hi girls
pregpan- yah!!!! i'm so happy that n is on the go, that's awesome. i am making your ricotta pasta tonight, i'll let you know how it goes :)
noni- well done on g/f win. so does the ring mean you are engaged now? or were you already engaged? i'm confused!
arte- omg i have full on pg brain. i had something to say to you and i have completely forgotten and now i can't go back to the page before. how annoying.....mmm i might come back with it....
kate- congrats on S standing up. i checked out your christening dress, it's gorgeous. your sil sounds like a total PITA!!!
clare- glad you're enjoying the bb pg centre so much. i haven't been there yet, it's a fair drive for me. i'd love to go in for accupuncture or a massage.
well i've got my 12 week ultrasound tomorrow.
lewis has 4 teeth coming through at the bottom. his gums are all red and blistery. he's so sad
did anyone watch 60 minutes last night? very disturbing story about monkeys.
-
lol rain we were already engaged but the ring wasfrom dps mum originally (shes divorced now) because we couldntafford one so it was nice to finally get one thats a bit more personal.. oh and we only won the final haha grand final is next weekend!! oh my gosh 12wk u/s already!! its flying!!
-
Pregpan *YAY* for Noah's commando style! LOL You won't be able to keep up with him in a week or two!
Cally - I was in Big W today, as usual it was a pigsty in there but I got a few little bonds things. There was a cute little top and skirt in the catalogue but as usual they only had the skirt half (top missing - DER people!) but I found another that was quite sweet. Big W is always a mixed bag, some is total crappola, but some is brilliant. You just gotta sift a bit to find it. Glad your MIL is going to be able to enjoy the party with you.
Noni - wooohooo for the jewellery! Sounds noice! I'm thinking of dragging mine out and getting them resized, I feel like such an undevoted wife not wearing them. Congrats on winning too, well done! Sounds like a sweet victory.
Trill, the giant 1 cake sounds very do-able. I can't even remember what I did for DD1's first birthday...must've just been an ordinary cake??? I remember for her 2nd birthday I did a Bananas in PJs cake with 2 little B in PJ models and banana lollies and blue smarties LOL. Easy but looked fantastic. Will do that again next year I think.
Apologies to everyone else, haven't read all the posts, BBL maybe. xxx

Hello ladies, sorry I've been mia lately. Maddie's bronchiolitis is clearing up really well, thanks for asking, but I just discovered before that the antibiotics have given her thrush. Been giving her a hell of a lot of valia yoghurt to try and avoid this, but we are going to see the doc this Thurs for a check to see that her chest is clearing up so I'll mention it then. Hopefully it wont get any worse until then.
As for the essay I was working on last week.....what a friggen mission. It was such a hard essay to write, and I'd finally finished it, only to have found that I saved it in a temporary internet file, which self deletes every few days. So its GONE. I spent a whole day crying about it on Friday. Anyway I have taken it as a sign to defer for 6 months, as I had a 3000 word essay due while we are going to be o/seas. And I am not re writing the essay I lost yet. I'll face it next year lol. I must admit I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders, but at the same time I'm a bit sad because I really want to be a teacher but I feel like its going to take me forever.
Noni - Ohhh I'd kill for an engagement ring lol. Lucky you!
MD - Yes it does have the duck cake as you've already discovered. Sorry for the late reply. Also theres a group on facebook for the old womens weekly cake book with pictures and tips, you may find some info on it.
Arte - Lamo at neigh, aww what a cutie.
Ozstar - Well done on walking Logan!
Pregpan - YAY I am so excited that Noah is moving around, doesnt take long from here. You will be chasing him around the house soon. Have fun in Bali!!
Clare - So glad you are finding the BB groups handy, wish we had something like that here.
Rainy - YES I saw the monkey story on 60 mins. The poor monkeys, they belong in the wild, as for taking them from their mothers, how sad. :( All the best for your scan, time is flying. Sorry your MIL already knew, what a shame, thats your news to tell. You did well to make it through uni.
Hi to everyone else, I must catch up with you all this week now that uni is finished for me.
