Sherie, I hope A's appetite improves and he's all better. E's still off her food and apparently off boobie tonight which is a bit of a worry!
Thanks for asking, I get to speak to DH most days which is nice but also a bit tricky depending on when he can ring. However the convos aren't often very deep as there is always someone else in the room at the same time at his end. He's having a really hard time because he's missing E so much, he feels really bad that he's missing 3 mths where she will grow and change so much. They have a bit of a chat to each other on the speaker phone every few days but TBH I think that just makes it harder for him.
Rainy, good luck, i hope the MCHN is worth her weight in gold! I haven't weighed E since we left QE2 either, feeling bad about it because her weight bottomed out and I really should follow up on it. Oh that fire sounds sooooo nice. My lecky blanket stopped working the other night and i was in full panic mode (how will I get thru the night in my vast cold empty bed LOL??) but then it was just the plug had come out a bit. Sorry the doggy is depressed. My Bosty loves the cold weather cos he's such an excellent lap warmer and his services are in demand. LOL Plus he gets to wear his very smart little coat ;).
Ange oh I am jealous of your snow! We'd been promised a freezing day with sleet and possibly snow but it was a complete lie. It was colder and wetter yesterday!! I turned out ok tho cos we made it out to the markets today (ethiopian for lunch, YUM) but stayed home in the warm all day yesterday.
-
Hello everyone! What are we chatting about today? Is anyones bub walking yet? DD holds onto the furniture and walks if she has a good reason to, but that's all so far :P Are our bubs all eating family foods now?
-
hey everyone :)
well big news here Asha slept through the whole night IN HER COT!!!!! i kept checking her because i thought something was wrong with her lol hoping this is a sign of things to come!! we actually introduced a pillow to her cot a few days ago because she is always laying on ours when we co sleep she makes her way up to the pillows and it seems shes much more comfy now.. i figured since her cot is litterally touching our bed it would be a good time to try using one...
mmmm what else i just gave asha a little corner of my peanut butter toast so will be watching her closely! is it true they usually have a reaction the second time they have it tho? so i will need to give it to her again to know?
we went to a fancy dress party on the sat.. have pics on my facebook of the 3 of us if your interested :)
ummmm what else lol i havnt been on in a few days so there must be more to chat about haha...
lol theres always that dps been saying for a few weeks hed like to have another baby and when i turned around and said ok i think id like to have another one now too he told me hed changed his mind!!! golly gosh menplay such head games!
apart from that everything is going well.. still waiting for asha to take some steps on her own, dont think its too far off now. that and i am trying to plan her party which is getting closer and closer and ive done well not much lol...
babysocks - theres a few bubs walking in the thread.. Asha is around the same stage your discribing she waslks along the furnature and sometimes can let go and stand alone but thats about it.. family foods.. Asha eats just about anything, she dosnt always have the same thing as we do for dinner tho just because she eats so much earlier than we do just depends.. shes still eating a fair bit of baby foods tho like the custards and she eats alot of puree fruit (i give her the goulburn valley ones)
md - hows e going is she back on her food and boobie now?
rain - hope the mchn is really good!!
sherie - glad A is fine :) hope the specialist lets you have chocolate again too!!
ange - i used to go skiining when i was younger now uve made me wanna go hahaha bit hard with an almost 11mth old lol! how pretty watching the snow falling.. its so cold here though i am glad its not snowing!
arte - hopee W has a nice long day sleep so u can have a nap!!
-
Hi babysocks, how is everything going with you and A? I have a walker, he is almost running now but gets the speed wobbles lol. He eats family meals with us all the time now, I sometimes give him a few extra finger foods but mostly he just has what we are having.
Rainy, I really hope the new MCHN has some good advice for you. Last night W slept from 8pm-8am with only wake ups at 10.30pm and 6am. If someone had told me that 3 weeks ago I would not have beleived it. I couldn't see an end to the 6ish wake ups every night and now they are the exception rather than the norm. I really hope Lewis starts sleeping better for you. One thing I have thought of that may or may not be helping is that for the past few weeks we have been giving him Weleda teething powder every night. Before I was only giving it to him when I thought he was teething. I missed a night a couple of nights ago and he woke up every hour again. Not sure if it is coincidence or not. The other thing I wanted to tell you is that we aren't alone. I was talking to some girls at W's music group and they have/had the exact same problem. They also fed to sleep and then ended up with the hourly wake ups. It is very common but no one talks about it.
MD, good to hear you still get to talk to DH even if it is with someone in the room. Our ex neighbour that came from South Africa was here for 2 months before his wife and daughter and missed her first birthday and first steps etc and was very upset about it. He had tears streaming down his face talking about them one day. I didn't know what to do lol
Trill, bummer about having to skip chocolate! Hope A is all better. Must be nice to have a bit of almost kid free time.
Pregpan, I saw in another thread there has been a bit of progress on the crawling front?
