Queenie, does your ob count up or down when measuring bubs engagement? I ask because some say 5/5 is fully engaged and others go the other way and say that 2/5 is. Hopefully for you it is the former - the sooner you join us the better LOL. And don't worry about feeling blah - we've all been there so we know how you feel.

Marydean, I never worried about mother's groups as they don't really have them out here, just playgroup. The area is too small to have that many bubs of similar age kwim? I don't think you're being ambitious starting next Monday - you know your limitations. LOL at E looking like a panda, Alister looks more like a Teletubbie - especially now he's basically out of 000 and they are really snug now. I don't have many 00 and I dont want to buy anymore because the weather could turn hot really quick. Do you mind if I ask how big was E? I remember you saying that H was a big bub too.

Katie, those pics are great. I bet you're really pleased with them.

Cally, fingers crossed you can get the lump sorted out, but at least it sounds like it is getting better. And Yay for the outing too - wont be long and you'll be an old hand at it.

I think Alister is going through a growth spurt. Yesterday he fed every 2-3hrs and previously it was 4hrly. Plus they were big feeds too. He didn't do his big stretch overnight either - he went down at 8.30 and was up at 2 instead of 4. He is starting to make small cooing noises too, so cute.

So this is where you guys have been hiding

William is sleeping at the moment (finally! after several hours of waking up and wanting to be fed all the time) so I thought I’d better write my first post here
He has been a really good boy since we returned from the hossy, but was a bit unsettled in the past several days … not wanting to sleep, kept shaking his head and seemed like hungry all the time but latched off as soon as he latched on the breast … and ouch, kept pulling in my sore nipples. I really hope this is just a growth spurt. I do realise that he is making lots of improvement lately, his eyes can focus more and he can turn his head to follow an object, such as the frog toy on his mobile … don’t know why he likes the frog though I myself prefer the cute turtle or butterfly LOL

Marydean, hope you’re feeling better and the wound’s recovering. I still had some pain from the stitches (from vacuum, epi & 3rd degree tear) and everytime I contacted my OB he always seemed worried and kept asking about the stitches on my bum
On the new mother’s group, I’ll attend my first session tomorrow (Tuesday) … don’t know what to expect though

Has anybody had to fly interstate with bubs before? I am going to Sydney in 2 weeks so my mum and dad and inlaws can meet Logan. Jetstar told me I have to have his birth certificate which takes 10-12 weeks up here. I called Births Deaths and marriages last week who said I can pay a priority fee and get it quickly. Drove the hour to Brisbane today and paid through the roof for parking to be told they cant speed it up and that I shouldnt need it to fly interstate. Called Jetstar again who are now saying I dont need it. Just wondered if anyone knows for sure?

I think Logan might be going through a growth spurt he is feeding more often. He is doing alot of poo's too which are getting a little watery, any ideas why??

Just logging on quickly to ask a question (sorry for the selfish post).

Rory power chucked his whole feed this morning. He isnt a spewy baby and I wasnt even burping him at the time. I just wanted to know if this is normal???

We had quite a big weekend and although he was fantastic on all our trips out it caught up to him last night and he was waking every 3 hours and not settling as well. He has been asleep since 9:00am and its not 12:00pm!

Renee, it's fine - trust me LOL. Alister did the same thing this morning and it even came out his nose, poor little fella. Sometimes they just do it as they can't control the sphincter muscle at the top of their stomach. If he is otherwise well it would just be a once off. Frightens the living daylights out of you when it happens though.

Katie, I've never flown with the kids so I can't help you there, but gosh, what a bum steer you were given by jetstar. I suppose they need to prove it's your child and that you're not absconding with someone elses. I don't know why BDM told you they can't speed it up - it says they can on the forms - you pay $70 odd instead of $50 I think it was. With his watery poos, it could be from the extra feeds he's having and his bowel isn't having enough time to absorb the water in the stools a bit before he passes them?

Agnes, fingers crossed the freeding eases off for you then and you don't get sore. How are you feeling *down there*? I remember when I had my epi it was like sitting on rose thorns for a few weeks until the stitches went. And the cooing is few and far between, I can't wait till I can have a conversation with him LOL.