-
Is anyone watching the movie with Chris Tucker & Jackie Tan?! ITS SO FUNNY! Love it when Chris Tucker dances like michael jackson, he makes me laugh so much!
-
MIL ended up getting the whole weekend off - so stressing us all out for no reason! Anyway, at least she can come to both events now and not be rushed.
DD did heaps of walking last night. She seems to prefer to do it for DH than me though!
At the end of our feeds, she's been playing 'where's boobie'. Pulls my top across, I say it and then she pulls it back with a squeal. Very cute - until swimming yesterday when she was trying to pull my bikini top off!
MM - how frustrating losing that essay! You will get to be a teacher one day, enjoy the extra time you get to spend with Maddie.
Trill - I love the number 1 cake! Am thinking of doing that one this year (must go and buy book!)
MD - I like getting a few things from Big W as there isn't one here. If I buy too much KMart or Target, there will be someone else out and about in the same outfit!
Noni - ring sounds lovely. I haven't been wearing my engagement ring nearly as much this year but once I go back to work probably will. I know what you mean about putting jewellery away, I either wear it all the time or it sits in the box and hardly ever comes out.
Kate - gorgeous christening dress. And love the invites!
Arte - well done on Will and the spoon. I haven't been brave enough to try yet, don't want to be having to clean dinner off the curtains!
-
Good luck today Rainy with ultrasound, let us know how you go. I can live my dreams of a second baby thru you for now, must be so exciting. I can remember going for S 12 week scan. Hope L is feeling better with his teeth, why can't they just magically appear without pain overnight. And that thing on the monkeys on 60 mins was so sad, how could they take them away from their mums and remove their teeth and treat them like humans. I thought that they were only this inhumane to animals in countries where they didn't know better or understand. That was in the USA.
MadsMum - I hope all goes well at M's appt, hopefully it's all cleared up soon. I've read that having a vinegar bath helps thrush in women but I'm not sure about babies, so can't be any help to you there. I feel for you on that essay, nothing worse than getting thru it to find its gone, I would have been crying, screaming and threatening to throw the computer out the window if it was me. Giving yourself that extra 6 months will help with getting thru it, M will be older and a bit more independent so essay time etc will be a bit easier. You'll get there with teaching...you are already getting practical experience with Mad. ;)
Cally - I feel for you with the MIL, she could've worked it all out BEFORE stressing everyone else out. I just found out that my MIL is flying in for the day for S birthday party and expects DH to collect and drop her back at the airport (1 hour away). WTF! I may have to slip a train timetable to her for the trip home, it'll cut into DH's time with the birthday girl not to mention that we were going to have a dinner (leftovers really) that night to celebrate mine and my sisters birthdays. So no DH for me for that...will have to have a chat to that woman... ;)
I love Big W for bargains, got some great summery shorts and tops for S for $4 each the other day and while perusing everywhere else got a set of two Osh Kosh long bodysuits for $5. Was stoked with that...don't have anyone to give them to but they'll come in handy one day for someone. Too good a bargain to pass up. You definately need to spend a bit of time searching around so make sure bubs is in a good mood (or not with you) when you go. But worth it...love the clothes there. I've found that you see other bubs around wearing the same stuff so have taken to mixing sets up a bit to make her a bit more original. Also, got my gymboree stuff the other day so will get S into those soon to show off.
Anyway, gotta go and do something for the day...DH gets home and asks how my day has been and I tell him that Oprah was having a really bad hair day or that Dr Phil really ripped it up someone. Such is my life. I suppose I should be greatful that I can still watch primarily adult shows for now, don't know what I'm going to do once S starts ruling the remote.
-
Sorry for no personals everyone - I have Lindsay home from school with Croup today and need to take him to a Dr to get some more redipred. Poor kid, I thought he'd grown out of it when he didn't get it last year, but I guess not.
