CT - glad you had a good first outing and hopefully the good sleeps for you will continue. And no, I don't think you're soft I hate taking my girls for their vax and I stress for a good while watching for reactions after. I believe they're a necessary evil but they're still evil!
BubbaT - that IS heaps of appts. Just as well you're not sick! Ihope they all go well.
BR - Miss A is still very hit and miss with feeding times. She usually takes both sides for 5-6 minutes each but if she's sleepy it can take sooooooooo long. Great work getting both your little men sleeping at the same time - now that is a skill!!
Hotaru - sorry to hear the feeding is still tough. It does get easier so hang in there if you can. Great that you have a good MIL - you must be the one ;-)
Am I right in that you are all having 6 week vax's for your bubs? My baby book says 2, 4 and 6 months. Very odd that it would be different.
Had a good day at the zoo yesterday. Miss A slept most of the time. Miss E had a ball and was in such a good mood. Miss I was split between god girl and monster girl. She is definitelt going through a defiant stage and I really don't like it!! Having a quiet day at home today.
Have a good one mamas
Yay just did an update on my ipad and now I can reply again! Yay! Will be on tomorrow for some long overdue persies.
Night lovely mummas!
Lulu my book says 2 mths too but in Vic they brought it forward to 6wks cause of the whooping cough epidemics, I imagine anywhere between 6wks - 2 mths would be ok.
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks BubbaT
Thanks for your response with regards to breastfeeding times. L is a super awesome sucker. Like holy moly I can feel it right high up in my boob when he latches and sucks like his life depends on it. I have a great supply and he's gaining well so I'm not worried about him only having one side at a time. I just think he has the hang of this breastfeeding malarkey and has become a very efficient nurser
Went to the movies with L today. Good to get out, he slept while I was babywearing him, he woke once to nurse then had a look around for a while then back off to sleep again.
xoxoxox
Hi ladies, sorry have been MIA - we are home and DD2 is doing much better. I have had a lovely virus thanks to hospital so am completely over being sick!
Worst part of hospital though was the impact on my milk- she couldn't feed for two days and expressing didn't work after one day (apparently stress kills your ability to express!) and my supply is no where near recovered.
Sleep is OK, she feeds every 2-3 hours still but generally goes straight back to sleep. Tiring part is having three kids three and under! No sleep during the day and as I now have no help from any of the grandparents now my Mum is working fulltime (thanks for telling me Mum you wouldn't help me (paid by us) two days a week anymore when DD2 was six days old) I get a bit tired and have no time to get on a computer anymore
Re:vaccinations, I know some parents here are doing them at 6-8 weeks.
Sorry for me post, am on the mobile feeding in the dark do close to impossible to do persies!
BTW - I know we aren't supposed to care m, but how are you all feeling about your bodies after bubs? - mine is OK except I am bigger than the first two bubs which is expected given I couldn't walk for. 2-3 months but annoying regardless!!!
Sunshine I feel ok about mine, I weigh less than before pg but definately saggier in the tummy region. I hate my CS scar but that's only cause I have overhang. I guess I am not hugely bothered as I was overweight beforehand. Maybe it will inspire me to get fit again
Sunshine - i am not overly impressed with my body. I am ok with it but only because I will get exercising as soon as I can and hopefully get it back to what it was )or close to). The worst thing is that my boobs are ginormous!! when the milk came in they got bigger! and when Jesse was born, my body got smaller so they really stand out alot more now. Got fitted yesterday for a feeding bra.......8HH !!!! I was an E before pregnancy and was so self conscious about that! Now i look at my old bras and they look teeny tiny. I would be alot happier in an underwire bra, thats for sure.
Bubba - I am not fond of my cs scar either. I feel, well, scared! I am hoping it shrinks as to me it looks huge! and am hoping my wobbly abdomen tightens up again.....does it tighten up again ?!?!?! god i hope so!!
Glad you are all better now Sunshine. What a run of bad luck you lot have had. Nice one, by your mother. Nothing like family being dependable! pah!
Gaahh !! gone and done it again...I cant scroll back and see earlier posts! Sorry for missing people. I know there was stuff I wanted to reply to but for the life of me cant remember off the top of my head........
