Beany, thanks for the compliments on my colorful house DH and I always liked "pop" design so we have a very white interior with bright color for everything else - I really believe that the bright colors and different textures are stimulating for Eva as well and we try to get as much rounded, bubble type furniture as possible so that she does not get hurt on it We live in a very grey climate so try to add some brightness somehow! The teeth are the worst...I noticed that Eva gets sick bad every time she is teething. I think it really wears them down. You guys are also going into cooler weather, so that is part of it too...I am looking forward to warm ! It is starting here and I have had my windows all wide oipen and have been eating on the ils terrace often in the past few weeks! So exciting!

ALison, I meant to ask you how they had two canopies exhibited??? Here they only have one shown - I am just curious as to how they presented that option. I am only putting up one leaf from the head of the bead, but interested in hearing how they did two...As for the 3kg I think that is not important - I got preg with #2 about 15kg over what I would like to be! After this birth I am going on a major major fitness regime. I need to take my body back...we will discuss if we want a third a year after #2 is born but it might just be two so I plan on getting back in shape and staying there...But with this preg I ahve only gained 6/7 kilos so far, so def less than with Eva (where I gained 14 total) - I still have about two months to go so let's see where that ends...Don't worry about those 3 kg - it is really not a lot. I can't wait until you announce your second

Tilda - the nesting is crazy isn't it? I just want to organize and organize and fold and refold clothes and get Eva's stuff into the big room and fold all the baby stuff perfectly! lolol I am already a nutty organizer person, so this is one step higher - I am putting DH to serious work too! He is assembling bringing stuff down to the garage, bringing stuff up from the garage, just so I can get everything the way I want! I totally agree with your opinion on the career and baby thing....it has become an added pressure on modern women to do that as well...and in the end, I don't think anyone will ever regret doing what makes them happy Have you guys started deciding on names? What are you planning on doing with the sleeping situation? Are you moving matilda or setting up a nursery or cot in your room or in another room?

As for the big bed, DH still has to finish assembling all of the closets but Eva loves that bed - she goes in there to hang out and look at books while DH works, so as soon as it is cleaned up in there (no tools, or screws lying around) I will try to put her in for a nap or a sleep...at least to start playing - I am going to install a big wall mounted mirror with a dress up area, a little desk/toy chest from Ikea (and maybe put her table and chairs in there...)...Once she starts going in there on her own often, I'll tryt o start putting her to bed. I showed her how to get on and off the bed yesterday and she did it like 100 times so I know she is comfortable doing that on her own...I will let her lead and see how fast the transition is based on her.

I'll tryt o post pics soon too so that anyone who wants to see can...I looked at tons of rooms online and in architecture books to get ideas - ikea's website has really cool suggestions too in the children's furniture suggestion sections. You see different room setups so I did find a few cool ideas in there too.

Oh and I am not sure if I mentioned itbut we booked in for our second photo shoot - same photographer who did my preg photos with Eva which I really loved - she will come in and do family and mother/father and Eva shots - and we will choose a print to give to our second daughter as a gift, just like we did for Eva - I feel a lot less sexy and pretty with this pregnancy, but I want to do the same for all of my children, so will try to choose the best possible wardrobe and makeup I can, and pray that photoshop fixes the rest

Ok, going to fold and cook something, then when Eva gets up from her nap, walk in the forest with the dogs then back to the big girl room! I want that room done by tomorrow!

    xoxo

    Hi Girls!

BS - Go Eva! Big girl using the potty I'm sure that your photos for this pregnancy will be as beautiful as the ones from last pregnancy. They were great! Love either Stella Maya or Sofia Maya (or was it Sophie Maya? sorry love both spellings but can't remember which one you preferred). Eva's room sounds like it's going to be gorgeous and I can't wait to see pics. We've got the red plastic Mammut chairs and rectangular table from Ikea, they're cheerful and tough.

