CT - nope I'm sitting on the couch on a Sat night myself. Given my DP a 'leave pass' tonight (Lol) since he has been such an angel to me the past two nights in helping with the night feeds AND did my housework today since I wasn't well today and the place was a pigsty!! Bless him. With all the drama's with your mum I bet you are hanging out to set off to QLD!

Dummies - my X doesn't seem to be a huge fan of the dummy, so in a way I think thats a good thing. If he gets really unsettled (& its not feed time) he will take it but once he has calmed himself he just spits it out.

AFM, My little man's vomiting (or possetting) seems to have settled right down, thankfully. Even though it didn't seem to affect him, I hated to see him spit up all the time! X is still a little night owl, which is frustrating. I was doing a bit of research today (google, haha) into sleep patterns with babies, and got some helpful tips which I am going to try. FX they work. I'll be happy to get 3-4hrs of sleep periods, rather than the 2 he seems to be doing! I really shouldn't complain about lack of sleep, I take my hat off to you 2nd time mumma's! Its not like you get to catch up on your sleep during the day with toddlers to chase around!

Hi to everyone else! I was going to catch up on persies, but can't get my brain around it all and think I best get myself off to bed now that my little man has crashed! Cant have him getting a head start on me, haha!

Have a lovely sunday all xx

I'm on BB now because if I don't step away from DD3 for a minute to get a break from the screaming in my ear I'm going to do something I shouldn't. She is such an unhappy poppet and has been for about 9 hours now. I hate leaving her crying but at the moment its for her own good to be out of my arms. DH is working (has been since 9am) so its just me and three girls all testing me in their own way. I soooooooo wish I wasn't breastfeeding right at this moment - a glass of wine (or is that bottle???) is looking oh so very good.

I hope your Saturday nights are all a whole lot better than mine ;-)

Ct glad you are feeling better about everything. It helps when you get that brush off sometimes doesn't it lol

Mchope not sure if you already do it but we don't close DS curtains day or night. That way he can see its dark, we also do all night feeds in the dark so he doesn't think it's playtime, those are some of the things we have done that may help.

On phone so can't remember back further than that. We are in a great place now (almost feel guilty putting that) X is sleeping great0

Oops wrong button, so yeah sleeping great and no sign of wind anymore. He has hit that wonder week but isn't particularly clingy or anything, just being an adorable baby. I think I have solved the dummy problem so we are all good. We have sleep/settling class this week and 6 wk vaccinations on Thurs.

Hope you are all well and happy

Lulu: good on you for stepping away. That's a strong thing to do and a sign of a good mum
Is she colicky? Hope she has settled for you now

Mc_hope: similar to what bubbaT said. At the hospital one if the midwifes said to keep it bright during the day and dark at night. We leave curtains etc open for her day sleeps and at night we just use lamps, so dim light and then obviously dark when we sleep. She seems to be starting to get the hang of it. Also try and get a routine for night. I find that helps.

CT: that's good the nurses visit was positive for you. It's reassuring sometimes when they aren't fussed is his vomitting improving?

BubbaT: don't feel bad saying you guys are in a good place! I'm happy for you. X is a great bubba and you must be chuffed good work with the dummy. How'd you do it?

Afm: what a night last night! We were at a big anniversary party and it was loud and busy. MIL took her so I could eat, but I saw she started getting passed to extended family. That and every second person looking, touching, cooing etc. Poor Muffet was gawking at everything!! Anyways I said to MIL I need to feed her. She says oh if she goes over that's good! I said no because this LO will just want to make up her missed feeds tonight...anyway eventually reclaim my child
Get dh so I can feed in the car. Pop her on, she's feeding as per normal until she comes off. Then she vomits! Like half her stomach contents! Luckily I had a towel under her. Poor thing is soaked. I'm trying to move her when wham rest of contents come up! We had to come home and change her (and me). She's never done it before!!
Does anyone know if overstimulation can do that?
Even when we went back to say goodbye she was gawking and wouldn't sleep.
She's been sleeping ok so far tonight though...

Ahh, sleep deprivation is starting to make me go really spacey.... let's see what I can remember

LULU - well done! I know I hate hearing them cry too, but sometimes it's for the greater good. I hope she settled soon and you got some peace.

    Bubba - awesome!!!

Little O - not sure if overstimilation can do it, but I presume so? I mean toddlers can vomit if they are way too tired and over it. God for you on reclaiming your baby. Being a mumma is tough sometimes and having to stand up to people can be tricky if you don't want to start WW3.