Sherie, E was 8lb 8oz (51.5cm) but only a week later measured 54cm so we think one of those lengths might have been wrong? H was longer 54 cm, much bigger head circ, but only weighed 8lb 4oz (must've remembered that bit wrong). E just looks so much chumpier LOL!

Agnes I've had some of the pulling off and shaking head behaviour from E the past couple of days - I've noticed she does it when she's windy & needs to let it rip (at either end, LOL). The other thing was I noticed I was feeling really 'dry' and maybe wasn't drinking enough ...? Anyway I paid attention to how much I was drinking yesterday and now it has stopped. HTH

Katie sorry can't help out with the birth cert/flying thing - wouldn't have imagined it'd be that complicated tho! Breastfed poos come in lots of different shades and consistencies of normal!

Renee, a good way to check is to take his temp, if he has a temp then it's a sign that you might need to take him to the dr. Most baby chucking is pretty spectacular tho and pretty rare that it's because they are sick!

hi all - a quickish post here so sorry if i have missed anything major...
Renee - Noah has thrown up massive amts twice - i looked into it as well and i dont think it is anything to worry about if they are otherwise well. he last did this on sat night right after i got all dressed up as we were going out to dinner with friends... all over me, it was HUGE! he didnt cry or anything he just had a really surprised look on his (spew covered) face... like it was a new trick he didnt know he could do LOL! I am glad Rory loved the shower... Noah had another one last night and cooed the whole way through. he also kept opening his mouth like he wanted to taste the water - sooo cute!
I think he is going thru a growth spurt as well - he is feeding a lot and is quite wakeful - esp last night which was a bit of a nightmare... i am wondering if we are doing too much with him. we are out and about all the time - so maybe he is over stimualted and i am not getting those long sleeps in the night some of you do?? so today we are having a quiet day at home, he is sleeping a lot (catching up from last night i reckon) and all i will take him out for is an evening walk at about 5 - we will meet DH for coffee on his way home from work - i like that routine, i walk about 4 km to a coffee shop and DH meets us there after work and then we either walk or drive home. a real benefit of our move to Canberra that we can do that.
Noah is also 'waking up to the world' a lot - he is sooo different to a few weeks ago, more baby and less new born. this is in looks and behaviour. he is trying to play but he cant much - waking a lot more etc etc. and he is so much more chubby too. it is adorable. are some of you noticing your bubs waking up more and becoming more interactive (kind of)? i also get a few little coos here and there and I am fairly sure N recognises me. he pulled my hair twice today...
Cally - well done on getting out, a big milestone... yum on the milkshake - i want one now! hope the lump has cleared up a bit
MD - i called about mothers groups and one had just started which i could not get into... so now i am not able to start til nov when N will be 2 months...i hope this is ok. i was disappointed as i was really looking forward to the group starting. you are lucky you can get in so fast.. if you feel up to it i would start going next week but i think it is more up to what you feel like - physically and mentally.

i did my 1st expressed feed yetsreday - i cant believe it was as easy as it was actually ( ihave an elec pump) and Noah drank it fine which is great. i think i will try to do one a day or every few days, just to keep it as an option. I was v proud of myself. DH liked feedinghim too.

My mum took herself out of 'quarantine' on the weekend so we spent some time together (she made the most yummy dinner last night) - but now she is feeling worse so she is back in quarantine tonight! i have a sore throat today, i havent told her - she would feel terrible... i so hope i am not getting sick.

i wonder how Jazmum is?
It is good news Mbear has been logging on and just too busy to post - i was getting worried about her (thanks Sherie)

Marydean, I reckon they measure them differently at birth to a clinic measure, cause it's not like they grow that quick LOL. Erin was my shortest bub and she got really chubby looking really quickly and looked so cute because she was short and chubby kwim? Something I've been meaning to ask you too is how is your pelvis going? I was wondering if the pain etc goes soon after birth or does it take a while to settle down?

