Hi everyone! Great to hear about everyone's journeys again...

I'm Ellie...we spent 10 years trying...IVF etc...6 mc's and a ruptured ectopic later we gave up...ran away to the country and 3 months in I started feeling really sick...and that is our naturally conceived DD1...then when she was 5 months old I went back to the doc as I was feeling so sick and that is our precious DD2! Miracles do happen!

As for DD2...we have crawling and 2 teeth...oh...and we've moved house...again....yes that's 3 times since August!!!! I am totally stuffed!

Hi ladies........I was wondering if I could join in your group? I am about to become a mumma to a 7 month old baby girl (adoption). From just me & DH, to a family of 3 in a week. You wait forever (years + years) for it to happen and then all of sudden it does!

Think you know my history, but it's good to refresh!

We have DS1 (Luke) who is 12yrs, conceived naturally - had a terrible labour/emergency c/s and didn't find out for a few years that I had caught a major pelvic infection and all of my parts were ruined.
Approx 8yrs later after 6 IVF stim cycles, we found the right specialist who fixed me and now we have Carmelo
He's commando crawling, sitting up, babbling lots, smiling lots and cut his first tooth last Friday!
We're breastfeeding, amd doing a mix of puree & BLS - he was born at 36 weeks, but has caught up now in weight etc - and the month premmie hasn't seemed to effect anything at all.
Looking at going again for another cycle later this year

I'm now back at work (I'm typing this while pumping....) & now know the true meaning of tired!!!!!!

Hi Chookie & welcome. Would love to hear more about your little one and your journey A quick run-down from me:

DH & I were TTC for 2.5 years when we started IVF. We were one of those lucky couples who were successful on our first cycle. Deacon will be 8 months on Thursday and he is now a master at crawling (we call him our lil shadow at home), will only play with toys that are noisy and/or having flashing lights, loves music and dancing, babbles lots, loves his food & boobie time, smiles constantly and is the happiest baby we have ever met. I am now back working f/t & so is DH and Deacon is in daycare while we're at work. He loves daycare and all the girls adore him.

Just a quick one from me today. Big to you alll, Holly, Doodlebug, Yules, Peanutter, Peta, Ellie, Sunshine, Miskilla & anyone I've missed.

Since Christmas we hace been flat out. Now this week DH is in hospital with colitis & it looks like Deacon must've picked up a bug/cold from someone while we were at the hospital on the weekend. Last night he kept waking up every 30-45 mins crying coz he was all sniffly and couldn't breathe properly. Poor lil darling He seemed a bit better this morning, fingers crossed it doesn't turn into anything too bad. So today I'm at work with only about 4 hours sleep under my belt for the last 48 hours and I'm dragging my butt big time!!!!

Well, I better go. I'm all pumped dry and better get back into work stuff. The bosses are away on hols this week, so I'm not as flat out as I'd normally be, thank goodness!!

So good to hear from you all. Wow, it seems our littlies are all not so little any more! Hasn't the last 8 months flown by?!

Ellie I hope you guys stay put for a little while. 3 moves in 5mths is bl00dy hardwork!!!

Giggles hoping Deacon is feeling a bit better tonight. Luckily Alyssa still hasn't picked up anything from daycare, but I'm waiting for it. Luckily I have a gazillion sick hours saved up ready. Excuse my ignorance, but what is Colitis that DH has? I hope it is nothing serious (though it must be fairly bad if he is in hospital).

Chookie, I hope today was everything you dreamt it would be & more. I can't imagine you have slept much since getting the news of your little girl. Enjoy every minute - you deserve it!

Anyway, I'm off to relax before my working week begins. I'm really liking this 3 days a week gig, wish I was on to it sooner!!! Could have enjoyed lots of long weekends. Speak soon xo

Hi Ladies

How are we all?

I need some advice / thoughts. Alyssa had eating solids down pat & would have 3 meals a day + 4 bottles. All of a sudden this last week she doesn't really want to eat anything & will only have the bare minimum of her bottles. I've had varying ideas from friends from getting sick, teething, temperature too hot..... I just don't know. I'm wondering if the change to her routine & stress from daycare is affecting her. I know its only been 3 weeks but I really wonder if I am doing the right thing. Don't get me wrong, I think daycare is giving her some great interaction & it is nice to have a "break" from being a mummy for a minute, even if it is to work. I just don't know. Her sleep has been very disturbed the past week also. Normally she sleeps right through from about 630pm - 500am, but last week she was either not going down or waking up multiple times a night. We've tried bonjela & she loves it, but I'm really not sure its teething.

peta ... how rough!! A couple of the girls from my mothersgroup have had the same thing in the past couple of weeks with their LOs... Personally my money is on the heat combined with the seriously heightened stress levels so many have been having cos of the floods and the fires etc. If bub is still having the right number of wet nappies day in and day out, and is at least drinking something each day and is sleeping at least a bit each day and isn't getting lethargic and "floppy" I would ride it out and just offer food, drink, playtime, naps etc, give her plenty of towel downs with a wet washer and loads of reassurance and cuddles. If daycare was started three weeks ago, I wouldn't have thought that any negative reaction would be so delayed.