-
ooohh trill- hope l is ok, poor little man
kate- i am so disturbed by that monkey story, the bit where they darted the mum and stole the baby is haunting me. sometimes i really hate people...
md- totally agree that big w is a mixed bag. don't understand why thay can never have the full set of something- how hard can it be? i bought lewis an awesome grren and grey striped hoodie jacket/ vest and the matching grey pants but then they didn't have the matching green t shirt that goes underneath to make the full outfit. it's just so annoying.
hayley- big . the same thing happened to me about 10yrs ago and i was absolutely distraught. i went crazy at my whole family blaming everyone. there's no harm in difering, give yourself a chance to breathe!
cally- lol at k pulling your bikini top! glad it has all worked out with mil
12 week u/s went great. all looking good. saw its little arms and legs and feet. looks like its got lots of fluid on back of neck. due 25th feb..i think i'm ready to make a full on pregnancy announcement now!
oh and pp- dp loved the pasta :)
-
Great news G! So you're due a little bit earlier than you first thought then?
-
yeah. the ob only guessed from looking at the size of it on her u/s machine.
i thought i was due 26th feb, working on dates- so i think this one is more accurate.
-
Rainy - yay for U/S! Aaaaw I remember it so well, those little arms and leggies! Glad you've got a date, although, like usual, expect it to change a few times before the end! LOL
MM - glad M is feeling better. You can use canesten cream (outside) and nilstat oral drops (mouth) for the thrush before you see the dr, have a chat to the chemist for actual dosage. Though hopefully the yoghurt will go a long way towards sorting it out anyway.
My local Big W in Adel is fantastic, they *always* have everything and it's neat and tidy too. That's why I get so frustrated here. Last time they had their baby catalogue they didn't even put half the stuff out for the first part of the week. Happy with the bits I got yesterday though. :)
Kate I try not to talk about my daytime tv habits too much (it's my little not so secret secret). LOL at least when the olympics are on you have a valid reason for having the teev on during the day.
Trill I hope L makes a speedy recovery, sounds rotten. E is getting green walrus tusks but hasn't been too unhappy so I hope it passes quickly too.
Arte, E was using the spoon for a bit but she's more interesting in flicking it around the place (LOL she always looks surprised when the food has suddenly disappeared off the spoon LOL) so anyway spoon priveleges have been withdrawn.
Cally, you'll learn pretty quickly not to play the where's booby game LOL. It will come back to haunt you for months afterwards.
Oh dear I don't think I'll ever catch up on the thread anymore. Too hard being mummy AND daddy to everyone at once. Now DD has a 'father's breakfast' at school, she'll already be upset enough to have him away on father's day, now they have to rub it in her face at school as well. You'd think they'd be more sensitive to families in our situation.
Took E to get weighed again today, she stills fluffing around the 50th percentile, which is a worry since she was on the 75th for such a long time. Am thinking of booking in to see the dietician for some portion advice, she will keep eating until she refluxes so I never know how much is too much or if I'm underfeeding her. Also want some finger food reassurance too. It was such a non-issue with DD1! That'll teach me for thinking it was easy.
-
Poor Lindsay, hope he gets better soon Sherie. Whats croup exactly...is it a cough type thing?
Nice work on the u/s Rainy, did you get a piccie?
MD - I know what you mean about the weight thing. S is around the 50th percentile and is apparently doing well but I keep getting told that shes small for her age which is a little bit worrying. She eats well and has a good amount of chubb on her so don't know. Just going to keep an eye on her. Whats this about the finger food thing? Have I missed it in a prior post...?
Still trying to get S's party arranged. It's a bit hard with me up here and the party back in Brissie. Plus, seeing as we are having two I've got to keep them straight in my head. I'm now thinking that it wasn't such a good idea.... Luckily, both are pretty informal bbqs so if they go balls up then who cares...we just order pizza.
-
hi everyone
Rainy - YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY on the u/sound and the good OB appt! it must all feel so real now... is your next scan the 20 wk one?? did the OB have more advice re the tandem feeding etc and how to cope w being preg and having alittly?? I hope you are feeling good - you sound it! Glad DH liked the pasta (did you??) - I am making it tonight. YUMMO!