Pregpan, I've definately noticed the difference between newborn and baby too - especially with his skin. It's changed from that really downy soft newborn skin to soft baby skin and he's definately more alert too. I know he will grow up too quick for me and I don't want him too. I love the idea of walking to meet DH and then a coffee, I really miss doing that sort of thing. The sleep thing is all just luck too. Thankfully Paige and Alister were and are great sleepers - they more than made up for Erin who woke like clockwork every two hours.

A Q for those of you who know you're finished with the baby making, do you feel sad about it? I've been thinking about this the past few days and even though I know I am done, I just feel really sad at the thought that I will never be pg again, give birth again or hold another newborn of my own again. We've been discussing a permanent birth control solution and I just don't think I can make it final yet kwim?

Sherie - pelvis improved really quickly, still a bit sore (still sleeping with my pillows) but mostly just get an achey tired back. I'll go back to see the physio in a few more weeks just to assess and make sure it's all ok again, and will do their exercise classes for a few months as well.

Pregpan, another month before getting in the new mums group is a long time to wait but I'm sure there will be other babies around the same age as well so you'll fit right in still. Nice that Noah is more alert - I really treasure the few wakey moments i get a day with Elisabeth!

Sherie - I hear you on feeling sad about never being pregnant again, although that being said, this last pg was pretty hard for me so i probably didn't enjoy it as much as I "should" have. Ditto on permanent measures being discussed and the finality of it all.

Hi everybody
Here i am Pregpan - have been extra busy making a video for my mum for her 60th Birthday. It was worth the effort - as she really loved it.
Sherie - i do feel sad that this is my last pregnancy. I said to my dh the other night - how sad it is that this will be our last baby. He said ' I don't think we could do 4', which makes me think that even he has thought about it.
renee - Hannah spews quite regularly. I've noticed that recently it's been a little chunky too.

today has been a busy day- It was J's first day back at school today -after 3 weeks off- so we had the school drop off, and then we went back to playgroup after 6 weeks off. Hannah slept the whole time , cause i put her in the HAB.
Has anyone noticed that their bubs poo at the same time each day? H does a huge explosive poo at around 3:30 each arvo. It usually makes its way out of the top of her nappy too.
oops- better go and start getting tea ready and preparing for tomorrow.

Good Morning everyone

Not sure how long i've got before Jasmin wakes up....she had a 7hr sleep last night, from 9pm-4am...was back asleep by 5am so expecting her any time now. It was good to get a nice long sleep though, as the night before the 2 littlies played tag team waking up through the night several times

Jasmin is still going really well - we got our first smile on Friday evening, it was just gorgeous. Now we know when the best time to get them is so we look forward to it and have the video camera on standby! I love this age...they get so inquisitive, she watches everyone walking around the room and is getting more and more responsive every day when people talk to her. Beautiful!

I'm the same with sterilising, a bit blase. I wash everything in hot soapy water, rinse it out in clean water and store it in a container. My breast pump came with a really neat one, so most stuff goes straight back in there. And the dummies have their own little containers too. I usually put some boiled water into a bottle and have it set aside, just at room temp, so if hubby needs to make a formula bottle up for any reason, there's water already there. I only pre-make a bottle or have some EBM in the fridge if i'm working and someone else is looking after Jasmin. Otherwise, she's breastfed or i make a fresh formula bottle up as needed (which isn't often).

We've had varied success with a dummy. I really only offer it to her if she's just hanging on my nipple for the sake of it, not really drinking or sucking. So i put the dummy in, and then settle her into the cot so i can go do stuff. Otherwise she'd happily be latched on to me 24/7! lol

Just returning to the Dianna Ferrari shoes....i bought a fabukous *as new* pair off eBay for about $10 a couple of weeks ago!! I've worn them several times now and i just LOVE them!! It's worth a peek if you want some great bargains....i'm a little bit addicted to it now just bought a bunch of kids clothes for all the girls last week, as they're all going through growth spurts atm and it's costing me a fortune to keep up with it, plus the change in seasons, they all need summer clothes. So its gonna be like xmas around here this week as all the packages start flowing in!! I'm even picking up some good stuff to put aside for xmas prezzies for my nieces/nephews. I can't believe how cheap you can buy stuff on there....and so many things are brand new with tags still on! I got some awesome pumpkin patch clothes for just a few bucks!!! Speaking of xmas shopping, has anyone started theirs yet? I was in denial up until just recently because it's becoming bigger and bigger every year in my family.....good breeders ....and the thought of lugging the kids with me and enduring the throngs of feral shoppers at this time of year is rather off-putting. But i can't put it off for much longer, cos it only gets worse, so i've started looking into what to get everyone and picking up a few bits and pieces here and there.

