arte- i think lewis' first word will be something that rhymes with duck.
you're my best friend atm, thanks for your promise :)
the wedela didn't do too much for lewis, but i'm feeling so zen-like and i am relying on your guarantee of sleep before little miss comes along to get me through :) so i just don't even care anymore!
hayley- maddie must have caught that cough through the computer from lewis. he has had it for 6 weeks. it is the whole reason the sleep is so stuffed now. it is such a pain, and it takes ages to get better.
good luck with your assignment. is it on pedagogy or something stupid like that? aagg i hated teaching assignments- they taught me nothing about teaching. you learn when you're actually on the frontline, believe me!
kate- i am the queen of the feed to sleep. i'm thinking of buying a breastfeeding pillow that holds twins and just chucking one baby on each boob and sitting here for 6 months
cally- oohh poor katie. she sounds like she's having a rough time atm. i think she's gonna be one tough little cookie ;)
now i went to spotlight today to buy a toybox to put all lewis' crap in and i saw the cutest little girl in the queue and her mum kept caling out at her 'Maya, Maya' and i thought- 'omg!! i love that name!'
came home, told dp, he said it reminded him of mayo, and could he have some on his chicken please?
-
Well turns out M has bronchiolitis again! Just not so bad this time. I feel like a terrible mum because she has been coughing for weeks and I dismissed it thinking it would clear up soon enough. Actually maybe its more I feel like a paranoid mum running to the doctor every week lol. Anyway I have been trying to make myself feel better about it by telling myself that its only worsened in the last 5 days or so, which it has but still...mean mummy or what!? She's on antibiotics now. Just so sick of M being sick all the time, it really really sucks. I am so worried about whether or not she will be fine when we take off o/seas.
RF - Lol yes my DP often says the word that rhymes with duck, especially after being at work with the lads. He is constantly getting in trouble from me hehe. 6 weeks oh no maybe you should go to the doctor too? Poor Lewis thats a long time for having a cold. Maya is beautiful. My friend has a DD called Jamaya. Essay was on interpersonal skills, what a load of rubbish, I seriously dribbled on about nothing much lol. How am I going to get through 4 years of this, how did you do it!? Oh and I am hanging out for an engagement ring too lol.
Kate - We practically feed to sleep at night time too. Whoops. Oh well you do what you have to do. They will grow out of it soon enough. As for telling DP to have a word in his parents ears, no go, he wont do it, so its left up to me and I dont want to be seen as the horrible DIL.
Arte - LMAO at Will and the tampons, thats too funny. Congrats on the talking!
Leemar - So jealous of your hotel get away! Must have been fabulous.
-
MM - I've got to ask whether you WW's book has any duck cakes in it? Sorry to hear M is sick again, please don't blame yourself. I played that game after I found out E has the UTI but stopped playing when I realised it was only wearing me down. Next time I will know the signs to look out for.
RF - LOL @ word that rhymes with duck! I was sure before I was pg that if I had another girl she would be a Maia, but in the end it just didn't 'fit' the energy of the child. Do you say May-ah or My-ah?
Arte - whohoo for duck! Clever boy. How entertaining. I'm getting some sounds consistently from E but none of them are recognisable to anyone but me LOL. She says "Ello" all the time now, very sociably, LOL, and "deddy" whenever she sees one of her soft toys (which is weird cos we dont call any of them teddy) and "dohdoh" when she sees the dog/cat/picture of dog/cat.
Cally, E loves her duckies too and says duh-duh in the bath, which is a big inflatable yellow duck tub, which quacks when you press its beak! LOL We're having a bit of a ducky theme for her birthday party (bit unoriginal, I know).
ETA - I bought a back-up bunny today, as E is getting quite attached to the little on she holds when she is going to sleep. Not sure if I should start rotating other toys through so she doesn't fixate on one or if it's better to just let her have this one?
-
md- i'm no expert, but in the 'no cry sleep solution' she talks about them having one toy to hold (a lovey) and that's fine, as long as it's one that is easily replaced if it gets lost/broken. so your one sounds fine.
i would pronounce maya as may-a. it's off the list now though anyway. dp is soooo hard to please. he has totally dismissed my favourite name as being 'try-hard' and 'the worst name ever'...so i'm back to square one. i'm also not allowed to have a name that is a flower or a colour or sounds like it could belong to a dog.
hayley- idk how the hell i got through it. i did double- primary and secondary. it was so useless and irrelevant. i just loved teaching rounds when you actually got a real taste for it. we used to hate the way how at uni you used to have to write the most long, detailed, stupid lesson plans for everything! in 5 years of teaching, i never wrote a single lesson plan- just jotted down notes in my planner everyday. my uni course was a total waste of time- i think it's one of the reasons why so many first-year teachers drop out. they are completely ill-prepared from their degree. don't lose hope though! you'll be in the classroom soon and then it's your little world and you can do whatever you want.
