hun u dont even need ammo, like u said no, its ur choice and if u dont want it theres nothing they can do, although they will try guilt u into it! but if u realy dont want it then stand your ground!
ive had to do that sooo many times already with choosing to delay izzy's vaccs, its highly annoying!

the way i see it, i dont want the swine flu vacc for myself, because it doesnt sit right with me, so why would i get my tiny baby to have it?

skye i agree, i will be saying no too. its just too new.

sounds like the bubs have been busy lately! everyones on to their problems and getting them solved which is great.

jades been such a good sleeper, but has a 3hr screamathon every night when put to bed, once she goes to sleep thats it for the night, but to settle her is the hard part. cant complain too much she sleeps through.
she was in hospy twice just after xmas dehydrated and wouldnt drink, they put it down to her reflux, so shes on zantac, seen the pead monday who increased the zantac and prescribed losec if it doesnt improve. he advised us to start solids in 2 weeks when shes 16 weeks, she has had some farex in lieu of thickener a couple of times already, which the pead said was a good idea so thankgod he agreed with me or id have felt bad for giving her so early, but its very minimal, once every couple of days. she took to eating like a duck to water, opens her mouth waiting for the spoon. awww my babies growing up way too fast, im so not ready for her to be eating solids

    where is everyone?
maya how are you and bub? is she better now?
dm, lj, heavenly everyone ive missed, hi, hope ur allwell

Heavenly - seems to mean physical maturation happens a bit sooner than more Anglo-types, which can be nice for bragging-rights, but I'd much rather have resting-rights than running after a small mobile child like I did with DS, and now appears to be happening again, grrrr...it's cute, though. My sister and I had very good physical dexterity very early on, as have all my little cousins in Central America, so it's nice to know I'm passing on a bit of my late grandmother along Glad we start swimming in a couple of weeks, where lots of safety messages are taught and can be used on dry land - really helped with DS with going down stairs etc.
Just got back from a local lake that has a beach - DS was happy for a swim, and I had a little dip before dealing with a little girl again. She was tired and is all tuckered out. Tomorrow we're heading out early and then I have my GF coming over for dinner - haven't seen her since last Feb and until 2008, we'd lost contact for 10 years after being the tightest of friends. It's been ace to reconnect, even if it's mainly been email contact!
Oz - smitten's the word, hey? Acest kids in the world!
Anyhoo, gonna see about sewing some little leggings for my chicklet (not that she needs them this week...). Hope everyone has an ace weekend, moving into the 3 month age

Sorry to back track abit,, my ds that wasn't premmie was walking at 10 months, where in central America are you my dh was born in el Salvador

    Hey girls!

Well Ella's on the losec now for the reflux, though havent notcied much of a change yet. Also has a case of the snuffles -awful when they cant breathe properly and are a bit miserable!
The paed told me to start Ella on solids in a few weeks to , so will be interesting to see if this has any effect!

Been very busy gong to a few different mums groups - have no idea how I will ever go back to work - lol.

Been away for a week - was weird, not sure I can be bothered rehashing it in a Boo Hoo thread, was bad enough in real life! I went to my parents where my sister was, but a childhood friend of my mum's was there, and therein lay the issues...a weird egg who kept making sly comments to my sister about how my daughter cries too much and that my son is 'bad'...WTF?? The weekend was great when I ditched DS with my sister and parents (and biatch features) and took the girl and me to the fire brigade championships.
Heavenly - my mum's from Honduras, so right next door My rellos are very Mayan, rather than from Spanish heritage.
Jen - yep, thanks for asking, T is all better! This time last week I was still getting quizzed by my dad as to whether I'd be taking her to a doctor, and before I knew it there was no wheezing and she's fine
The leggings are very cute and I'm going to make some more and get better at this sewing caper.
I won't be introducing solids any time soon, and probably not at 6 months (DS was about 10 months before he started eating non-BM in any kind of earnest). My babies have to at least be sitting unassisted for that caper! I don't use the guidelines, I go more by developmental cues. I won't be doing Farex (again) because I've heard too many constipation stories and the iron in the food doesn't absorb into their systems anyway - there's a lot less iron in breastmilk, but at least all of it is absorbed and I can count on that. She watches us eat and not with any greater interest than she watches us use to loo, have a shower, etc - it's a developmental tendency for them to start watching and copying from abotu 4 months, not a need to be eating solids. I've got no reason to believe that my milk isn't providing what she needs, and also for that reason I don't feed solids before BFing - if the solids fill the belly up, then that's a bellyful of limited minerals and vitamins that largely won't be absorbed anyway, whereas a breastfeed provides a broad spectrum dose of good bacteria as well as vits and minerals that haven't yet been quantified by scientific types. Plus, I love the old tenet - food is fun till they're one
T is moving backwards in a kind of commando crawling motion - not much, but when she gets it, it's backwards!
I dunked her in the caravan park pool where I stayed with the brigade team - twice! She dealt with it very well and I had been priming her for weeks for it. I'm really looking forward to babyswim lessons next week with my next water baby
Better go, DS has picked up a lovely habit of spitting from a GF's son and I want to kick him outside NOW...