MD - i would have thought the 50th percentile was nothing to worry about. that reminds me i shld get N weighed and measured, it has been a LONG LONG time. i can see he has lost some weight but i hope this is normal. he isnt eating as much at the moment... ut i figure these things ebb and flow?? I need to get out and do some shopping for N too - i need to buysome summer stuff now so we can take it to Bali.
Sherie - poor L. has he always been prone to croup? does he feel awful? how is your psoriasis now?
MM - how is miss Maddie? it sounds like you made the right choice re uni for you and M - you will get there in the end.
I better get a move on with the party arrangements - have done nothing!! DH has another trip arund that time so we cant lock in a date... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
i am slightly stressed over what i am going to have to take to bali - as i am now flying myself (via a few days in melb) - i guess i have to take nappies etc? and maybe some food???
ok better go my work is calling - and i committed to myself that iw oujdl try to get N at 4.30 each dayu this week - have missed some mama time with him.
-
I would usually agree that 50th percentile is not anything to worry about, it's more that she crashed right off the 75th percentile and hasn't started to regain that. Added to that my general confusion about how much to feed her since she eats and eats and doesn't stop as long as you keep spooning it into her I just feel like I need a little bit of specific guidance, kwim?
Kate, re the finger food issues, E is a little piggy and stuffs too much food in at once. She then gags and we had a full-on choking incident where i had to get her out of the high chair and across my lap (!!!) So I'm stuck giving her teensy little mouthful sized pieces one at a time when really she could be holding the food feeding herself, kwim?
Pregpan, hmm, not sure about what to take to Bali? It sounds like Noah's pretty much eating family food so can you modify what ever you are having, with particular care to Bali-belly general precautions?? Or are you planning to take packaged food and just give him that? I'd be putting a thread up if I were you. I'm sure there's a BBer who travels to Bali to see family and there are bound to be others who've taken small children with them too.
-
i dont know if its coz theres so many of u ladies pregnant or if its the fact that ashas grown so fast or even maybe these sparkly rings on my finger but i want another baby!!!! i to and frow a bit on the subject but when i decide it is what i want i get really wrapped up in it and everything about it! right down to names lol..
just as i was typing that two older kids from across the street got brought home in a paddy wagon!! i am such a sticky beak!!
md - ashas the same she would eat for hours if you kept on spooning it into her. i always worry if i am over/under feeding her too!
pregpan - def start a thread on it i bed theres heaps of ppl that travel o/s with bubbies around to give u heaps of good advice!
rain - ohhhh congrats on the u/s the 12wk one is so special when it actually looks like a bubby!!
sherie - hope poor lindsay gets better asap!
kate - dnt worry my day is much the same.. though i have recently ditched dr phil for super nanny haha..
cally - glad it all worked out well with mil. shame about all the stress in the lead up tho!
mm - gladthe choice to defer lifted a weight off your shoulders. 6mths will fly by i bet youll be a teacher before you know it!
hope everyones having a lovely day!
-
Noni, well I guess you're lucky cos you're at the start of your family...LOL at paddy wagon coming up the street just as you're having that thought though, our gorgeous bubs grow up into teenagers and that brings all sorts of drama with it I'm sure!
MM - oh I meant to congratulate you on your choice to defer. I know better than anyone what a tough decision that is, but it will still be there for you next year. You have that goal of teaching burning bright in your heart, and trust me, 6/8/10 years go very fast once you're a mummy!
-
Another quickie from me. Lindsay isn't too bad now since he's had his first dose of redipred, but there is still tonight we have to get through. For those that don't know, croup is a viral infection of the airways, where they can narrow right down and make it hard for them to breathe. They also get a very distinctive cough, like a seal bark and they breathe with a stridor, which is a sound their breathing makes as it passes through the narrowed airway. It usually appears at night when the air is cold (cold air makes it more pronounced). It may or may not be accompanied with a fever (Lindsay has never gotten a fever with it, Erin on the other hand always gets a really high fever when she gets it - yeah, lucky me to have two kids that get it and I kid you know they have sometimes gotten it at the same time - imagine the fun that is!) he first got it at 10mth old and has had it every winter since except for last year, so I thought he'd grown out of it, but apparently he hasn't.
