Arte - there I was thinking you'd avoided GD this time cos you'd been so good with your diet !! Enjoy!
Jazah - if it's any consolation we went thru a phase like this with DD1 - just remember you are giving her all the constructs to be a good, kind, compassionate person like yourself, eventually it will kick in. Trust me you will catch a glimpse of it soon. In the meantime, a 'stand still and look at me while i'm talking to you' policy (enforced with a chart with rewards & consequences) might help. PS we went through a lying and stealing phase with DD1 and it's something I still have to work on. She knows honesty is the best thing but sometimes I need to point out to her how omitting or covering up the truth is also a form of lying. It's a part of growing up. You would only be a bad parent if you didn't care enough to make the effort to deal with it, kwim?
Jaz - I think MD has given some good advice there, sounds like this is pretty normal behaviour at this age. Frustrating though I'm sure. Hang in there! I am also going through a rough trot with M's behaviour atm but thats a whole other thread lol.
Clare - Poor L that sounds terrible & painful. I really hope that clears up fast for her, has she been pretty miserable?
Renee - I saw the pics on FB too, what a scare!!
Just quickly popping in to say hi I'm still around, pretty flat out today though, hope everyone else is doing fine.
Thanks Arte, Pap and Md (have to spread the love )
Md - I just feel better at the thought that it's probably just a phase. Thankyou!!!!
She will be making her First Reconciliation next Friday, and i've told the other mums that we might run way over time because we'll be with Father for a while lol. Another friend said her DD is going to need to sleep over at the church!
I think it's just a case of dealing with it a day at a time.
Pap - i took your advice re what your mum used to say. This afternoon she had a heap of seed pods and i'd told her not to take them home in the car. She did take some, but I thought - It doesn't really matter. Would have been an issue about my power had I taken it further.
I'm off to have a play before the routine chores have to be done
Jaz: i have to cringe, as i remember that phase of my life all too clearly...i knew what i was doing was wrong but there was a tiny thrill (immediately/simultaneously) accompanied with racks of guilt. i started silly chatbacks and took money from my Oma's purse on a number of occasions. i didnt have the wherewithall to spend it but i did burrow it away...
G: back teeth? head for the hills!! oh, that's right, you're already there ROFL! i am the last person to get advice on this one considering what we are going through...but brush brush brush! the GP told me that it was probably some food that got lodged causing all the infection...i think i need to up the ante and brush 2x a day (we were only once a day...so hard to get her to sit still long enough )
G do you think it is the teeth making him sick then? Poor little man.
MD and Arte now I want some chocolate...mmmmmm chocolate lol.
ETA PAP I keep meaning to ask, have you fed in the Close Carrier yet? IS it easy?
A big huge hello to everyone else. Not much happening here. I have been out and about with some BB friends this week though. Had coffee with two of my baby buddies yest, one of whom I talk to a tone on FB but met for the first time and the other I met last week for coffee. I also had coffee with another BB girl today. I am getting my social fix now as I imagine once bub number two is here it won't be so easy lol.
wow oz that is great you're meeting up wih so many bb girls. that's awesome!
remember ages ago i sold my hammock on ebay and i said the girl that bought it was really lovely and had 2 littlies like me and we got on really well?.....well.......she just pm'ed me! i can't believe she's a bb member and she just made the connection and recognised me! how weird is that?
i know! she really was lovely though. she messaged me to say thank you for my hospitality and said she wouldn't have coped that day if i wasn't so nice to her as she'd had to drive for ages and her babies were getting upset. i totally knew how she was feeling though as i used to get so flustered and anxious when jimmy was a newborn, so i could totally relate.
small world huh?
pity she lives far away as her dd got on well with lewis...
ooh i wish i could meet up with BB girls (or guys!).
at home today as Leila is banned from kindy til the thrush is dealt with. i didnt make connections but now i realise that it is a contagious thing. ah well, 10 days to get it clear, pity i have to pay $100 per day for the kindy...but thems the breaks i guess.
Clare no way I can't believe she can't go back to kindy!! Most things they are happy to have them back once treatment is underway & symptoms are on their way out/gone. I would imagine you'll have it under control in 3 or 4 days - keep treating for the whole time so it doesn't come back. Can you take her back to the dr and get an all clear letter before then???
...unless of course you want a 10 day thesis vacation .
G - no way - your top secret cover has been blown!! far out. Lucky she is such a lovely person, I remember you saying at the time how you wished she lived a bit closer.
BTW Just want Kate to know - am thinking of you lovely, wondering how it's all going with you.
Ginger - Yes I remember you talking about how lovely she was & such a shame she didnt live closer. Small world!
Clare - This thrush sounds nasty, hope it buggers off real soon. Have you started planning which furniture you will put where etc in your new place? Exciting stuff!
Jaz - Dont know how useful this is, but supernanny says dont sweat the small stuff. Sometimes its easier to let it slide if they arent hurting anyone etc. Its amazing to see how a calm mum promotes calm children, shows how much they copy our behaviour & learn from us.
Oz - So glad you have met some nice BB ladies, especially after your last mothers group incident.