No snow here now, the past few days have been clear and lovely. We went for a picnic yesterday. It is still quite chilly but the sun is trying to shine. I feel spring coming. I am starting to regret teaching W about the jacket, now he keeps grabbing it and giving it to me so he can go outside and I feel like a massive meany when we don't go out.
W is adorable, he keeps standing in front of the toybox/washing basket and frantically throwing stuff over his shoulders until he finds something that catches his eye - it is like a cartoon lol
I forgot to tell you the other day, a lady from W's music group had a baby in the car last week lol. Her contractions started 1 minute apart and by the time they were 10 minutes down the road the baby was coming out!
-
good morning everyone
sherie glad that A is ok and also that your skin is getting better... i was telling DH some of Aand your other kid's antics last night, he was loving it - i was telling him how with each bubba we will get more relaxed etc etc and how much i learn from you and your attitude.
MD that must be hard for DH to miss out and to really feel it, these 3 months a lot happens too hey... how long has hebeen gone for now (1 month?) how does DD1 handle it all?
Rainy - soooo cute L crawling over to look at the snow. did you let him touch it at all?
Ange I am loving the olympics!
Babysocks - hi!!! There are a few babies in here walking, lots at the stage of your DD and all except N are crawling!!!! wrt foods - my N ets pretty mich everything now, just depends on textures but he tries it all... he does not eat the sae as us each day but thats more bc of timing than anything else - ie on weekend he does have the same bfast and lunch usually...
afm nothing too exciting really - have been in a bit of a mood all weekend, think the juggling is getting to me and the stress... so need a holiday... not long to go now! N is ok, the conjunc flared up again but seems to be under control and he had a bad night last night, i think maybe he is getting more teeth (tho i cant see anything). off to melbs tomorrow until sun - DH is looking after N wed-fri... (geez i cant wait for all his fam to tell me what a hero he is for that - sorry see themood i am in)
better go, heaps of work today
bbl
ETA Noni and Arte we were posting at same time. WOO HOO to both of you regarding the sleeps!!! Arte - yep we are making progress - he is moving arounda lot kind of rolling and wiggling along the floor - still a long way off though!!
-
MD - I know what you mean about changes in 3 months. That's how long my parents are away for and she wasn't even crawling when they left and she's almost walking now!
K fell over this morning and knocked her teeth. Blood all over her top and a fair bit on me too. Her gum was bleeding between her top front teeth. They don't look chipped or anything so I suppose I just leave it and see how she goes. I don't think there is anything a dentist or doctor could do. She fell asleep fine for her nap.
Arte - wow, W is really getting better at his sleep isn't he? That was a quick labour - the car wouldn't have even warmed up!
Baby socks - DD is eating most of the family foods, it's really just if we have something spicy or nutty that she doesn't eat it.
Pregpan - we gave your salmon balls another go yesterday and she loved them this time.
Noni - that is great that A slept in her cot all night.
Rainy - good luck at you MCHN appt today. Hope she has some good ideas.
Trill - glad that A is better and your skin as well.
-
Cally, Alister has done that a few times now and it worries us more than it does them. If the teeth look fine and can't be wobbled etc, then it's fine. It's hard to get a good look at it though when they hurt their mouth.
Pregpan, awww thanks hun :) It's been a long time since you've been away. You have to have another holiday so I can live vicariously through you again ;)
Arte, sounds like Will has really turned a corner with his sleep. LOL at him getting the speed wobbles.
Noni, *YAY* for Asha's great sleep! Peanut allergies may not present for months after the first exposure. When I had Lindsay he was having peanut butter sandwiches for lunch at 12mths and I didn't even think about it, but I *know* a lot more now kwim? She will probably be fine with it. Alister has had a pillow for months now and it made a difference to him too.
Hi Babysocks. Alister has been walking for nearly 6wks now. Alister's not eating a lot of family foods as we are still having issues with sleep from some foods, so we are just taking it slowly. I haven't had a fussy eater yet LOL so I'm not concerned at this point.
G, I haven't had A weighed by our MCHN in ages either! I hope the new one is better. I think I'll book Alister in when he's 12mths.
Marydean, Awww, poor DH. I can imagine how hard it must be for him :( I nearly hyperventilated when I read that your lekkie blanket wasn't working! I would die without mine ATM LOL - it is sooo cold here and when DH is on nights I put his side on too because it's too cold still otherwise.
AFM - The prodigal Brass Monkey has returned LMAO. I think we are having the coldest weather this year ATM. I have a heap of washing to do, but I can only do the essentials and put it in the dryer because it is just coming over with misty rain every now and then and nothing will dry.
I have to go to school assembly today too and the place they hold it is sooo cold in winter. I will have to really rug up LOL.
-
Cally, if the teeth are moving at all, take her in to see a dentist. Gosh their mouths bleed a lot, don't they, it always looks like so much more blood than anywhere else. Always a very spectacular injury LOL. I hope she's feeling ok when she wakes up, might be a bit puffy around the mouth?
