Thanks for the meet up today ladies, had a great time... Hope I didn't talk too much, when i'm cooped up by myself for a while I burst at the seems with chatter! :) All the bubs behaved very well and they are all just gorgeous! Everyone looked great... Surprisingly no one looked exhausted! LOL
-
Kate - the avent one is the one that made her gag! I've also tried the nuk brand, and I've bought a newborn happy baby dummy, but haven't yet tried it (i'm too scared now!)
-
Hi all,
Kellied - Dont feel bad. I'd say both times she had a belly ache. Thowing up would have made her feel a load better.
I find Tiera doesn't need her dummy any more. She is really quite settled, except when shes tired and letting me know shes hungry... both of which are easy to fix. Hopefully I haven't spoken too soon!!! lol
Mother's group again tomorrow and I am REALLY looking forward to it. We had such a lovely morning last week and I enjoy meeting new people.
I hope the Bris ladies enjoyed their get together yesterday. It would be good to put faces to names!
When are the SYD ladies having their get together?
Hope everyone had a great day! :p
-
Vivienne, I meant to ask you - Which Child Health Clinic do you guys go to?
-
It was so nice putting names to faces today!! Both Rhys and I had a great time!! We will definately have to do it again soon.
-
what a wonderful morning we all had:) cant wait to do it again:)
-
Hi everyone!
Glad to hear your meet-ups went well! You should take a group photo one day and post it for the rest of us to see!
Had a busy day today getting out of the house visiting people. I was going a bit nuts and decided to bite the bullet and just get out of here! I saw my little niece who is now two weeks old, I haven't seen her since the day she was born so it was nice to see her awake.
Joel has been an absolute nightmare with keeping everyone awake (yes I said Joel, not Kieran!). When he goes to bed he likes to hum, chant, sing, etc... for a while as a way of winding down. He used to only do this for maybe 10 minutes then go to sleep. Otherwise we could just tell him to stop and he would. Well, now that Kieran has arrived he is using it as an attention thing (even if it is negative attention) and will do it at the top of his lungs. I tried to have a nap at 8pm last night and couldn't sleep because Joel was so loud. We went in numerous times and offered bribery then threats (!), but he continued for an hour and a half!! I was in tears from getting no rest. This morning I put Kieran down at 6am after his feed and hopped back into bed, half an hour later Joel woke up and started his chanting (he does this when he wakes too...sigh...). I nearly cried again! So anyway, I am feeling a bit mental right now. Luckily DH bribed him with a ride on his skateboard tomorrow if he is quiet and he hasn't made a noise tonight!!
Ahh...sorry about my rant, I just needed to get it off my chest! Right now both boys are in bed and DH has gone out to play in a tennis grand final so it is nice to have some time to myself. I would go have a nap, but Kieran is a bit windy tonight and I keep having to go in and settle him. Oh well, it's better than Joel's chanting!
Have a great evening everyone. Sleepy vibes to all!
-
Kellie-just like everything else:what works for one is worst for another!!!!
Tiff- we've been meeting at a cafe in Parramatta park
so today for the first time i got explosive poo'd and wee'd on while out-lucky we were at the shops so i bought myself a new shirt to wear, must remember to pack a spare shirt 4 me along withy miss h's spare outfit :)
-
Trish - You poor mite. I've been wondering lately how I'd go with two youngsters and I thought of various senarios and they sounded just like what you described! Is DH able to give you a break of a weekend??? Or can DH take Joel to the park or something for a few hr on a weekend when Kieran is asleep so you can have a nap??? I must say I am really lucky that home is work for both DH and I. Tiera wakes up with the sun, so he gets up to her and takes her over to the office until she is either due for a feed or I wake up. I hope you get a good sleep soon, you must be a patient person to have taken so long before having a cry! I'm sure it'll all settle down before much longer.
Kate - That happen to me yesterday, but I was at home! lol It has to happen at some stage doesn't it?! :P
-
Thanks Tiff! Luckily DH will get Joel up on a weekend so I can sleep in a bit longer and he has on occasion taken him out so I can rest during the day, he is a gem! It all just seemed so much harder last night and today, I think the lack of sleep has finally caught up with me. I am also amazed it has taken 4 weeks to finally have a cry! I cried heaps more early on with Joel. I'm not normally a crier though so DH takes it pretty seriously when I do! What would I do without him?? Your DH is great by taking Tiera for a while in the mornings! I bet she gets lots of attention at the holiday park.
