rach2281-Welcome! Good to see you here:)
I was expressing and giving FF as well as Luke has attachment issues, anyway my milk seems to have dried up end of last week can't even hand express even a drop so had I still been expressing I would have had to decide between b/f or the tablets so thats why in one way its good milk has gone
Just popping in quickly, DS has his CHN checkup tomorrow, so hoping that all goes well
Hi everyone! Thought I'd pop in and introduce myself (I've been sticky-beaking around the thread, but haven't had a chance to post).
Ava Juliet was born 19.10.09 via planned C-Section, 2 weeks early (hence me not knowing anyone in this thread -- all my Belly Buddies are in the Nov 1-15 thread). Everything has gone really well so far. Ava came into the world looking around the room, and was so peaceful. She cried for a minute when she first arrived, but after that, didn't cry till we were in our room and she was ready for a feed. The rest of the time she was looking at me and DH, and at her new environment. I kept saying to DH "She's so calm", and the hospital staff couldn't believe how alert and curious and relaxed she was. Thankfully, she has kept this pleasent part of her personality  Ava is our first child, and so far it's been fabulous, and we can't imagine life before her.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you girls!
welcome to the group Bub4me :)
Its coz we have little Libra babies that they are so calm :)
Alissa is the same, she's so peaceful and curious :)
ill BBl for more personals

Hiya! I'm so excited - SIL has taken DS1 to the zoo with his cousin for the day, so I have the day alone to enjoy Jasper, catch up on housework and hopefully grab some zzzz's.
My little man is sound asleep on my chest in his sleepy wrap at the moment so I am taking the opportunity to read through your posts as I've been MIA for a while....
Rach75 - I wanted to recommend detox footpatches to you for your fluid retention earlier, but as you were breastfeeding then I couldn't. Now that you have ceased bfding, I reccommend you give them a try. I used to recommend them to alot of my ladies when I worked as a weight loss consultant and they received rave reviews! (Not that I'm saying you need to lose weight! They just happen to be brilliant for fluid retention). You can purchase them from health food stores or online. Footsies is a good brand.
This of course does not address the cause of the problem, but it may help with the severity of the symptoms. You put them on the bottom of your feet before bed, and keep them on overnight. It can be quite disgusting all the gunk that comes out at first!! Your GP will most likely roll his eyes if you mention something like this to him - but I promise you - they really work!! ;)
Fi - Speaking of post baby bodies, with DS1 I was back into my jeans 6 weeks after the birth - this time not so lucky. I have 5kg which appears to just be sitting on my butt and thighs, and does not appear to be budging with the breastfeeding alone . So until it shifts, its tracky pants here for me also. Seems I'll have to order my double pram soon and go charging along the coast
LJ - Hope your app with the CHN goes well today. How has your little man been? Any more settled? Gosh, I remember I had such a tough ride for the first 12 weeks with DS1 - In those days I honestly thought I would never have another child! Really makes you appreciate it when you get a calm, colic-free baby...;)
Welcome Bub4me!!
Hi to all I've missed.

Guys here is a poem I came across on the forums some time ago - I kept it because it moved me so much :crying:. It may help some of you get through when you are feeling like your eyes are about to pop out of your head :o Its written for a baby boy but the words will still apply to any mumma and bubba. Hope you like it....:)
Poem - 3am
It's 3 am they're all asleep,
And no one's here to see
as we rock slowly back and forth
My Baby Boy and me
His little head is feather light
tucked up against my chin
I hold his tiny hand in mine
and stroke his baby skin
The house about us creaks and groans
the clock hands creep around
He snuggles closer to me still
and makes his baby sounds
I love these quiet hours so much
and cherish every one
store memories up inside my heart
for lonely nights to come
All too soon he'll be grown up
his need for Mummy gone
but until then I still have time
for kisses and for song
Time for quiet hours like this
with him cuddled in my arms
where I wish he'd always stay
protected, safe and warm
And yet I know the day will come
when this tiny little hand
will be much bigger than my own
he'll grow to be a man
But until then he's mine to love
with no one here to see
as we rock slowly back and forth
my Baby Boy and me.