Tilda - Those 4:30am wakeups must be hard Hope it is Matilda's molars and that she sleeps later in the day again when they're through. That was really interesting about the big dinner, small breakfast, later wakeup time theory. My boys are both late sleepers and big dinner eaters, maybe there is a connection? Good luck with the childcare search. I don't have much more to add to the advice already given as I don't have any experience with Montessori. Craig was in Family Day Care and it worked well enough for us but we had set pick up and drop off times and our lady wasn't flexible. So this time I've gone with Centre-based care. It's been a lot harder to find places, but both boys seem to really love having lots of kids their own age and I've found they've settled in much quicker, plus I can pick up and drop off when it suits me. How's your neck feeling?

Alison - Good luck with Cutie Hooties, I can't wait for you to go live! You have one customer right here Don't worry about the extra 3kg, you'll be able to lose it after baby number 2 easy enough. I'd love to see a pic of Amelia's new room, how long until you move in to the 'new' place?

Kanda - Congratulations on getting a house! When's the big move? How's the baby bump?

Beany - Must be lovely finally having some cooler weather over there. Poor Michael, sick again. I hadn't realised how healthy the boys had been until we started daycare again and it's already back to green snotty noses. Hope Michael's feeling better soon. Don't worry about Michael being a little rough or aggressive at this age. Just be patient with him and keep gently reminding him to share, be gentle, use your words etc. It's easy to overreact, but I find the best thing is to calmly tell them not to do whatever it was and if things get heated between them and another kid to just remove them.

Hannah - I saw one thread about what Kelly had done and how people felt about it. Hope it doesn't get you too down about this forum. Looks like Kelly's role is changing anyway. You know we love you and will always listen in our little thread here Hope the whole work thing isn't getting you too down and that you can get some more sleep each night.

    How is everyone else?

AFUS - Things are totally crazy here. Since deciding to sell our place we spent ages seriously looking at houses. We've been to the bank and have actually made an offer on a brand new house in a suburb on the Northside. Willow, we're moving to Gungahlin! So now we're madly trying to finish the renos that we started last year. I've been painting, DH has been tiling, plastering, re-installing our built in wardrobes. Our neighbours who are close friends decided to put their house on the market the day after we told them that we had decided to sell. They're in massive debt, so desperately need to sell and they got stuck in and finished their half done renos to get their place on the market this week, beating us. So now we're a little nervous because our suburb went from having only 2 houses for sale to 11 in one week! Our neighbours are going to auction at the end of the month though. To top it off, I go back to work on the 10th of May, around the time we'll be settling on the new house. I managed to get full time childcare for both boys in a centre 2 minutes drive from the new house, which is totally amazing because I didn't have full time places for them in our current suburb. We haven't mentioned anything on fb yet, as we're still waiting for the Bank to let us know how the valuation on our old place went, but things are unlikely to fall through at this stage.

Will keep you girls posted and will try to put up some pics soon.

Wow suz! No wonder you've been MIA!!!!!!!!! Oh man, good luck on the sale, move, renos, new daycare! You've got everything going on at once!

Kanda, I saw about the house too - hope to hear some news soon

Just a quick update! Eva is right now sleeping in her big bed!!!!! DH and I finished putting the furniture together (but not the mirrors and toys etc...) I told DH that I would like to try giving her her milk in that room so he did and put her straight to bed after...she went down, rolled over and fell asleep!!!! Not a single complaint!!!

Only been an hour so let's see what happens when she stirs at night (which she does often) - I'll update tom or Monday on how it goes!

    Xoxo

Update! Great success - Eva slept through without a peep from 8-730!!! I woke up before her and found her sitting in her bed playing with her doll! Yay! I think we will be making the shift!

Yay Eva! Well done BS Looks like you will have no dramas moving Eva in to her big bed. It was such a big deal for us when I was pregnant with Ryan, but Craig wanted to swap as soon as he saw his big boy bed. We could move Ryan now too, but may as well wait until we're in the new house.