Anyway, off to bed finally!
-
Ange - Re LINERS I think I got mine from Best For Baby??? A long time ago, can't remember the brand. I am chasing up some more. I have been told that The Wee Wuns has some, maybe Nurture Nappies too, have not checked yet.
HTH :)
-
Are you talking about nappy LINERS? I have some from Nuture Nappies - have prewashed them, but not tired them yet...
Kaylee had a bit of scream when she got her vaccinations, then went to sleep for awhile after... but then was very unsettled. Nanny (my mum) came for a visit and has taken Kaylee home for the night as DH and I are both exhausted. I didn't sleep last night - think I was very anxious about the vaccs. Hope I can get some sleep tonight!
-
peta it must be nice to have a break here and there... dam breast feeding, lol
i was a bit suprised today that all the brissy and gc girs all breast feed!!! go us:)
-
Looks like I woulda been out of place then if I had come. No breast feeding for me.
Bum, I think AF is on her way to me too. Cramps etc. God it was nice not having it for 9 months.
Hope everyone has a great night with lots of rest!
-
i wasnt saying its a bad thing. just weird.... didnt expect it
-
Becky im thinking the same thing....of course cos im going away she will decided to return!!
-
Aww Becky... ALL the ladies were lovely, you wouldn't have felt out of place! Atleast you wouldn't have to worry about squirting milk across the table ;)
Trish - I'm sorry Joel is giving you a bit of a hard time :hugs: I envy you for being able to handle two... I honestly have no idea how i'd cope!
Most of the ladies did bring cameras and Christine (Vivienne's Mum) was kind enough to take photo's. So I suppose it's just a matter of time before someone posts one.
-
Hi girls!
Had a lovely time yesterday will definately have to do it again! I have uploaded one of the group photos in my gallery! Rochelle was one gorgeous girl, all the boys were fighting for her attention!hehe!
x
-
Rebecca - I just saw on the ABA that they have a booklet available for purchase on relactating. Just thought i'd let you know incase it's something you wanted to look into further. ;)
-
Thanks Catherine will have a look. Gee - I just noticed that you had a 3 hour labour!!! Was that from waters breaking to Ro's arrival? I had 13 hours from waters breaking! And tear free- me too - but they cut me for the vacuum extraction - stubborn little girl I have!
Had a pretty good day yesterday. DH surprised me with getting a day off work - looks like it will be a permanent arrangement. If he works on the weekend he gets a day off during the week - FANTASTIC. Will let me get stuff done!
We had a terrible night last night and it was DH's fault!! He let Caitlyn sleep for a long time yesterday - put her on her belly beside him on the couch and let her have about 5 hours straight!! Would have much preferred that at night! So last night we FINALLY got her down at 9 pm - slept till 10.30 settled her at 1130 up at 1230 settled her at 130, up at 330 settled her at 430 up at 530 and I have just got her down now! Need a shower!!! Oh and by settled I mean fed, changed burped etc etc whatever she needed! Or what I think she needed!
Now I have plugged in my old laptop, loaded some music and just have that playng in her room with her! Seems to work! And I'm talking dance type music - not pretty lullabys! She seems to take after her mother!
Anyway - I am off to the Doctors today for my 6 week check up. I just hope little miss doesnt play up while I am there! Have decided that I will walk there with the pram in the hope that it will put her to sleep if she is awake and she will stay asleep during my visit. I am so tired! Think I got about 5 hours sleep last night if I am lucky.
Anyway - am off to shower and do some dishes (if she stays asleep for that long!!) Have a great day everyone!
-
Wow, all you girls look amazing in the photo! Are you sure you all just had babies!? lol
Trish - you poor thing, the same sorts of things are happening at our house with the girls, kate has only just finishng screaming about having breakfast in the wrong bowl (she got a bowl with a rabbit on it and she wanted on with a princess on it lol) - she kept it up for an hour! She is not usually like this! Keiren will get better, at his age i think they find it a bit hard to adjust! Things are very slowly getting better with its a bit like 2 steps forward one step back at the moment. Now i will have to go clean Toby;s bedroom - they decided to empty a whole bottle of powder around his room. ARGGHH, kids, who'd have them? :)
The vic meet up is so far away for me - nearly 2 hr drive by the time i get through the city! dang!