KellyD - my hair is everywhere too!! I have far too much hair anyways so love it a good de-shag-a-fi (he he he I know its not even a word)

Skybie - not long till you go away either... or are you already there???

AFM- sorry haven't really been around much... Charlotte isn't a fab sleeper at night so I have been well and truely sleep deprived and chasing a very active 2 year old!!!! SHe will get there I know.... she still has loads of gas and crys a lot - Dh calls her 'cranky sumo' !!! Cause she is a little chubba bubba(love it) we are already in crawler nappies and 00!!! Its so different because ds was long and skinny!!!! Went and saw a knee surgeon yesterday and it looks like I may need my patella replaced!! Off to have more scans today ... needless to say my knee is buggered!!

Chepie when will you have to have surgery? Hoe is Mr A doing? I think our ds's are at a such a fun and at the same time frustrating age lol. My dd thinks he ace though.

Ery have you started solids? How is she taking to them?

Heavenly I cant believe she is still so small. How is she liking the bassinet?

Maya how is the baby swim going? Wow at the commando crawling, T is a clever little thing. I am pretty much the same as you with solids, dont do farex and will wait for developmental cues that she is ready. I am in no hurry its just another thing that I will have to do each day lol.

I have been lucky enough to have spent this past weekend with Skybie, Nina21 and Jen, we had such an awesome time and got lots of photos of our girls together.

I was looking at the pics as they came in, what a great catch up you had!
Chepie - was great to read from you Yep, I second Oz, DS is so great, yet so trying. It's so hard to stay on top of his needs and tend to a littler one, too - it's when I really lament the loss of the 'village' because at this stage we'd be able to send our older ones out to play with and learn from older children and mix with other kids their age...and they'd be out of our hair so we could be with our babies! There's lots of frustration ensuing when I can't drop everything for DS
T is going great, as usual. Yep, she has started the BabySwim classes, but the first class was a bit boring considering what I've already been practicing outside of class! Plus, class time is really not working - it's during her cluster feeding time and can't feed for an hour before lessons (they're much more likely to poo otherwise, though T wouldn't cos we've got a different toileting pattern where she'll have done her poo on the chamberpot after some cueing), so she was really quite upset by the time the lesson was over. May have to look into another time if this week is the same. She's enjoying the water, anyway - may end up like her "I like to float face down, Mr/Ms Lifeguard" brother...
Been very busy here with packing up the house (well, DP has been...bit hard with one or the other child hanging off you!) and preparing for the next phase of life. This week is me running around finding out what banks will lend etc while maintaining normal activities for DS! Before we know it we'll be moving to MiL's and organising our shed cum temporary housing. Life could be worse than having one of the highest hills in the Korumburra area with clear views to the Prom! Oh, and I reckon DS reckons life could be worse than having a tourist railway as a boundary fence...
T is really getting that caterpillar thing happening, so she's moving all over the bed when she's not quite asleep and being fidgety. Right now she's completely starkers, and has been all sticky night - this EC is paying dividends already! I wish I could call her clever, but really it's just lucky genetic pre-programming throw-back - nice to share it in DP's gene pool, though
I haven't booked T in for her shots yet, must really get onto that. Her growth has slowed down, so now she's not overtaking DS anymore, thank goodness! She's actually sleeping in our hanging hammock now - I realised that DP had tied the 'back up' string so that the spring didn't have enough bounce. Now that it can spring the whole length she goes to sleep in there, and doesn't already have to be asleep! DS was never able to just drop off to sleep (aside from teh car) so this is quite novel for me to have a baby who'll just nod off without help!! I just got used to DS needing help to go to sleep and I didn't mind it because it was all I knew. I'm so glad he was first - LJ, when you have your second you will be glad you had the challenging baby first!
Better go and get some things done (like showering) before T wakes up again.

hi all, back from qld, had an absolute ball! oz, skye and nina are such wonderful ppl, and all the bubs are simply stunning, not to mention the older children being awesome and gorgeous. glad to be home, yet missing that holiday feel already.

maya - i think you do what works for you, solids, no solids whatever works, its just about figuring out what makes your bub happy i think. not to mention what makes mummy happy too lol. good luck on the move. sounds like busy tiimes ahead for you.
solids have made a huge difference to jades reflux, im glad i started her. shes switched to raffertys, taking some getting used to the different texture, but shes as happy as ever to eat. i only offer solids after she has had enough milk, and is refusing anymore (which is almost always a monster feed) and shes not shown signs of preferring the solids yet.

ery, how is ella have you started her on solids yet? has it made a difference. hope the losec helps.

where is lily dust? how are you hun?
    and cam where are you?

chepie good to hear from you, gosh you must be so tired, i hope your knee is ok and they can sort it out quickly for you.

hi to kelly, heavenly, lj, v love and anyone else ive missed, hope all is well, and bubbas are doing great

Oh, for sure, Jen, re: solids. I get mad when there is misleading 'advice' about iron intake, though, when MCHN's are wanting babies on solids. There are other things you can say to a mummy rather than unnecessarily worry them about supposed lack of iron in BM! If more people knew that the iron in Farex type things doesn't actually get absorbed and only looks good on paper, they wouldn't start solids till later, and it's only because the MCHN hasn't been updated iron absoroption since the 'olden days'. If you've got other reasons then they are other reasons, but the iron one is a furphy. I hope DD goes as long as DS did without wanting solids...one less person to clean up after There is also a lot of misunderstanding about the developmental side of solids introduction that I won't go into here, as it's been said before in related threads.
Better put a tired DS to bed now that DD is asleep...