Tilda - yes, these have been the worst teeth so far. Usually he's not too bad with teething, but these must be real stubborn ones!! I hope Amelia is sleeping a bit better now.

BS - holey, moley!!!! Well done Eva!! She's moving along at lightening pace! I couldn't imagine even thinking about moving Michael into a big bed yet. Can't wait to see your new photoshoot! I'm sure you will look just as stunning as your last ones

Suz - Wow, good luck with the sale! I really think the market has picked up lately. Well, it has in Perth anyway. Sounds like a lovely place you have made an offer on. Perfect having care just around the corner for them too! Yay!

Alison - whats this about you moving?!! Are you selling your house?

AFM - went to what would have been MIL's 60th birthday yesterday. FIL wanted to have a celebration for it even though she's no longer here. We had a room at an italian restaurant...yummy food! Michael had to go without his nap, so he was pretty cranky. He has a 2nd cousin who is only 2 days only than him, and what a difference - he is so calm and quiet compared to Michael. Michael was wriggling and writhing and whingeing and wouldnt' sit still, wouldn't play with the other kids, just kept wanting to walk all over the place. Was just interesting to see, as I had thought Michael was fairly quiet and calm.

Hi Girls - I'm almost ready to launch Cutie Hooties, had my logo designed and I love it - my sister did the drawing and then got a graphic designer to do it on the computer, my sister is old school artist ha ha. Funny though as this graphic designer told me after I scanned and sent her the drawn pic of what I wanted how clever she is and she wished she could draw like that. Obviously graphic artists aren't what they used to be lol! But she's also helping me do a welcome page etc so just writing a little promo/spiel now. I'm not very good at talking myself up and I'm so scared I'm going to give people high expectations ha ha - but seriously, we will have some great things, as orders come in it will be better as we'll have more pics to put up, for starters I'm just doing one boy one girl so people can get an idea, don't want to go mad if no-one wants them, besides, we are doing custom orders as well so don't want to waste the paper, it's not cheap and I want to keep our prices down so it's affordable to people. So, watch this space, of course my immediate friends (aka you guys) will all get mates rates so don't be shy if you want something!

Hi BS - OMG Eva is such a good girl, sleeping in her big bed all night, how amazing and such a relief for you. I can't wait to see pics of her bedroom, if the rest of your house is anything to go by it's going to be amazing! With the leaf canopy, they had two at the head of the bead an they kind of overlapped each other, one was slightly higher than the other if that makes sense, looked really cool so I'm going to do the same, eventually! Yay on getting more pics, you would look gorgeous in a paper bag so I don't know what you're worried about, looking forward to seeing those too! Thanks for the nice comments about my weight, I guess time has come now so I don't want to risk putting off getting pregnant any longer in case it takes a while, I'm no spring chicken, 38 in June, yikes that's old! Like you said, hopefully I won't put too much on during the pregnancy and can go on a massive really really try hard exercise regime afterwards. My friend did that, waited until she'd had her 2nd, in fact, I saw her today, her youngest just turned 3 and she is looking amazing, the skinniest I have ever seen her and I've been friends with her for 25 years! What an inspiration.

Hi Beany - Amelia's the same, she likes to roam around nowadays, it's a bit of a trick getting her to sit still for too long, I think our little ones are just very inquisitive! How is Michael's sleeping going? I've found since Amelia has been ill on and off (well now touch wood) her sleeping has gone to the dogs. She's been waking at night again, anywhere from 1.30 to 4.00 am and she won't self settle. She calls out for me and if I go in I can resettle her with a 5/10 min cuddle, but if I ignore it she wakes up more and takes an hour to get back to sleep. I'm hoping this is just a stage as it's driving me bonkers! Also, her day sleeps I'm lucky to get 1.5 hours out of her, all my friends bar one kids are having 2-3 hours! What's Michael having on his day sleep? I know they're all different but I find it hard to believe she went from 2 x 1.5 hour sleeps to 1 x 1.5 hour at most....the last 2 days I was out and if I'm not home by 11.00 am she falls asleep in the car or pram and wakes up when I get home, then she only has 30/45 mins max! I wonder if that's contributing to her not sleeping as well at night as she used to. Either way, I hope it ends soon, it's hard juggling a toddler with a broken nights sleep and work and the house duties and trying to get Cutie Hooties up and running ha ha. Welcome to the world of motherhood huh!