Have a good day,
Bec

Morning ladies,
Quick one, off to Mother's group. Question - When did you all stop bleeding after birth??? I've seen a couple of people mention their getting their AF. I haven't yet stopped so want to know how much longer I've got to look forward to this!!! :)
Thanks in advance ladies. Have a great day
-
Pish - My bleeding stopped around a week ago. However it went from red, to brown to a yellowish to now pretty much a clear discharge (sorry if TMI!) and I am 6 weeks post natal today. Still going now but only a very little bit. No longer using pads - just liners - stopped that at about 5 weeks.
Just a quick question - does everyone's little one still startle themselves awake? I still have to swaddle Caitlyn really tightly to stop her arms jerking her awake and even now the little "darling" gets her arms out. Her sleep only lasted 40 mins!
-
sorry havent had time to catch up yet.
Had a call from my gp today and he is now concerned about Tyron's jaundice levels,(somehing i have been concerned about from day 1 and 2 weeks ago he had another test)Im waiting for a call back from him as i tried to get into see a Paed but nothing available for weeks.
He said its not panic mode but they are higher than normal and he'd like a second opinion.
different days he looks more yellow than others. If you get a chance on facebook have a look at some pics and tell me what you think..... each time i see him against another baby i realise how yellow he still looks but seeing him all day every day its harder to notice it.
Its very frustrating i know this could all contribute why the poor boy wont bf aswell,
ETA: just uploaded a pic taken last night in my gallery. have a look. Oh and doc just rang and got me in at 2pm
-
Morning everyone!
Great photo of all the QLD girls! What stunners!!
Thanks Catherine and Bec for the sympathy! Bec, I know what you mean about 2 steps forward and one step back! We had a giant step back today, though it is all calming down now.
I am soooo tired today. I woke up at 5:15am to feed Kieran, put him down in his cot by 6am, but he was a bit windy and unsettled so this woke Joel and started his chanting episode which means I can't go back to sleep. DH got him up while he was getting ready for work and put the TV on for him hoping I could get some sleep while he watched TV, but as soon as DH left for work Joel cried about being left alone and came into bed with me  . Hopefully I can have a nap this afternoon when they are both asleep.
Rebecca - Kieran still startles, I think this reflex lasts for a while (I can't remember how long). He definitely sleeps better when swaddled. Good luck at your 6 week check up!
Nic - Good luck at your 2pm appointment. I'm sure little Tyron will be OK. He looks gorgeous and healthy in the photo you posted! He looks ever so slightly yellow compared to the other bub, but it doesn't seem all that noticeable to me, I probably wouldn't even have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it. Let us know how you go.
-
hi nic,
yes he still is quite jaundiced foe his age, all three of my kids had jaudice, with emma needing phototherapy for nearly a week, katre needed the therapy but didnt get it anf toby was boderline of having treatment, but i really think he needed it, it has only been this week that we have noticed he isnt so yellow. It can really have an effect on feeding mainly due to the baby being so sleepy. Good luck for your appt, and let us know how you go.
Bec

Becca - 3 hours was my entire labor, from word go. Woke up at 6, went to the loo to pee and saw my bloody show on my panties and fluid (which I thought was my waters, but wasn't), then contractions started and continued one minute apart till I had her. My waters didn't break until she was crowning. I was 8cms when I arrived at the hospital... I was actually only going in so they could check my waters (and then going home) - it's probably pretty lucky I did, because I am really stubborn and was determined to labor at home and I thought I had another 12 hours because I was told that first babies you could drive to the country and back and still make it to the hospital. Rochelle wanted to be fashionably late, but when she decided she was ready, she MEANT she was ready and came at great haste... there was no stopping her! I'm sorry you had a not so good night :(
Did anyone elses bubs have the broken capillaries in their eyes? Rochelle did, and they told me it was because she came so fast?
Pish - I seem to be a bit odd with everything and my lochia left at about 2 weeks, but was as Rebecca described it at the end of those two weeks it went to a mucousy sort of discharge. About a week ago I got my period back - bright red and heavy... it's still really heavy now, and painful! I thought you were meant to bleed for 6 weeks... maybe I have a super uterus and it's really strong? LOL
Nic, goodluck with the jaundice!
We're off to the clinic!
-
Thanks Amber for putting the photo up. Your photo is much better than mine, L is really putting on a show by then. It was great meeting all of you. Maybe next time Becky can join us and all the SEQ girls will be together. I wonder if Toscanis has got over the congestion of prams and everyone feeding their bubs!