MC - not sure... we've not sorted out night and day here, though there might be a shift slowly. Or maybe we just have a night owl. I am SUPER anxious about having to do all the running after a turbo toddler and take care of a newborn when DH goes back to work. Already it happens, I just settle down to fed and HB says "big wee wee, or big poo poo", or has a stack...etc. For somethings RB will just have to wait and big sis toilet is one of them.

Milly - ha, we had two stops on the side of the road both ways - one for wees and one for poos each time. It is not pleasant with trucks zooming by, although HB loved it! But I am impressed that she didn't have any accidents. She's not yet 2, as is your DD1. I never ended up trying EC but wanted to. Ha you are the devil incarnate you attachment parent you - co sleeping, baby wearing....... I say whatever works provided it's not harmful. I am still grieving the changes in my relationship with HB. This morning when I went into to her she said "no out mummy". Of course a flood of tears ensued, and I did go out as it was time for RB to feed. Dh says she was saying she was going out of her room, I am not so sure. Guess with more sleep I will toughen up. LOL. Or not.

BR - hope things are sorting out for you.

Sunshine - hugs to you and your co hort. Hope you're out of hossy soon and back to normal living.

CT - glad the cat fight in Jesse's tummy stopped! Glad you got some reassurance about the vomiting/pooing. Ahh, DH's NEVER understand..... until they have to do it themselves... wait til Jesse is a toddler and it's his turn to get up in the night....... sweet revenge. I actually used to resent my DH, a LOT, for getting sleep. But mine was pretty helpful too with HB when she was little. I think with RB he's only changed about 10 nappies in total since she was born. The thing that's hard this time is he's busy with HB so I do EVERYTHING with RB... whereas first time around we shared nappy changes, settling, bathing, etc. Oh well.

Well, the night owl continues here. No chances for sleeps during the day. I think I am just going to learn to push through or cat nap. It is harder and easier at the same time. I have to go and put away some washing. We are going away for a few nights, will be interesting.

    Hi Mummies!

I think we're hitting the wonder week, very unsettled little baby here! Fell asleep in his daddy's arms tonight cos he just wouldn't with me (I think cos he could smell milk even though he's been nursed and is full).

Dory - totally hear you re the relationship changing with your eldest. I'm struggling a little too, DH is doing everything for DS1 when he is around, but he is also getting frustrated because DS1 has hit the terrible twos. So I have to hand DS2 to DH and try to deal with DS1. DS1 asks for 'mummy cuddle' as soon as he sees me nursing DS2. So yeah I know how you are feeling. Definitely mourning the 'loss' of the old family unit especially during this intense time. I know it will get better, when DS2 is older and the boys can play and interact together and entertain each other.

Anyhoo, DS2 is sleeping for up to 4 hrs at night which is great. Still tired but coping. DS1 is at daycare 3 days a week which gives me one on one time with DS2.

    Take care all xoxoxox

dory - geez its hard when you can't sleep because of No 1 isn't it. try to cat nap if you can - every little bit helps I think. I've certainly noticed over the last week that the lack of sleep is really starting to catch up on me. gotta try to get some day time snoozes in but E and I home on holidays.

BR - poo to wonder weeks. I hope L's idea of a "week" is only a few days.

Things improving here overnight. A seems to be in a bit of a routine and wakes for a feed at about 9.30 pm and is then going a good 5 hours before her next feed. Only problem is that she stirs a lot so while I'm not feeding, I'm still getting woken. At least she settles again with a few rocks/jiggles of the hammock. We had a great day today too with her being very settled and lots of sleeping. Big change from the last few days so I think we're just coming out of a wonder week. Crossing everything it continues - off to the zoo with my girls tomorrow

Hugs to everyone who needs them. Sorry for lack of persies, I just don't have anything I can say that is of any use.

We are off to sleep & settling class run by my council today, not that DS is having issues but thought it might help for when he is having a bad day. Vaccinations on Thursday and 6 week check up on Friday. Then next week is hearing test for DS and my follow up Glucose tolerance test on Tuesday. For a perfectly healthy mum and bub that's a lot of appointments lol.

    Have a great day all

Goodness Bubba, X is 6 weeks already? Where has the time gone??

Lulu - glad you have a more settled baby now. L is still a bit unsettled today but better than yesterday. Took DS1 to the park this morning to wear him out. Was babywearing L in the bjorn carrier and he slept the entire time. Now both boys are napping and I'm enjoying some mummy time and having a salad and watching some day time tv.