Hi Suz - of course we chat on FB all the time but I'm so excited about your house etc. Can't wait to hear that you sold yours for the asking price, or maybe even more, that would be nice! I didn't see the red chairs at Ikea, maybe they've changed colours now, you can get pink or blue. I might go back and get 2 blue ones at some point, they're such a great idea aren't they, easy to clean and sturdy. Amelia quite easily gets on and off without too much hassle.

Hi Everyone else, how are you all? How are your beautiful little kiddies going? Can you believe we're heading to the 18 month mark, my goodness girls, where has time gone, it's actually a bit scary how fast it goes. We're definitely going to start trying for number 2 next month, I'm so darn scared, scared of morning sickness - don't know how I'll cope with that and a toddler AND work, scared of coping, scared of getting fat, scared of going back to 3 hourly feeds, gosh listen to me, should I be doing this, are all these fears normal? lol

Alison - Yippeee! Can't waaaaaaaaaait!! Wow, we are all heading towards 18months...that seemed so far away not long ago. We'll all be in the terrible-twos before we know it! Michael's sleeping is ok, touch wood. Night he'll sleep from about 7 till 6.30am. He might wake once or twice and have a whinge during the night for a minute or so, but then goes straight back off. Naps are a bit hit and miss. Most of the time he'll sleep for at least 1.5 hours (sometimes only an hour), and on the rare occassion it can be 2.5 hours. He had a 3 hour one a couple of weeks ago - obviously a never-to-be-repeated event. (ETA - just to prove me wrong, he's just done it again! ) He never really had long naps when he was on 2. Some times it was only 2 naps of 30 mins...so I guess its not really that much difference between 2 naps and 1 nap. And I think those fears about having a 2nd are totally normal! Well, I have them also at least I forget just how bad it was in terms of sleep deprivation in those first few months. But at least we know it does get better, so hopefully it won't hit us so hard this time?? I hope not anyway!

BS - I just wanted to ask...when you put Eva to bed, does she play around for a while before she goes to sleep? I'm just thinking if I were to try Michael in a big bed, I think he would mess around/climb out/back in/get stuck half-way, etc, etc. There's no way he'd just roll over and stay that way. How do everyone elses bubs sleep? Do they stay in the same position, or are they all over the place still?

Hi Beany - just sneaking in a quick post whilst at work oooh aaah Thanks for the info on Michael's sleeping, perhaps it's just a stage/phase that she goes through every now and then, it always seems to be after she's had an illness, I guess I just have to break the settling cycle....oddly and greatly enough she slept straight through from 7pm to 6.30 am last night, typical as it's Paul's turn to get up as I have work today. She did have a little whinge for a minute but she went back to sleep on her own, yay! I think I just have to be harder and let her cry it out a bit! I hope she continues it as she used to be like this all the time unless she's sick or teething. It's always changing isn't it. And as for the big bed stuff, no way would Amelia stay in a bed right now, she tosses and turns so much in her sleep, there's no way I could even put her under a blanket as she'd end up with it wrapped around her, over her head, not on her, you name it! Grobags are the only thing we can use right now. In her day sleeps I just put a light sheet over if needs be but she always wakes up without it because she does 360's in the cot. It's funny you mentioned it because I've been wondering how you make the transition from Grobag to blanket etc when they go into a big bed. I just bought the next size up Grobag, it's 18 months to 36 months and it's massive, probably the length of the cot! But the size she's in now is too small and I think it might be contributing to her waking as she has no room to move in it. That would annoy me personally! xx

Suz, I think it is def better to wait - The move will already be a lot of change, so best to get him into his new bed after you guys settle in the new place When is that scheduled for?