Thanks Peanutter!! Today has been better again, with another full night's sleep last night. With the Aus Day holiday I have her here at home one extra day this week, so we'll see how we are by this coming weekend. She doesn't seem to be lacking energy or anything, maybe just too many new things to amuse her rather than behave!

Hi Peta,

I agree with our nutter, daycare doesn't sound like it's the problem. Could be teething, could be hot, could be cold, could be she's just had enough and wants to chill out for a few days! There is a wonder week around 8mts so that could also come into play, a couple of weeks ago Logan had a shocker of a week, was waking up in the night for 'bonus boob's which he never normally does, also not finishing his bottle before bed and was very sooky during the day. Nothing seems to have come of it, no teeth or obvious signs, I just put it down to a wonder week. (my answer for everything! )

Again, I agree with the wet/dirty nappies, as long as these are coming as much as ever I wouldn't worry too much.

Glad you got another full nights sleep last night! That's great!

Thanks DB! I have the book you are talking about. This did cross my mind but for some reason I thought she'd already "leapt". More good sleeps today and she is down again now (though only just), but it looks like my little girl is coming back. She has had more of her bottles today & even ate a piece of toast, half a jar of food & some zucchini slice so that is good. Mummy is much happier than the last few days.

How is everyone going? Yules have you made it to Jersey yet? You're probably still getting settled.

I'm here! What a trip! it's 6am (just) and I've been up all night (well since about 1am) with very awake kids on the wrong timezone. Darcie is having such a fussy time lately on top - Peta, just like Alyssa by the sounds....so I'm buggered! Max has been awake...and I mean AWAKE for so long and he's going to be so grumpy! He just wont go back to bed. DH is back in bed as he has to go back to work tomorrow...I know,.....we just got here! He just has to do a little bit of work (apparently) then we are going house hunting!

Peta With A and her eating....Max used to go off his food when he was teething, only wanted really smooth things and boobed a lot....so teething could be in there too! It's all happening!

After a week of transition we brought our little girl home today for good. I have a little baby sleeping soundly in her cot right now, I almost cannot believe it!

DH & I have been together for almost 12 years. Our journey to this moment has been almost 10 years long. Years of TTC ourselves, IVF and the last few on the adoption journey. Then Monday 2 weeks ago we got the phone call that changed our lives. We met our babies birthmum and we really hope the 4 times yearly access visits with her will happen, but that ball is in her court now.

Our little one is almost 8 months old. She is a fantastic sleeper, almost 12 hours a night. She has a 1 -2 hour nap in the morning and the same in the afternoon. She is a great eater and is having 3 bottles a day. Crawling is about to commence anyday, it will be the first big milestone we get to see. She has 4 teeth, 2 top and 2 bottom.

I just LOVE being her mum!

Wow Chookie, I am so excited for you!! What a blessing to have your little girl at home & to have her in such a good routine. What state are you in? Are the 4 visits per year part of the adoption "rules"? Does your LO legally become yours now, or in 12 months? I know here in Qld it had just changed such that the child was still the "state's" for the first 12 months and then became legally yours thereafter. Have you had any attachment issues yet? I am remembering all these things we were told while we were on the adoption rollercoaster (as I call it) a couple of years ago. When I read your story this morning it brought tears to my eyes as it is so similar to my story (albeit with a different ending).
Yules pleased to hear you've made it to Jersey & hoping the kids settle into the new timezone in no time. Alyssa is getting better with her food again, though is preferring to have things she can feed herself. This is a little tricky to think of foods, but we are getting there. Custard still wins hands down but I don't want her only having custard.

I am in Victoria. The 4 visits are what was requested and what we agreed to (we were willing to do up to 6). It is the same here as in QLD, the Adoption order goes through in 12 months time. We are not having any issues so far. She is bonding really well with us, we just have to take each day at a time, stick to her routine and for the next fews weeks not have anyone else hold her. If we stick to this I cant see us having any attachment issues. She bonded really well with her fostermum, so if she bonded once she will definately fully bond again.