now i forgot to tell you all yesterday that lewis is definitely on the front cover of the next spotlight catalogue. it should be in the sunday papers in the next couple of weeks. it's the fathers day one and he's on the front with a fake mum and dad (it's definitely not me and dp, the mum is blonde and skinny and tall lol)
-
hi ladies! so sorry....this will be a quick one.
i feel for all the mums with bubs sleeping....am with you there. can't wait to move her to her own room so i don't hear every wake up. but then, the monitor will be on so....who knows.
teething gel.....max doesn't like bonjela either. friend recommended sm33. apparently better and more likeable. have some but haven't tried it on max yet.
feed to sleep....we don't do that but then, we still rock to sleep....which i'm worrying about how to "wean" her off. we've started (just the other day) putting her in bed screaming at night and then she'll go to sleep (that'll be after about 10 mins of loud cries) but because she doesn't give sleepy signs during the day, i can't do that. will probalby try it soon though. she has a 30 min nap in her cot around 10am-12nn and then a longer one of 1-2 hours around 2-4pm...this is longer coz' i nurse her. am weaning her from the nursing but have been lying in bed with her. will see how she'll do with sleeping on her own in a few weeks. slowly getting there.
hmmm....guess not as short. :)
arte, congrats on first word. i think max's will be something like that too coz' she loves to go "ka ka"....this is from "talking" to the crows when we're on the deck. said "kak" the other day when i was showing her the clock.
leeann, happy anniversary.
oh, and max is into pointing to things she wants. (like her water bottle).....i'm really happy with this new "communication" with her....just worried that she might rely on pointing too much and not learn how to say the words coz' she gets what she wants from pointing. any views?
-
hey everyone just a quick one coz i am getting lunch ready..
how much do bubs eat now? i know i ask this all the time but asha really eats alot of food! sometimes more than myself or dp.. should i be worried about it? will a baby of her age over eat? for example yesterday for breakfast she had rockmellon a piece of toast and a cheese stick then morning tea she had a sweet bun because someone came to visit and brought them lunch she had spagetti oopsthen some of my noodles in the afternoon probably around 2 awroot biscuits and dinner she had chicken and vegie fingers (3) and peas and corn and then when we were having our dinner she was still trying to steal things from our plate.. do you think she is overeating? some days she will eat even more than this and she is still having 3 bottles.. what do you guys think shes quite a big girl and i am worried i am over feeding her?
-
hi noni! max has 1 weetbix with about 4 tsps of puree fruit for breakfast, about 3/4 of those big jars of baby food during lunch and dinner (that's approx. since it's usually home food rather than jar), maybe an inch or so of banana, couple of rice crackers or arrowroot bikkies, 2x200ml and 1x250 ml bottle a day. oh, there'd be some more snacking in between....like, if we were having steak or something, she'll have a strip or 2 to gnaw on....eat maybe 1 strip worth.
but then, another friend's bub who's prob 2weeks older eats a whole big jar at lunch/dinner and has almost half banana, other fruits, other finger foods like boiled/steamed vegies, and a whole lot more. he's more than 10K. bday on the 26th of sep....so 10 1/2 mos?
:)

Hey everyone!
Marydean, the original WW book does have a duck in it - really cute one too. But 'tis a doosy to make LOL - its a 3D one. I can scan it and email to you if you didn't have the book yourself. Re the comforter, I'm not keen on Alister developing any attachments as Paige still has her blankie and I reckon at this rate I'll be stitching the bloody thing into her wedding dress LMAO. But ever since sleeping with my nighty he has taken to carting it around the house and look out if you try to take it off him. So now I hide it so he can't find it.
Fianne, when she points to something, just keep saying what it is called like "here's your drink/toy/whatever" and use words with her all the time.
AFM. Alisters Big Thing now is to go outside. He will go and get one of his gumboots (they are so cute LOL - used to be Paiges but she was nearly 2yo when she wore them) and stand at the back door. I can see summer being a pain in the neck as our backdoor is open all the time, and the screen door comes open really easy and there isn't a latch on it as such. Me thinks I might have to invest in one though or otherwise he will be escaping all the time. He is all well again though.
G that's great news about L being on the front cover. Will it be national or just VIC? I will have to go to spotlight when I am in wagga next and grab one.
-
hi ladies! does anyone have any suggestion on having nappy free time now that max is mobile without leaving having a mess?