BBL for personals everyone, just having a quick read when I'm supposed to be packing up the care parcel!
-
Cally - OUCH poor Katie!!! Glad she is sleeping ok, i reckonthey let you know if something really hurts.... must have been scary for you!
Sherie - we are off to Bali at the end of the month - i cant wait. it is only a week though, so i will prob unwind just in time to wind up again. am looking for where to go for xmas/ny this year - we need a good break. i am thinking maybe sth coast for a week and then melbourne for a week or so...
MD - what's going in the care pack?
-
Carepacks - usually contain: note/picture from DD and a card from moi, his favorite telly shows burnt to DVD (esp the motor racing!!), some snacks (usually savory, like popcorn, nuts, pastry twistie things), photos, and we also put in things that are related to what we're doing, eg when DD1 and I saw Shrek 3 last year we sent him a box of shrek Frootloops LOL! It was more of a big deal last year but this year he can go out to the shops and they have lots of Australian stuff there.
-
I tried putting my finger in to see if the teeth wobble but she wouldn't let me. I gave her a bit of cruskit after swimming and she crunched that off without any trouble.
Pregpan - if you want to go to the sth coast over Christmas you better book now - the good places book out very quickly.
Swimming was cold today - we had a substitute teacher and she didn't know how to turn the heater on for the pool. It was 28 (normally 32). Usually we hang around afterwards for freetime during the next lesson but we were all out before the next class got in!
-
hi ladies! it's been more than a month since i've been able to get on here and i will not even try to catch up reading. i have enough trouble trying to catch up after a couple of days.
progress notes on max....she's walking...not very steady but definitely walking and not just cruising. has weetbix with fruit for breakfast and whatever family meal for lunch and dinner. vegemite sandwiches are a hit. down to 3 bottles a day. sleep is still an issue. still no continuous sleep for us. and the past week or so, it's been "wake up for 1.5-2 hours" in the middle of the night type of wake up. don't really know what's wrong with that one. now has 4 teeth...2 top and 2 bottom.
cally, wouldn't have jumped in the pool without the heater on. brrrrr....
now i'm being reminded again why i haven't been on. she's standing by my leg and screaming to be picked up. before i started typing, she was happy to play by herself. gotta run.
hope everyone's doing good.
-
hello everyone
fianne- i was wondering where you had got to. welcome back, congrats on max walking. how fantastic! a lot of the girls in my mothers group are more advanced than the boys, is that very common? i'm not too sure!
cally- ouchies, hope she's ok! swimming sounds cold grrrr. it's so cold dowm here atm. we've decided to skip swimming for this term (lewis has been too sick to go anyway) and i'm kind of happy about that! looking forward to getting back to it in summer though.
md- ooohhh i want a care package! it reminds me of on the 'biggest loser' when they get their little box from home and everyone ends up bawling their eyes out, even me!!! dp laughs his head off at me. i hope your dh loves his package.
sherie- ikwym about the cold. it is absolutely freezing here. makes me not wanna do anything!
pregpan- yes dp let lewis touch the snow. he grabbed a big chunk and chucked it straight in his mouth. i was having images of in 'dumb and dumber' when that guy got his tongue stuck to the ice! ouch!
bali sounds nice :)
arte- your stories fill me with hope of sleep!!!
yes i didn't realise that feeding to sleep was going to become this much of an issue. i thought it was an eay and quick way to get them to sleep pain-free. i didn't realise it caused night wake-ups.
i saw that teeth powder in the local health food shop- i'll have to grab some next time i'm out that way.
noni- i'll have to jump on fb and check out your pics.
well, the mchn visit went very well. she is so much better than my old mchn. she is thorough and non judging and actually made helpful suggestions instead of just telling me about tizzie hall!
she has strongly suggested i give the koo wee rup sleep school a ring. apparantely they work on attachment theory and are very helpful in helping the baby learn to sleep longer periods- no cc required! i've called them and i'm waiting for someone to call me back for a chat.
apparantely there's about a 5 week wait, so it wouldn't hurt me to book in and see what happens over the enxt month and then make a decision iykwim?
mchn also advised me not to wean lewis. she thinks tandem feeding is great and would work much better in my situation. dp is getting sick of all the conflicting advice i keep coming home with, but i think i'm going to give tandem feeding a try. i just don't feel ready to wean yet.
now if only i can get him to sleep a bit longer, all my troubles will be over!!
-
Last care package I sent he'd asked me to put some sheets and pillowcases in (too hot for his sleeping bag) and I made this really embarrassing looking pillowcase with fabric that's got huge red lipstick kisses and army camo with red love hearts all over it (so he'll think of me last thing at night and first thing in the morning hehe). Anyway he loves it. Didn't bawl his eyes out tho .
