Tanya. I spent the entire 9 months of pregnancy researching cloth nappies, it did my head in. My advice with cloth nappies is start off simple.

I started with 6 BumGenius v3.0 one-size pocket nappy (which are an excellent, no-fail MCN). They now cost $38 new. I now have 8 BGs, 2 for backup.

I use fleecy cotton flats from Big W (thinner than terry) at night. It's really not difficult to fold flats and they're so cheap that you can build your MCN collection slowly. The flats are so easy that my husband was the one who suggested we didn't really need any more MCNs.

With the flats, I don't even use a pin to keep them closed. I simply use a PUL cover over the top and it all stays perfectly in place. You need only 3 PUL covers in circulation because you can let them air dry and reuse them without washing for a while.

Get 2 buckets with lids and you're done.

    How simple is that?

Also, I recommend Nurture Nappies as the most reliable online store. I've had trouble with some of the others.