-
hi ladies! does anyone have any suggestion on having nappy free time now that max is mobile without leaving having a mess?
max has got this extremely bad nappy rash (again). the pain she's in just breaks my heart everytime i change her. makes me want to cry. i want to take her pain.
trillian, A sounds so cute. must be so good for the kids to have a big backyard to play in.
btw, on risotto, have you ladies tried baked risotto? really quite good and no standing in front of the stove for half an hour or so stirring continuously. it's just rice and stock in ovenproof dish covered tightly with al foil. pop it in the oven. take it out, add stuff (recipe i was using had prawns). pop it back in. take it out and add the "other stuff" (artichokes, parmesan cheese, butter, lemon zest). and voila! got it from donna hay magazine. if anyone wants the actual measurements (ingredients) and stuff, let me know and i'll send it on.
oops! sorry for double post. don't know how to delete. ;(
-
i am soooo tired!! asha is still sleeping through but its been so cold lately i cantget her to go down in her cot.. not sure if thats why i am tired or not she only slept through two nights in her cot anyway.. its probably just iron or something... supposed to be going to a friends house today for a "mothers meeting" lol just myself my friend and her sister and their kids i know i should go coz asha really likes being around other kids but i am just so tired and lazy lately idk if i can be bothered lol..
fianne - have u got a place outside you could put max for nappy free time? apart from that i just try and keep asha off the rug and on the wooden floor part so its easier to clean lol. maybe its the birthday lol asha was born on the 26th as well lol and just eats and eats and eats lol..
sherie - thats so cute little A with the gumboots Asha really loves going outside too and will be escaping as soon as she can open the door!
-
Noni, that sucks that you are so tired. Maybe it is worth a trip to the doc to get your iron checked?
Fianne, hope you can get the nappy rash sorted quickly, sounds painful. I don't have any advice for nappy free time - Will climbed into his ball pit and had a wee the other day lol
Sherie, W keeps bringing me his jacket with a hopeful look and then stands by the door. I feel so mean when he can't go out. It is meant to snow again this weekend. I have been letting him play on the deck but soon he will figure out the steps.
MD, sounds like E is on the verge of saying heaps of things! So exciting
Rainy, what was your 'try hard' name? I guess Ruby, Scarlett, Lily, Rose, basically all the pretty names are out lol. Jodie is a lovely name :p Does your DP come up with anything or just shoot down what you suggest? I will be triple checking any future names after my Willy Rod **** near miss lol
Ange, how is the morning sickness going? I hope it is easing for you.
Cally, how is K's bump? Hope she hasn't had any more accidents
Kate, heaps of people feed to sleep but no one talks about it when they are this big lol
We saw some sheep and lambs in a paddock yesterday, there was a little hand reared lamb that came to the fence saying Baaa, W was pointing at them all saying 'Neiiighh' lol, I think he is a bit confused
-
Arte - lol at 'neigghhh'
The week of accidents has continued - yesterday she pulled the tray from her highchair (it was hanging on hooks at the back) and it landed on her toe. The nail went all purple, but later in the day she must have knocked it because there was blood all over her sock, but her toe was back to normal. So we've had 3 lots of blood in 4 days, whereas previously I don't think we had any!
MD - my mum made the duck from WW many years ago. It had chips for its beak and popcorn for the feathers. I must go and get the current cookbook and work out what we are making. Our bday invites went out yesterday and they have a duck on them.
Fianne - I haven't been brave enough to do nappy free time in this weather, let alone the fact she can wander all over the carpet (which was cleaned 3 weeks ago). At least in summer we can put them outside and let them go crazy! (with a bit of sunscreen on)
SupaB - finally have caught up on McLeods so saw you yesterday. It must have been weird seeing yourself pregnant again after all this time!
Pregpan - how's it going at your place?
Rainy and MM - I think DH tends to write his lesson plans down at the end of the lesson once he knows what they discussed!
MD - we have the one giraffe toy that is for bedtime, but there are 3 of them (one for Canberra). I know KMart still has them so I am tempted to get another one for childcare. I just got the same little cheap thing so I could get plenty (she has some lovely other animals but they are all a bit 'good' to be chucked through the wash regularly).
Noni - hopefully you can catch up on some sleep over the weekend.
Have had a lot of early starts this week - she is waking about 5:45, I feed her then she sleeps for another 45mins - 1.5 hours. On the upside she is waking up in a good mood more often, but on the downside I am feeling pretty tired. And I thought it would be easier when she slept all night!
Off to get the groceries today. Am going to make homemade hamburgers for dinner tonight with wedges. Yum.
-
Why is it when you have nothing to do around the house and want to go out, they sleep for ages yet when you're busy they only do 30mins!! She's been down for 1.5 hours now and I'm bored!!!!
-
LOL cally! same here. she normally only has 30 mins for her morning nap but it's already been more than an hour!!! whoooppeeee!!! should take advantage and start cooking but then, i've gotta run to the shop for bay leaves....can't leave her alone. :(
oops! she's awake!
-
Hi everyone
thought I should jump on and say hello. Way to much to catch up on again.
Logan is walking now, so keeping me on my toes. We have had a shocking week sleep wise but I am hoping it is just a big developmental stage (especially with the walking) or teeth. He has had a cold over the last two weeks too so thats could be it, who knows lol. I cant wait for the day when he can tell me whats wrong.
I had better run Logan has just woken up and we are off to do some more painting.
I hope your all doing well.
-
Yay Katie, another walker!!