Fianne, great to hear from you, how exciting that Max is walking! Funny how they instantly know when you're attention is somewhere else, isn't it. Hope you get some sleep soon.
Rainy, sooooo pleased to hear the mchn is helpful, the kooweerup sounds like a very good thing. Definitely book asap, they can often get you in sooner if you're prepared to drop everything and go in when they have a cancellation, so definitely mention that if you want to. I want a care package too! But i can't complain cos he managed to send me flowers last week and apparently there's a parcel coming (not holding my breath cos he's a terrible o/seas shopper, buys lots of cheap cr@p LOL)!
Cally, 28 degrees sounds horrible. E started to turn purple in the bath the other night and the ducky thermometer said 34!!
Pregpan, oooh a holiday sounds nice! It was this time last year that DH and I went away on our pre-babymoon, and I sure could do with a break. I should start planning something for when he comes home.
Arte, aw that's so sweet about your SAfrican friend! Nice when you hear how attached guys are to their families. I hope he's had plenty of catch up time since then. Elisabeth loves pulling things out of the washing basket too. Why buy toys? LOL
Noni, fantastic news about A sleeping in her cot - wow signs of progress or what!!
E's eating again today, I think she was just too tired yesterday, she woke up in the middle of the night and had a good feed then. She cried for the first time today when I left the FDC lady's house, but it didn't last long (it stopped by the time I got to the end of hte driveway LOL).
-
Hello Girls!!
ARRRGHH you have all been chatting like crazy in here today! i cannae keep up wit ya!
oohhh MD...how spesh! i would be pretty excited about getting a parcel (even cheap overseas cr@p!! LOL! i am pretty easy to please though!
i can only imagine how hard your DH is finding being away (and you too!!). they do go through loads of changes, but, on the upside, he has the whole of his life to watch E and H grow and become beautiful courageous women. this is just a tiny snapshot of a much bigger picture...easy for me to say though! i know that my DH finds even being away for 2-3 nights a week really tough...
Pregpan: i know you are probably busy busy busy while in melbourne, but anytime you wanna catch up (even for a quick coffee) let me know!!
ah bali....can only dream of such pleasures...
Rainy: oohh snow! and the sleep thingo sounds really cool. is it close by to you?
we kinda feed to sleep here too. luckily it's not too much of an issue, except of course when she is teething or unwell and refuses to go to sleep without a feed...i also didnt realise that it wasnt the best thing to do! but gosh darn it, it saved me in those first 4 months! no regrets LOL!
Ange: oh you had snow too!! i think it makes all that cold worth it! yesterday here in melb felt like a typical canberra winter day. freezing and not much fun at all!
Cally: oh wow! congrats on the walking! there are soo many in this group now...fianne, arte, sherie....amazing stuff. leila doesnt even look like she is trying to go for it!
ouchie on the teeth! hope that she isnt feeling too sore.
Noni: :dance::woot::cheer: for the sleep through!! ahh it makes you feel like a new woman doesnt it?!!
fianne: we too have recently started having one hour dance routines in the middle of the night. for leila it is directly related to teeth. this last week has been horrendous for us, then last night she slept 11 hours and bingo! this morning was the third tooth beaming out for all to see.
arte: i am completely technologically illiterate. what the?? so you plug in a wireless router into the telephone thingy and then what? is the computer attached to it? arrghh i wish i was more savvy! i need to get the know how so i look totally on top of it all when i go to the shops LOL!
Sherie: yay! that A is feeling ok! AND you are bouncing back!! have to say that getting better is soo good! i feel almost normal. my throat still hurts a bit and my rear is looking rather purple (sorry if TMI! LOL!), but hey, this girl is BACK!
anway, i have no doubt missed heaps of stuff...it's my talent....but i should go and check on Leila who has been sleeping soundly since we got back from swimming at 2pm....gotta love the swimming!
oh, and Leila has finally popped the 'horror' tooth (horror bc it really messed with her sleep this time round). so now we have a total of three!! she's such a big girl now and has told me that she'll be moving out next week....LOL!
-
Clare, *YAY* right back at you for you feeling better too! LOL at you being a techno gumby - If it can't just plug straight in to whatever Im using I get a bit cranky LOL.
G, You've stuck gold with the new MCHN by the sound of it! Definately book in and if you don't need it by then you can always cancel. I would keep going with the feeding if I could (unless he weans earlier) and then it will be easier if you make it to the birth of this bub and you are already feeding - remember all the troubles you had with your milk at the start? You wont have those issues this time round.
Marydean, Glad to hear that E is eating again now. How do you go sending food over to where ever DH is? I suppose if you declared it, it would be OK?
Hey Fianne!!!! How have you been hun? YAY for Max walking too!
Cally, I wouldn't have gotten in if it were me LOL. It's just not cricket to swim in winter I reckon.
Pregpan, oh SWEET! I am definately *coming* with you LMAO. Warm tropical Bali would be sooo nice right now.
