Hannah - you are so hard on yourself!! Don't be!! You have the proof of being an amazing mum in that beautiful little girl of yours. I'm so glad you're asking friends for help and I'm really impressed about how organised you are about it. Good on you! And that's amazing about Amelia's talking. Matilda still doesn't say many words. She runs around like a little olympic sprinter but not a lot of real words. They're all so different aren't they.

Alison - great to see you. Aren't those bad tummy bugs the worst!!! We had one last year and it was the worst week. And that's great that you're thinking of doing exactly what you want and giving the job up when you get pregnant. Will you start TTC soon?

Suz - thanks for going over your daycare experiences with me. It really helps to hear about other people's experiences.

Kanda - thanks for getting on and giving me your vote of support - I really appreciate it!

Well sorry I haven't got to everyone else but I've got to get out and leave for a new mothers group I'm trying out. I'll try and get on again later.

    Hi girls

Argh, I am so, so behind here. I just keep forgetting to check BB these days. Thinking of you all, though.

Hannah - I just wanted to say that I think you are being very, very hard on yourself. I think some of us just have these huge expectations of how we're going to be as mothers - expectations that no one could actually live up to - and then we beat ourselves up when we don't live up to them. I think it sounds like at least a trial of you staying home could be a good thing?

Hi to everyone else, sorry I don't have the mental power for proper replies.

As for me. Well, health has been a bit crappy again lately - just the stress of the last few months catching up to me, I think. That, and Liam has been sleeping badly since the beginning of the year, which means that I'm chronically sleep deprived. The last few weeks he's been back to napping properly (two naps a day again, and some days - like today - his morning sleep has been 1.5hr+ and afternoon sleep 1-1.5hr) and I've been napping in the afternoon as well. It sucks, but there's not much else I can do. My rheumatologist wants me to go back on methotrexate, but I really don't want to go down that route again. I hate autoimmune diseases

Liam is walking properly now, too. And much happier for it - I think he just really likes being independent in his movements. Though his teeth are clearly bugging him at the moment, which is making him a little clingy. He seems to be getting new words every few days, too.

And you girls are all making me seriously clucky On one hand, I kind of dread going through the first year with a baby again since Liam was so much work, but hey, I could get lucky and have an easy bub Maybe somewhere near the end of the year we will start trying. I need to get my health a bit more stable first.

Hi Tilda - how did your new group go?? I hope they are nice.

Hi Rose - been thinking of you a lot lately, I think it's time we organised a catchup, it's been ages. Amelia's started getting super clingy and waking at night again too, it's horrible isn't it, I think it's her teeth, I can't tell you how much I hate teeth! Let's get together with Beany and have a good catchup. xx

Hi Everyone else, how are we all?

Sorry for the quick one but have decided to finally start getting some of Amelia's photo's in order, I haven't touched her album since she was 3 months old, so bad!

    xx

Hi Rose - isn't it great when they start walking? They're so much happier. My back has improved so much since M started walking because I'm not carrying her around all day. I saw on FB you're back on prednisilone. I know the side affects are annoying but its worth it to feel better.

Hi Alison - the new group was great. They were pretty much all English girls newly arrived in Sydney so none of us know many people. I tried calling an established group the health clinic put me onto and they didn't even call me back. I think it will be better to join a group that's just starting up. Aren't teeth the worst?? Matilda has three coming through at the moment!! One at the front and two of her 1 year molars. It was an AWFUL weekend between that, her cold, and the heat in Sydney.

AFUS - Well just popping in to say hi. I had a scan yesterday and started to really feel like this baby is real. And then I saw a friend with her 16 month old and newborn up the street today. It was amazing to see how small he was!! You forget!! And you forget how irresistible they are! I'm thinking of dropping Matilda's last feed at the end of the week which is sooooo sad but its got to happen soon. I don't think I'm up to tandem feeding so I guess I've just got to bite the bullet and do it.

LOL Hi Kawa good to see you back...you were joking about being new here yeah? Or has it been that long you've forgotten us

Harry used to do a lot of tongue clicking, he clicked his tongue when he liked something. He still does grunts and groans, it's almost like he's trying to get the words out. He does have a couple of words now but he's one of the slower in the group, he's not walking either, slacker!

Are you all settled in up North now? I can't remember exactly where you went, Mackay? How'd you fair in the floods and cyclone?