Those that have walkers - how long was it from those first couple of steps by themselves to when they were doing it regularly? K has been taking steps by herself for 2 weeks, but needs a lot of encouragement to do it (or be absorbed in what she's doing and not realise she has let go). Just wondering when she will start doing it more often?
Fianne - she woke the moment I pressed the 'submit reply' button lol!
-
Hi Spunky Mumma's
Well its only 16more sleeps till Olivia's 1st Birthday....OMG my baby will be 1.... She has 3 teeth now but the others are really really close. not walking yet but it wont to long I dont think. She can now say Grandad, ganny( for granny), ta, hello, dadda, mum and yay ya (thats Xavier) I think she knows that name cause I am yelling it all the time. lol. She really is growing up fast.
The boys are good well that is as good as a 3 year old can be...lol.... (definatly not terrible 2's girls its terrible 3's) DH gets the snip on tuesday 19th and Xavier gets his next lot of grommets on the 26th.
Gee today has gone so quick I have to go and get the kids from daycare.
Sorry for no personals but I promise to catch up later.
Hello to everyone...:hello:
-
Hi Girls!!
it's been an age since i have posted!! or at least feels like it! i have been leading a rather mundane existence this past week and couldn't bear boring you all with the details! LOL!
i mean seriously, the highlight (or lowlight in Leila's opinion) was her biting her tongue for the first time. she totally cracked it. i have to say that i saw it coming...she was standing holding onto the jungle gym at kindy with her tongue hanging out (her usual mode) and fell down...oh the tears (and blood!!). pretty gross.
other than that nada! had a haircut...first in over a year...ummm yup. that does it!
Leanne: OMG that birthday is getting close!! i just attempted to bake a cake to practise for the BIG day and OMG it was ROTTEN!! didnt rise and didnt cook. made DH eat a piece though and now we are feeling really gross and yuk...might have to store buy it!!
Noni: sorry that you're so tired. it sucks butt! i have been finding myself getting really zonked when DH is away for those 2 days a week. i can't imagine how the girls on here cope with DHs away for long periods of time!
yeah i second Arte, get the iron checked out. after i had glandular fever when i was 18 i was really tired for about a year, went to doc got a blood test and turns out that my red blood cells are half the size they should be and can't carry enough oxygen to bind the iron. so have been on supplements ever since...ITH.
Oz: oh wowsers! all these walkers! i bet they must go ssooo fast!!
Cally: we too have an early riser. to stem the tiredness flow though we bring her into our bed where it is still a bit dark and she has a feed and quite time with mum and dad. for the most part she stays with us say 20-30 mins then we put her back to bed for say another hour or so. i find that when she is in with us i dont get so tired as when i get fully up to feed her IYKWIM? but yeah, wishing she could stretch it out a little bit!! ahh what i wouldn't give for a 7 to 7 sleeper!!
Arte: up until i was about 2.5 i thought horses were sheep! so i understand dear W!!
Fianne: we dont do much nappy free time ATM mostly due to the cold and yeah, the mobility issues!! so cannae be of assistance i'm afraid!
Sherie: oohh i have this feeling that L and A would get on a scream together! the cute cheekiness factor is blaring!! love the 'outside' stint! ATM leila's game du jour is the push trolley. she just laughs and laughs then hits the wall with the trolley and falls to the floor in anguish because she hasn't learnt how to turn it, then, the moment you turn it around (or at least partly, she off laughing hysterically again - with the tongue hanging out of course!).
anyway, i guess i had best be off DH has started camping beside me reading his book so i know that i have been awhile....chat soon!
xx
-
hello everyone, just sitting here drinking a hot chocolate and watching 'so you think you can dance' and thought i'd pop on for an update.
katie- wow!!! on the walker
hayley- how's maddie's bronchitis? is she doing better? oh and btw, you are not the worst mum in the world, you are awesome
sherie- i think catalogue should be nationwide. they usually pop it in the sunday newspaper if you get that or i think last time it was online too. jaz found it first last time!
arte- the 'try hard, worst name ever' is scarlett. he refuses to name the baby after a coulour or flower. he also refused to give our dog a person's name. pity he is not the idiot at the park everyday who has to call out 'spooky'....that would be me.
well quick update....last night dp rang his mother in sydney to tell her we are pg and she already knew! she acted like she didn't but it was sooooo obvious. it was the fakest reaction ever and she didn't even stop the conversation to tell dp's dad. it was clear they both already knew. quite disappointing actually.
the only people we had told from their end was dp's brother and his gf. not happy.
i think we have a 90% definite girl's name :) i'm pretty happy with it. it's quite common but i don't know anyone personally with the name. i'm going to keep a lid on it so you all get a bit of a surprise next year, but i think it's a keeper. dp actually likes it! shock, horror!!!
-
Trill, thanks I'd love to see the cake page. Not sure if I'm fully up to attempting it but I can have a look and decide then. Re your screen door, you could just get a baby gate and set it in the door frame - then the screen can bang all it likes and he won't be able to get out unless you open the gate.