-
yes i think you're definitely right sherie about tandem feeding. i think it's a goer!
well the good news: i'm into koo wee rup on the 3rd of sep. they only do one day stays though- no staying overnight. the lady on the phone was extremely helpful and understanding towards me. we spoke for over half an hour and their school sounds very gentle. she told me if i went from what i'd been doing to cc it would make him a million times worse so not to even bother. she told me they'd help me with some strategies to get him off the boob.
the bad news: i just tried for an hour and 1/4 to get lewis to sleep and have given up. he is now out playing with dp. it seems that he will only sleep with my nipple in his mouth....
i cooked a risotto for tea and i read the recipe wrong and i didn't put enough stock in and it tasted like crap, and i think i've ruined the pan and dp said it was like eating cornflakes with no milk....
-
Oh no! at the risotto G. Great news on getting so so quickly - that's only 3 weeks away. I really hope you can get some tips to help you.
OK, Alister has come out in a rash over his torso, so I guess the fever was Roseola. The fever didn't last as long as it usually does, but that's about the only thing it can be. His eating is fine again now, and he has a touch of diarreaha but all is well.
And the tooth fairy gets to visit here tonight LOL - Lindsay has lost another tooth!
-
this is soooo coool!!! 2 posts in 1 day after more than a month away! :)
max and dh are asleep and i promised myself a little bb time. so long as you guys don't become tooo chatty (impossible!!!) i may have a chance at keeping up.
g, assuming you're having problems with lewis' sleep as well? day or night or both? i don't think i've got max's sleep right yet either. happy to say no more middle of the night feeds but then, she still wakes and wakes us. usually screaming. so, i still haven't experienced a full night's sleep. we've bought a reverse cycle for her bedroom and she's going in there as soon as i get it installed. i'm hoping that moving her out of our room will help. if it doesn't, then will probably have to seek professional help. sorry to hear about the risotto. what's tandem feeding?
md, don't think dh would use the pillowcase if i sent that to him. :) i want a care package too!
cassius, wish i could have one of those 11 hours sleep this way. and problem solved with tooth showing up. unfortunately, it's all so erratic. i really don't know what sets it off. i wouldn't mind as much if i was prepared for it...like knowing it's because of a tooth and knowing the sleep will be better once the tooth pops out. have heard that swimming really works a treat on getting them sleeping. not game with this cold weather even with heated pools coz' it'll still be cold when you get out. ;)
ditto on the techie stuff. used to be pretty ok with it. but since there's a man in the house who can deal with things i've stopped learning how to do it.
who's on fb again? finally got myself set up...or at least dh set me up. really great "meeting" old friends again.
sherie, hope A's ok. don't really know anything about roseola so don't know how bothersome it can be. have been doing fine and just keeping busy out of trouble. going to playgroup on mon & tues and then have a catchup with a couple of mums and bubs every thursday (splinter group from the mother's group) and then sometimes make it to the normal mother's group on fridays. other than that, just usually home with her but not so much in front of the computer (partly because of dodgy connections at times).
hoping to be able to keep up....but will never know....
ETA: have just put up a few more recent photos of max
-
Hey everyone!
noni e - walking along while holding furnature is a sign of imminent walking! Could be any day now.
artechim - Aurelia's doing well! She's going to bed really late though, that's the only thing. Tonight she went down around 10pm. Last night she woke up in the middle of the night for a party and didn't go back down until the wee hours of the morn! That's so amazing about the lady's labour. I know someone who had a 10 minute labour with her son in the bath . . . and she didn't even know she was pregnant!
pregpan - hope you're feeling better today! Don't worry about bubs not crawling, some never crawl at all. My stepdad never crawled, his mother tells me, but he's whip smart.
Cally - I haven't introduced nuts to DDs diet either. I don't know when I should? I thought 2+ years but really i have no idea!
Trillian - WOW early walker!
My mum (i'm living with my folks atm) keeps leaving the cats bowls on the floor and Aurelia keeps eating the biscuits! It's driving me bananas! On a good note though, Aurelia has started standing up without grabbing onto something first. Seriously, she's gonna walk any day now i'm sure of it!
-
Babysocks, sounds like she is really close to walking! W didn't figure out standing without pulling up until he had already been walking for a few weeks.
Rainy, I am going to be asking you a million question after you have been to the sleep place. When L is having a nipple in mouth night, do you put your finger in to break the suction first or pull the nipple straight out? I find W wakes up sometimes if I just yank it out.
Clare, lol you plug a wireless router into the internet hole in the wall (I am assuming you have cable or adsl?). Then you set up your computer to recieve a wireless signal from the router so you can access your internet anywhere in the house wirelessly.
Fianne, good to see you back. Very cute pics! We go to playcenter from 9-12 tuesdays and thursdays and a music group on wednesday mornings for an hour, it fills in my week quite nicely.