Picked up DH on the way back from our lunch and went to the child clinic to weigh L. He is now 3.5kilos. Still small but he is getting there. We then went for a walk and then had coffee and cake. L behaved himself and we ended up having second coffees just so he could sleep a little longer and we didn't have to wake him putting him back in the car. So in all had a very active day.
Which probably explains why he was a nightmare overnight. He's waking up at about hourly intervals and taking over an hour to settle. During the day and evening is okay, just at night when you really want/need to sleep.
Rebecca - been meaning to ask what DH does that takes him away for such long periods. Its nice that ur DH can have a day off during the week, it may help you with appointments or at least you can get out and do some shopping or other outside chores while he minds DD.
Hugs to everyone.
-
hey that pic of you brissy mum and bubs is great! I knew who Catherine, Viv and Ange were but not sure who else was who! someone tell me?
Well Nixon was jaundice but understandably cause he was premmie, but never seemed to be an issue because he was i NICU anyway so they used to do the heel ***** every secnd day. i jus checked his notes and his levels were 260. Doc told me Tyron's level ws at about 100 so not bad but he is going on 7weeks old.
i just wish they put him under in hosp and got it right from the start. different days he looks a differnen colour. one day is is fine and the next looks real yellow.
Rebecca- did Emma stay in hosp and have it or she had to go back to hosp oce already home?
catherine- i cant imagine how your labour was must have been sooo full on, and i bet u thought how the heck do pppl do this for 12hrs plus at this intensity? My sisters first labour was only 3hrs 45mins and i know she thought that and the whole time was really full on.
Kim- congrats on Chelsea walking how cute!
Trish- i hope you get a nap this afternoon. Ive found Nixon seems to be waking earlir than normal so no sleeping in for me. but then he has a big mid morning sleep and im not tired yt by then so i try and get everything done! he has just woken now been asleep for 2.5hrs!
-
Cath- my bleeding lasted as long as yours. 2 weeks ish. But they say up to 6 weeks is normal or maybe average...... not sure?
Off to mothers group, bit apprehensive.....
Nic- Hope all goes well with Mr T today. He does look a TINY bit yellow, but i wouldn't have noticed either unless you pointed it out. How is he feeding? hope it's all working out for you.
Lu got her not-so-secret santa pressie! Thanks Santa ;) waiting to open it on chrissy day. :D
-
Well Kaylee was a very good girl for nanny, and did a nice 7-hour sleep from 10pm - 5am! She has NEVER done that for me :(!!... She then fed at 5am, went back to sleep and was asleep when I got here (still at my mum's atm), fed at 9am, had a lovely play time with LOTS of smiles, then a grizzle and back to sleep just after 10am. Mum is at work, but we are going to meet her for lunch before we head home.
Amber - great pic, you gals are all looking gorgeous!
Ange - enjoy mother's group! I really enjoy mine!! I was a little unsure before I joined, but it is really great meeting other new mums.
Oh, AF arrived this morning :(... I can't remember exactly how I long I bled for after birth, was at least 4-weeks - but very light flow the entire time for me as I had a c/s and 'clean' out the uterus quite a bit. Then I'm pretty sure I ovulated a couple of weeks ago - which I asked the Dr about and he said yeah can restart that early! Then AF arrived this morning - ARG! Been so nice not having it most of the year!
Have a nice day ladies!
-
Oh, Nic - Kaylee had very bad jaundice too, and we went back to the hospital 3-days after being discharged and were readmitted as soon as the paed looked at her, they put her under double phototherapy lights before the blood tests had even come back!! She was under the lights for nearly 48-hours.
-
I hope you all have a good week. Probably wont be online for the remainder of the day..ill try pop online now and then at the relos!!
My bub is 1 tmrw!! My gosh how fast its gone. She is a toddler...to think this time last yr i was in early labour :D
-
nic - emma developed the jaudice straight away so we were still in hospital, if toby's jaudice had got any worse we would have had to back into hospital. btw, the heel *****s are not very kind are they, poor bubbas. Emma had from a tuesday morning to the saturday morning under the lights and she was still yellow for quite a while.
Becca - with my three kids, all of my labours were short and full on emma 3.5hrs, kate- 3.75 hrs (she got stuck! lol) and toby 2 hrs 15 mins! I think i will order a 10 minute labour for the forth one!! I wont know what hit me! LMAO
-
Have a safe trip Kim! Happy birthday for tomorrow Chelsea!!!