Gotta go sorry to not get to everyone, well no one except Kawa lol trying to eat my dinner before it gets cold.

    Howdy all!

Tilda - how are you going with your daycare hunt? Gosh, what a nerve your Aunt has! Are you particularly close with her? I believe a mother knows what is best for her child; nobody knows Matilda like you do, nobody knows what she needs like you do. You just continue as you are, you're doing a wonderful job. Every mother is different. Every child is different. I don't think someone can just come in and challenge your mothering like that. I know it must be hard, but try not to take it to heart. Some people just don't understand. I"m glad you enjoyed your mothers group, it makes such a difference to have a bunch of girls in the same position as you to bounce ideas off and such. Glad your scan went well, I can't remember what you said...do you think you will find out whether its a boy or girl?

Suz - Congratulations on passing your exam! Thats cool! Yes, my work is moving to the next suburb, its good cos it will be a bigger office and I'll hopefully be in a better seat!

Hannah (hmm...maybe we should make that TC now? Love the new name!) - I hope Amelia's sleep is still on the improve Thats great she's coming up with new words. She needs to speak to Michael! Still nothing here! Gee, you're right. I hadn't stopped to think about it...but 2011 has been pretty rough for everyone so far, hasn't it? With the cyclone, floods, and now devastating bushfires here in Perth. Whats going on?? Maybe we're just getting all the bad stuff out of the way early and the rest of the year will be better?? Please don't be so hard on yourself. You really mustn't try to measure yourself against anyone, especially not online. You don't always get the full story; we all have our own struggles. I'm still deeply affected by not being able to bf, disappointed to the extreme that I've ended up with PND and Anxiety and on AD's. It affects me everyday. By no means do I think I am the best mum, but I know I do my best. And thats all that matters. I do hope that it works out you can stay home more, with your parents estate. When will you know? Good on your for meeting some of the Adelaide BBers

Rose - Liam sounds like he's streaking ahead! walking, words, improved napping! Fantastic stuff, I hope the improved napping has continued. Sorry to hear you've not been well Are you feeling any better now? When you're feeling up to it we need to have a Perth catch-up!!!

Alison - Poor Amelia, how is she going with her teething now? Michael did the same last week...was waking a few times a night crying. I put it down to his teeth coming through, he has 3 molars coming through and his eye teeth are slowly making their way down too. Poor monkey. I loved the new pics of Amelia! She's just adorable, she really is Oh, I noticed in one of your pictures you had a new pram? What did you get?

Kawazuki - Welcome back! Glad to hear you weathered the storm ok. Sorry to hear about Miss M's hearing. I hope the tests come back clear. Michael hasn't really said anything other than "mo" (for More), apart from that its just always "bdee" or "ptchka" or "ba-ba-bais". Thats about it! I did wonder if there was something wrong with his hearing, but he seems to hear ok and can tell the difference between Dog and Frog when I ask him to point them out. So he must just be slow! Do let us know how she goes with her tests.

Willow - What words is Harry saying now? Thats good that he says some!

    Hello everyone else!

AFM - Feels like its been a really busy couple of weeks, but I can't remember what I've done! Michael is still goign well, full of cold tho, and teething.

We've decided to go to UK for a few weeks in April 2012!!!! My dad and my aunty (twins) are having a big 60th bash, and we decided if we don't go for a holiday now, its going to be years until we can. So. Unfortunately that has forced us to make the decision to postpone trying for #2 until we get back. I may well change my mind before then, but I just don't want the worry of being pregnant and flying and being away from my Ob, etc. I'm a little disappointed as I was thinking the end of this year to start trying. Oh well. For the sake of 6 months or so I think it will be worth it. I've been going on a spending spree on ebay buying some warm clothes for Michael & getting them sent straight to my mum's house in UK. Also went and bought a lighter stroller for travelling with (got a Maclaren Vogue - v impressed so far!). I'm just soooo excited, but its so far away!!!

I'm sure you would have all heard aobu tthe fires in Perth. I grew up in Kelmscott (after I moved here from England), and I was so sad to hear of all the houses destroyed. Then I found out that the house on the block of land we used to own (we were about to build on it when my parents divorced and we sold it) got totally gutted Shocking.

    Hi again another quicky...