Noni, I was wondering the same thing, Elisabeth eats a lot more than Asha by the sounds of it, but you've got to remember they are little growing bodies. If you're worried, maybe have a chat to your MCHN and get her weighed and length measured on a regular basis. TBH I think she looks fine in your photos and I'm sure the MCHN will say the same thing.
Rainy, LOL @ Spooky! However I shouldn't really because Boston gets called "Fluffy" a lot (short for Fluffychops of course) and really that aint a respectable dawg name at all! Glad you've found your girl's name, I'm waiting in a state of suspense already. (PS mouth is drooling at the thought of hot choc).
Fianne, have you tried canesten and sigmacort cream together on the nappy rash? If it still persists after using them for a few days, it's worth taking her to the drs. I think it was Noni who was having nappy rash troubles and it turned out it needed a script (was it Antibiotics, Noni?)
Clare, *snap* on the walker angst when it hits that wall! Elisabeth hoots around at full speed but gets nearly hysterical when the darn thing stops because it's pushed up against something. Then, after a few laps of the family room, she starts anticipating the pain of it stopping, and starts crying a foot or two BEFORE she even hits the wall. PMSL! We're going to try to capture some of this classic action on the camcorder this weekend.
Well maybe I haven't been talking to Elisabeth quite enough after reading the 'how much is your baby talking' thread?! I can't remember DD1 having too many words at the same age, though...
Katie, hope the sleeping was just shortlived and you're about to get a week of blissful slumber to compensate! I'm not sure you really ARE looking forward to the day when L can tell you what's wrong, they go through a very long stage of insisting only one particular thing (staying on the swing, having a biscuit, not going to bed etc) is what can fix it (toddlerhood LOL).
-
See this is why I really should post every day. Otherwise they turn into mega posts.
Cally - Wow at WW duck cake with chips AND popcorn! My mind has boggled and I find myself unable to picture it LOL. I KWYM about accident prone, E is sporting a lovely bruise on one cheek and a big scratch on the other. No significant blood to this point though.
Arte, that's hilarious how Will was using Neigh for the Baalamb! They do that, when they're first talking, they pick the word they have that's closest (in their head) to the thing they're talking about. That's why both Puss and Boston are Doh-dohs at our house. When you think about it, he was pretty close, they both have four legs, are big and live in a paddock eating grass.
Noni, I agree with everyone else, maybe it's iron or it could even be thyroid. I reckon you should have a chat to your lovely GP about it. You want to be firing on all cylinders when A's birthday rolls around!
Fianne, when she points, model the word for her, "You want your bottle? Have a drink of water from your bottle" etc. And lots of praise and attention when she does say a word. It's only a worry when they are (much) bigger and still pointing and grunting. Usually though they learn that the correct word is more efficient than pointing. Right now pointing is a good tool for getting mummy to say the word so I can learn what it means!!
Ahh, too late for me, better get myself to bed! Have a lovely weekend everyone. xxx
-
MD - I know what you mean about the talking. We have had 'mum' and 'dad', but even when DH gets home, its more an excited squeal (and point) when she sees him than a big 'dad'. There is definitely a lot of different noises and expression in her voice though. Will just continue with the lots of talking and see how we go.
re accidents - another one last night that I couldn't help myself laughing at. She overbalanced and went to sit down, but landed on her ball, so then rebounded into the filing cabinet. Lots of tears, a bit more blood, but gosh it was funny.
K used to walk around the walker when it hit a wall and then push it backwards to the next wall, then she would be right again. Must say it looked hard to do it that way, her body was really bent over.
Rainy - yay for the girls name! Shame that dp's brother blabbed your big news though.
Time for a shower.
-
hey everyone.. quiet in here today, hope everyone is having a lovely weekend :)
ive got netball finals today lol thats right we are in the finals i am just as surprised trust me!! if we win this week we go to the grandfinals but i doubt it lol...
anyways ive gotta go and get ready.. hope all the bubbas are doing well :)
-
Marydean I have sent it to you hun. It's really not that *hard* but one that you would need no interuptions for - so one for when the girls go to bed.
Hi to everyone. Sorry for no personals. Pretty zapped today after having a crap night (just me not being able to sleep from itching)
-
OMG we dropped off the first page of threads for the first time ever LOL.
I decided to give Alister some dinner last night as we were eating dinner, and guess what? NO WAKE UPS! Well we had one, but he was freezing cold the poor little fella and he went right back to sleep once I covered him up. So I'm very excited that he wasn't up with belly pains at all. I can start giving him three meals again now.
-
That's great Trillian.
Noni - how did you go in the netball?
Any tips on where to get a nice outfit for a christening on the internet?
-
MIL just rang - she is rostered on for K's b'day and christening (am planning on doing them the Sat and Sun as all my family will be down from Canberra). She wants us to try and move the christening to the Sat so she can come to both, otherwise she will only come to the christening and just pop in after work on the Saturday.
