The CD's are great - I need to get DH to put them in iTunes because I have no idea.
Had our first meal in ages at lunch today which didn't end up all over the floor - pear, banana and cruskit with cream cheese. She gobbled it down. And the steamed apple at dinner was a hit after her mornay.
Ange, hope you are feeling better. Glad you don't have to take the medication any more, that must be quite a concern. I was testing for mercury and heavy metals until I found out I was pg at 6 weeks, I was a bit worried about it.
Noni, hope Asha settles down quickly and has a good night for you soon. Hopefully she will be happy again once those teeth are through.
Pregpan, just saw your other thread, W has had baked beans quite a few times. I didn't even consider that they might be hard to digest He seems to be fine with them though. Although a serve for him would be a few teaspoons, I think N is a bigger eater?
MD, did the toothfairy manage to make it to H last night? So cute that E recognised her dad on the phone.
Clare, bugger about the never ending tonsillitis. Are there any natural remedies that you could try?
Trill, hope your hives have cleared up
Rainy, how is L's sleeping? Hope you are getting enough rest
Is anyone else's bub dropping down to one day nap? The past few days W has decided he only needs one day sleep. It is now 1.30 and he isn't even looking tired yet. He would usually have a nap at 11am and 3.30pm for 1.5 hours each but since he slept well the other night (not repeated) he doesn't seem to need it. He already only had one nap on playcentre days (twice a week) so I guess it is just a natural progression. Hoping it will lead to better sleeps at night.
He did the cutest thing the other day and I have to share lol. I said 'we will get our jackets on and go for a ride in the pram' and he looked around and disappeared behind a chair and came out with his jacket! Now I tell him to get his jacket on and he goes and gets it and hands it to me, sooo cute.
Yeah Arte- there is something going on with day sleeps here too. I am lucky to get 1/2 hour in the morning, but still getting 1.5hrs in the arvo. The good news is she is doing 7pm - 6.30am pretty regularly now. Thank goodness.
Feeling much, much better not to be taking meds not recommended during pregnancy!
Cally- food time here is sooooo messy. On the floor, all over the high chair, in her hair. She's a grot! Having homemade tomato sauce and toasted cheese sangas as we speak. Seem to be going down well!
I'm off to chinese Dr for some acupuncture this arvo. Should be nice and relaxing. DH was been a champ, has cleaned the house from top to bottom this morn. while i slept. Feel so lazy but on strict resting orders.
Arte, that's gorgeous! I can just picture him doing that. Alister will sometimes have two sleeps and other times only 1 it depends really.
The hives are still here, but I have some cream that I can rub into them to ease the itching so I don't have to take as much phenergan. When I was in the chemist the pharmacist said it could take a few weeks to clear - thankfully it isn't summer - my legs look so awful.
Alister is getting very speedy now with his walking and a lot more confident. He hasn't crawled in ages. He was so cute at Baby Bounce yesterday because he would walk around, come back, have a sing and then off he'd go again LOL.
forgot almost everything from the other thread though LOL! i am soo vague.
Arte: yeah leila is kinda dancing on the precipice of not wanting 2 sleeps. she has a brief morning one (if we are lucky) then a big arvo one...last couple of days has been for 3 hours!
OMG W is so cute! his comprehension is fantastic!
Ange: glad to see that you are feeling better. some harrowing moments back there no doubt!
Sherie: i too am glad that it's not summer...cause i am soo not into shaving my legs ATM!! LOL! although will have to spare the ladies at L's swim class on monday...better get out the chainsaw...
AFM: well the saga known as tonsilitis has intensified. the dr was unhappy with it resisting the penicilin. so now i am on daily pen injections for the next week!! at $50 a pop, i am not happy. also, i just dont feel that comfortable with the idea of so much toxin in my system. although today is seeing some improvement. just feeling dizzy though...
Leila on the other hand is (thankfully) doing great guns. she has a 'boyfriend' at kindy called Max, and they are just too cute playing together. he is a bit of bruiser and is almost double her size and yet is really gentle with her (meanwhile he bashes up the other kids! LOL!).
Awww, that is so sweet Clare. Maybe you should try some anti-oxidants and probiotics the help counteract the damage the abs are doing to you? I really hope it works for you though.
LOL at your sudden realisation. Yep, yakult is a good place to start. You can buy probiotics like Inner Health Plus, or you can just stick to the yoghurt. Jalna and Vaalia are others that have live culture. Drink some tea too and eat other foods that are natural antioxidants - purple and red fruit and vege.
there's a thread on baby brain ATM and man, i had too many moments...like getting in the car, driving for 10 minutes, stopping at a red light and realising that i had NO IDEA what i was doing or where i was going...egad.
hhmmm, yep we have the jalna in the fridge as well, so off to make a cuppa and chow down on some yoghurt.
Clare - not good with daily injections! you poor thing, hope it clears up soon.
Arte - definitely still 2 day sleeps here, but we were late to move up from 3 so I think it will still be a while. Gorgeous story about the jacket.