Beany, isn't it funny how we see our children slightly clearer when we see other children I never thought eva was so calm until I put her in daycare and saw her next to my friend's baby who is three weeks younger...I then realized what a calm baby I have! We get used to our own and they are perfect the way they are!

Alison, I am hoping I can do what your friend did - I am planning a serious diet after this birth - I plan on taking the three months after the birth to just be easy and go for walks and eat well since we will be in the mountains at DH's chindhood house, but once I get back hom in September, it will be back to training hard core - If the baby is easier than Eva was - with her reflux, I could not get any time to myself...Hoping that at least this baby is a bit easier in the first 6 months...but honestly I would take a difficult baby again to have a nice toddler like Eva come out of it As for grobags, funny you use those because Eva moves a lot too, and she hates grobags, they get all stuck on her sholders and limit her space for her legs to move...

As for Eva moving in bed - she moves a ton...Beany, I tried Eva for a nap and she did play a bit in bed and eventually got out, so I waited half an hour and put her into her crib and then she went to sleep, but she talks herself or her dolls to sleep usually...so it works super well at night but not yet successful for a nap - I will try again this WE.....she def moves around a ton - I just lay her down at the head of the bed where she has a barrier (I will post pics in a bit so you can see how I set up her bed) - I usually put her down regular and find her with her head down or against the barrier or wall, so she def moves a lot. I just try to keep the room a nice temp since I know blankets don't serve their purpose with her! She knows how to get off the bed with no prob on her own, but I think that for her when she sleeps, she doesn't really want to go walk around since I egenrally put her down when she is tired and almost at the same time every night...she just sort of lays there and falls asleep, sometimes she just whines for a second when she hears us leave the room but then she just goes off on her own...for naps I will have to try this weekend (what is nice is that she is napping at daycare this week so by the weekend she would have slept a whole week in her big bed (nights) - so I will see if this We she will also stay in for naps...I made the mistake of putting her down a tad too early for the nap so she did play in her bed and then came out of the room...I will try to put her down a bit later this WE....

Let me get some pics online and I'll be right back to post them

Here are some pics of her room - keep in mind the wall stuff is not done - I am not sure what I will keep - maybe those orchids but not sure...I also have decals to put up and am toying with the idea of doing one wall in wallpaper....her room seems so big since all of the furniture is so small and low but in about a year and a half baby2 is joining her in there She has a dressing area with the mirror and I put up some cute hooks to hang her jackets and stuff - she has her dress up box there too...Then the bed, a toy chest and some toys, ipod dock for music, nightlight and baby monitor - it is all pretty cool and simple - I would like to change the chair eventually - the chair and flower painting are leftover from our guestroom...but we are happy to have the base down and we will figure out the rest as we go. My fave thing is def the fab closets - I love that new line from ikea and her stuff is sooooo organized and easily visible now:

Oh BS - I am loving your pics. Eva's room is to die for, it's absolutely gorgeous, the leaf canopy looks fantastic and I just love the beautiful bright colours, what a lucky girl. I can't even get Amelia to use a pillow, she hates them, although I haven't tried a toddler size one, I don't even know where to buy one, all the ones I've seen are teeny ones and too high! Anyone know actually? And your preggie pics are beautiful, you really look fantastic, I'm not sure what you're worried about, I think I will look massive everywhere, you just have a bump and that's it. Gorgeous! Kind of makes me want one, if I can just get past the fear of morning sickness again........... xx

Alison, Eva does not sleep with a pillow, I use it to prop her up for her bottle sometimes (I am getting her used to taking it herself before baby gets here) and she uses it when she "reads"...her large comforter and pillow go into the chest while she sleeps, she just loves the fluffiness when she plays in there...I will only really start using the comforter when it gets cold, for the moment it is nice and warm here so it is too warm for that - I still use her cotton crib blanket to make the tranisition easier...