Kate, I read your birth story hun. I wanted to add too in here that even though it wasn't what you wanted, you are so lucky that they caught the abruption early or it could have been very bad. My sister had a baby girl in jan last year and she had a placental abruption and they didn't catch it in time until she started bleeding severely and they only just got her baby out in time - both my sister and her baby lost a lot of blood and she spent 8wks in the NICU and nearly died. She now has medically aquired cerebal palsy and at 19mths still cannot sit or crawl. She is very bright though. I'm not saying this to make you feel bad for feeling bad kwim? I just wanted to share my experience of it and that I understand. for you hun.
-
Hi girls!
well i have some time (finally!) to get on here and type!! today has been on the wrong side hellish with dear leila. the poor cherub is really off-colour. i am guessing it's a sore throat as she is refusing to eat anything other than really really pureed food or booby. i gave her some mashed banana and she shot me 'dagger' looks with her eyes and promptly burst into hysteria...why do they do this when DHs are away??!!
MM: ouch! sorry that you lost the essay. i feel for ya. have had that happen a couple of times, and it ALWAYS happens at the last minute. DH once lost his entire PhD. luckily he had a hard copy and had to manually type it all in again!
i can vouch for the time off. i took 12 months off. i figured that i was pg, and the stress from the horrid environment i was at at ANU wasnt worth it, so i took leave and then transferred. so just wanted to say that it can be done and you will get it done. :D
Sherie: maybe we should start our own baby buddies thread called 'the house of eternal coughs' LOL!! i'm telling ya, after only 3 nights of constant coughing from Ls room, i am going barmy from the lack of zzzzz's.
i hope that his croup clears up quickly.
Noni: ha ha ha!! i love the kids in the paddy wagon showing up just as you were daydreaming about bubbies! ahhhh, the sweet sweet future that may hold such surprises! going by leila's cheekiness ATM i think i should be concerned! LOL!
MD: easier said than done, but i wouldn't be too worried about the eating at this stage. the growing is really requiring so much from their little bodies and some kids (Leila included) just have ridiculously fast metabolisms.
Leila started at the 0% then went to 50% in about 3 weeks and hung around there up unitl 7 months, then dropped right off to 15%. went and got her checked out at the GP and he told me that she is perfectly within range. i was told by the MACH nurse here to feed as much as they want...and with leila that is pretty much constantly. i mean, she sometimes will eat just as much as i do!
Rainy: ooohhhhhh how exciting!! i hope the u/s photo has pride of place on the fridge!! i just love that first looksie!! i remember just not believing that she was really in there. DH was completely gobsmacked and silent (trust me, a miracle in itself!).
Pregpan: yeah can't help you too much on that one. i would def bring some nappies (just to make the transition easier in case you can't find them the day you arrive). and some jars of tucker. i agree with the others and start a thread....
Cally: glad that MIL got to take the time off. it saves on stress and guilt and all that! and like you said it means that there will be more quality time rather than just mad dashing...
anyway i had best cut this one off in case i lose it!
-
Thanks Sherie on the reassurance about S birth. It feels good to get it out finally. I'm thinking of contacting the hospital to get a copy of my notes. To try to get another prospective...
Best wishes for everyone having a sleep-filled night tonight.
-
Morning everyone
Kate -I also read your birth story and wanted to also send you hugs - it is a shame things didnt go the way you wanted during the birth, though of course gorgeous S is the outcome you always dreamed of. I hope you are able to get some closure to it through downloading here and also the hospy notes. I also wanted to say you are so brave going to the hospy all by yourself etc etc, you amazed me!!
Ok gotta go do some work - hope you are all well.
-
Clare - hope L is feeling a bit better today, poor little thing.
Rainy - glad the u/s went well. I couldn't stop looking at the picture the whole way home in the car, it wasn't real until then!
Pregpan - I know K loves the Rafferty's Garden lumpy stuff for emergencies and when we are in Canberra so that would be some easy food to take with you.
Trill - how was L overnight? Hope the medicine helped him.
