Hi Nutter and Ellie! And everyone else of course!!
J & E are doing ok. Still illnesses going through the ranks, but just colds, and while annoying are nothing on what we went through for the past month!
E has now had another couple of teeth pop through too. So, two teeth on the bottom, and 3 top teeth! Hopefully the other side won't be long to even her up!
Nutter - I'm sorry you've been going through so much, although I don't know all the details. But wishing you luck with the TTCing! Sounds very exciting!
You too Peta! Let us know won't you?
We still haven't planned anything for E's birthday. Thinking it will be June now. Don't know what to give her as a present either. Was thinking something girly because J got everything else, but I don't want to get something just for the sake of it. Any ideas? I don't want to get a dolls house just yet, I thought maybe next year for that one. The only other idea I had was a toy kitchen, but we just don't have the room for it atm so think I'll have to dismiss that one for now too. We have a few dolls, plenty of soft toys and books and I'm not sure what else there is!
we've got Joshua a full set of the Mr Men and Little Miss books
they were on sale at Target for about $50 each ... more than we wanted to spend, but you can never have too many books! and buying them individually for $6 each, we'd only have got about 15 books, rather than 80~!!
Well false alarm here re being preggers. Just late! Typical of my silly body. Looks like we have bought ourselves a Forester XT. Just waiting on the finance to be approved. It drives awesomely & will be so much easier to park for me. Yee hoo! Come on finance.
Nutter - books are brilliant. Alyssa's are kept in a little bookshelf & she goes and pulls them all out then sits there & looks at the pictures most days. We read them to her also, but its nice to see her looking at them. The Mr & Miss series are great - mum kept all of ours so Alyssa will be able to read them when she is older or goes to Nanma & Grandad's.
Hope you are all well. For those of you on FB you will have seen my posts re Alyssa's health. I just really hope she is on the brighter side of this "virus". This is what the doctors have decided she has. Wish it would leave her alone!!
Anyway, I'm off to get some fish & chips for lunch. Haven't had it for ages so should be yummy. xo
Glad to hear that Alyssa's health is on the improve! I've only had to do the Emergency trip to hospy once, just after E was born. J's temp shot up and wouldn't come back down after the panadol. The maternal health line told us to go to get him checked out. It was croup for him, but the trip going out in to the cold nigh t air reversed it for him so by the time we were actually being seen to at the hospital he was happy and chirpy and causing chaos in the hospital - at 4am!!!! I was so embarrased but the doc said that it was fine and the right thing to do under the circumstances.
Books are a great idea, but we have all my old books and then lots that we've collected along the way with J, so we don't need any more just now. And birthdays and Christmas we always get a handful of them from various people. I went to a 2nd birthday today, and was speaking about the present issue with some friends and one of them suggested some keepsake jewellery - baby bracelet, or brooch or something ike that. I love that idea so am going on the hunt on Tuesday when I have my day off.
Oops, better go, I've got someone climbing up my leg demanding attention!
I just off the phone from the hospital ... basically, they're investigating, and they can't give me any indication as to when I will hear back from them officially (despite their telling me 28 days was the longest it would take) and apparently it's my fault because:-
(a) my complaint is long;
(b) the problem has been over a long period of time (mind you it's still not resolved);
(c) lots of people were involved; and
(d) I haven't given them proof as to my costs and expenses.
And that is coming from their patient advocate/complaints manager. Thanks. I feel so much better now. I'm so furious I feel like I could burst into flames.
As I am not a character from Heroes, I closed my office door and burst into tears instead.
they all suck. I called her out on it a couple of times - nothing snarky, nothing mean or shouty, just repeating back to her what she seemed to be saying/implying to me - so she heard how unreasonable it was ...
anyway, I'm trying to put it all to one side for a while, until I hear further, or decide to ramp it up to the next step (ie: Health Services Commissioner or local member, etc).
thanks girls. It's nice to be able to share - it's still all very very hush hush IRL as it's so embarassing, and I'm not ready for people to know the details yet. that's another big decision - it might end up being important for my emotional healing to not have it all secretive, but I would hate for Joshua to know the details before he's old enough to understand that it's not his fault, and that time passes and that some things just happen, etc ... not sure that I'm making sense ... but I know that I don't ever, every want him to hear from second cousin X or great aunty Y things like, "oh, you're lucky your parents kept you, what with the horrendous damage you caused to your mother!" etc, the way that "helpful" people do ...