Hey gals! Great to see your catch up in sunny QLD was fun!

Oz and Jen - The losec appears to be working now so she is much happier, is sleeping well during the day and night (well, most of the time ) and is actually feeding well without screaming!
I havent started the solids yet but will be doing so in the next few days. The paed told me to start her aswell for the reflux and as shes still getting the reflux and screaming for the last feed of the day /night I will probably give it to her for dinner!

May - I understand alot about the developmental side of giving solids as am an Early Childhood Teacher so studied child development and was going to wait until at least 6 months for the food but if it helps her reflux then I am all for it!!! Just hate seeing the little one in pain! The baby swin classes sound great! Ella is loving the bth so will have to get her some lessons - she had her first day at the beach a few weeks ago and splashed in the water!

Heavenly - wow 0000's what a big girl! hehehe Ella is still in 000's but won't be for much longer!

Chepie - ahhh sounds painful! Ella has been in crawler nappies for while now - more protection for the explosions that somehow make it all the way up her back..

    Hi Girls

Sorry, I have been MIA a bit, have been reading about all the goings on and all your very adorable babes just having been posting.

Ery- So great to hear the Losec is working, poor little Ella has had a bit of a rough time of it. Very exciting to be starting solids!

Jen- Hi hun, Im ok thanks for asking . OOO Jade's on solids too, so exciting! We are really getting excited and cant wait to get to that stage! Great to see you had a nice holiday, it always nice to come home but how great is it to see a different scene when you get up of a morning...even just for a little while??

Maya- your new 'home' sounds like it is going to be just gorgeous, I think there are plenty worse places you could be waking up each day . Great to see T is having swimming classes, I used to be a learnt to swim instructor and absolutely loved teaching the baby class- unfortunately not enough mums think its a good idea around here to start them young.....Not sure of the logic, maybe kids need to be at least 3 to drown or something?!?!

Heavenly- Wow, Serenity sounds like she is growing so well! We went up a nappy size to crawlers but had to go back down to infant ones as DD kept weeing out the legs! They were just too big on her . Just starting to outgrow 0000s here and starting to go into 000s, not sure what is going on there because DD doesnt seem to outgrown anything despite gaining weight and getting longer, maybe they keep stretching?!?

Chepie- You sound like you have your hands full and a buggered knee to boot, I bet that aint much of a help! Hope you get it all fixed up soon- good luck!

Skybie- I'm in agreeance with you about the swine flu vaccine, I am sure I will have a fight on my hands with the narrow minded Drs here BUT I dealt with them with my pregnancy/ birth choices and Ill deal with them again- bring it on I say! Sometimes I wonder if they bury theyre head in their hands and say 'why bother' with me sometimes.

Kelly- What did you end up deciding about solids, 4 or 6 months???

Cam- Hows Luke going with his sleeping at night these days?

Hi Oz, great to see your holiday was great too!

    Hi Nina, LJ and everyone

Just a by the way question.....does anyone have a Fresco High chair?

    Hi Everyone

I'm still here as well, but finding time to post is getting harder when you have a baby that is now more awake during the day.

So good to here everyone is doing well.

AFU: Tara had her 4mth immunisations yesterday and didn't scream at all, she was very brave and even smiled for the nurse after it was all done. We are now also onto solids, I started about 1 1/2 weeks ago and she really knows what it's all about as soon as she sees the spoon her mouth is open waiting.

She has also started to do back to tummy rolls, she hasn't learnt the other way around yet but I'm sure it won't take long once she realises it is the only way to get onto her back again. She also had her weigh in last week and is now 6.5kgs and is 62 cm long, which makes sense why I've now had to start putting her in size 0 all in one suits. How fast do they grow and now she is on solid food as well I'm thinking she will be a chunky monkey before to long.

    im baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!
had an absolute ball with nina21, Oz and jen, i miss them and their babies already!!
girls were fantastic on the plane and slept so well whn we were away.
iz has been sampling solids for a few weeks now, i dnt think she's fully ready for it yet though, she opens her mouth when a spoons near her and she gets cranky if u dnt feed her quick enough! she had some ice cream while we were away and went crazy, was very funny!
she rolls all the time now and has found her feeties and is starting to get a little bit more coodinated with grabbing things and ptting them to her mouth.

Better go unpack and clean this house up, was so nice to close the door on a messy house last week when we left, not so nice opening the door and coming home to a messy house!