Annoying. I don't want to have to try and fit both in on one day, but I'm also annoyed that DD won't have her Nan there for her first birthday party.
-
Cally - ask her to take a sicky or swap shifts. Its not up to you to have to change things around for people. We had a big family upset over this one because we had Sarahs christening as a joint with my sisters son on mothers day this year. Not specifically planned that way but was the closest day available that my sis, bro-in-law, DH and myself could do. We had so many people tell us that it didn't suit them so we said fine don't come. In the end if they really wanted to be there then they would find a way. It was at 11am so the service missed the whole breakfast in bed thing if people did that, and they could still make lunch or dinner. But no, my brother, his wife and daughter ended up coming to the service (sulked throughout about S dress but thats another story) then bailed afterwards because they just HAD to attend lunch for her mum. They had so much pre warning of the christening because we had a lot of family having to come from a distance but nope guess what was more important. Oh and did I tell you that my bro was a godparent. but oops a little off track now. Sorry Cally...just wanted to tell you to stick strong and do what you want to do for the christening and party. Although, I do understand about wanting to have Nan there for Ks party.
As for the outfit...try ebay perhaps. I know gymboree has some but thats a US site (which I'm slightly addicted to now). Otherwise, you could always try some of the wedding dress hire places to see if they have anything suitable...like perhaps a flower girl outfit?
Sherie - nice work on A's dinner. Perhaps just watch what he eats at night to reduce any possible aches. Like nothing too strong/rich maybe. That sounds silly...of course, you'll watch what he eats but KWIM? Hope the itching gets itched and scratched away for good for you
Noni - How was netball? Buggered maybe...? I would be...no energy for much except for BB and sleep sometimes.
Anyhoo, lil miss is awake so am off to entertain...
Oh and Sarah has a cupcake theme for her 1st birthday this year. Gonna make a giant cupcake cake for her as well as mini cupcakes, will post a copy of the invite on her website. Can't wait...not long now until shes 1. Holy *****, where has the time gone. This time last year I was sitting (probably on BB) rubbing my belly and waiting to meet her. Time flies... :D
-
cally- tell her to take a day off for it. it's way too much to fit in one day. K won't enjoy it as she'll be too tired...ggrrr mil!!! can you tell i have major mil issues??
my friend got a gorgeous christening outfit from myer.
reminds me- my mil has told everyone she knows that i'm pg. she couldn't hold out until the 12week u/s just to make sure everything is ok, could she? she is the most thoughtless and rude woman i've ever met...
where are you all this weekend??? is pregpan away or something???
are you all having a big party somewhere and i'm not invited????? ;)
sherie- nice work on A's one wakeup, oh what i wouldn't give!!!
noni- how did n/b go??
md- fluffy is a hilarious dog name. dp hates how all the dogs at the park sound like a kindergarten class- charlie, ella, sam, chloe. he likes calling dogs stupid embarrasing names. our last one was a black lab named vader.
kate- mmmm now i want a cupcake. did you know you can get cupcake perfume these days? it smells like vanilla cake batter. weird huh?
-
Yeah, Rainy, everyone's at my house having a big LAUNDRY party! ;) So far we've done 17 loads of washing together but now we've all stopped for a cup of tea and an iced vovo. LOL Oh I think Vader is an excellent name for a big black dog (well at least it would entertain the other ppl at hte park - come over to the dark side Luke, LOL)! Our first dog was called Beagle (seriously that was her name) and the dumb part was she wasn't even one! But it suited her and I always said she missed her calling as a airport fruit sniffing dog, as she could sniff out food at a hundred paces, blindfolded! Just like a real beags.
OH PuHLEASE tell me where to get cupcake perfume! I used to live in the Body Shop Vanilla perfume but then Oreal bought Body Shop and changed the formulation, and then because it smelt like cat p!ss no one bought it and they've taken it off the market all together. Cupcake would be nearly as good and would certainly rate highly with DH who seems to like his lady smelling "edible" LOL!
Kate, cupcake theme sounds adorable and easily achievable too. I should expand my cupcake repertoire now that I'm the proud mistress of a Kenwood!
Cally, oh hun, reeeeeaally don't try to do christening and birthday on the same day, or you'll feel ripped off AND K will be overwhelmed! I found plenty of nice christening things on ebay when I was looking, just make sure you query the sizing correctly.
Noni, i hope you enjoyed the game. I sooo need to get some regular fitness activities into my life. No excuse now that i have nice walking shoes.
Hey did everyone see Big W has their baby catalogue out now? I'm thinking of popping in tmrw to see if I can find some little tshirty things in preparation for a long hot summer in Adel (*claps hands*). Not that I'm happy about the heat part, but the location more than makes up for that!
Better go, DD wants me to help her with a choreography for a talent quest at school. *sigh* there will be arguments and stamping of feet before we are finished, there always is!
PS Trill meant to say, thanks heaps for the cake pages! OMG that is one scary looking ducky! I think I'd better stick to something 2-dimensional, just between you and me!