still no word. I'm so furious I could burst into flames.
as for birthdays, we're giving DS a big boy bed, and a few little bits and pieces (one of those lion fisher price toys with the balls, a couple of cars, a rocking giraffe ... etc).
from others, he's getting a wooden train set, a wooden car garage, one of those fisher price drum things ... sleep suit ... etc.
totally spoiled!
on other matters, I'm still having this really weird sensation around my left ovary ... not sure what it is - muscle, intestine, ovary ... no idea! so I ended up calling Nurse On Call and discussing it - they asked lots of questions, but determined that I just need to go to the Dr in the next 2 weeks, or sooner if it gets painful or different ...
I said that I'd been umming and ahing about it, because my appendix isn't on that side, and if it was a cyst or a cancer or something I'd feel sick or pain or something ... then she said that wasn't necessarily the case, and that they could be basically symptomless
so that's not a good feeling! so I think we'll just go to the Dr tomorrow.
Oh nutter! I think the universe needs to cut you some slack!
Make an appointment for the doc and put your mind at ease.
As for the hospital, you'll get them! Don't let them win by letting it consume you. You don't want to burst into flames.... It's joshuas birthday next week! I know it's easy for me to say though, I'm not living it. But I'm sure it will sort itself soon.
Afm - we are still living in a hotel. I have Charlie here now which is cool, but I just want some normal stat! Been in jersey for 4 months and only 1 month has been in a house! Hopefully only 2 weeks to go! Fingers crossed!
The weather has been so nice, so I hope it will stick around for darcies birthday. I got her....
A fisherprice pram for her doll. She loves ( a nice sturdy one.... Thanks amazon!!) a puzzle, max got her a little horse toy, he chose himself... Some clothes, a toy phone. Knowing her though, she will have these things and keep playing with the tv remotes instead!! Lol! Xx
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so sorry for mistakes!!
Been MIA lately with everything going on in my little world.
Nutter - hang in there hun, you WILL win! You have right and good on your side! And please make an appt for the dr!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yules - that sucks about still being in an apartment, fingers crossed it all gets sorted really soon.
Birthdays - we gave Logan a joint present from my parents, my nanna and us of a sand and water table, bloody expensive but it's brilliant! He loves it, it's outside so not cluttering up my small house and James and his mates like to play with it too so it will be well used! James gave him a hammer "because he likes to bash things"! hahaha!
General life - things are beyond crap right now, dad has finished radiation and starts chemo on Thurs. His hair is due to fall out sometime this week and his head will look all blistered and red (like bad sunburn). He's so tired it's not funny and really struggling with the fact he's not the big, strong man he's used to being.
My sister is due to have her first baby in 2 weeks and OMG she is worse than useless! She's a very self-centered person who has absolutely no idea! I'm getting up to 10 phone calls/text messages/e-mails a day from her.
Between that and mum crying everytime I see her coz she's stressed and worried about dad, plus dad's being a pig to her, just really angry and venomous (only coz he's scared but he's taking it out on mum). The kicker the other day was when mum sad "the man she loved and married was taken away from her on the 18th of March and her life will never be the same again" really threw me.
I know this sounds extremely selfish but I can't be everyone's strong person! HE IS MY DAD TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still down as dr's contact person and power of attorney for mum and dad.
Add to that Ian is working 6 days a week, gone at 7:45am and back at 6:30pm each day, James is picking up bad habits from school and Logan has a cold (which means we have to stay away from dad until it clears), i'm not in a good place.
I've booked a councelling appt through the Cancer Council for next Monday. I just need someone to be my 'grown-up' and give me some advice on how to cope!
Sorry for the long, selfish rant!
