after a baby..... but i wouldn't trade this time for anything!
-
Hey Tammie! I lie wiht Flynn most days if its hot and we dont have the aircon on and jsut a fan on us. You shouldnt have to get another pap smear if you ahd one while pregnant! I wont be getting another till 2 years time :) Not sure on the expressing I dont express..although I had to the other night F hadnt woken up and had only fed from ones side the feed before and i was in agony...I managed 210mls! Ds1 is drinking it :) So glad Eli sleeps well for you! Makes the world of difference hey! So glad your back  xx
-
hi ladies,
WB tammie :) i have no idea about the expressing thing, i only express at night after ive feed her and im lucky to get 100ml from my right side and about 5ml (if that) from my left and i didnt even feed her on that side.
with the settling in hot weather, we have air con so its nt so bad. but i was up at MILs place a week ago and it was about 37degrees my poor Ali Baby she was soo hot and sticky, she was very unsettled and only slept after we put her in a cool bath then in just a nappy we aimed a fan at her and put her in her bouncer she slept for a little while. i've never tried feeding lying down, ill have to give it a go one day soonw hile im still bfing, ive managed to finally actually really convince dh to let me ff, so ill be off to get some more bottle today so i can start weening her onto it, im thinking of still doing a morning and night bf but im nto sure, what do you ladies think?
Kass, dh doesnt want me to join a mother grp coz he thinks they are stupid. coz he's a tiny bit controlling
anyway must be off, take car eladies
xxx
-
I am so glad to be back - thanks Boomba and Stevie!
This hot weather is not great for bubs, but i am managing....
Stevie - with the bf or ff.... i do 100% bf atm but have heard that a ff before bed can help bubs sleep better (it is meant to sit heavier in their tummy or something so can help to make them sleep longer).... maybe worth a try both ways just to see what works better for you and A.
Boomba - you must have stacks of milk to be so sore after missing a feed.... i am sore in the mornings after no feeds during the night but other than that if i miss a feed during the day i just feel fuller but no pain....
Have a great day to all!
-
Hi everyone, it's been busy in here! Good to see some of our old bellybuddies back here :)
Thanks to those of you who made me feel better about my birth issues.... it seems so silly as ultimately the main thing is that I have a beautiful healthy bub so how she entered the world should be irrelevant. There are so many women who are not so lucky and I know I am truly blessed so why can't I shake these feelings? Grrrr, anyway I think there is a more appropriate place to post these issues.
Rach2281 I keep forgetting that we are in the same area! I would love to meet up with you and little Evangeline. I'll PM you my details
Tammie, the hot weather is awful! Thankfully we have air con but it still gets disgustingly hot and hard to keep the little one cool. Feeding is really hard as they get so hot when you feed them. Often I wipe her head with a damp wash cloth during feeds and I find this helps a lot.
As for the expressing I'm about the same as you and funnily enough I have the same pump! I sometimes wonder if it is not the best pump in the world and although I find it satisfactory it's certainly not great as often i know there is more milk in there and I just cant get it out. I find massaging my bb's while expressing can help to release more milk. As for qty I get about the same as you and morning is definitely the best time for me as it flows much better, also one side is much better than the other!
Stevie hun, I don't want to sound rude or out of place but your DH does sound rather controlling and I really don't think it is good for you. You have every right to join a mothers group if you so wish, you also have every right to ff your baby if you think it is the best thing to do, especially with all the bf trauma you have been through. I think it's important that your DH understands that you are doing things / making decisions in the best interest of your baby. As for the bf morning & night I would definitely give it a go if you feel comfortable doing it as it might help to slowly reduce your supply rather than just quitting cold turkey.
I have an app with the local health nurse today so I will get to see how much weight my litle girl has put on. I'm a little nervous actually, really hoping she is doing well. We have had a few problems lately with feeding/wind/settling. Leila used to get wind occassionally at night but it never seemed to cause too much drama as eventaully she would burp or spew and she would settle. Lately she's been a fussy feeder, sometimes screams while feeding even though she is hungry and she isn't pooing as regularly - but when she does :o But, it often causes her discomfort and she'll cry before she poos. I'm thinking about taking her to the chiro as I've heard this is really good for colic / digestive problems. Does anyone think this might help?
I'll post later to let you know how much progress little miss Leila has made - hoping I can say she's a big fatso
-
Ok just got back from the health nurse feeling on top on the world! My little girl is doing just beautifully  She's now 56cm and 4.5kg which the nurse said was fantastic progress, plus she's meeting all of her milestones and more - the nurse said most babies don't do a lot of the things she's doing now for another couple of weeks  I'm so proud of my little girl, I'm just so happy right now!
-
Fi - Thats a great gain, i can understand why you are so happy. heheh, yes send me a PM. It will be great to meet face to face :D
Stevie - awww hun i must say i do agree with Fi. I meet my mothers group all from here actually, and if it wasn't for there love and support, im not sure how i would have delt after losing Lilli. There are both pro's and cons for joining one, but in my experience its all been good. And no it didn't come across the wrong way, and thank you .
Tammie - For expressing, i was told always best to do it in the morning, as this is when your supply is the higgest. I do it after a nice warm shower, as this seems to help my let down happen more efficent. As for increasing supply, have you tried the lactation cookie recipe??
A big :hello: to everyone else.