K remembers that it's bath after dinner time - last night she was pointing away at the bathroom and didn't want to play with DH. She's done it a few times, but luckily seems to remember that she only has a bath every second night so we don't have battles on the other nights. Her day sleeps have been going really well lately too. Two sleeps, total of about 2.5 hours. Although I wouldn't mind if she knocked 30 minutes off that and slept for an extra bit in the mornings!
Oh, she's awake, better go.
-
Hi Hot Mumma's,
Just popped in to say DH had the snip yesterday so my baby producing days are over. DH is feeling really well and is in no pain. X's Grommets are now going in on the 2nd Sept which is better as its after Livvi's Birthday. Xavier has also had exezma last week but is now all gone thank god for the dr and his cream.. Then Olivia had this terrible rash in her fat creases omg it looked terrible so I took her off to the dr on monday and she has dermatitis so got some cream for her and now its heaps better. Jordy is great and so am I atm so thats good.
Clare- I hope L gets better soon
Sherie- Poor L
Rainy- Congrats on the u/sound.
Hello to everyone
Better go as I am at work with heaps to do...
will try and catch up tonight.
-
Welcome to the *club* Leanne LMAO. Glad to hear that he isn't suffering too badly for the cause. Poor Olivia, I hope it wasn't itchy for her. I see Alister scratch at his neck sometimes when his eczema is itchy. Im sure all will go well for X's grommets - and then I hope that's it for your lot this year LOL.
Cally, Alister runs (well, toddles as fast as his little legs will carry him) when I tell the other kids it's time for a bath. But he only has a bath every second night too and he gets a bit stroppy when he realises its not his bath night LOL. Poor little kid will stand there trying to pull his clothes off too.
No worries Kate. Defiantley get a copy of your notes - it might shed some light on things, especially if you couldn't really understand the Dr.
Clare, I think you're onto something, but you know what, it would still be the same old faces LMAO. I hope she has a better night tonight.
Well Lindsay is back at school, but still has a cough - not croupy though - and he slept through last night without waking up coughing. So he is on the mend now. He will probably just have a bit of a cough and snuffly nose for a while now like he always does afterwards.
-
Hi Girls!
just a quick selfish post as i need to vent to someone!
went to the local supermarket today with L to pick up a few things and on the way home i heard a really distressed dog. the noise was coming from the park, so i diverted my trip home to scan the park from the pathway and lo and behold there are two men there one holding the dog on a chain and the other with a big f*#k off stick and a pillow thing. basically the guy would smash the dog over the head and then make the dog attack the pillow. the poor thing was terrified, but unfortunately out of no choice of its own attacking. i am feeling really sick to my belly watching this. i have seen it before when i was growing up in gladstone and back there it meant only one thing: dog fighting. selfish, cruel human beings i saw today. and what can you do?? i scanned the rspca website but there doesnt appear to be much to go on cause they were in a park and there is no way for them to follow them up. i know they live local as there was no car around...i guess i'll just make sure that stella is locked inside when we go out for the next couple of months. and i'll be wary of going to the dog park...
sorry for the vent, i just can't stand seeing sh*t like that. i felt so powerless.
-
OMG Clare, that's awful! Maybe you could call the police and tell them what you saw?
-
yeah i thought about that. but i just don't know if what i could say would be of any use IYKWIM. it seemed to be so random. that said if i see them again...
but i'll have a think about it and chat to DH and see what he thinks when he gets home too...
-
Thanks everyone for your reassurance re defering uni. And yes I did scream, cry and bash the computer lol.
OMG Clare thats terrible!! You must have felt so helpless, and you cant exactly approach two men and a vicious dog to give them a piece of your mind. Call the cops and see what they say? How can they do that in public? Some people are just....ahh terrible. :( Poor dog. Losing a PHD, now that would be the worst!
Kate - I'll be off to read your birth story soon!
Trillian - Thats so sad for your sister. :( So glad they caught her in time though. I want to join the coughing group too lol. Glad that its not croup. Its hard to tell isnt it, I thought M's cough was croup too.