Hope you girls are all well, I'll try pop back on later in a better frame of mind.
as for the Drs, we went this morning, but there's over an hour wait, so we've headed home and will go back shortly (they're keeping our names in the queue, we just don't want Josh catching something in the waiting room! So we're effectively waiting at home. But all 3 of us will be going - we've all got a cold/virus/infection - not sure which, and DH and I seem to have a spot of gastro (fun - but praise God Josh doesn't have it!) my yeah, the ovary thing. I'd been planning on going today anyway, but with DH sick, we really had to go, and unfortuntely, what was previously an odd stretchy feeling has become a little bit painful, so I've got to see someone about it anyway. Please send prayers/healing vibes/etc
Josh meanwhile has discovered the "joys" of squealing ... I was hoping and praying we'd just bypassed that stage! no such luck ... here's hoping it doesn't catch on, because DH has been sick, and has a rotten headache, and I'm not much better. But he's enjoying life, learning new things, exploring and learning to walk ... and turning ONE on WEDNESDAY!!!
Doodle and Yules - the prezzies sound awesome I hope they're loved by your LOs
Doodle - I'm so sorry about your dad ... I really pray they knock it on the head, and that the chemo doesn't bash him around too much. It's just brutal, but thank goodness he's got all of you supporting him xo Re your sister though, I'd be so tempted to turn my phone off, or let it run out of battery for a day or two. You're not going to be on tap forever, and while it's great to be supportive, I know that sometimes I have to pull back otherwise they'll blame me for things which they should have been looking after for months IYKWIM... I hope you get some relief soon, hun. And your poor mum too
And he is your dad, and this is happening to you too. I hope they see that I hope the counselling helps. I know that my counsellor has given me some really good strageties - I hope you get some too.
Sorry to hear about the sick household Nutter. I hope it doesn't turn out to be anything too serious. And that weird pain gets sorted out too... Sending healing vibes your way!
Doodle- those sand water tables are awesome! Good choice!
You really are having a rough trot. I hope the counsellor is helpful and gives you some coping strategies. You are right, you need support too! Don't forget that we are all here to support you too.
Yules- Glad you have your fur baby with you at last. How did he cope with the journey? that there is only 2 more weeks until you are in a house!
As for your question about birthday presents, we managed to avoid too many new toys. My Mum gave E a little pink plastic trike, so that DS and DD have one each. And she got another one for her house too. FIL opened a bank account for her and my Dad gave her a toy and some books - nothing too bulky so it won't take up too much room. But we got E a gold heart locket. Something she can keep and wear forever if she chooses. We will get her name engraved on it too. Not a cheap present, but then we think of all the things that J has been given and she will never receive and it feels really good to give her something special just for her that she will never have to share with anyone else.
Doodle, You are AMAZING! As the other girls have said you know you are more than welcome to lean on us & we will try to help you as best we can. While we are not physically there with you, you & your family are in our thoughts.
Nutter, jeepers! Things just keep going for you guys hey. I hope you found some answers with the Dr (not just about your flu's). Someone up there must pick out jobs for us because they know we can handle them & I guess someone thinks you are strong enough to fight the hospital. Know that we all support you in this. Can't believe it's Josh's birthday soon!!
MT, Yules, Miskilla, Ellie - HELLO!! Hope you are all well.
Not too much happening here this week, which I'm starting to find is a good thing & generally means Alyssa is not sick or teething! I have her flu from last week & it is a shocker - no wonder the poor kid was screaming & having high temps all week. Pandadine has worked wonders to keep me sane though. Loving my new car - small & easy to park & goes like a dog shot in the ..... when you want it to. Not sure I'm allowed that saying on here Not sure if any of you saw 60mins last night & Alissa Camplin's story about her little boy Finnan. I was an absolute mess. Given I was born with congenital heart disease & Alyssa has turned out perfectly I really am questioning my need for my children now. Should I not just be bloody grateful to have one perfectly healthy little girl? Still brings tears to my eyes now 24hrs later.
Anyway, sorry to end on a sad note for those of you who watched the story. Hope you have a good one & speak soon. xo
1. had the ultrasound today, and nothing showed up meaning that while I may not have any answers just yet, it certainly doesn't appear to be cancer or a great big cyst or bowel obstruction or anything like that!! woot.
2. after the upset occasioned by Ms Sarky-pants-moos-alot at the hospital, I have spoken with the office of the Health Services Commissioner who seemed appauled by the treatment I've received, and basically said to refer it straight to them to handle. I asked a few questions about whether it remains confidential, whether it will help, etc. I was satisfied that they were being frank with me, and that it's time I let someone else carry this for me
3. Josh got invited to a casting to be a model! Keeping the details tight to our chests at the moment, until decisions are made etc, but this is super exciting
