Sleeping arrangements: We have DD in our room in a basinette. I would love for her to be able to sleep in her own room but at the moment we are living in a small apartment with only 2 bedrooms until our house is built. Midwives here recommend sharing a room for the first 12 months, but as soon as the house is done (5 months) she will be in her own room. Amelie has a bed and changing table in DS's room but she only sleeps in there when DS is at Kinder.

Sleeping arrangements: Lizzie in cradle in our room at the moment, but she's pretty close to having outgrown it so shortly will move into cot and share a room with Susie, given she sleeps through most nights doing around 10 hours, sharing a room should hopefully work well! would like her with us longer but dont think the cot would fit.
They build them pretty cute, huh? babies i mean. must be a survival mechanism i reckon!
i dont usually have to change Jacob overnight, but last night i heard some rumblings so got up to change him after 3am feed. there wasnt much poo in the nappy though, oh well false alarm. I put a new nappy on anyway, button all his layers back up, zip him back into his sleeping bag..... and BAM! he lets it rip! arrrrrgh had to start all over again! he smiled and laughed of course!
HaHa BBB Lilly does that as well. Not uncommon for us to go through 3 or 4 nappies in less than 5 mins.

Jim did that a bit with poos lol - I remember sticking disposable after disposable under him lol
What he does the most though is weeing "in public" whenever he's been weighed. The funniest one was when we went back to the hospital for the breech hip check - it went literally everywhere and it was so funny.
Ahh the joys of having boys EMC lol. I remember getting peed on quite a bit when my DS was little.
He's only done it twice while changing him though..he's done more poos mid change early on.
We had a good day today, my pendant arrived with Jim's footprint, this morning which was lovely. This afternoon we went for afternoon tea at the next door neighbour's house. She lives in a tiny worker's cottage, and she's painted the inside rooms different pastel colours, and with art work from friends and family. Very pretty.
Tomorrow Mum is minding Jim, and I have an appointment with Community Health, I am not sure whether I will go to it or not, it was just to do with getting advice about the situation with my ex and also just with what happened with Jim's birth. The only thing is the place is about 1km from any bus stop. To be honest I just feel like getting some rest.
Child Health called me when I didn't turn up to the mother's group, and said I'm most welcome to come to the last session, so I will do that next week on Tuesday.
I just want to get some new bras that aren't nursing bras. I've been doing a bit of online shopping and online window shopping. I have found microfleece works really well as a nappy liner, I was quite surprised.
Jim alternates between being windy one evening and sleeping the next evening. The past few days I've been having a sandwich at 11am while he's having his morning sleep, or playing and then I make something more substantial for me to eat in two meals later on that day and night. Prior to this I was alternating between eating well and drinking Sustagen lol.
He's looking more like a boy now in that he's older and a bit less like a "baby baby" as my brother has termed it. I bought some very expensive (to me!) chime toys and they are the greatest thing, Jim put his arm under them and made them chime. He also had another half roll over on the playmat this week.

Dragonbub I have a 9 and 11 year old and they do my head in sometimes. Just this morning they had not one nice word to say to each other. I growled at them and told them not to say a word more to each other, and from that they started getting along as though they were best friends.. grrr
Kelly that visit to the park sounds like fun. Its nice to take advantage of the nice weather :D

AFM Well we are here, in our new house :D Its still in a mess, with stuff everywhere. We're slowly getting through it all. Its strange to be talking to hubby about hurrying along the sorting as Bree will be mobile soon enough. I think we are doing well considering we have a lil baby, hubby is working full time, and I have had to go back and tidy up the old place etc. We're all finished with the old place as of tomorrow so no more worrying about that anymore!
Mum had Bree for two nights and I missed my lil girl so much. I knew she was fine where she was, but I really ached for a cuddle. I couldn't let go of her when I went to pick her up on sunday at lunch time. She is adjusting well to our new home. She is still sleeping through the night, about 10 hours which is awesome. She woke up early this morning, about 6:10am, usually she wakes after 7, but it worked out well because I realised hubby had forgotten to set the alarm, so she saved the day lol she went back to sleep after that until I woke her at 7:30am
I had her weighed when she was 3 months. She was 6.48kg, and I forget the rest of the details now lol, but she was in the 90th percentile I think it was :D She is on the heavier side, but she is on the shorter side lol, bit like her mum LOL.
Anyway, it is really late. I need to get to bed for a recharge as all this extra driving to school and back is taking its toll.