Re: flying with bub. We've done a bit of that when Broni was young. I think they really just need to confirm the age of the child, because once they reach a certain age, they're not officially allowed to remain in your lap. Plus they only have a certain amount of special straps for the seat belt to secure baby and you safely, so if they know how many they need on that particular flight, they'll ensure they have enough. I would have though BD&M were able to provide a certificate urgently as well....it does say they can on the form. I mean really, how long can it take to type up a form Hope you get it sorted out in time though.

Re: final pregnancy sadness.....not the case with me...i can't wait!! lol I'll be getting a referral when i go back to see my GP at my 6wk check up. I knew all along this would be my last.....perhaps if i was younger i might consider it, but not at this point of my life. I'm just making sure i really enjoy everything with Jasmin and that the kids get to experience it all too. I'm keen to make it as final as possible, as i have a history of falling preg on the pill....besides, i'm starting to forget to take it occasionally, which really worries me. I know there are other contraceptive options, but as i said, i'm so done and now i want to make it final and just get on with enjoying the family we've been blessed with. It's pretty common and quite normal to feel that way though. One of my sisters, who has five children, often thought about going for the 6th, but in the end they decided to stop, and now her husband has had his little operation. I guess because she's still young enough (32) she has a few more years yet up her sleeve if she ever decided to do it again. I think you have to look at the whole picture and take all things into consideration when it comes to deciding if and when to complete your family and then the right option as far as sterilisation is concerned. I'll be asking for a hysterectomy, but i know a lot of dr's are reluctant to perform them on younger women. Thankfully, as i'm an ex-theatre nurse, i still have some connections . Just make sure you take your time thinking and discussing it before you reach a final decision.

Nipple pulling is usually a sign of wind, often wind that has moved down further into their gut and therefore harder to burp up. I find a deep warm bath and some tummy massage works a treat in helping to move it through their system...they let a few rippers go and/or do a big poo within minutes!! When massaging their tummy, the 2 best techniques are: using a flat hand, stroke downwards from their chest to tops of thighs - alternate your hands so you get like a paddle wheel action going if YKWIM. Second stroke, using the pads of your fingers, start a spiral action moving clockwise from the belly button and working your way outwards so that you end up doing big circles that cover the whole area of bubs tummy. Alternate between doing paddle wheel and spiral circles for a few minutes then re-dress bub. Oil works best but you can use lotion as well.
And be fairly firm...it's not just the skin that you want to rub here, you want to press a little deeper and help squeeze that wind through the bowel. You won't hurt them, and even though they may squirm a bit, it feels good for them to get that wind through.

11, LOL at you not being able to wait. I think the biggest worry for me is that it is final - once one of us has the chop there is no going back kwim? I think it will be Dh lining up for it though - he seems more keen. I haven't started Christmas shopping yet, but have a few things put aside. A few years ago I did all my shopping on ebay and I got some great bargains. Even with having to pay postage, it was better for my sanity to shop in the comfort of my own home at midnight LMAO. I buy a lot of clothes for the kids on there too.

11, 7 hours sleep is fantastic. Logan did that at the start for a while but now hislongest stretch is about 5 hours.

Pregpan DH and I were just discussing the other day how Logan is much more of a baby now rather then a newborn. He is so alert and is laughing and giggling all the time now. He is never happy being cuddled and loves to be held upright looking over our shoulder. I am glad your mum got a littl etime with you and Noah, fingers crosse dyou arent getting sick.