Kawa Have you noticed there could be something wrong with her hearing, other than no words? I thought DS1 had hearing problems for a while when he was about 12-18months. Turned out to be LOTS of wax deep in his ears good mothering there! The doc said nothing I could have done just one of those things. After they flushed them he was really jumpy for a few days cos everything was so load for him, poor little man.
I also had a friend who didn't say anything except grunts, apparently his sister understood the grunts, no one else could. Then when he was 4 (they were worried he wouldn't be able to start school) he just walked into the kitchen one day and said to his mum "Can I have a vegemite sandwich please" He just didn't want to talk before then I guess.
Anyway hope the test goes well for her. Let us know how she goes!

Hannah You are way too hard on yourself!!! You are a great mum!!! Hopefully when your mum's estate is all sorted you might be in a position to stay home full time, that would be awesome for you. It is hard to give work 100% when you really don't want to be there

Tilda Hope your aunt has been quiet since your last contact, but I think I covered my feelings there in the other thread :-)
It is sad you have to drop the last feed, but if you're not up to tandem then it's probably for the best sooner rather than later. I don't know that I'd be up for tandem either.

Alison Glad Amelia's over the tummy bug! I don't do vomit very well either YAY the doll house, did some one make it for you?

Beany I think "mo" is definitely a word!! Specially when it's in context. Harry says "up" "dad dad" "doh-ta"(don't touch, usually while he's touching something he shouldn't be!) "ah-ya-ya" (lasagne) "a-loh" (hello when he puts the phone to his ear) "Di" (Bindi our dog, and all other dogs and cats, and quite a few other things now too) "eight" (he was watching me on the phone writing a phone number down the last number was 8 now every time he sees a pen and paper or writing or he says eight, and if anyone says 8 he parrots it ) I think that's all but he's really trying to say words now. I think he says "out" now too.

Rose Sorry you've had to got the steroids again. But hopefully you can get some relief and then once you're on top of it again TTC!!

Hi and to everyone else sorry gotta go do a few more things before the next Harry calling, will catch up with all the perssies soon.

Suzie Did I hear you got your boat license? Well done I hear that's a really hard test!

Hi Willow - yes my aunt has been very quiet ! Thanks for replying to my other thread about it. You know what it's like. People always point the finger at the mother. But I think I've let it go now. I was really angry and upset for a few days because it went beyond the normal criticism people generally dose out. But I think I don't just know but feel (IYKWIM) that they're actually her issues and not mine. She has a lot of regrets about how she brought her kids up and now she thinks it's her place to put everyone right.

Hi Kawazuki!!! Welcome back! Yes, we have another cheeky monkey on the way just make life a bit more chaotic I think there's a pretty big range in language development but maybe its worth going and seeing a couple of people like your CHN and GP if you're worried. It never hurts to get these things checked out, does it? Matilda really only says Mama and Dada consistently but I'm not too worried because she does babble a lot and seems to understand 90% of what we're saying. How does DD's comprehension seem?

Hi Beany - that's terrible about the house on your old block! I can't believe the fires came that close in! But on a brighter note that's SO exciting to be planning a big trip to the UK next year. I saw your other thread actually (not that I'm spying) but I'm sure Michael will be fine on the flight. We had friends come home from Sweden recently and their 2.5 year old was apparently a dream. He either slept or played quietly or watched TV. I think by that age they understand so much more that things become easier.

AFUS - We've had our first two nights of sleeping through from 7pm - 6:30am!!!!!! I think dropping that early morning feed did it. After a few mornings of going without I think she thought there wasn't any point getting up anymore. Now I'm terrified of dropping the bedtime feed in case it throws things out. Well I'm going to go and slave over fish pies which probably won't get eaten! She is being so fussy at the moment and just turns her nose up at things for the sake of it. It's enough to drive you mad!

    thanx willow, beany and Tilda.
Thats part of the issue, she has no comprehension, she cant point to something when i ask her to. her balance is bad, no wax had them checked a few times.

so its coming down to hearing or some other delay, or disorder.
monday will be exciting . she doesn't babble she is a very quite kid, she only grunts or squeels.

    Willow: hello

beany: oh wow going to the UK I can always help carry your bags.

