Hi Hope everyone is well! We are weaning off being swaddled for sleeps. Leaving one arm unwrapped for day naps. Tried going cold turkey but after 45mins I gave in and wrapped with one arm out. Seems to be a good compromise for the time being I've just started using coconut oil on Emily's head for her cradle cap. DH hates it lol, but it seems to be working. Need to get a soft bristle brush to brush it out. I'm down to pumping once per day, I usually try do it last thing before bed so I'm not waking in the night full and sore!
Peeks - I have tried to stop swaddling, but I too have given in. I know I have to try as he has almost grown out of his ergo swaddles. I have loved using them, but he looks like a sausage in them now
Tasha - Nice to hear from you. I often think of you and how your going.
Andie - Glad all is going well.
Hi to everyone else.
AFM - I go back to work in 2 weeks Jack is booked into day care and I have been preparing him by getting him in a good day routine. We were winging it for ages, however he was only sleeping in weird blocks and not long enough. So now he has proper sleeps during the day with a couple of power naps. It so much easier. He is teething at the moment which is making him a bit grizzly and clingy but we are coping. He is still the sweetest baby and I love him more and more. I feel like a mum now. Its taken a while which surprised me. I bonded straight away and loved him straight away, but I felt like I was playing house with him and I should be at work lol. Now I feel like a mum and its awesome.
peeks & vic - are you weaning off swaddling in preparation for when they roll etc? (im assuming it becomes a risk then?). just wondering if this is something I should be thinking about soon. my little guy still loves being wrapped up, although occasionally when I get him up he has worked his hands free anyway.
vic - please tell me how you managed to get jack to have a decent sleep during the day, my little guy still naps 30-40mins. and feeds 2-2.5 hourly all day. so he's having around 6-7 feeds per day, so 4-5 naps of 30-40mins. id love a 2 hour block. just one per day would be awesome. or even 1.5 hour block.
im using coconut oil for cradle cap atm too, its quite a strong smell & sticks around for a lot longer than the olive oil, my little guy smells like a chocolate crackle! things are going ok here, he has started waking at 1.30/2am now which is a bit of a shock after sleeping from 9/9.30pm-6am. not sure if he's waking bc he'h hungry (I feed him anyway), or bc he's too hot/cold etc. his routine now is bed at 8.30/9pm, wake at 1.30/2am for feed & back in bed, then sleep until 9am. its not too bad, just wish he'd find his overnight sleep pattern again. hip scan was all good, no need for a brace which was a relief. scan was quite traumatic bc he cried the whole time, haven't heard him cry like that before
trying to decide whether to put his cot in our room, or put him in his own room soon... he hasn't got much more room in his basket so im going to have to decide soon. not sure im ready for him to be in his own room yet... he still seems so small.