Leemar - Sorry to hear the baby making days are over, but you have 3 beautiful children you lucky thing. Hope Olivia is better soon.
Pregpan - I have the same dillema when going o/seas. I am taking nappies and a formula tin. As for food, I was hoping she'd eat what we eat. However I might take Cally's tip and take some of the raffertys for just in case. Watch for Bali belly and dont eat anyway dodgy looking.
Cally - K is so clever remembering bath time!
Rainy - YAY glad to hear the bub is healthy.
Anyone heard from Ange? Wonder how she is going?
MD - Thanks for what you wrote about deferring uni, it really is a hard choice. Hope all is well with you and your babies.
Kate - Dont stress about the birthday party, just take it as it comes. As you said, order a pizza if all fails lol.
Noni - I am the same with wanting another, but I am containing myself! I want a ring first! ;)
We finally went to swimming lessons today after a few weeks away. The teacher looked at us as if to say who the hell are you hehe. The thrush hasnt gotten any worse but isnt getting better either. At least I think its thrush, she is all red and irritated but no discharge really? Sorry if tmi. The cough WAS getting better, but the past couple of nights she has been coughing and congested again. Poor bub she has such a weak chest.
-
MM - poor Maddie!! I know what ypu mean, N seems to have a constant cough or cold these days - i have stopped worrying too much about it and just manage it as it happens... i guess this is life in winter!! how did she enjoy swimming? i have just found a class on sundays so i think i will be enrolling N when we get back from Bali.
Clare - how awful! glad you didnt approach them though.keep an eye out for them - how horrible!
I was also wondering how Ange was..
and also missing JazMum!
re bali - i have found a baby hire place there who will also provide nappies, wipes etc and some baby food. i think they do forumal too but not the one we use... so i will take that. N eats pretty much what we do so i think we will be ok. we are staying in a v luxe place so i think the kitchen there should be ok and then the 2nd half we have a villa so i can cook (and it has a chef so they will make what we want i guess)... i cant wait! will take some raffertys as well JIC but i think he will be fine food wise. the place i found does heinz jars etc so i can get that if i need to when we are there.
MM when are you going to thailand? i forgot when...
i am now nervous about the flight as dh will meet us there... i figure it isnt THAT long so we will survive. i am going to be in melb for a few days before so mum can come to the airport with me which will be helpful - we have to take SO MUCH stuff! gone are the fancy free baby free days...
i have decided to see a chinese dr/herbalist to get a regular cycle etc. i still dont have AF back and it took us 12 months to get preg last time so i want to get myself in tip top shape... hoping to get an appt next week. (exciting!)
-
Pregpan, good luck with the herbalist, I hope they can sort you out. Another though too re the trip, just check what their policy is on taking formula with you on the plane JIC kwim?
Hayley, Lindsay did have croup, but the croupy cough was gone today, replaced by a normal one LOL. I hope Maddies thrush clears up soon, poor little girl.

yep i will check re the formula though I will pack the big tin in N's suitcase so just alittle bit with me for 1 (or maybe 2 if i am desp) bottles in the plane... i think this should be ok? i cam get the water on board so no liquids. i will tale some food on with me too - but he wont need much - maybe a banana a couple of milk arrowroots for the testing times and a jar of something else in case..i am so excited - we need a holiday SO bad!
N is even more frustrated now he is on the move (a bit) - he just wants to run i can tell!!! it is like he wants to be picked up but then he wants to be on the ground... wants to move and cant as much as he wants... aaah he is ghetting there now...
he is going through such a gorgeous time at the moment, just doing cute stuff ALL THE TIME!

I had a look into formula and it is fine to take in your luggage. For the plane I am taking one of those dispensers with formula in it, but the bottles cannot have water. So as soon as you get on the plane have them fill your baby bottles with boiling water to give them time to cool down. Good idea with the milk arrowroots I will remember that one!
We are going to KL & Penang in about 3 and a half weeks time now. We so need a holiday too Pregpan! I've never been to Bali, would love to go. Good luck with the herbalist.
