    Babies Born ~ August 2012 #1

All good here. We are having some issues with cradle cap, excema and green poo but apart from that DS is great! DP and I are trying to eat better, more veges, fruit etc but I feel like my milk supply has dropped off. DS however does not seem hungry or unhappy so I guess he's getting enough. It just feels strange not to have full breasts...
Hope everyone else is well x

    Hi all!

Patti, I was wondering about low supply too with the soft breasts, so I made some lactation cookies (and hid them from dh so I'd get some! ) - I'm now feeling fit to burst! I have to express whichever side she doesn't feed off overnight or it is too painful to sleep.

Eczema here as well poor little girl has it all over her face and a bit on her neck and arms. The weather is not helping - it seems like I just get it under control and we have another hot spell, which makes it flare up. It doesn't help that she rubs her ear when she's tired and fighting sleep - even wrapped up she manages to get at it and it gets so red. I have always been prone to it and am getting it on my hands, particularly in the webbing between my fingers. So itchy. Moogoo is helping.

I'm loving all the goos and gahs - she's such a chatterbox! She has lovely convos with her big sister. We started back wrapping yesterday, just at home while I get some practice, but she loved the new perspective on the world :-)

Hope you and yours are all well!

Boobs do tend to settle down so dont fret! Soft boobs doesnt mean no milk, but make sure the nappies are wet as they should be etc.

Ive made the dough myself as I had a rough day, think I was a bit dehydrated and bub was feeding constantly, most of the night. She's settled again and I need to make sure I am drinking more water.

Re eczema: Probiotics! I was taking specific probiotics in pregnancy clinically proven to reduce eczema and allergies in babies. Speak to our BB naturopath, Nicole for more info. I also posted something recently about probiotics helping babies with eczema.

Hope youre taking your multi's still ladies xx

That's interesting - I was taking them for the first month or so - I had mastitis and was on ab so I took the probiotic but didn't buy more when they ran out. Will pick up some more!

Any recommendations for a nice herbal tea whilst bf? I have been drinking Holle organic nursing tea, which I love, but it's getting expensive given how much I drink in a day.

    Have a great day, ladies!

There are specific strains for different things - there are so many types that have different functions! So the ones you were taking may not be as effective. Check out the eczema thread, pretty sure I stickied the article.

Where do you get the tea PP? And what probiotic is best for eczema BB? I know soft breasts doesn't mean no milk, but that full, uncomfortable feeling is so reassuring I'm still taking the multi's, some ostelin and some flax seed oil for good measure!

DS usually sleeps 10.30- 4am but then rouses again at 6.30. My 2year old is up at 7. Sometimes I can get them to have a nap at the same time in the afternoon. I want DS to take a bottle of EBM occasionally so that DP can do the night feed in the weekend, but so far he can't seem to suck on the teat- I've tried Avent and Tommee tippee brands.

I really can't believe how fast time is passing and how big DS is getting. He is around 7kg and 61cm, he wears mostly 00's and even some 0's. He loves to suck his hands and can escape any swaddle!!

Anyway, that's enough from me! Better get this day started and get outside, away from Dora the explorer which is the hot favorite at our place, I really hate Dora....

    Everyone take care x

    Hi all,

I second the softer breasts not meaning less milk ... I acutally look forward to the day my boobs don't feel so full!! And good reminder about taking vitamins Kelly, I had stopped taking mine but just started again in the last few days. And sorry, no recommendations on tea - I'm not a big herbal tea drinker and I live, live, live for one good coffee each day (my five minutes of "time out" bliss!). Re eczema, my sister used the moogoo on her two children and swears by it.

DS3 has two tiny patches of cradle cap and TBH I wouldn't have a clue how to deal with it as my other boys didn't get it. I'll start reading up on it! DS3 is going well. The chiro did a fair bit of work on his pelvis this week as it was locked up again, and it definitely affects bub's feeding and sleeping - it's only subtle, but I can tell. He can also go up to 5 days between poos, but thankfully doesn't seem to suffer his earlier wind/gastric problems.