Took M to toddler gym today & she played so well with the kids, there was no pushing, lashing out or 'mine'. I praised & praised & praised some more & topped if off with a banana muffin. Also I was in woolies buying swisse multivitamins for DH & I, & they were having a sale on kids blackmores vitamins, so I ended up buying 'kids fruity fishies'. A good source of omega 3 fatty acids which helps with brain development/function, eyes, supports a healthy mood & normal behaviour and helps with learning. I dont know how true this all is, seems to good to be true, but I have been struggling with M's temper lately.
MM can they have the vitamins now? L hates fish so we were thinking about weather or not a supplement was worth a shot but I didnt think they could have them till 3. I will have to check them out. Glad M was better for you today.
hi everyone
just a quick postfrom me, i am hoping to get some dinner in soon... so while it is cooking here i am!
mD - how are the essays going> dont knwo how you are managing it all atm
Jaz - how you doing today?
Oz - i havent fed yet in the close carrier - might try that soon. to be honest i havent used it as mich as i would like to - J isnt the most cuddly of bubs so he doesnt LOVE it so i have been a bit lazy with it. but i have loved it when i do use it... and so i will do so more!!! N also seems to get EXTREMELY jealous when J is in it, which kinda defeats the purpose as i wanted to use it when i had them both with me so i had free hands for N.... aaah all the planning goes out the window! how are you feeling? not long to go now. glad you have been having fun meeting up with BB ladies. i am looking fwd to meeting our own trill soon!
Noni - how you doing> you sound so much happier!
Clare - how is miss gorgeous L? dont beat yourself up on the teeth brushing, it isnt easy at the best of times with these little mites! I hope she is dong better and has left you some ice cream!
G - how is L? what did dr say? i hope he is ok.
hi Arte - how you going today??? i wont read anything into your lack of posts today....
AFM - all is well. I am proud i just did my 1st bed routine with them both without DH here... basically fed J to within an inch of his life so he would be happy while i did N. they are both asleep now - whcih is weird as J is usually wide awake from 7-9 feeding. hmm maybe i need to do a massive feed session b/n and 7 and he will settle for the night earlier. we will see how we go. DH is out at the movies. i am glad he could go. i went to a mums and bubs session again today - it is my thu thing and i love it. saw the september issue - follows anna wintour - loved it! my mum is here tomorrow to spend the day with me and the boys - woo hoo. my cousin is also down with her 2 little ones (4yo and 1yo) so we are spending the morning with them having bubbacinos and doing questacon and lunch, should be great. my mum told me she had a seed shopping spreee for all the kids so i am awaiting the arrival of some lovely clothes! my lucky boys!!!
hope everyone is smiling.
sorry for not posting lately, it's been a huge two days. I had to go to wagga on Wednesday for a dermatologist appt, get home and Alister is pooing like no tomorrow - it's like someone turned his bum into a poo tap that you couldn't turn off. And it was just frothy liquid, so yesterday I took him to our GP to bring forward the allgery testing we were having on Monday anyway. He wanted tests done for liver, kidney, and thyroid function (because his lymph nodes on his neck were super big and swollen), full blood count, white and red blood cells and testing for cows milk protein allergy and coeliac disease. Dr seems to think it's more likely to be coeliacs because of the way his eczema has flared up. Had to take him to the hospital for the Bt's and my boy, who never sits still, did not move a muscle while the Path lady took 10mls of blood! I had to hold his arm still for her and he just layed there watching her and didn't even cry. he even got a bravery certficate for it LOL. We also have to go see a paed for further investigation and jic he needs a bowel biopsy done to confirm the coeliacs etc. We are also on a no diary diet atm to let his stomach rest so he doesn't get temporary lactose intolerance. Oh, and he didn't need to test for lactose intolerance as that was already tested for in the first poo sample apparently as well as the giardia. But he's doing well on the poo front - haven't had a dirty nappy since 5 yesterday.
And then my day gets worse - gets home after lunch from the Drs and I tried calling Mum about 4.30 as I hadn't spoke to her for a few days and my borther answers. I said is Mum home or is she at work, he said no, she's in bed really sick - she'd picked up a gastro bug from him the day before and hadn't moved from bed since then unless she had to. BUT because her diabetes is totally out of control and she doesn't take her insulin she was soooo close to slipping into a coma she was that sick. I then got my brother to put mums partner on and he said they had been trying to get her to hospital all day but she wouldn't go because she is so stubborn and I asked if she was able to talk and he took the phone in to her and as soon as I said hello she said alright! I'll go, because she knows I won't take her crap and would drag her there myself if necessary. I told her I was calling an ambulance as she was barely coherrent and slurring her words really bad and I starting ****ting myself thinking that this was it, she's not going to make it. So I called the ambulance to go and get her and they had to take her through to wagga in the end as they couldn't stabilise her in Temora as her BSL were through the roof. I went over there last night and got home after 1 so I am totally wrecked. I got the kids off to school, am going to take the little two to the IL's so I can sleep.
Oh Trill huge huge huge hugs what a rotten couple of days. I hope that both A and your mum are ok. Good idea taking the kids to the inlaws, I hope you manage to catch up on some sleep.
PAP WTG on the bedtime routine. I can't wait to try out the CC. I am feeling really good and excited about the birth. Have a great day with your mum.