-
hey everyone
well we had another all nighter in the cot last night!!! looks like we are turning a corner FINALLY!!!
arte - i really wanna do something like music group or playcentre with Asha i think she is bored.. with no caror anything tho that makes it hard..
babysocks - yeah i am just waiting for her to let go and walk somewhere lol shes still a bit wobly and scared to let go tho so not quite ready..
fianne - wtg two posts in one day! congrats on the walking too :)
sherie - what is roseola? hope A is ok!! how is he doing now?
rain - glad the mchn was so helpful! good you only have to wait a few weeks instead of 5 for the sleep school too :)
cassius - i think i will feel better when i get used to it.. atm i am waking up freaking out shes not ok lol coz i am not used to her sleeping for so long without stirring lol..
md - what a cute idea with the pillow case! shame he didnt cry tho (assuming that was ur aim?)
lol gotta go ashas been quiet for a while and i just glanced over and she is playing in a tub of nappy cream eeeeek its always dangerous when they are quiet!!
-
ahhh my sunday night sleep-through was all but a distant dream come 1am last night...woke to the serene tones of a psychotic baby doing her best impression of a kiss concert...took over an hour and in the end i gave up and gave her boob. feeling rather defeated. this is a new thing for us. have been too lucky in the past with a bub that slept fairly consistently from 6 weeks...
Arte: LOL! ahhh now i get it!! no doubt i will still have to write your post down before i head off to the shops...egad. i am shocking! LOL!
Fianne: i hear ya sista! i guess i am hoping feverishly more than 'knowing' that it is the teeth causing the sleep probs. she is good during the day and it is exhausting trying to implement a 'no-boob' settle at 1 in the morning IYKWIM? what do you do ATM to get her back to the land of snooze?
Noni: how awesome is that?!! IKWYM about not being able to relax! i was the same when L started sleeping through. i would stand at her door waiting to her rustle in the cot! LOL!
Babysocks: LOL! we too have issues with keeping Leila out of reach of the animal's food bowls...what is it with the biscuits that are sooo intriguing??
Rainy: oops on the risotto! and i was PMSL about your DH's comments!! i hope you told him that he can cook it next time! LOL!
anyway best be off, gotta get organised for Mum's group today.
-
morning everyone
clare- rissotto has been banned from our house. dp threw out the bag of arborio rice and told me i'm never allowed to attempt to cook it again. i can only have it when we go out to restaurants! which by the way, is never!!! ;)
iywym about trying to resettle without boob. it seriously takes hours around here.
sherie- bummer about roseola. lewis had that but luckily it didn't seem to hang around too long. hopefully it's the same for A.
arte- yes i will be taking my paper and pen and writing notes for you!! i'm really looking forward to it. yes i stick the finger in to get him off the boob but he's just so bloody smart about it these days. it's like he can sense the finger is coming and starts sucking like he's in a desert and just found the watering hole!

Hi Girls,
Well Friday night was wonderful. I really enjoyed my mumma time. I must say the hotel was really really great it even had a tv in the bathroom. DH took my to Tiffanys and Co on Sat but I didnt buy anything.. Well Girls I am 8 years married today. First year we had not even bought cards either.
Olivia is great and so Is Jordy. Xavier is going to have more grommets on the 26th Aug and these ones should last about 18mths I just hope this will be the last lot.
Better go and do some work
Hello to everyone and BBL for personals...
-
Leemar, I was wondering how your weekend went. I am very envious lol Happy anniversary
Hayley, where are you?
Noni, yay for sleeping, that is really fantastic that she slept for so long AND in the cot!
Rainy, IKWYM, these boys love their booby! Often when I manage to prise it out of W's mouth he quicky reaches over and grabs it with his hand before I can slip away and lays there fondling it! LOL at the risotto incident
Noni, I hope you can find some sort of group for Asha, it makes a huge difference to get out of the house. It stops W from getting bored and cranky and stops me from going insane lol
Seems we pushed our luck going out for a picnic on Sunday. The day was clear but it was quite cold (there was a small sprinkle of snow when we were setting up!) and now he seems to have a temperature. He spent all of playcenter clinging to me and sitting quietly on my lap which never happens. Now he has been asleep for 2.5 hours which is a day sleep record.
-
Arte - hope W doesn't get too sick
Leanne - happy anniversary! Glad you had a good weekend. Don't know how you weren't tempted at Tiffany though!
Oh, she's awake. Will try and BBL.
Rainy - great news on the day stay, fingers crossed it works out.