OMG - What an emotional poem. Thank you so much for posting. I have tears in my eyes! Gotta run and watch my bubba sleeping peacefully now....
firstly  jellybean I am going to print that one off
and thanks will look into those foot patch things
but hey guess what happened last night my damn bb's started leaking lime crazy leaked and leaked while I was feeding Luke so after he was settled pumped for less than 5min got over 50ml grr...why now... anyway pumped for a little bit this morning got the same man its hard to pump and dump but wil not offer EBM while on fluid tablets
Jelly bean - oh i love that poem, its beautiful!!!!
Bub4Me - Welcome. Yep have to agree with Stevie, i think our little librians are the most calmest babies on here :D
AFM - Today im sitting here doing scrapbooking pages for Lilli's special book. Was meant to have it all finshed by last wkend (it was 1st yr anniversary :( ) but time has slipped through my hands. Anyway just hought i would pop in and see how you girls are doing today.
Hi all
JellyBean - I'm alright now, handling it so much better! DS smiled at me for the first time today (well, it was a first smile EVER!) and I absoultely melted :) Cant wait for DH to see it! :)
CHN appt went very well, he's now 55cm long, HC 39cm and he's.. wait for it.. 4.27kgs!!! I'm so proud of the lil man :loveshower:
She also said to me in regards to breastfeeding that if because I've had to stop BFing for so long, that its uncomfortable, to just express and try to BF once every 2 days, then keep him going on formula, that everything should be ok. I'm using s26 and she said if its not causing him problems and hes happy with it, not to change.
BBL, got a DS that I'm feeding on my lap (who keeps farting on me too :p) and need both hands for
rach2281- Everytime I read something on here or fb I just think you're an amazing woman and mother :)
JellyBean- Beautiful poem :0 Sometimes its hard to remember that they will soon be so big :(
Bub4me- Welcome! ANOTHER beautiful name for our group :)
Rach75- Maybe your milk will stick around till after you finish tablets?
Glad you guys like the poem! :D It really is a tear jerker....
Glad to hear you are doing better LJ - and well done on the weight gain.
DH and I are off to see the New Moon movie tonight.... so excited!! (Yes I'm another sucker for Twilight)
I tentatively decided to take DS in his sleepy wrap but I'm a little apprehensive about it. He never cries when in the wrap - only sleeps and feeds, but still.....
I'm guessing most die hard fans would've been to see it already? I really dislike expressing (struggle to get enough) so I'd rather him be with me - especially as its s long movie...... hopefully I don't **** anyone off . I'll bring cotton wool for his ears just in case.....
Ok I'll stop rambling and do some housework now.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and manages to get some sunshine.:D
Jellybean: the poem is gorgeous, brought tears to my eyes.
i took Alissa with me to see new moon, i went to the first session of the day so it was pretty quiet. she fed, and slept, or just chilled out snuggling up to me on mine or DHs chest.
So i have some awesome news!!!!! :)
I can now bf WITHOUT a nipple sheild and it doesnt hurt
I went to see a lactation consultant, she showed me how to attach her properly, and first go, did it like a champ. The lady was surprised Alissa went on first go considering she's been using the nipple sheild for almost 6 weeks, she also couldnt believe how long id been doing it with sore cracked nipples, and pink sore boobies, she told me that ive done really well to go this far, i just wish id gone and done it sooner. but oh well its all done now :)
it still takes a little bit of fluffing around to get her on properly and most times i have to atttempt it 2 or 3 times but the point is i can get her on without it hurting and my nipples might actually FINALLY heal :)
it just totally made my day :)
Anyway off to shower and sleep, have had a couple of rough nights with Alissa, she's not been in a bad mood, she just wakes every 2 hours for a feed then it takes me a good half hour at least for her to get tired and to go to sleep.
Night ladies xxx
Stevie - woohoo thats awsome news hun!! May i ask, how did you find the lactation person and how much was she??
Jellybean - hehe Evangeline has been 2 see New moon twice now, and the Christmas carol. All 3 times she feed and slept  Its alot easier when they are newborn i think. Hope you enjoyed the movie ;)
Dedicated Mummy - Thanks hun. Although my family has been extremly hurt and crushed, i always think that someone else out their has it worse.
AFM: Well Evangeline had decided she didn't want to sleep at all yesterday. She had one day sleep for an hr, then wide awake till 10pm :wall: I think she thought she was going to miss out on to much lol. I also think her big sister has been coming to visit. She lays there now and "chats" to the walls, and then the big checky grin appers. Its so god damm cute, it melts my heart. Ethan actually has been getting Lilli's pictures out and showing Evie then. He is to sweet some days, he tells her "this is our sister Lilli, she's in heaven. We can't see her but she can see us" He makes me cry, such a emtional and sensitive little boy.