Renee we havent had any big chucks yet, although its bound to happen and I have probably just jinxedmyself lol.

dp wanted me to say hi from him lol
lol spewing seems to be the topic of conversastion!!! Asha was spewing projectile style all of her feed almost every time till we switched her to ha ar formula.. then she went ages without any spewing then a few small ones lol and this morning we had a pretty big one that went all over me and the bed lol.. then i was changing her and she weed on me lol then because i was half asleep i didn't put the nappy on properly and she weed on me again about half an hour later lol so thats three changes of clothes for me.. then she was laying on the bed and she spewed the rest of her feed all over my doona, my 3rd change of clothes and herself lol so we went to have a shower...
i tried the shower the other day after everyone was raving about it on here and she loves it, the socks are a great idea too
Asha is slowly leaving her newborn stage too i think, she talks to her bottle now when shes drinking it lol making little noises... everyone says how small she is still but we can see her growing each day and shes only almost 2wks old ... shes getting chubbier in her face and although she was a very awake and alert baby to begin with it seems more and more each day... shes still in 0000 but she can wear 000 singlets and shirts and they don't look rediculously big... want to get her weighed sometime soon so i know if she can go in the baby bjorn because i suspect she is up to 4kgs now i am pretty sure there is a baby health clinic just up the road so i might check that out sometime in the next few days...
dp goes back to work tmw dnt know how i will do it without his help hes been so amazing with everything and now all of a sudden i will have all the housework and the washing and looking after bubs by myself hope i can do it....
appetite is slowly coming back i can eat twice a day now lol kinda feel worried about it coz i have been losing all this weight with the not eating lol i know its a bad way to think but i just can't help it lol...

Hi everyone

11 - I am a total ebay addict, we have bought a cradle (love it), bfeeding pillow, books, clothes etc, and a gorgeous lounge suite and I would've bought my recliner on there if I could've. It's looking like a pretty good option for the chrissy shopping (which I mostly haven't thought about except toy sale toys for neices and nephews in July).

Noni - wow about the three changes of clothes, DH has changed a few times but I'm a bit trickier about dodging it (I recognise the pre-spew burping noise LOL)!

Katie, you saying it's pretty obvious that Logan is under two reminds me of the chaser prank where chas dressed up in a bonnet and nappy and climbed into a pram and tried to get free entry at the zoo, etc! LOL

I'm currently hunting down some mat camis online - need something comfy to keep the breast pads in place at nighttime (sick of wearing bras 24/7 but too leaky to go without) - ABA website had them but they have been discontinued - aaaargh - lucky I found some on the Lovable website which should fit as I'm wearing their bras. Trying to get out today to the clinic to weigh Elisabeth - just to make sure she's not wasting away from sleeping too much LOL - just waiting for the washing machine repairman to arrive. I would chuck the bl**dy thing out if I was up to shopping for a new one right now (it breaks down religiously every year). *sigh*

Howdy ladies...........Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. The week we got home from hospital we had so many visitors, then we headed up the coast for a weeks holiday with Joels' parents (so Hamish could meet all his cousins). It also hasn't helped my cyber social life that Joel has been home and using the computer non stop..........oh yeah and the obvious mummy duties take up a bit of time too !

Will try to pop in more regularly ASAP, but just wanted to say hi and see how everyone is travelling. (Will read previous thread shortly)....

Hamish is going ok.........feeding is good, sleep is ok. I've had a bit of a tummy bug that seems to have affected him a bit so he's been a bit off colour but still feeding so I assume it's all ok. I have an appointment with the ECCN tomorrow and will be interested to see how much weight he has put on. He was 3480 when we left hossy 2 weeks ago.

Hi everyone.

My mum has been here for the last few days to meet Will. It was so good having her here. I don't get to see her much as she lives in NZ, but hopefully we will be moving back soon.

MD, Will is the opposite to E. He woke at 9am this morning and by 2pm he has had 3 naps that added up to 1 hour of sleep. Thankfully he sleeps better at night - usually 3 hours but sometimes 2 and last night a very happy 5 hours.

Sherie, your new avatar is looking very hot!

I have had a minor breakthrough - W was screaming every time we put him in his car seat, to the point where I didn't bother going anywhere. But the other day I took the head support thing out and now he is fine. His head wobbles about a bit but he seems to like it like that.

I know what you mean about looking less new born and more baby. W gives big smiles if you bounce him or give his face big kisses.