-
i can't believe i missed the laundry party!! i could've brought 3 big dirty hampers to add!!!
now, the perfume is by a brand called demeter. they do heaps of weird fragances. i have seen it on a site called adorebeauty dot com dot au that i buy heaps of stuff from, they're awesome. i just had a look though and they don't have the particular one i'm talking about- i think it's called vanilla cake batter. check it out though, there's heaps of other funny ones.
there used to even be one called laundry that you would love ;)
also check out absolutelygorgeous dot com dot au

hello everyone
just a quick post to tell you all i am alive!!! i have skimmed through but am exhausted so cant do too many personals.. just back from melb now (since tue) and going back for the day tomorrow.... i need qantas shares LOL!!
the big news here is that N is commando crawling (i think)!!! ha ha all you are talking about wlking and my baby is starting to crawl!!! he still prefers to roll and isnt on all 4's but he will chase a remote or toy around and is getting faster and faster. i woyld say by the end of this week he will be fast commando crawling and not long til 'proper' crawling! he loves it too and only wants to be on the ground now, or climbing on me!! hmm the flight was interesting today and i am wondering how the trip to bali will be too (dh is now meeting us there)...
anyway better go, gotta unpack and then get some sleep before tonorrow work trip - back soon to catch up properly. xxx
-
Pregpan - yay for the crawling!! I think it was only a couple of weeks from the forwards commando crawl to a proper crawl for K. When do you head off to Bali?
Not as annoyed with MIL after speaking with DH. She works at a tourist info centre and that weekend there is a big expo on that a few of the staff have to attend (out of town) so they are short on staff (she hadn't mentioned that to me when she rang). We've told her that we would prefer she came to the party on the Saturday so she is going to try and get that day off and just have her lunch break during the christening on the Sunday so she can see that (although church is 20 minutes from her work so she won't be there for long!).
I don't think it was ever an option to do both together - certainly not while the girl of the day still needs 2 sleeps!
Had a bit of a look for christening outfits yesterday - OMG they are expensive! Will have a look in DJ's and Myer when next in Canberra, alternatively I think my mum could whip up something fairly quickly. I don't want something really over the top.
MD - the Big W catalogue had lots of little outfits I liked in it, shame I won't be near one until after the sale. I'm thinking we will need lots of little bloomers/shorts this summer as DD seems to have worked out how to undo velcro so there go the nappies!

hey all..
well it was a gruelling game but we managed to win!! they came out really strong and by half time they were 10 up on us then by the end of the second half we had managed to equalize so then we had to play extra time which is 14minutes in total and we ended up winning by 6!! i couldnt believe it! everyone just kinda decided they wanted to win and we pulled out a really good performance! so grandfinals next week tho we are playing a team thats only been beaten once this season so not so sure how thats gonna go!!
hmmm what else?? ohhhhh yesterday i got a new ring set!! the engagement ring i had from dp used to belong to his mum who gave it to me when we couldnt afford to get one but for a while now ive really wanted one that we chose a bit more personal kinda thing.. i ended up getting what i think is supposed to be an engagement ring and a wedding ring set but i am wearing the wedding ring on top of the engagement ring as a maternity ring :) its not the plain kinda wedding ring its one with like a row of diamonds on it so it works.. its sooo nice lol they are both white gold and the engagement ring is the princess cut.. they arent the most expensive rings in the world just 9ct white gold they were advertisedat 999 but wemanaged to knock them down to 800 because we went on like a payment plan (because it dosnt have any interest or anything and its just easier) and the deposit had to be a certain amount and we only had like 220 on cash lol worked out well.. i am so in love with them and dp has warned he will be very angry if i dont wear them (i get funny with jewellery sometimes wearing it for the first week or so and then storing it in a draw lol) i tried to take a pic to show u all but its just sooo shiny u cant see anything might try with the flash off later...
have my friend and her little boy coming over today so i gotta be quick so i can get to cleaning!! man my house is a pigsty!!!
oh i was finally able to do dps tax too and hes getting 2000 which was a pleasant surprise just waiting now till it goes through so i can find out how much centrelink are giving us.. should be around the same because we waaaay over estimated this year!!!
pregpan - congrats on the crawling!! was N miss behaving on the flight?
rainforest - ohhh vanilla cake batter perfume!!! yuuummm!!!
md - the netball season is about to end!! i am really gettinbg worried! i want to buy a cross trainer but after the money on my rings i doubt i will be able to get dp to agree to that too lol..
kate - i know what you mean about time flying!! ashas having a garden themed party its so exciting planning it and kinda sad too..
cally - oh birthday dramas! we had one of those.. my friend with two kids and her sister with one that asha plays with and enjoys being around werent going to be able to come to ashas party coz the sister with the one little boy put his party on the same day (he was born on the 24th) somehow her sister managed to convince her to change it so they can all come lol.. there is actually family members i am hoping DONT come lol but i am selfish!
sherie - yay for dinner being a success!!!
anyways best be off to clean before my friend gets here!!