Does anyone else feel like they're going bald? My hair's been falling out now for the past couple of weeks - you can see where I've been in the house as there's a trail of shed hair behind me, lol I expected it to happen, and I know I definitely won't go bald, but geez I'm sick of those lose strands of hair that land on your neck/shoulders and tickle!!

I'm off to wash up some 0s as DS3 is pushing out the ends of his onesies, and his 00 short leg and sleeve bodysuits are getting hard to snap up. Really hoping his growth starts to slow up a bit - it's great he's a healthy, solid (and tall) boy ... but 0s at 2-and-a-half months

LOL Andi, last night I conditioned my hair and it was coming out everywhere!! I was thinking, wt?! Happened when I fell pregnant too so freaked me out, until my baby brain realised that happens soon after a bub too. Normal!!

Oh and I have been sooooo hungry lately too! Feel like scoffing some days!!!

I've just weaned dd2 from breastfeeding onto a bottle. She was highly fussy while feeding and I was beginning to dislike the feeding relationship. I'm proud I got to 19 weeks feeding considering the first 3 included expressing and also a long time to get attachment. I wanted to get to 6 months but I'm only a little short. Now it's a case of working this routine out. Sometimes she'll take 240mls while others I'm struggling to get 100 in her.

Hows the feeding going now OLP?

    How's everyone's bubbas going?

Making such big progress so quick, its scary how quick she's growing. Rolling onto her belly, preferring to sit, chattering away lots and realising she can do funny noises (ever increasing in volume!) and starting to pick up toys and things. Finally settling down in the car a little which is a relief. Put a big mirror in the back for her.

Going to have to buy more chewy toys for her, she's gnawing the heck out of my fingers and it hurts sometimes! Such a cutie though.

Rolling already!! Wow! DS3 has good head and shoulder control (tummy time is a no brainer, he could stay that way all day lol) but we're way off rolling over. He's doing well though, pretty much getting through the night without a feed now (yay, sleep!!). He was three months yesterday so I had him weighed, and my little Christmas Pud is now 8.4kg. The MCN said his weight should start to slow down now he's dropping his night feeds. Kinda hope so, but at the same time the main thing is that he's healthy and happy. It's kinda funny though, he's off the charts with his weight but is in the 25th percentile for his head measurement. So he's a pin head, hee hee.

AFM, my hair loss is driving me nuts. It feels like I'm losing thousands of strands a day, and I'm sick of being tickled by falling strands. Grr. Guess it will stay this way for at least another couple of months. So far no bald patches, so that's a bonus

    Hi ladies,
Going well here too. Sorry to see you go LMS. Andie, my hair came out in handfuls with DD, but so far hasn't happened with DS. We too get thru most nights without a feed. he has a dream feed at 10.30 and usually goes thru til at least 5. He is sooo lovely and placid, I just can't believe how easy going he is. On Monday I had a wax, hair appt and pedicure and he just rolled with me, smiling and laughing at all the people. An absolute delight!!! He has figured out how to roll as well and is now compelled to do it every time he is on the floor and is then unhappy to be on his tummy! I was given a "bumbo" seat and think he'll soon grow out of it, but feel like he might be a bit young to be using all those muscles for sitting? Does anyone else have any experience with them?

Glad the car trips are improving BB, it is awful listening to them upset when you are driving and can't comfort them. The mirror is a good idea.

DS has almost outgrown his bassinet now. I was expecting a smaller baby who would stay in it for at least 5months!! I could put him in his cot, but that would mean moving him into his own room. I have a feeling I'll be moving with him as I really love having him at arms reach.

Not looking forward to the heat tomorrow.

    Take care

LMS - Hope you enjoyed your time with us, take care hun.