Ikea has diff height pillows, low, mid and high, so you can try tstarting with a low toddler pillow...I got eva a mid size one, but she already has a low one from the baby pillows at ikea and it is almost flat, just gives a little pad to rest on.

Thanks for the compliments on my fat behind I just feel worn down this time around and my skin and hair are not as nice, so I think it is in the head...I just forgot what I feel like thin already! You were also all bump when you were carrying Amelia, we just always think we look fat!

I didn't realise they did pillows as well, best go back there then, what a shame!

I think I will be more than just bump next time around, I am already a good 3 kgs heavier than when I fell pregnant with Amelia, actually, I already look pregnant some days lol. xx

Same as me - with this preg I had a ton of extra weight, but it is worth it - and for the MS, I really found that all of my symptoms this time around - I never had bad MS but had nausea and fatigue and breast pain - were a LOT less this time - on the other hand, I felt heavier more muscle pain, but it might be because I am carrying around a 10 kilo toddler and not sleeping as much too! Don't stress about that, it is worth it and it will be over so fast. Look how much they grew up - and how fast that went...The second time around you deal with it better because you know how it goes

Hahaha! Like I needed to give you a reason to go back to Ikea!!!

At least you have age on your side BS, I'm 38 this year, harder to shift when you're old lol - gone are the days of doing a few weeks of exercise and it's gone! lol

I'm hoping you're right re morning sickness, I shouldn't complain, I didn't vomit but I did have 24 hour nausea which at times was very bad, I did live of anti-nausea tabs so who knows if I hadn't had those maybe I would've been vomiting. I have a vomiting phobia so I try to avoid it like the plague! ha ha.....A friend of mine who is very to the point told me that I will be the same if not worse next time the other day, I was like, oh gee thanks for that, now I feel really confident! I'm actually thinking of visiting my naturopath to see if there's something I can start doing to help keep it at bay, my pregnancy aqua teacher said she did the same (she's on her 4th pregnancy) and had no nausea this time around. That would be nice! Like you said, it does go quick, I just remember how much it dragged at the time with Amelia, gosh I felt like death at one point and just didn't think I'd ever get through it, goodness knows how I'd go dealing with work and a toddler and feeling like that! We shall see how, maybe I can talk myself into not feeling sick this time, I do believe you can talk yourself into and out of things, positive thinking they call it, let's see if it works!!!!

HI girls, popping in again to see if I can get a decent post in for once.

Alison Don't listen to your friend about the MS, I had MS with DS1 for about 2 months pretty gross for a while too, threw up in a bin at the mall one day But with DS2 none at all! It was great!! Preg symptoms are not really something that get worse with each one, they're all different.

Oh I swear I can't get a break! Harry is calling better go, I'll get a proper post one day *sigh...

    Hi Willow!

I agree ALison, from everyone I have talked to, I hjave heard that every preg is totally diff...I agree...With Eva no hair loss, great skin (although massive breakouts in the forst three months), boob pain, nausea, and fatigue like nothing I have ever felt in my life....with this one, I had no breakouts at first but now my skin is irritated and dry, my hair was falling out until recently, I was a lot less tired in the beginning, almost no boob pain, and very little nausea and only with strong smells or when I was really hungry at the beginning.

So don't let anyone tell you how it will be, you can't know. Maybe it will be worse, maybe so easy you won't believe it, but just don't let that block you from being excited to have a second Just look at Amelia and imagine how worth it that was to have her. I think it is mental too, and you will be so busy with Amelia that you won't feel the bad stuff (as well as it going by SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fast the second time around - I did not notice the weeks fly by!).

    xoxo