-
i went to post something then heard a little cry from down the hall... in the meantime you girls have added another page... one day i'll keep up.
nice to see everyone yesterday. i had one thoroughly over-stimulated boy by the time we'd wandered round the mall etc. i think the heat was a tad too much for him. he certainly had an arsenic hour last night.... poor kid. i think i'm going to reduce his mall doses to one a week (if that). he's a gem today. slept 8 + 3 last night and is asleep now. just likes being home methinks.
i think we're bonding better now. i just love him to bits and i can't help feeling his little babyhood slipping away *sniff*. even when he has a scream he's still cute.... sigh. i can't stop sniffing his head either. it's like an addiction. *covert sniff*
had physio this morning. 1cm ab separation above the belly button, so i'm doing ok. still banned from hard core exercise for another 6 weeks. *miffed*
all these posts are swimming before my eyes and i can't think what i wanted to talk about...
bleeding - mine went light after 2-3 weeks, stopped for a few days (yellowish) then came back light brown and went back to yellow yesterday. hoping it's stopped by the time Louis has to dig around in there for my 6-week check.
not looking forward to AF any time soon. still toying with getting the Mirena IUD (bit scared tho')
i have just put up the xmas tree. dh gets decorating duty this year so it's still just green for the time being.
baby wipes - turns out the big fella is a bit like his princess-and-the-pea mother and is sensitive to everything. even the extra-sensitive huggies wipes (and johnson's) cause him to flare up on the bot. the midwife got me onto using warm wet facecloths on his bot instead of wipes. fixed him right up - just with one day of using a plain wipe yesterday it's flared again. not cool. old school cloths for him!
my question today is this: how do you feel about your baby at the moment?
my SS present arrived - won't be opening it until the day but i have shaken it and fingered the edge of it already :-p
-
Just got back from mother's group, where I got Tiera weighed and for the first time, she is ABOVE her birth weight!!! :confetti: Woo Hoo!!! I actually feel like I may just be doing things right now! She is one happy booby baby and is thriving beautifully. Tiera weighs a healthy 3.78kg. She gave the nurse a big smile just as she asked if she was smiling yet! :D It was very educational today and I got a lot of questions answered.
Rebecca - Tiera stil startles her self if I don't wrap her. Just as Trish said, I think thatast for a while due to their reflexes developing (I believe).
Trish - I hope your off having a lovely long nap!
Catherine - 2 weeks... You are VERY lucky!!! I wish!!! Ithink I'll end up a 6 weeker by the looks of things ;)
Nic - I hope every goes OK with little Tyron! Poor little tike!
NT - to answer your qu.... I can't believe how much I could love someone! I always knew you love your chn more than anyone else, but is just amazing how much you can love themand the grows with every day. I am so proud and feel incredibly blessed. We are so lucky to have such a happy, healthy, relaxed and well behaved little bub! We are even lucky enough to have a bub that loves to sleep at night!!! :D
-
Catherine - Harry has broken capillaries too - I thought it must have been the pushing?! I pushed for an hour! To think if I was in hospital they would have only have given me 20 minutes before going on about assisting me to get Harry out!
Nic - I thought Ty looked a little jaundice the time I came around with Emily for lunch but not on Monday?!
Pish - I bled in total for about 4 weeks but the last 3 weeks were like a light period getting lighter until nothing was left.
Viv - I'm totally head over heels with my little man. I remember after the birth with Emily it took longer to bond like this and assume it was in my case, because of the traumatic birth and the drugs. Apparently epidurals are known for this. Not that anybody told me at the time!!!
Me - Both children are asleep (I think, hope and pray!) I'm just about to drink a peppermint tea and get down to a good ol' chin wag with a friend. I need to go grocery shopping, we don't have a piece of veg or fruit left in the entire place but I can'r face taking the two children to Woolies! It's the logistics of it - Emily won't say put in the trolley; how do I bend over and put the groceries on the conveyor belt with Harry in the HAB; What if Emily has a tantie; it's just too hard!
-
I am the one sitting down in the Brissy girls photo.
Viv - L challenges me in so many ways, so I feel challenged by him, especially at 4 in the morning! Also very proud that I was part of creating this perfect baby.
Nothing much else happening.
-
im so in lov with lachie, he is perfect in every way!!(even when he poops:))
my question if you dont mind is
How do you feel about your partner???
i am even more in love with him for giving me such a precious gift and being so supportive. i thought i loved him before but apparently it changes a huge amount when the baby actually comes along.