AFM - Feeling very sleep deprived these last 2 days. I have felt pretty good til now but the last couple of nights I am falling asleep as soon as J starts feeding adn waking up later with both of us konked out and then I dont know how much he drank before falling asleep and then I mess up which boob and when!! DH is really annoying me today. HE sleeps all night and then I get up after the last feed at 6ish and make a cup of tea and he decides he needs to go to the toilet (code for 'cigarette!) and I have to hold Jesse and put my tea down before I have even started it !! GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR I wanted to punch him in the head. Oh, and he is having a nap on the couch as I type ITS 8:30AM !!!!!! He did come back and take Jesse and change his nappy but if he doesnt go back to sleep within 10 minutes of DH trying, he comes back to me.
I think there will be a new rule in the house. After the last feed of the night, DH can do the burping, changing and putting off to sleep!! Time to make a stand I say!!!
CT
Sunshine - I'm glad you're home but it sounds like you've had a tough time. I home your supply is back on track soon so you can get longer between feeds and at least get some sleep at night. I hear you on the other kids to care for. Mine are older than yours, but the lack of ability to sleep during the day is so hard.
I'm actually feeling great about my body. Pregnancy is a fantastic diet for me. Feeling so sick for 9 months I can't exercise at all but I also don't put on weight. I only put on 0.5kgs and then had a near on 4kg baby so I am now 12kgs lighter than I was when I conceived. Still got a way to go to where I would like to be but I'm determined to get exercise this time so hopefully its a good head start that won't go to waste. The only downside is that I don't have any clothes that fit, but given I'm still losing weight I really don't want to buy new ones and have them not fit in a couple of weeks (wishful thinking???) so I'm getting sick of wearing the same couple of things over and over again.
BR - what movie did you go to see? We went a couple of weeks ago before school holidays started and it was so nice to be out. Definitely sounds like L is an efficient little booby monster. I wish A was!
CT - can you feel a difference in either breast after you've had a "mystery boob" feed? If you can't, it probably doesn't really matter which one you use, as if there isn't enough there then J will let you know and want the other one anyway. Back in the good old days before smart phone apps I had a couple of friends who would put a scrunchy on the wrist of the boob they were feeding from as a reminder. Try to get some sleep during the day if you're starting to feel it, but also try to get outside in the fresh air for some portion of the day too, even if its just with J in a carrier or in the pram and you doze on a chair outside. Bugger about your DH. I think we all have moments like that with our nearest and dearest!!
I'm feeling pretty tired this week too. My girls are home on school holidays and its definitely got pros and cons. Great thing is I'm not having to get everyone organised and out the door in the morning, but the flip side is there is no time for even resting, let alone sleeping during the day, and the amount of mess they are making is enormous. Going to send them outside to play today and hopefully get stuck into the housework - have DD1's school friends coming over for a play day tomorrow so I'd better make the house look at least a little respectable.
Lulu I hope you can manage to get at least a hot cup of tea or something if not a nap!
CT my DH was supposed to do the dream feed at 11pm every night for the last week. Last night was the first time he remembered to stop playing his computer game and do it so I don't have to get up at 3am for a feed. Then DS woke anyway and proceeded to wake about 10 times between 330am and 7am Gah! so I feel your pain.
We Had vaccinations this morning and DS did great falling asleep straight after them, a change and a feed and he actually is sleeping! This is like a miracle at the moment. Day sleep has been very elusive and I think I may have been short changing him on the food as DS drank 175 mls instead of the normal 125mls. So I think I might need to up his bottles and see how much he is wanting. Ok I am off to do some more housework while he is sleeping
Bubba - 175mls is impressive I have the 260ml (we use Avent for formula bottles), that way the bubbas could have as much or as little as they wanted. Don't you love the little lips though when they have had enough, nothing will get through them!
I found that my bublets actually slept really well after the first vaccinations, so hope that is the same for youMy DH also does the dreamfeeds, but I was kind to him and let him do it at 10:30pm. He's such a night owl anyway so it seemed like a good deal. I am doing all the feeds at the moment given I am BF'ing a lot more this time, but am keen to express for the dreamfeed so that I can again enjoy some sleep more than three hours straight, but it really doesn't bother me at the moment as I know this doesn't last forever and DD2 is MUCH easier than my DS was.