Well we are off to on party today, then 2 tomorrow. Christmas season has started girls.
rach: when i was at the hospital i was given a brochure on a drop in centre a town away, its free and you can go whenever you want as many times as you want up until bub is 8 weeks, they weigh your baby, all the women there are trained midwives and lactation consoltants. Its called the Life bridge centre. i knew about it the whole time but never went coz i didnt think theyd be able to help me, but gave in and went there and now im kicking myself that i didnt go sooner.
Thanks for being the only one to congratulate William on his weight gain Jellybean.. I'm proud of him and that's all that matters
Well done to all of you ladies who are taking your bubbas to see movies, I never would of thought of taking Leila but seems like it wold actually be fine to take a newborn.
Stevie, awesome news about the lactation consultant and saying goodbye to nipple shields! It's a shame you didn't get more help in hospital. I found the bf assistance I got in hospital was fantastic, every midwife on shift would come over and spend a good amount of time with me making sure I had Leila attached properly it was such a wonderful help.
Jellybean I haven't read that poem yet as everyone has said it brings tears to their eyes and I'm feeling a little delicate so might wait until I think I can handle it!!
LJ well done on Williams weight gain  I haven't been on since you posted. As I said in one of my earlier posts re weight gain it sounds like all of our little ones are doing fantastic and it's so wonderful to read about the great progress they are all making.
Bub4me Welcome!! It's great to have another mummy join our group ;) Sounds like little Ava is a real little treasure.
Rach75 - great to hear that your milk is back! Hope the swelling goes down soon.
Rach221 - hope Evangeline sleeps better today :crossfingers:
AFM well these past few days have bought about a real transformation in my little Leila. Her personality is getting more defined every day. She smiles all the time now and it is so beautiful!! She's so much more alert and takes everything in, she's becomming interested in toys that rattle etc and loves kicking around on her play mat with no nappy on - so cute! AND best of all...... she's sleeping!!!!!!:dance::she sleeps well during the day and night now. the last few nights she's slept from around 9:30pm - 2am then has a feed and is back down until around 5ish, up for another feed then back down until around 8:30am. OMG I cannot express how wonderful this is after weeks of restlessness and totally unpredictable sleep cycles.
Oh, and yesterday we took Leila to get photo's with Santa! They are so adorable, she was so well behaved. She didn't smile unfortunately, which I didn't expect she would as at 4 weeks they certainly don't smile on cue, but she was very happy and content being cuddled by Santa, I'm so proud of her!
Hi to everyone else I've missed.
Fi
quick question for a girl with no idea about IT stuff!! How can I insert a little picture on my signature? hope someone can help
Fi - some tickers insert the pic for you - eg. alternatickers, but not all - Lilypie doesn't have the option I don't think.
I haven't got round to replying but I did say something on FB didn't I, its great he is doing so well
not getting anything with pump now but can express in shower so will keep doing that and see what happens when stop tablets, fluid is much better now still puffy but not massive or anything
we hope to get the boys santa pics either tomorrow or defintaly next weekend, unfortunatly we have to wait till we go to rocky or gladstone as no santa outt his way :(
AFM... I think Luke smiled today :) I was tickling his lip with a brup cloth and I swear it was smiles got some pics so will post them on FB soon :) you can see th difference in expressions :)
Thanks Shades ;)
I know it's not the best picture of her as you can't see much being so small but I figure it's very appropriate for this time of year :D
Fi - Great news on the long sleeping stints at night. Jasper is a great sleeper at night but still wakes consistently for feeds..... hopefully it will be my turn soon!
Stevie - Glad to hear the progress your boobies have made - will make bfding so much easier for you!
Rach75 - Great to hear your fluid is going down - hope it settles completely for you soon.
Rach22281 - Very sweet about your little Ethan. I think its so great how you are so open about everything.
AFM - well, the movie venture was a success! He did start fussing for the boob during one silent part, but I managed to get him attached quickly enough to avoid any drama. He was sooo good. However, I am going to see it again (lol) at the Mum & Bubs session this week so I will probably feel more comfortable there! They turn the volume down a touch and keep the lights on dimly lit to make it easier for breastfeeding etc. :)
Like some of you, my little man is also giving us smiles now and it is so gorgeous..... although its something I've encountered before, its just as magical the second time around. DH and I are so curious to see how his little personality is going to differ from DS1 - already they are like chalk and cheese!!