How many breastfeeds is everyone doing during the day? We are still doing 5 - those that are doing less, did you drop them or did bubs decide they didn't want them anymore?
I know Cally, i am very lucky! I think he feels guilty that i got sick again. Like he should have been helping more. I told him it wasn't that, but he's still helping like a man possesed. I'm not going to say anything else though! I'm doing 3-4 feeds. I just started spacing them out and don't always do the before dinner one as well as before bed. We just have boob before breakfast, boob before lunch, (sometimes boob before dinner), bath, boob then bed.
Clare- You poor thing, must be a nasty infection. Can you claim much of the $50 back? That's an expensive treatment. Get into that yoghurt! I feel so stupid some days. I wonder if i'll have a normal brain again. Although i have never driven anywhere and wondered where i was going. That gave me a giggle!
On the baby brain thing, I rang my work to get all the leave without pay and parental leave etc all sorted out and it had already been organised magically for me (woohoo!) and then I realised I have this really vague memory of ringing them a few weeks back. Turns out I rang them to organise it weeks ago and then Completely Forgot I had done it (and i"ve been worrying all this time). I'm still playing the word guessing game, like today we went into the shop and DD asked what we were there for and I said, "Um, you know, the thingy jing, the ummm, the Moo, ummm you know moo juice....MILK." DD was in stitches by this time at her mother who cannot remember how to say the word MILK. aaaah I will get my razor sharp intellect back, currently my IQ must be leaking out through my boobs!
Arte, I was going to ask the same thing as some days E has had a longer sleep in the middle of the day and then none later. I think it will be 2 sleeps for a little while yet with some 1 sleep days scattered throughout. She's sleeping so well at night, it seems to be breeding more sleep. BTW gorgeous story about W getting his jacket - too cute!
Ange good to hear you are getting some rest and that your DH is rising to the occasion!
Clare, I agree, run with the yoghurt and antioxidant foods. I swear by the Vaalia yoghurt, it's miracle stuff.
Cally, ideally we're doing 5 but in reality some days we skip a feed. We're starting to introduce a few snacks too.
Speaking of which I'm getting nervous about finger food again after we had a choking incident yesterday, involving an Arrowroot biscuit. She bit off a bit that was a bit too big and it must've got wedged near the back of her mouth. She managed to sort it out herself - got some out and swallowed some - but got really distressed (which tells me it was more than a normal gag) and I unclipped her and put her in the position and patted her JIC there was any left halfway in/out. It gave me a fright that's for sure. I've been a real nervous nellie with the finger foods and had only just started to relax a bit instead of hovering over her the entire time ready to hook the food out of her mouth if she put too much in there, but if i keep doing that she'll never learn how much is too much, kwim? She did it again later on by biting off too much banana. It's not good for the stress levels. I'm not sure if I should persevere with more 'challenging' food (like bikkies) or if I should just make sure it's all precut into appropriate mouthful sized pieces. Any advice/reassurance will be gracefully received.
weve finally had sippy cup success!! i got out one id bought a while ago that she wasnt able to use just to see lol (i have a wide variety lol) and she can use it!! yay no more me tipping water in her mouth when i think she might be thirsty!! now we can just have it around and she can drink as she pleases!! its one of those cheap "dinky" ones with a straw that i got from coles, really easy normal straw that u dnt have to bite first or do anything silly with!! happy that its cheap coz theres a fair bit of backwash involved and we need to buy a few hahaha...
md - how was the tooth fairy incident?? all fixed up now? hahahahaha mooo juice thats soooo funny! my brain is still like that some days i hate to think what it will be like after two bubbies!! with the finger foods ashas gone off them atm i think because of either teeth or flue.. generally we just give her whatever and if she chokes she gets it out herself.. if its like a dinner meal where there is lots of the thing then i make sure i cut it small coz she has a tendancy to shove heaps in lol but i will happily give her a whole cheesestick or biscuit.. if your worried i dont think it hurts to give her smaller pieces for now i mean she will learn it all eventually i am sure and u need your piece of mind!!
ange - oh i am soooo jelous!! u should see the stack of dishes at our house atm because dp normally does them and hes sick atm and wont do anything like a big sook lol!!
clare - lol @ forgetting where you were going!! congrats on the 11mths~!!
hi to everyone else gotta go asha is destroying the place!!
MD - I'd probably stick with giving little bits for now. I would break an arrowroot into 2 or 3 pieces before giving it to her. We've been lucky though, haven't had a choking incident yet (touch wood) although we do limit how much we put on the tray at a time as she would try and stuff a whole pear in her mouth if it was there!
Noni - yay for sippy cup success! Just in the last couple of weeks DD has worked out how to hold the cup herself, rather than me holding it up to her open mouth.
I was just wondering about feeds because I'm conscious that there is only 7 weeks before I go back to work and we have 3 feeds to cut out in that time. I'll just see what happens, give her another 3 or 4 weeks before cutting her down unless she does it herself. I think she would be fine without some (ie we have had days with only 3) but if she still wants it, it doesn't hurt - although there is a part of me that is kind of looking forward to only a couple of feeds a day!