-
Just quickly....
Pregpan *YAY* and double *YAY* for Noah being on the move somewhat. He will progress really quickly now.
Marydean - LOL at it being a scary ducky. I have always done a #1 for the kids for their first, so will do the same again. I LOVE the BS vanilla oil. I still buy it, but yeah, noticed the smell was ever so slightly different a few years back, but still vanilla. It is better once the bottle has been opened for a while and it smells different on you as opposed to what it smells like in the bottle.

I wrote a big post this morning and then Mr Helpful hit the reset button on the computer so I lost it, then I re-wrote it later and the computer died so I lost it again. Hopefully third time lucky....
Cally, I forgot to answer you the other day - from first steps to consistant walking was 4 weeks for William. He took a while to be confident enough to launch from the couch, as soon as he mastered that he hasn't stopped since lol. Glad you got something sorted for your MIL with the birthday and christening.
Rainy, what a pain that your MIL blabbed about bubba. I would be p!ssed. Is your dad excited about the new addition?
MD, 17 loads of washing! ****! I don't even think I have enough stuff in my house to make 17 loads! Will you be back in Adel by christmas?
Trill, how did A sleep last night?
Ange, hope the shingles and morning sickness are clearing up. I just realised you are a cloth nappy guru! Do you know anything about Berry Plush? I am thinking of getting some, they seem to have a good rep. The Snazzipants website suggests that I could get away with two complete nappies and 4-5 soakers per day - does that sound reasonable?
Pregpan, Yay for the movement! There is a bub at music the same age as W who commando crawls everywhere. He uses one hand and one elbow, his parents call him 'the slug' LMAO
Kate, what was the drama with S's christening dress?
JaZaH, hope everything is o.k
Noni, Congrats on winning the game and getting rings!
Clare, was it you asking about Facebook the other day? I hope so, or I am about to send you a really random PM lol
AFM: William is becoming a master of the spoon. If I pre-load it he has a pretty good success rate. I have seen him a few times picking up food, putting it on the spoon and then eating it. If we ask 'what noise does a horse make' he says Neigghhhh, very cute (just don't ask him what noise anything else makes, it is all Neigh lol)
It snowed this morning but it was all gone by lunch time so we played outside for a bit until W found a giant pile of mud that he wouldn't leave alone lol.
Sleeping has reverted back to 5-6 wakeups every night. However, the past few nights he has wriggled away to go to sleep instead of feeding which I am taking as a good sign.
-
arte: yep that was me asking about the facebook stuff...as we all know my repetoire is somewhat limited when it comes to the old techy stuff...
pregpan: woo wooot on the commando crawling! leila did that for a couple of weeks before going the whole hog.
rainy: bummer about the blabbing. i find it kinda takes the wind out of your sails when you go to tell someone and they already know. i think i managed to only tell my mum and oma and by lunchtime everyone knew...not happy jan!
just a quickie as i am freeeezing....
went for the next bellybelly postnatal support group yesterday. was really good. the lady that runs it is awesome!
Leila is crook, again. :( but we'll keep on truckin'.
and she now has FOUR teeth!! ha ha! better late than never!
anyway best be dashing!
xx

Rainy - I would be so p.o'ed if my MIL had spilled on our news way back then. I couldn't keep my own mouth shut so told a few people early on but I feel that its the parents news to tell not the grandparents.
Preg -:clap::hug: YIPPEE! on the commando crawling...definately not far off the whole hog now. It only took Sarah a little while to get up and going once she had the slug movement going. She still doesn't crawl 100% correctly but it gets the job done. She pulls one leg up and around like she is going to sit herself up but then leans forward further and inches her way along. So cute.
Noni - Congrats on the win and an even bigger congrats on the rings. Can't wait to see them on here or FB.
Art - The story with S christening dress is that Mum made it using her wedding dress. It was made to be used as the 'Family' gown for all the girls. My niece was the first to wear it for her christening 2 years ago and afterwards handed it back to mum to be cleaned etc. Sarah wore it for her christening and apparently SIL went ballastic because we were wearing her daughters gown. WTF!!! What part of family gown did she not get? Anyway, didn't ruin it for us and S looks gorgeous in it (check her website for pics or facebook).
Cassius - poor L, hope she feels better soon. Nothing like a sick bubba to make a mum feel useless. I always feel awful when S is sick cos I feel like I can't do anything for her, I just want to take her pain and unhappiness away. Congrats on the teeth tho, she'll be chomping thru more of them quicker than you know. Oh, something I read in the Mother and Baby mag was that teething lowers babys immunity which is why they get sick when teeth come through. Hadn't thought of it before but makes sense.
Hi to everyone else...BBL

Oh and forgot to mention that Sarah stood up by herself for a few seconds yesterday. She was holding onto one finger of mine and then just let go. I was so proud of her, she didn't even realise that she had done it and when she did...she fell. Still gets the wobbles up when standing tho.