XX
Jellybean - heheh yep we are a third time round here for smiles etc.. Though i think she is taking after my son, cause seriously she already is a good little chatter
Fi - Oh i love the pic  I can't wait to take santa pics this yr
Rach - Yay on Luke smiling. Its so special when they give you that grin,it melts your heart!!
Stevie - Thanks hun. Damm i don't think we have somewhere like that, might ask a few of the girls from mummys group, they might know.
Well of to the central coast today for a bit of shopping. Another hot day here, so best inside in air conditiong i say ;)
Its a little quiet in here, hope everyone is doing ok :)
Turns out my bfing was an epic fail. i thought i had it but it turns out i dont, it seems like i am never going to be able to bf properly. i feel like such a failure. its depressing lol.
So as of this weekend i will be weening miss alissa onto formula, and seeing how that goes, mabe if i can feed her on that as well and give my boobs a bit of a rest, i might be feel a little more sane.
Going to see new moon again with MIL tomorrow, im addicted i cant wait til the next one. im thinking i might read the books again, but i really dont have the time and when i read a book, im terrible i cant put it down, DH hates it when i get into a book coz he cant talk to me lol.
anyway i hope everyone is well, and all you ladies suffering from the heat like me, i hope your bubs arent too hot and sticky.
xxx
Stevie - hun please don't feel like a failure. I have to give Evangeline a bottle of formula around that 6pm feed to sweety. Seems my flow is not fast enough for her then :wall: Though there have been some days where she has had more then 1 formula feed. So i am BF her and FF, iykwim. The way i see it as long they are healthy and content, then im happy.
hehehe speaking of twiglight, my DH has actually starting reading the books  He wanted to see what the big fuss is about.
Hope everyone else is going good. My friend just had her little boy on sunday morning. well he's little 9pd 12oz, his feet are already bigger then Evangeline's  But im so proud of her, she did it drug free, like she had wanted.
hi ladies I have been MIA sorry!
LJ William is perfect I love all he pics you put up on FB!
Stevie hun  in no way did you fail, you BF A for as long as you could!
JB I saw New moon wiht Flynn, I was dying to see it I am such a hardcore fan and to wait a week was awful lol! I loved it! And FLynn was so good :)
Sorry I forget what else I wanted to say!
Not much happening here, FLynn was 5.28kgs at the last Mchn visit on wednesday he is sucha porker compared to Myles...feeds well but sometimes only has one side so I walk around wiht one little boob and one massive one hahaha! Myles tries to feed Flynn all the time when he is running around nudey lol. We are getting lots of sleep which is amazing but we are co sleeping from the start which has made the big difference!..dont mean to rub it in sorry ...but I do go to sleep when the boys do at 6:30 lol!
anyway must get M ready for swimming.
love to you all xxx
stevie  the most important thing is not b/f but a happy muma cause that will make for a happy bubba, like me we gave the bubs a good head start FF is not a bad thing
sound slike we are all doing reasonably well
AFM we had lukes Paed check up yesterday he is 5250grm :o 56.5cm long and HC is 39.5cm she said thats about the 75 % for everything so beautfully proportioned
his little teste has dropped as well so  it stays down so he doesn't require surgery in a year but she said the fact its down is a very good thing :)
my OB appoint went well, he agrees with GP about seeing a heart dr for fluid retention but aside from that all looks great I am free to drive again  so hopefully I will get a chance to drive the new car if Jase lets me
my other little man saw a paed surgeon and has to have a circumsision :( but OMG he is booked in for thur week he could have gone in mon but jase is on shut down at work and the say the hosp systems are over run:o
boomba- Love your avvy! Co sleepers here too! Then early in the morning she pops into her own bed. Flynn sounds like he's doing great! Nice about the boobies haha I know the feeling.
LJ-Your pics on fb are beautiful! And your pics and skyes pics made me get my bum into gear and get some up of Lucy.
Stevie- You have not failed! Bf can be tricky at the best of tmes ;) You did everything you could and tried your hardest. I believe we should bf BUT only if we can. Your princess doesn't want to see her mummy in agony everytime she has a feed. Its surposed to be a bonding time (feeding your baby) weather it be FF or Bf :) So the sooner you can have relaxed FF feeds with her the better. And just remember you tried your hardest. There's always next bubs to bf ;)
rach2281- What state do you live in? Holy moly your friend had a big boy!!
