Rainy, he gets it all from me!!! Nah, he is quite smart but I don't think he is a super genius. I was apparently the same as a bub except I could talk in 2-3 word sentences by this age and I just turned out average.
Trill, sounds like they did quite a bit during the lap! Hope it was worth it and makes you feel better
Ange, Oh no!! Hope L is better now. I thought left over roast meats were safe??
Noni, yay for the your scan, glad it is as good for the second bub as the first
I just had my first day away from W. DH had a bit of trouble getting him to sleep and ended up going for a drive (he has never put W to bed before). Apart from that I think they were fine. W didn't even seem very excited to see me when I got home. I went to the nearest city 1.5 hours away to do some shopping. It was a pretty average day and then DH was an A-hole when I got home because I went $50 over budget and didn't get a present for my mum and step father. And apparently vouchers are the gift that says 'I couldn't be bothered finding you anything decent' and reflect poorly on him by association if I give them as gifts. Grrrrr. He is sucking the fun out of christmas.
Oh well, I got W a few toys and a little foam fold out couch. We are going to let him open his presents tomorrow because we are going away at the end of the week and aren't going to cart his presents half way across the country so he can open them on the actual day.
Arte- tell him to do his own shopping if he has an issue with the gifts you choose! Ungrateful men. pffffft. Lu absolutly loves her fold out couch, She gets books and teddys and sits on there for ages 'reading' and playing. Then she pretend to have a rest (gets that from me clearly!) cracks me up. Their powers of observation blow me away, today i had a CD in the laptop and i took it out. She came and picked it up, went and found a DVD case that was on the floor, opened it up and put the cd in. I was gobsmacked, i need to be more careful with things i do i think, they take so much in. No more nose picking i guess!
Sherie- Good news on the results. Great they could get all the adhesions. How you feeling? Did you get any rain from this front?
JG- Glad things are poking along ok for now.
As for us............I thought it was the pie but now i am having a rethink, DH is sick tonight so that can't be from last nights dinner. Think we picked up a bug at our friends house. ah well, at least it seems to be a 12 hour one. Lu went down at 6pm so fingers crossed she sleeps through. Still fed the pie to the puppies though!
Ange, glad that L is better tonight. Yip, the power of observation is crazy! I got distracted and left a bag of rubbish in the hallway and W came along and picked it up and went and put it in the outside bin! He has also started copying the little babies at mothers group - he lays down on the floor and says 'bubba waa waa waa', very cute!
Hi all, ladies just wanted to let you know that I'm in the crazy spin cycle of removals now so I'll get back in touch in a couple of days. Still hoping for a Melb catch up later this week. xxx
hi all
hope everyone is well.... and doing better than me!!
i have developed gastritis (infection of the stomach lining) and a stomach ulcer... not nice at all!!! i dont think i have been in this much pain - ever!! so that is why i havent really been around, just not feeling well/myself.
will pop on later for personals. xxx
PP, I hope it's isn't that and that it goes away soon. You've seen a Dr about it?
Clare, I have nothing but a for you over that incident
Ange, we got loads of rain so all the tanks are chocca block full again so i can relax a little with the water saving.
Arte, Paige has a fold out couch thing and A loves it too - will sit on it all the time to watch telly or play etc.
Hi Cally, MD and Cindy!
Alister is currently in bed asleep, and has been for 1hr which is really unusual for him. He has started this thing that he sometimes decides he's just had enough and wants to go to bed, so he will go and stand next to his cot holding onto his sheets till I put him in. Sometimes he will go to sleep, but most of the time he just wants a bit of time out, which is what I thought he wanted this morning but he ended up falling asleep LOL. I hear you all on the power of observation thing too, it's amazing how quickly they can pick something up and start doing it themselves. On the eating front we've now progressed to feeding oneself with a fork, and he will have it no other way LOL. He does pretty good too. I thought he was going to be like his big brother and be quite happy to be fed by someone else, but nope, now he has to do it.
I know what you mean about powers of observation, it is amazing what they pick up. DD put something in the bin yesterday, then she was tugging on the liner and pointing at the garage, so DH had to help her put it out in the big bin because it was full!!
And she has become obsessed with the washing basket - spent hours over the weekend sitting in it, pointing at things she wanted brought over to her. This morning she wanted to sit in a bucket - so cute! Also her toothpaste is a big hit, is constantly carrying it around. I think she'd be right for Christmas if we gave her a tube of toothpaste and a washing basket!!
Arte - good idea about opening presents early. My sister's birthday is on the 22nd and one year we were travelling that day, so mum just moved her birthday forward a few days - she had no idea!
Ange - how was last night?
Trill - hope you're A-OK now.
JG - glad the IU has behaved itself.
ETA - PAP - oh, you poor thing, hope that clears up soon!

JG: oh man, that does sound really tough. i hope that it continues to settle for you. do you have someone to help with H so that you can some more rest time? gosh is there such a thing as rest with a toddler?!! that things get easier here on in.
MD: holey moley woman! $90?!!!!! that sux big time. we havent changed ours over either! we went to vicroads and they told us to wait until it ran out..hmmmm. love to catch up while you are here...i'll have to charge the mobile LOL!
Rainy: yeah i'd be waiting for DH. much more of a slap in the face for her IMO. this way she can't get angry at what you did wrong, cause it was DH that broke the news IYKWIM....
Arte: yeah we need to constantly watch L ATM. she is trying to do 'big people' things all the time. usually means that we are fishing out clean nappies from the bin, or finding her shoes in our shoe rack LOL!
Ange: yup, that sounds bug-like to me. glad that it passes quickly though. hope that L gets back to a happy, well sleeping bub soon.
Noni: yay for the dating scan. how exciting! seeing the heartbeat is just soo cool. i never had a dating scan with DD. feel like i missed out now! LOL!
AFM: well all is good. we are back in melb. loooooong trip. the last 500kms were the hardest. L was good all the way (thank god for those tiny sultana boxes! LOL!). and robin barkers 'mighty toddler' travel tips worked a treat!
but now i think i have a cold coming on...boo hoo. oh well.
oh, and we have a new and improved poo story. location: gundagai. Time: 5.30pm...
sooo, we pull up at a motel in gundagai, L has been VERY quiet in her carseat for the last 20 minutes but i put it down to her being tired and over it. DH walks in to book a room and i get her out and pop her on my hip. there is a feint smell of poo, but i figure that i'll change her when we get to the room (it was raining heavily outside and nowhere to change her). L didnt seem too concerned.
ANYWAY, i head into the reception to help DH, there is a little girl there (about 2.5) and she points at Leila and I and starts crying. i get concerned, thinking maybe she thinks we are awful people, i look at leila on my hip and almost pass out from the smell...
ALL OVER my top (from the boob across the stomach etc) is poo. bright orange smelly poo. ALL OVER my arm holding her is covered in poo. ALL OVER her leg is poo right down to the ankle.
I run out of the door with the room keys and charge up to the room. we get into the bathroom and i try to undress her. it is oozing all the way down her legs and has managed to get right up over her belly up to her NECKLINE. i had to tear the shirt she was wearing as there was no way i was pulling it over her head. we both jumped in the shower and spent the next 20 minutes trying to extricate poo from everywhere. gross. i have NEVER seen so much poo. OMG.