I think Jacobs had a 'wonder week' , its been pretty exhausting! He has been very grouchy between 5-9pm each evening, and from 4am-10am has wanted to 'cluster feed' so waking every 30min-1hr!
I don't mind cluster feeding in the evening, but this 4am business is driving me crazy!!!!!!
GG I don't know how you keep up with all the personals, sometimes everyone's posts become a blur tbh. I had to get halve a lot of things I had here, I still need to buy a big cupboard or something, rather than the open shelf I have, for my books and things. I also will have to sell my bed soon and get a single ensemble (we will both be on wheels lol). The change table and bath I have with wheels is great, I can just wheel it around to different angles in the little laundry/hallway.
I bought three Magicalls, I haven't used a pocket nappy before but as they had the buy two get one free deal, I thought I might try them. I think MCN's will be easier than flats when I go out.
BBB - Jim is growing too, it's a little easier with formula though, well apart from all the washing up!! I bought some new Pigeon bottles and they leaked, but luckily I had the ones I got from eBay, I mixed and matched. I have put Jim on a Medium teat a few times and sometimes it is good, other times the flow is too much for him.
He's got the hiccups again! lol

It's been a while since my last post, even though it feels like just yeaterday. I can't believe how quickly time is passing by, Amelia is three months old today.
I've been looking for a new job so I can get back to work in mid september, but I haven't had any luck yet. As a lead up to it, I decided tostart Amelia in a half day at family day care each week. I figure it is best to get her accustomed to the other kids and routine sooner rather then stressing her out when I get a job.
This hasn't gone well though. She won't feed from the bottle for her daycare mum, and has begun to get very clingy. She won't even settle for her dad now, she just cries until I come back. She was fine when she spent the afternoon with her Nanna, but anyone else is not even worth the stress. I'm hoping I can get the telecommute job I have applied for - it would be a godsend.
Apart from this, Amelia has been wonderful. She is in bed by 6pm, has one feed around midnight, and then back to bed till around 5 or 6am. So different to her brother, and so very appreciated by me.
In the last two weeks she has really discovered her hands and how to get everything within reach into her mouth. Children fascinate her, as does my border collie who once again is having her hair pulled by a baby.
Sorry for no personals tonight. I'll have to catch up on everyone and then post again soon.

Jim's been going to my Mum's mostly on Mondays for about 5 hours, that has been going well. Tomorrow though he is going to my ex's so I don't know how that will go with him. It's not far away from here anyway - so I am going to the shops and if there's any problems he can bring him back after that or later depending on how they both go.
I am not going to pack a nappy bag for my ex when Jim goes there, I offered cloth nappies but he's made various comments about those and other things. He is borrowing the rocker though. I am just sending formula and clothes along. It makes me so cross, he hasn't contributed anything.

He is normally quite settled and easy to calm with a cuddle. Oh well, it can't go on forever. Still haven't had an all-nighter sleep through but getting there (although not lately, he is mainly in bed with me just so I can get some sleep). Am hanging in there though.

BBB - maybe bubs is going through a growth spurt? Could explain the cluster feeding. I've noticed lately that L stays on the boob for over an hour now. I have to plie her off lol.

I've been looking into daycare for L as October will be here before we know it. Not sure how she'll go as she's not been looked after by anyone but me or DH so far. I'm going back to work 3 days a week and I'll have to job share my job with the temp who's doing my job now. Really don't want to job share but if I want to only work 3 days a week then I have no choice. Just have to talk to my boss soon and let her know what I'm doing. I've also contacted my FS in prep for a FET in November. No waiting here lol. Hopefully its a blue bunddle next or I'll be going back again. We have 4 frosties but they are all fragmented to some degree so I don't hold high hopes for them. I'll have to do some reasearch on them and see what chance they'll have.