Feeling kind of worried about the drive to Canberra tomorrow - 2.5 hours in the car. This is the first time I've done it myself since she has been forward facing. I used to always do it at nap time and she would just fall asleep in the capsule. She was pretty whingy last time with DH and I seemed to spend a lot of time turning around to check on her. Oh well, we will see what happens.
Cally - hope the drive goes ok, you are braver than me LOL!
MD - I do give N milk arrowroots and also grissini whole but i watch him like a hawk. lots of other things i break into smaller bit and put on his highchair tray and he feeds himself e.g. patties that i make, banana, avo etc etc. I am paranoid too so i watch everything - but i think you have to do what makes you feel most comfortable. sounds like a scary incident - we have had a few like that where N gags and then throws it all up.. not nice.
Arte - thanks for the advice re the bakes beans, gave him some this lunch time - about a 1/3 of a small small tin, no ill effects yet so i will give him a little more next time and see how we go.
OK should i be worried than N isnt crawling yet> i know you will all say no... but i am worried and DH is v worried. more bc he doesnt really get ontohis knees at all. DH was wondering if he is too heavy? i think it will all just happen but i must admit it is getting hard to see all these bubbas moving and N just sits there - eating LOL!
Umm what else - well we seem to have weaned. as you know i had cut down a lot and when i went away last week i noticed that i hardly needed to express.. sure enough through the week i was feeding morning and night but i noticed v little diff if i didnt... anyway decided to do bottle before bed, as he reacted well to it and still planned on feeding in night and morniong but one night was 'feeding' and i nitoced he was not swallowing on one side... and as it turns out that was my last bfeed... i feel sad about it but also ok as it is done and he is ok and i am ok... i am sad though when i write this and really think about it. it kinda wasnt planned and just happened... weird feeling. i always thought i would go to 12 mnths with at least some b feeds... but i guess this is life. one thing i do notice - N never used ot grab my chest etc, but now he has started. he misses it i guess - i have been compensating with lots and lots of cuddles. i am sure in a week or so he will be fine. anyway thats my news. to be honest i guess i dont know how i feel about it all.
My best friend has her twin boys on friday - so exciting. they are just at 35 wks but doing great. i will go see them soon (in syd)
N slept through last night, freakish.... has not done that since xmas time... i wonder if he will again. we were out on our 'date' thinking he must be giving the babysitter hell... got home and she had not heard from him and we didnt all night til 6.30am! love that!!!
Cally, good luck with the drive. W is a bad traveller, the 2 hour trip to mums has taken us over 4 hours a couple of times with all the stopping. Hope she sleeps all the way for you. With BF, we are doing 3-5 in a day depending on what we are doing and how many sleeps he has. I am hoping he will naturally cut down. Does K use sippy cups? You could offer her milk (formula, cow, rice) in a sippy cup before a BF during the day and see if she is will accept that?
Pregpan, You did really well to get this far b/f and working full time. And at least it was sort of N's choice in the end, it sounds like it just came to a natural finish. With the crawling, I would be worried but I think that is natural if it is your kid that is at the tail end of the group iykwim, it doesn't mean anything is wrong. They must start at a large range of ages to get the bell curve. Weren't you a late crawler? How old were you and DH when you crawled? Give a kids health line a call, I am sure they will reassure you that it is normal.
I have just been thinking about it and W didn't go on his knees until about a week before he started crawling. Have you tried encouraging him to reach for objects that are too far away for him to get from sitting? Hands and knees was the natural extention from sitting if he needed to reach something out of his grasp. Balls are quite good for that because they roll away and encourage them to move to get it again. W has a big net-ball sized ball made of rubber with little rubber nipple-looking things all over it. It is really good because he can grip it and it doesn't roll away as quickly as other balls. I am thinking maybe if you and DH sat just out of his reach and rolled it to each other (and him occasionally) he might try to move? The other thing W did was put his hands on a full packet of nappies and glide around on it. Maybe you could place N so his hands were on it and his knees on the ground and see if he will follow it when it moves?
Haha, Will just delivered DH's sock to me and left again lol
Noni, W has that cheapo sippy cup, it is the one we use the most lol. I can only give him water in that one though because it can leak a bit. I was giving him milk in the tommee tippee non-spill straw one, but it smells rank after a very short time so I haven't been giving it to him lately.
Ange, how did the accupunture go? I went a few times to try to get W to come out, but it didn't work (was only 38 weeks so I didn't expect much). Hope you are feeling better.
Clare, bummer about the pen injections. And so expensive! Cute about L's little boyfriend.
MD, I guess if E is going to inhale her food it is probably best to keep doing bite sized bits until she gets a bit of self control lol. The choking must have been scary.
Sleeping seems to be improving here, he is only waking 2-3 times a night which is quite reasonable. Unfortunately the dog still wakes me to go out at 2am!