Question: for BFing mamas, how long is your baby nursing for? L is down to 10mins on one side and only takes one side per session. He seems REALLY full after nursing and burping so I'm reluctant to offer the other side in case of vomiting cos he's too full.

    Thanks mamas!

Bubba - are you serious ?? your littleman is 6 weeks already ????geez. that was super fast. I am petrified of the immunisations to come. I opted for Vitamin K to be given orally and ditched the Hep B injection until he is 6 weeks. I just couldnt bring myself to agree to getting him jabbed as soon as he entered the world. He will need all the immunisations for sure if we are going to go back to Turkey to live but just couldnt do it straight up. I am sure I am going to be a n absolute basket case when it comes time for it. I am sure you will all think I am way too soft but it just seemed so mean. Poor little lodger.

Little_O - He only vomitted like crazy the one time and the cats have stopped so maybe it was the prunes I was eating???? I ate ALOT of prunes in 2 days. Couldnt stop myself. I love them.

Sunshine - are you home yet?? is everything ok now?? thinking of you.

AFM - we left the house today for the first time since coming home from hospital. It was nerve racking. We had some screaming for a little bit but then he just slept the whole day pretty much. phew. i am knackered now though. Gonna eat and go to bed. Luckily J had a good night last ngiht and woke at 11:30pm, 2;30am and 5;15am for feeds so i got some decent sleep in.Fingers crossed tonight is the same.

well, gotta go. mum is home and need to eat so i can go to bed.

    Hello all!

I started to write the ther day then the ipad lost the lot, and there was a lot and I've been too annoyed to bother since then! But I'll try again now and see how we go!

CT - glad you got some reassurance the other day, the first few days at home can be so daunting! I think you asked about vasospasm, it's when your blood vessels constrict and reduce blood flow to an area, probably most common in fingers and toes on really cold days, you know how (on some people, like me!) they can go white and then as they warm up and the blood starts to circulate again it's really painful. Well it's that but in my nipples, so yeah, great for bfing in winter! Ouchy. Mental note, any future babies will be summer babies! Glad your day out went well!

Bubba - glad that things have settled and are going well for you now, you deserve it!

Lulu - how was your trip to the zoo? Sounds like fun!

BR - 10 mins!!! I wish, J is such a slow feeder. I wonder if it's partly because of my supply issues?? His attachment has been better (less ouchy) since his tongue tie was cut but he's not getting any quicker. We still take at least 30 mins per feed, then the top up, then I express. It's like a never ending cycle.

AFM - so, yeah, still battling the bfing issues. It's exhausting. But J put on 130 grams in the last 6 days so at least i know we're getting somewhere. I do wonder how long I can keep it up for though. Everyone keeps telling me it'll be easier after 6 weeks so I'm hoping and praying it will be or I think I'll be a basket case! Sleeping pretty well at nights, usually a feed around midnight, then 4 or 5 and he goes straight back to sleep after each of themthank goodness. Still not much of a day sleeper unless he's attached to one of us. He's lovley and alert and much happier than he was but yeah, sleep is not his
stong suit. I have to say I'm blessed with a pretty cool MIL who is with us at the moment and doing lots of useful cooking, cleaning and baby nursing.

Hello to all the other mummies out there, hope all is well for you and your little ones.

J is doing both sides in about half an hour plus a nappy chnage between sides. sometimes does both breasts and sometimes only 1 and a half...sometimes it takes longer just depends how sleepy he is.

CT - glad you had a good first outing and hopefully the good sleeps for you will continue. And no, I don't think you're soft I hate taking my girls for their vax and I stress for a good while watching for reactions after. I believe they're a necessary evil but they're still evil!

BubbaT - that IS heaps of appts. Just as well you're not sick! Ihope they all go well.

BR - Miss A is still very hit and miss with feeding times. She usually takes both sides for 5-6 minutes each but if she's sleepy it can take sooooooooo long. Great work getting both your little men sleeping at the same time - now that is a skill!!

Hotaru - sorry to hear the feeding is still tough. It does get easier so hang in there if you can. Great that you have a good MIL - you must be the one ;-)

Am I right in that you are all having 6 week vax's for your bubs? My baby book says 2, 4 and 6 months. Very odd that it would be different.

Had a good day at the zoo yesterday. Miss A slept most of the time. Miss E had a ball and was in such a good mood. Miss I was split between god girl and monster girl. She is definitelt going through a defiant stage and I really don't like it!! Having a quiet day at home today.

    Have a good one mamas