-
oohhh leanne your weekend sounds lovely. i want a tiffany engagement ring. come to think of it, i just want an enegagement ring!
cally- how's katie going????
arte- hope W is ok. yes L grabs mine too. one time he even reached over, grabbed it and started sucking it through my nightie! charming
i got some of that wedela powder, i'll give him some when he wakes up.
well i've made a decision today to stop doing my head in so much over the sleep issue. i'm just going to keep doing what i've been doing over the next 3 weeks until the sleep school. i just feel like the more changes i try to make and the more books i read the more it's stressing me out and i'm getting upset and anxious iykwim?
today i just got in the car and drove to my dad's place. he chucked lewis in the ergo and we walked around the shops (i even got him to spend $50 on new bonds clothes for lewis at big W ha ha) and lewis eventually slipped off to sleep. i didn't look at the clock, i didn't care. i just need to chill out a bit i think. i feel like this new pg has given me a deadline that i have to get L sorted by. i'm doing my own head in and driving dp crazy!!
btw, does anyone know where you can buy bonds babywear online? there's a green tshirt i've been looking everywhere for. tried big w, kmart, myer, zodee and tsl- no luck.
-
Just quick from me - hands too cold to type LOL.
G, there are very few places that sell Bonds online. I know of one site, but their range is very limited - google 'littlebruiser' and it will come up as the first one.
-
no luck there- thanks anyway sherie.
arte- when do i give the wedela? just before bed or what? how much do i give?
-
Rainy, I got to that accepting state a couple of months ago (after a brief meltdown) - there comes a point where you just get zen and accept that your babies sleep sucks but that it won't go on forever lol. I know the new baby must be making it seem like you need it sorted NOW but remember they are still little and another 6 months will make a world of difference. I am going to give you my personal guarantee that Lewis will be merrily sleeping though the night long before little miss arrives  I give about 1/2 a teaspoon of Weleda with about the same amount of water to him just before bed. It must taste o.k because he gets all excited when he sees it coming.
Bedtime, got to go feed him to sleep (just because I can't solve my own problem doesn't mean I can't give advice to others LMAO)

Hi ladies
Well S had an awful night last night. She was grizzling in bed every half hour or so. Didn't wake up completely but was so not settled. Even worse when shes in the same room as us so we hear every peep. She woke up properly at midnight and I went to settle her but she felt really warm, so checked her temp and saw 38.3. Was not happy with that, so stripped her down and tried to cool her down with a damp cloth. She wasn't happy with that at all but was definately preferable to dunking her in the tub. She has since been completely unsettled all day and has not gone down for a sleep in her cot at all. Has dozed a bit on me but not deeply. Took her to dr who just said shes fine, made just a bit of a virus but her gums are inflammed. I reckon it's her 12month molars as she is munching her dummy to the back of her mouth on both sides.
Fingers crossed for a better night. Dr prescribed panamax so will give that a try tonight. I'm just paranoid about stripping her down too much as I don't want to give her a chill either, hard to get the balance there right.
I'm knackered today tho, fingers crossed for a good night. poor little munchkin.
Oh, woohoo as well...got my Gymboree order today and I love it. Only got to open one thing so far but can't wait to do little dress ups once S feels better.
Hope everyones bubs has a great sleep and no sickness...give us Mummies a break please babies!!!!
Hopefully bbl when she falls asleep and stays asleep...although I might pass out as soon as she does

Hi girls!
just a quickie from me as i is tired tired tired!
G: we give Leila 1/3 of a teaspoon straight (just shove the teaspoon in her mouth) and she eats away at it (must taste good! LOL!) and then we follow it with a water chaser...i just give it to her when i can see she is grizzly with her gums.
Kate: feel for ya sista! those kind of nights really take it out of you. fingers-crossed for a better one tonight and that S gets better soon!
Leanne: woo hoo on a great weekend! so jealous of you right now!!
anyway, best be off...i think this is a world record shortest post for me!!

Aurelia nearly walked today, I think! She was standing up for ages and I tried to get her to come to me, but she fell forward lol. But she's totally got the standing thing down pat, now we just gotta get her to move those lil feet!
artechim, I think so too! I'm too excited. We've had a whole cluster of firsts lately.
noni e, you never know! Some kids just suddenly start out of nowhere. Aurelia started waving out of nowhere, and sticking her tongue out lol.
Cassius2, my stepdad rekons it's because they're really salty, though Aurelia also picks up the food she dropped at the dinner table up off the floor. We put a drop-sheet down and clean it after every meal so she can have seconds, then we empty what's left onto the lawn for the birds. So yeah, I think it's the salt plus they're small and fun to practice new fine-motor skills. I hope bubs sleeping gets better soon!
Leemar, congrats on the anniversary!
Rainforrest, sleep is such a drama! I agree that just doing what works is best since you're going to sleep school anyway. Why put all the effort and stress into something that you might end up changing around anyway? Just rest as much as possible, you don't want to be warn out before #2 comes along!
Kate, poor bubs! I hope those pesky teeth break through soon so you can sleep again. Are you using gel or teething rings?