Lulu - I know what you mean about there being pros and cons about the little people being in school. My DD1 is at daycare three days a week and apparently I am the only person capable of getting her dressed and ready on top of feeding DD2 and getting DS his breaky etc, so I know what you mean about it being a bit more relaxing NOT to have to race around in the morning, even though of course this means no sleep during the day.
I have to laugh at your 'mystery boob' comment, how often each day do you find yourself randomly grabbing your boob to work out which one is up next!
CT - Don't you love how DH's lives change so much after bubs NOT! I love hearing about how tired my DH is, I am always sympathetic, because he does have a stressful job, but at least at night he gets to go to sleep ALL night. We also have a rule of one weekend morning sleep in for both of us. This means I know I get one sleep in a week. Hard of course with Bfing, but it means that even if I feed, DH then takes over and I can go back to sleep.
AFM - Nothing exciting, DD2 is doing all the things she is supposed to, so easy I hardly notice her. I feel completely and utterly in love with her, which didn't have any where near as quickly with the other two. She's completed our family and I no longer feel like there is a little soul out there waiting to join us (which is ironic given she was a natural miracle and I still have four frozen embryos out there...
BTW My Mum called for the first time since my DD2 was admitted to hospital - I didn't answer as I have nothing to say to her, am so angry that she ditched helping me and now wants to pretend she is interested in seeing her grandkids. She didn't come into hospital (or call) because she 'sick' - so sick she could go for a job interview! sorry for rant!
Heah - I think this was mentioned before but do we have a facebook group? No problems if we aren't, but just wanted to ask as I use that a bit more.
Hi everyone. I've been MIA trying to get used to life as a trio and being completely sleep deprived had no energy for posting.
I still don't have energy for persies going back 7 pages, so apologies.
A has been having huge issues with wind since Tues, even when she gets lots of wind up she still screams for hours and the only thing that gets her to sleep is exhaustion or when I put her in the Ergo. She was up for nearly 10 hours yesterday/overnight with only 10 minute dozes now and then. I've started giving her Infants Friend today and I got her a dummy (which I'm devastated about to be honest, I really don't want her to have a dummy...we just sorted feeding so I'm very paranoid about us moving backwards but she's also sucking her hands a lot so I guess I need to try and make peace with it) AND I'm cutting cow dairy out now as well to see if that makes a difference. This whole situation has made me so teary and I've been sobbing along with her.
Oh geekyhang in there Hun. You have to call the shots as they come.
Hopefully the infants friend works and so does dairy free.
Don't have any other advice but be assured we have all cried with our babies. Hope it settles soon for you. X
Bbl for persies.
Hi Geeky, I am so sorry to hear how tough it has been for you all. It is heartbreaking when they are obviously unsettled and it feels like there is nothing you can do. Infacol fron the chemist and coles is good once bubs are one month old before every feed can help with wind (it has an active ingredient which helps bind air bubbles together to help bring up after a feed), and time of course. If bubs is regularly in pain and awake for hours each day, please go and see a doctor as it could easily be reflux which is causing pain, or as you have already Thought about, be An intolerance to something you are eating.
With this in mind, something i have found helpful is to use my phone/iPad/computer or little exercise book to keep track of when bubs feeds-when she's awake/crying etc. I know this may be impossible as it's another thing you have to do, but it's a good way to see of there is a pattern and also help you keep track of how long this is lasting for as days can seem like an eternity when you are so exhausted.
Sometimes of course it's just a matter of time, but doing something practical to help you get through this very challenging time I found helpful.
Regardless of any of the above, I am really sorry it's been so rough and hope that you all get some peaceful rest very soon and am here to support you![]()
BTW - don't think twice about a dummy - we have become obsessed with trying to avoid anything that our child later on won't need but it is a very natural comforter for bubs to want to suck and seems cruel to not give it to them if it helps them get some sleep. All babies are different
My DS wouldn't take a dummy, had horrendous reflux from birth soinstead I gave him a bunny rattle comforter (bribe and country road both sell them as a standard toy) which is suitable from birth. He and my DD1 both sleep with them every night and I highly recommend a comforter like them you can give them every time they go to sleep which are safe from birth.
I can't edit in this phone but meant to write 'Bebe (by minihaha) not bribe also sell the bunny rattles!