Andi - 8.4kgs! Nice one! Amaya had her weigh in today and at 4 months she is 6.7kgs. So she's put on a bit over 2kgs since birth. Cant remember the measurements. I am so with you about the hair loss thing, its tickling me like mad and I am going insane! Finding them in Amaya's mouth too!!!

Patti - They outgrow things so fast don't they! Never last as long as you expect, although I did expect another 5-6lber baby too!!!

Amaya is going great, week 17 wonder week this week though and its been pretty hard. She likes being distracted outside, which is good but not so good in this heat. So I have been putting her bouncer on the verandah while I top up food and water for the animals and try and stay in the shade. She's rolling over all the time now, getting her head up pretty high, and has rolled back once too, but I think that was a fluke! She's grabbing for toys this week, but has been pulling hair, ears, noses for a bit now lol. Wants to sit up all the time and is very alert and inquisitive, but I guess it comes with the territory having a great night sleeper. Makes it challenging to get something done and focused on during the day.

Had an awful trip up to school today, she was tired and screamed so loudly, was awful - but she was so tired. Poor bubba. Today was my last school drop off for the year though, as I am now car pooling with another mum, we do a week on, week off, its been brilliant. It sounds more significant having a 20-30 min trip one way trust me!!!

Loads to do while the princess naps, hope everyone is going well! xx

    Hi ladies,

Hope you all had a nice Christmas and New Year. Given how quiet we've been in this thread in the past few weeks, I guess (like me), you've all been rather busy

Rory has an ear infection at the moment, so he's on antibiotics. Other than he's been a bit scratchy at night (waking a couple of times, quite upset - though nothing a BF won't fix!), he's his usual happy self most of the time.

I'm still waiting for my "little" man to roll over, though his brothers didn't start rolling till they were nearly 6 months old, so I guess despite his upper body strength he'll be around the same mark. At yesterday's weigh in he was 9.35kg, length 69cm. I sometimes feel like I'm obsessed with his weight, but I'm continually gobsmacked by how much he weighs ... I seem to have continual "OMG moments" each time he's put on the scales. Gosh, DS1 was 12 months old before he hit the same weight, so it's not like I have a history of hefty bubbas Surely he's got to slow up soon as he's already pushing into size 1! No way is this kid getting solids until he's started to move, otherwise he will truly be the michelin man, lol.

Speaking of solids ... has anyone gone down that path yet? I'm told latest the advice is to start around 4 months, but my older two started closer to 6 months, so that's when we'll begin. I'm considering BLS this time round, though the other two did fine with home-made puree etc and ate like troopers when it came time to have lumps and "proper food" etc.

Eeek. It feels like last week I was preparing to give birth. Now I'm talking about solids!

Our next big thing will be moving DS3 out of the crib next to my (and DH's) bed, and into his cot in his own room. He should have been out of the crib a while ago as he's really too big for it ... but I'm such a sook. He's the only one of my three kids that's slept in our room, and now that he's there - I don't want him to leave!! I adore waking up to his beaming face. He's always so happy to see me Too bad that his cot's too big to go in our room (boo hoo).

Woah Andi, he is a good size! Thats amazing, 2.5kgs bigger than Amaya!!! I would be spinning out too lol!

We're doing baby led solids - she's got perfect food on easy supply and she's not ready, so no rush.

Sleeping is still a mix of co-sleeping and hammock. Waking once or twice a night but luckily no tears, just boob or a wriggle into me. She's a pretty content bub at night, I am really lucky, but after my first two I earnt this one lol!

Amaya is getting so strong, rolls onto her belly all the time and has started wriggling around - puts her bum up or pushes her upper body up with her arms straight. Wont be long til we all have bubbas on the move, scary!!!

We've had a crazy time at home renovating at full speed. The kitchen, lounge, entrance and hallway all being tiled and painted. We're doing it ourselves so taking longer than expected, but so much cheaper. Very tired though looking after bub then working!

Sounds like everyone is really busy too. Hope you're all well!