Porsche - I wish my SIL would make her next booking at the clinic, I just joke with her that she should, she still very clucky, even after having her bubs in January. I have been thinking of checking out Child Care - there's a centre about two minutes walk from my place. It's just an option if take up studying or whatever happens.
I went to the Mother's group, it wasn't very nice, but I just stayed quiet. There were a few off comments made, sorry that we keep talking about breastfeeding when you're no longer breastfeeding, gee it would be hard to be a single mother, and then I was talking about how I had Jim but I don't know another woman was talking about her labour - it's a bit hard to explain I felt really put off.
However I somehow ended up becoming the organiser for the first meeting as the majority suggested we meet at each others homes, but I said I'm not sure about public transport..and I got the feeling another Mum didn't want to meet at her home either. So we're meeting at the local shopping centre next week.
Also my ex took Jim for a visit, to his parents, it is so frustrating it went well. He bought a box of disposables over and a tin of formula (hasn't contributed much but this is something)...BUT he had Jim for seven hours and didn't change his nappy :-O very frustrating. I know he has OCD issues but I just wish he would get someone else to change him or bring him back earlier.
Sorry I just remember I have forgotten to add the good things that have been happening. Jim loves my neighbour downstairs, I think as we had chats when I was pregnant, he recognised her voice. Did I mention the other neighbour had an afternoon tea for us last Wednesday which was lovely? It was lovely of her to organise that.
I have been getting Jim toys, I got him a fisher price cement mixer, it has a rattle in it, I also set up a toy line from two door frames above the change table, I suppose I could use it as a small washing line as well. I have been buying new toys - for some reason it is hard to find baby toys second hand (lots of board books though), anyway I found a good website - Yogee. I also bought a toy bar that clips onto your stroller, rocker etc, that BBB has as well. The best part is it came with this super duper squeaker toy.
emc you should get a Jolly Jumper, they are $60 on sale at toysrus right now including musical mat, saw it at a neighbours who reccommended it. Jacob looooooves it!!!! it will clip over any door frame, no drilling or holes so fine for your rental, takes 2min to setup and they swing and bounce in it, Jacob loves being upright! Best thing i've bought so far, keeps him happy and frees me to do some housework.
Jacob's about 3 weeks older. Jim can nearly hold his head. I got a bumbo like chair (second hand Bebepod) but a swing sounds like fun! I'll look into that.

Just popping to to say hello. I've been busy lately as we are going through a Wonder Week/Growth Spurt which is so much fun - NOT - when you have 2 cranky clingy babies to juggle plus 1 toddler.
Boys got weighed in today at 14 weeks and Liam is now weighing a hefty 5.73kg's and Rhys is 5.3kg's. I was expecting Rhys to be lighter seeing he was sick with bronchitis and also he has a tummy bug as well, so lots of poopy nappies for mummy. Both boys are sleeping through the night - have been for about 6 weeks - from around 8pm-8.30pm til 6.30am-7am. We were giving them a dreamfeed at around 10pm of 100mls just to make sure they could get through the night but we have dropped that the past couple of evenings and they are still sleeping through and when they wake in the morning they chat for about 20/30mins before wanting to be fed. So by dropping that feed it means mummy can get to bed before 11pm now which is fantastic.
Apart from that both the boys are spending more awake time during the day which is very interesting as I now have to entertain 2 babies at once - which is a challenge - so I went an invested in another play mat on the weekend. We already had one from DD but both boys are too big to share that one anymore so they needed there own one.
I noticed some of you were talking about Jolly Jumpers and Bumbo's, we had both for DD and she didn't really like either of them. I have put Liam in the bumbo and he will sit in it for a little bit but doesn't like that he can't kick his legs, I haven't tried Rhys as yet as he still isn't strong enough to sit without some neck support. But the Jolly Jumper, I put Liam in it the other day for the first time and after about 5 mins he worked out what to do and was springing all over the place, smiling and talking away so I think it's a winner for him but will be a little longer before Rhys gets to try it out. So every baby is different, so if you can them a bit cheaper I would recommend that as you don't want to outlay heaps for something that you baby won't use if they don't like it.