AFM well Evangeline is a big 9wks old today. Wow thats gone fast. We had her weighed today aswell, 4.45kg, 54cm. So she's put on almost 1.5kg since birth, which means around 160gms a wk she is averaging. The HN said she is putting on the reccomended weight
Also i put 2 vids up on FB yesterday of her, hehehe, you girls have to look, she is a charcter aready lol.
-
hello ladies :)
fi and rach2281: i know DH is very controlling and i know it has to stop :( im going to apply myself more to fix this, as i said we have a few issues that need to be sorted, and i love that man so i will go to whatever length i need to to make him see he cant treat me the way he does, and if i cant make him see .. well then i dont want to say what will happen, i wont be bringing my baby up in that kind of environment, i know its "our" baby but if he loved me and Alissa enough he will change.
Thanks for the support tho guys, i know you all mean well :)
and dont worry rach, MIL is taking e to a mothers group when it begins again next year, she thinks its really important that i get out there and meet mums that are in the same boat as me, plus to get me out of the house.
well wish me luck guys, i am officially weening Ali onto formula (for the most part) i am going to try and keep a morning and night feed but ill see how i go. i know the engorgment isnt going to be mush fun :( so im not looking forward to that :(
but i have to go and feed the lizards, DH went and brought 2 new baby ones which means i have to go back to chopping up meat instead of just chucking a rat in there like the others do now :( bloody men....
xxx
-
Stevie - im here wishing you the best of luck. i hope my previous post didn't sound rude  my DH use to be a bit of a control freak, but actually it was him talikng to his mates that changed that :) anyway im here if you ever need someone just to chat to
-
Rach: you didnt sound rude at all. Its nice to know you guys care enough to be honest with me.. even though i already knew what you guys were saying. lol.
Well im off at 10 to get Ali's 2 month needles done :( imnot looking forward to it :( a couple of friends of mine have said its a good idea to give her some panadol about half hour before she gets her needles, so this is what im going to do, it cant hurt can it?
Im also going to be getting her weighed, 2 weeks ago (which made her 6 weeks) she was 4.2kg and 56cm long. Ill update you guys when i get home.
anyway i'll bbl :)
xxx
-
just thought id update you ladies on how we went at the doctors today, my poor darling screamed her head off, i had to get MIL to hold her while she got them done while stoo by watching and bawling my eyes out (silly i know), the nurse kept telling me "she's ok, she needs this" and i kept saying " i know i just cant stand seeing her in pain" the she told me "she'll need you for all the hard times like these in her lives and you need to be there for her so harden up!" :(
i felt aweful and i still do that i couldnt hold my baby while she got her needles next time i will, and i wont cry :(
anyway on an upside, she now weighs 4.410 and is 57.5cm long, i think i have a long baby LOL.
anyway off to do some house work.

Great news on the weight gain Rach2281 & Stevie
Stevie  I think I am going to be exactly the same when Leila get's her needles which is next Tuesday, they want to do them at 6 weeks instead of 8 - maybe because it's xmas? Don't be too hard on yourself and don't listen to that silly nurse!! From what I have heard most mothers cry when their baby get their first needles so it sounds like you reacted in a very normal manner. Well done!
:hello: to everyone else
-
Aww stevie its sooo tough hey! When DS1 got his first needles i wanted to feed him as they did it and the nurse said no...broke my heart..everytime after that i fed him as he was getting it...instant comfort. Could you give her a bottle next time maybe?
Fi I would wait till after xmas beofre getting them done personally...but its up to you  Its a hard desicion all this needle and vax stuff..Ds1 had all of his, but its still a hard choice.
Rach hope Jacks op went well.
Well my boof head is 6.2kgs! :o I am so shocked at how big he is! I think all the Mchn thought he was older than 5 weeks!
anyway mwah and  to everyone xxx
-
We've got our 2month needles on the 16th, so I'm REALLY not looking forward to him getting the needles, but am looking forward to see how he's progressing
:hello: to you all
-
Stevie W- The controlling issue needs to be stopped. Not fair on you or Miss A:( Mabye all he needs is a firm talking to. He may not even realise he's doing it ;) Needles SUCK! Better then the alternative I guess ;) Weight gain, great! Next time demand to feed even a bottle, there's nothing wronge with that.
boomba- My god girl your Ds1 looks like you!!! Fb ;) Great weight gain too! My mchn let me feed Annabelle with her needles...
LizJessie- Ours are the smae day :(
Well ladies not much to report other then the sleeping is MUCH better since seeing that man.
Hi rach2281,fi1980,Tammie and Rach75. Hope I didn't miss anyone!
-
Hi all,
This will just be quick post from me as my computer is dead ATM so am typing this on my ph... Much slower process!
I don't have 2 mth needles booked yet, but have E's 6 week check on Monday... Do they do the needles then as well?
Stevie, great to hear you are going to Try to sort things out with DH... It was the other way around in my r'ship. For a long time I was the control freak and it took me a while to learn to let go and relax... If he wants to change how he is he can over time, and you and A are certainly good incentive to!
Boomba - wow, great weight gain! My bub is 6 weeks and prob now just in 5kg territory so still quite big gains also - it's so nice that all the bubs are doing well.
Sorry to not do more personals but this is really slow on my ph... Hopefully DH works out the computer issue over the weekend!
Take care, Tam.