Trillian - Here I was thinking croup is only a baby thing. GREAT! lol.
-
Pregpan, it's a great age they are in ATM - they have so many 'lightbulb' moments when they realise how something works, or how to make it work and just life in general for them is a surprise everyday.
H, nope, not just a baby thing. Touch wood Erin hasn't had it this year as she always gets it very bad. They are supposed to grow out of it, but I would have thought that mine were done with it too.

Isn't it great how much they are all growing and learning at the moment? I think I am falling more in love with K now than I was before as I see this little personality develop and watch her exploring and learning. She is really on the move now - last night was the first time she let go of something and walked to me (usually I just stand her up and let go and she walks). She walked to DH weeks ago! She did it heaps last night and has been doing it this morning lots too. Am so pleased, we see my parents in less than 2 weeks after their big trip away and she wasn't even crawling when they left!
Pregpan - good luck with the herbalist next week. Hope it sorts out AF and fingers crossed it doesn't take you another 12 months!
Better go and entertain her!
-
Wow Cally, she will be walking full time very very soon. Once they realise they can do it and not fall over, they are off and racing LOL. You're parents will be so surprised! I bet they can't wait to see her again.
-
wow Cally that is so exciting - your parents are going to be shocked!! i am sure they have missed K a alot and their other granddaughter too.. they must be bursting to get home..
Sherie - hope L had an ok night... and no signs of croup for erin (is it contagious?)
AFM not much news... just ploughing through work for the last day this week (YAY!) and preparing for next week when DH is away from sat and i need to do home with N, then melba nd then bali... EEK!

Hi Girls!
Cally: awwww that is so true! you're making me all emotional! they are just a delight at this stage. and it is really fun and lovey gushy watching them grow and become their own people. i even love witnessing the stubborn tantrum moments! LOL! i am sure that will wear off in no time!
Pregpan: good luck with the herbalist! wow, one step closer to TTC! what an exciting time!
ooohh Bali! on a day like today, it is sooo needed! august in canberra is the pits!
Noni: i am so jealous! (not of the housework! LOL!). but is nice being able to do stuff without a bub underfoot. make sure you make time to watch super nanny and oprah though! LOL!
AFM: well DH is back! YAY! and of course Leila decided to be healthy bouncy and laughing! so i look like the big fat liar when i told him that she has been screaming for 3 days...oh well, just stoked that she seems to be getting better.
my girl is almost 1. i cannot believe it. in my mind she is still that tiny 2.7 kilo bundle that we brought home from the hospital. this time last year i was as big as a house...thinking that i still had 4 weeks before she would be born...hah!
-
Cally - Awww go K, clever girl! Your parents will be so pleased. I know what you mean about falling in love with her even more. Every new little thing Maddie does makes me all emotional lol.
Pregpan - She's on the mend, thanks for asking! How is Noah going with the crawling?
Clare - I know the time has flown. They grow way too fast dont they? :(
Noni - Just spent all morning cleaning here. I feel like I am forever cleaning!! Now that M is on the move I am picking up after her even more, she throws around cd's, books, dvds and the other day found a candle and rubbed it all over the tv cabinet. All you can do is laugh! I need a new vaccum cleaner too, desperately.
Maddie has taken to standing in her cot, saying mum mum mum when she has woken. It makes me melt!
-
MM that is soooo cute! N is getting better at the crawling though it is still v commando or more of a shuffle along and he does not go far! he will get there... and from all the work that a crawler entails i am now in no rush for it to happen LOL!
I made some potato and mince croquettes for him - they are quite delicious and going down v well with him - v basic... so here is the recipe if anyone wants it.
boil 4 potatoes and mash
mix in about 400g mince meat, some chopped parsley and an egg
roll into small balls and roll them in bread crumbs
pat onto a tray (flatten slightly ) covered in oilve oil and bake at 180 for about 30 mins, then turn and bake another about 10 mins til golden.
YUMMO - i ate a heap of them too!!!
you could prob mix other thinsg in like cheese (i dont eat cheese w meat so i didnt) or paprika or onion too...