-
Rainy - thanks for asking, K's teeth seem fine after her knock the other day. Last night she banged her chin on the coffee table and we had more blood from a cut lip and the night before we also had a bump on the forehead. She's been in the wars the last couple of days! And I say well done for even attempting the risotto with a little one underfoot, I haven't done since the night before she was born (and DH came home late and I cried....)
BS - I find K walks when she doesn't mean to - if she is chasing after the cat around the lounge she will take that extra step that if she thought about it she would drop down for. Or if she is absorbed in playing with something, I'll notice she is often just standing there, not leaning on something. We had lots of good little steps yesterday, I think we did 5 in a row at one stage!!!
Trillian - how is A going?
re cat biscuits, my little sister loved them, she had constant cat breath. We ended up feeding the cat on top of the deep freeze.
Kate - how was S last night? Any more temps?
-
Cally - Well, she was a little less grizzly but still woke with a temp at midnight. Only just stupidly realised that panamax is just a knock off to panadol so is the same as I've been giving her anyway. Why did the stupid dr prescribe panamax when I told him that I was already giving her nurofen and dymadon alternatively. And stupid me for not realising even when I brought some panamax tablets for myself IN THE SAME TRANSACTION!!! Argh...no sleep + whinging baby = stupid mummy.
babysocks - I give S some homopathic teething tablets as well as bonjella. Shes not a fan of the bonjella and usually turns her nose up at the teething rings but loves the rusks so she munches on those.
Sorry for being a bit selfish with this but I just hate seeing her sick and not being able to do much to calm her down or make her feel better. Plus DH acted hard done by when I asked him to rock S to sleep last night...even after I had spent an hour and a half trying to bring her temp down and calm her down. 'Ohh, but I'm sooo tired...!' WTF!!!And I'm not...
How was everyone elses night?
-
Whoops I am a bit behind, thought I'd better pop on and say I'm still alive hehe.
Things have been hectic around here, I have a full on week with appointments and dinners all over the joint. Also trying to finish an essay that is due next Monday ahh! Not to mention we are getting by on little sleep atm, Maddie has had a really bad cough now for 4 weeks and it isnt getting any better, in fact its getting worse so off to the doctor this morning. I actually think it is croup and I dont know if they can do anything for it? I might ask for antibiotics because its making her miserable at night and she isnt getting much sleep. She is still in bed now and its almost 9am which isnt like her. Not to mention the bl00dy outlaws stayed over on the weekend and dragged us all out to Kings Park for family pictures in the freezing cold, (which look revolting anyway because none of us wanted to be there) and since then Maddie's cough has worsened big time. God they do my head in. I wish we didnt have a spare bedroom, might have to bring plans for the second child forward a bit lol! Anyway enough outlaw whinging.
Seems we've had a few sick bubs and little adventurers this week!
Kate - Hope your little one gets well soon. I had the same problem with my DP last night, they dont seem to understand sometimes.
Hello to everyone else, bbl, gotta get M up for the doc.
-
MM, poor Maddie, hope she is feeling better soon
I think it is time to put some kid locks on the bathroom cabinet - yesterday I caught Will in there eating soap (not yummy lol) and this morning he was looking very pleased with himself walking down the hall shaking a box of tampons LMAO
ETA William said his very first word!!! It was 'duck' while playing in the bath. He has the Little People barn from toy library and has been snorting when he plays with the pig and saying Neigh when he plays with the horse but this is the first actual word. How exciting
-
Arte - well done on duck! I wouldn't be surprised if that was what K said soon. She loves her ducks.
Kate - hopefully S is feeling a bit better tonight and you can get some sleep.
MM - how did the doctor's appt go?
-
Okay so I've heard some people on hear talking about feeding to sleep and want to say THANK GOD! I thought I was the only one doing it and was sometimes embarrassed to admit it. I started off when S was born with good intentions of doing the whole feed play sleep thing but once she started solids her sleep started to go out the window and she would wake up through the night. So to save my sanity I would just pop the boob in and put her to sleep. We are still going strong with it and the only time she falls asleep without the boob is in the car or when she is exhausted. In which case, she only sleeps for about 30 mins before waking hungry.
I don't know what I'm going to do when she weans herself but god help me, I think I'm in for it. haha
Art - congrats on the first word!!! You must be so proud of him
MM - How did the appt go? Is she feeling better? and I hear you on the outlaws front, they seem to have their own way of thinking that sometimes doesn't include reality. Mine think that its okay to make as much noise as possible when S is asleep and then think that its all fun when she wakes up. I would suggest speaking up a bit...or maybe having a word to DH...?
K - S has had a couple of knocks as well. She had a beauty of a bump and bruise on her noggin from going ass up the other day and a few weeks back slipped and knocked her mouth on my shin. Blood everywhere and me panicking not sure what to do. Was a decent size split inside lip in front of teeth but didn't seem to bother her after 20 mins or so. Even had a nice fat lip from that one.
Hi to everyone else...hope we all have great sleep tonight :crossfingers:
