Babies Born ~ June 2012 #1
Hi ladies, sorry have been MIA - we are home and DD2 is doing much better. I have had a lovely virus thanks to hospital so am completely over being sick!
Worst part of hospital though was the impact on my milk- she couldn't feed for two days and expressing didn't work after one day (apparently stress kills your ability to express!) and my supply is no where near recovered.
Sleep is OK, she feeds every 2-3 hours still but generally goes straight back to sleep. Tiring part is having three kids three and under! No sleep during the day and as I now have no help from any of the grandparents now my Mum is working fulltime (thanks for telling me Mum you wouldn't help me (paid by us) two days a week anymore when DD2 was six days old) I get a bit tired and have no time to get on a computer anymore :(
Re:vaccinations, I know some parents here are doing them at 6-8 weeks.
Sorry for me post, am on the mobile feeding in the dark do close to impossible to do persies!
BTW - I know we aren't supposed to care m, but how are you all feeling about your bodies after bubs? - mine is OK except I am bigger than the first two bubs which is expected given I couldn't walk for. 2-3 months but annoying regardless!!!

Hi Geeky, I am so sorry to hear how tough it has been for you all. It is heartbreaking when they are obviously unsettled and it feels like there is nothing you can do. Infacol fron the chemist and coles is good once bubs are one month old before every feed can help with wind (it has an active ingredient which helps bind air bubbles together to help bring up after a feed), and time of course. If bubs is regularly in pain and awake for hours each day, please go and see a doctor as it could easily be reflux which is causing pain, or as you have already Thought about, be An intolerance to something you are eating.
With this in mind, something i have found helpful is to use my phone/iPad/computer or little exercise book to keep track of when bubs feeds-when she's awake/crying etc. I know this may be impossible as it's another thing you have to do, but it's a good way to see of there is a pattern and also help you keep track of how long this is lasting for as days can seem like an eternity when you are so exhausted.
Sometimes of course it's just a matter of time, but doing something practical to help you get through this very challenging time I found helpful.
Regardless of any of the above, I am really sorry it's been so rough and hope that you all get some peaceful rest very soon and am here to support you :)

BTW - don't think twice about a dummy - we have become obsessed with trying to avoid anything that our child later on won't need but it is a very natural comforter for bubs to want to suck and seems cruel to not give it to them if it helps them get some sleep. All babies are different :)
My DS wouldn't take a dummy, had horrendous reflux from birth soinstead I gave him a bunny rattle comforter (bribe and country road both sell them as a standard toy) which is suitable from birth. He and my DD1 both sleep with them every night and I highly recommend a comforter like them you can give them every time they go to sleep which are safe from birth.

Geeky - my my DD2 has oral thrush, and Inhave ductl thrush - started on daktarin and she's on nilstat as of Thursday night. Another joy of breastfeeding! Hope yours/bubs symptoms settle very soon xx
Lulu - we went to Dora too, my DD loved it but I wish they hadn't had an interval to drag it out longer than it needed to be ;)
Also very much agree with worrying about things that might happen later with things like dummies if they help bubs get through the tough part of being a newborn.
Bubba - have had a few friends do family daycare, they loved the flexibility. Sorry don't know anything about becoming registered though.
Better go back to sleep! Bubs is still very good, is windy tonight but it doesn't upset her, it's still early so we could be starting wind issues, but I don't have to burp her at all, she just burps and farts away on her own which makes looking after her very easy, I say quietly to avoid jinxing myself!