    Tilda:
wow congrats on the sleep through, isn't it nice to get a few extra hours un broken sleep I am over the fussy eating stages luckily, Tay is eating well and Maree is just a bottomless pit or the garbage disposal as she will finish of your plate lol. Hope the dropping of feeds goes well and doesn't interrupt the pattern too much.

AFUS: all going ok, both girls finally not sick. Maree has 4 more teeth coming through so she now has 16 teeth all up.. yikes no wonder she is a grumble bum lol.
I'm now working full time, and finding it draining but have to keep going and i have also started my Masters at UNI, yep i need a brain transplant lol.
better run gotta go put children to bed and shower and go to bed before swimming and dancing tomorrow

    bye

    Hi girls

Hi BS Hope Eva is feeling better. Have your visitors arrived yet? Sorry my memory is crap. I hope you're all well and enjoying the visit, if they are there already Glad your stitch went well. So the doc thinks your second labour will be the same, pain free as the first. I hadn't thought about it but why wouldn't it be. So sounds like a good precaution then to have you in hospital.

Hi Tilda Glad you've been able to let go of your aunts issues. I tend to stew for too long and it's not good for anyone.
YAY for the sleep through!!! Good luck with dropping the final feed

Hi Kawa Woah you are busy! What are you doing your masters in? Sorry if I should already know that, as I said to BS my memory is so crap!

Hi Kanda ...How are things going?

Hi Lani How's Jett after the dog bite? Has he seen the dog again?, Or another dog? Hopefully he won't be scared of all dogs now, poor little guy. Hope everything else is going ok with you guys.

AFUS Harry's been doing a lot of walking today so I think it won't be long until he's a full time walker. He's having trouble with teeth too at the moment so he's pretty cranky. I took him in to work today to visit some of the residents. The oldies just love to see babies and little kids, it's good to see their faces light up
Harry still has a serious aversion to having his nappy changed is anyone else having issues with this? Yesterday he ended up with s***on his hands which he proceeded to rub on his face and through his hair, also on my hands, all while twisting to get away from me with still caked on poo on his bum. Sometimes I think I'm going to break his legs or dislocate an ankle trying to hold him, but I'm not keen on letting him get away and traipsing crap all aver the place! I try to give him something he's never seen before to look at while I change him but I'm quickly running out of things, and it doesn't always work depending on his mood. Anyone got any suggestions?

I'm off for a baby free cuppa before bed. Sorry again if I've missed anyone I tried to get to everyone between my last 2 posts, but not sure if I have succeeded. If I have missed you it's not that you're unloved, it's just my pathetic brain and almost no existent memory

Hi Willow - I wish I could give you some advice on the nappy wars! But it sounds like you're doing everything you can. All you can do I think is try and distract them but its hard to keep coming up with new things. Have you got a phone that plays music or videos? In desperation I once gave Matilda my iPhone and let her watch the wiggles or something while I changed her. Probably not great parenting but it worked a charm! But I'm lucky that she's really improved over the last couple of months. I get the really messy stuff done without a problem now before she wants to jump up. Food is our new battleground. She has become SUPER fussy. I've been told it's an autonomy thing because it's one area they can assert themselves but boy it's frustrating.

Hi everyone else. I won't try and get to any more personals because both our computers are down and I'm on my phone. If I had the energy I'd have a big vent. It's been one of those days.

Hi Tilda I think we have the same parenting style the mobile doesn't work any more, and a lot of the time whatever you give him ends up in the poo So we need to be a bit selective about what is ok to be covered in poo!
Absolutely right with the food, they can assert some control over it so they will. Not because they don't like it any more, just because they can But they also won't starve themselves to prove their point. I just make sure everything I offer is nutritious and not many unnecessary snacks so everything that does go in is all good.

    everyone hope all is well

    Hello Everyone..
Just popping in to say that I got a on my last HPT. Holey Moley!.... So by the looks of things I will have another little bundle around the middle of October. It's been a rough few days, really up and down. I couldn't get a decent reading from any HPT and then there was spotting cramping. It's been a rollercoaster to say the least. But this morning I got the strongest line ever and I am so tired in the afternoon. I am going to the Drs today but I usually find they just say 'congratulations' and give you a thingy for blood tests.
Anyway. fingers , toes, everything crossed this little bundle is sticky sticky sticky!

So we are still at Mum and dads, we now need a new house and a new car. What a year this will be!...OMG!