Rach75- Glad tests have dropped. I think I missed why circumsision is taking place?? Is Jack done too? I dont know what happenes with boys.
Ok ladies all is well here :) My girls are beautiful and more then I could have ever dremt of :)
I have put lots of pics up of them on Fb so have a looksie! They weren't alike at birth but are VERY much alike now! They have there mummies eyes and the same nose. Otehr then that mouth, ears and chin seem to be different.
Personality wise, both mamas girls. Annabelle has always been wise beyond her yrs, says very strange things that confirm she's an old soul ;) I think Lucy will be our joker, layed back heartbreaker!!!
Anyone got any tips on how to deal with not having dad around my girls??? Its truly getting to me, in a bad way :(
Kass its Jack that has to be done :( his foreskin is very tight can't be retracted at all and sometimes when he pees, his little penis balloons up and he can't control where the pee goes :( so to avoid problems in the future and infections he has to have one, the surgeon said it is wuite bad and the alternative of steroid creams wont work :( we are hoping luke wont be the same when heis older
Aw no! thats horrible! You wont do Luck just incase?
Kass both the surgeon and Lukes paed said to not worry bout him for now but when he goes to be TT we will know if he needs doing
JB I finally read that poem and it is beautiful!! Not sad like I thought it would be after everyone said they had tears in their eyes. Just beautiful and so true, I love the quiet night feeds where me and Leila enjoy a special bonding experience :D
Rach221 glad you like Leila's Santa photo! I love you little picture too. I notice everyone has pictures on FB but unfortunately I'm perhaps the only person in the world that isn't on FB!! I just don't think I would have the time to keep it updated which is why I haven't bothered.
Rach75 hope little Jack is ok and that his little procedure goes well :crossfingers:
Stevie, don't stress about having to FF. I'm amazed that you managed to continue BF for so long with all the trouble you have had, you've done a brilliant job  you might even find that by giving a couple of FF you will give your poor bb's a chance to heal and may be able to combine BF with FF. Either way it really doesn't matter as we can all see how much you adore your little girl and I think as long as they are loved it really doesn't matter if they are BF or FF.
Boomba - great to see you back in here and great news about Flynn being such a porker!
Dedicated Mummy what do you mean about not having dad around? Is he workimg too much or just not spending quality time with the girls? I worry that my DH isn't spending enough time with Leila but when I suggest he interact with her or put her to bed or whatever he gets really sensitive and says I'm making out that he is a bad father! If I don't suggest he do stuff with her then usually he doesn't so what do I do? :wall: Men!
AFM not much to report, all going well. Am waiting to hear back from MCHN as I wanted to take Leila in today to get weighed - my local one is only open on Tuesday which is a pain so if I can't go in today I'll have to wait until next week. Oh well, from what I can tell Leila is growing well and is certainly a happy little baby so I'm not worried about anything, would just be nice to be reasurred with a weight check.
have a great day everyone ;)
My dad ;) Passed away in Feb :(
I used to worry that Clint wasn't spending enough time with Annabelle when she was 1st born. I found the older she got the more he got involved! I would get him to have baths with her etc, built there bond really well!
Now he just adores spending time with his girls at any age. Let your Dp do things without giving him 'advice' unless he asked. I had to learn to let Clint do things his way with the girls and come to me and ask if he really wasn't sure. I found this helped him bond even more as he didn't feel like a student and me the teacher ;)
Rach75- Fair enough. I always said I wouldn't get my sons done unless it 'needed' to be done. Poor bubba must be heartbreaking seeing go through it!
DM I'm so sorry for the loss of your father :comfort: and sorry for misinterpreting your post  I know it's not the same but my dad lives interstate and suffers from terrible depression at times. Unfortunately he is not well with his depression at the moment and has yet to see his new grand daughter, my mum has been to visit me twice but unfortunately dad has no interest at the moment which is very disappointing. Like I said, no where near the same thing but I do still worry about Leila not having her grandfather around.
Thanks for the advice about DH. It is so hard to say things without sounding like you are telling them what to do but I think you are right, I should just leave DH to it and let him figure things out for himself or come to me for advice if he needs it.
Just quickly - It's 3:21am and I've spent the last 2 hours writing up my birth story - DS and I have our 6wk check ups today so I'm off to bed now he's fallen asleep