BBB I think I will have to get a jolly jumper for Bree, I have been thinking about it, I had one for my older three and they all loved it, they tried walking off in it lol. I think Bree will love it too as she is such a sticky beak, she gets cranky if she can't look around. I keep thinking she is still too little, but in reality our little ones are getting so big now aren't they. And she doesn't have any trouble holding her head up.
Jim is 6kg at 11 weeks so I am glad I keep getting clothes sizes ahead..he's quite long too but I didn't measure that.
Kelly - I mostly buy things second hand, but odd things I can't seem to obtain I get new. Sometimes the price difference doesn't seem worth it but it all adds up. The bulk eBay lots of clothes were good with baby sizes, I don't know about as he gets older though. I do have a Bebepod already so it's like the Bumbo, I think the back is higher? I got it from eBay. Some things I end up doubling up on but Jim will spend time at his Dad's and both grandparents so it doesn't hurt.
GG - yes I was googling quotes and I came across that one. It covers all kinds of circumstances lol.
Jim's legs are really strong..I'd say stronger than his head, but his head's pretty strong too. I always used to say to my neighbour, that I couldn't imagine that he was upside down..and I still can't work that out. I assume he was head down on the 11th of March, when the midwife did a quick ultrasound? I have a lot of questions which I am not sure whether to ask at the hospital about tbh.

Having a rough week. River has been quite unsettled and difficult to get to sleep. I think he is teething as he just about chomps my finger off when I put it in his mouth to suck on, and he has been off his dummy (good thing really). Drooling heaps and has a bit of a red bottom. Oh well. Caden teethed at 4 months so maybe he is following his big brothers foot steps. I do hope he cuts them soon cos I hate this part :(
Better go, my 2 mins on the computer is done. Gotta go express some milk before bed, ttfn.
When is teething likely to start - I notice Jim has got his hand in his mouth a lot, and it's not because he is hungry anymore it's like the teeth must be coming? But he's only 12 weeks old on Saturday.

EMC - Some babies ae born with teeth lol. They can start teething from about 12 weeks I believe. My first 2 didn't teeth until they were 8-10 months old. They had bad nappy rash and that was the only sighn with my 2. But with L she drools heaps and she chews on my fingwr and her fist. It could just be that it's their teeth moving around in their gums. Hard to know for sure.
Dragonbub - I hope R settles for you. It's hard when they are unsettled and won't sleep. That seems to be my day every day as L doesn't sleep much during the day.
Kelly - Those are great weights. I don't know how you mums do it with twinies. You must be very clever. Your doing a great job.

I have been super busy trying to get a little home business up and running so I don't have to return to work and put Jake in care. Trying to do a website selling wedge shoes online called Wicked Wedge. Pretty much finished the website but working on my suppliers now, hoping to get some Aussie designers on board.

Things have been going really well, but Jim has been a little more spewy so more washing for me.
Ex has finally worked out nappy changes. Some visits have been going really well, others not so - it's irritating when I don't get a break from looking after Jim when his father is here.
I got some lovely toys from the oppy today for $1 and 50c each - lots of dangly toys, a ball with chimes, all the things they charge a small fortune for in toy shops/department stores.
Things are catching up with me in terms of what we went through, I feel a bit flat and down.
Sunday was good though I went to the shops and I saw a movie, while my ex took Jim to his parents house. Red Dog is a funny movie!

We are doing great. It has been so hot here this past week (mid 30s)! Amelie has been more thirsty than usual because of the humidity. DS is spending this week at his grandparents' house, it's been great having that time alone with Milly. I do miss DS though.
Good on you BBB for starting your own online business. I would love to do that but i think my German isn't there yet to do it here. I would love to open my own baby store one day, I'm a sucker for new baby products. DH is a purchasing manager, so he could deal with the business side of things. Maybe one day :rolleyes: We keep joking about opening up an Australian/English/American bakery.
I am pretty lucky that I am able to be a SAHM. But really I feel like I have no choice in the matter being here. I don't think I would be suited for most jobs here. I do some freelance translating (German-English) when DH's work need some things done. I don't enjoy that at all, but at least it's something.
EMC - bargains! I would love to go op-shopping but they don't really have those here so much. When I travelled to OZ last time I went with DS to get some books. Ended up with about 5, all for 50c each. They looked brand new. Love it.
I love op shopping, there's such a wide range of things, from nearly new to old things as well. If I don't buy anything I find it interesting to think of the previous owners of various things in the shop, if nothing else.
With clothes it's nice to be wearing things that aren't in fashion a bit and mixing and matching with new things.

Sorry I can't stop for long. been really busy lately. This driving half hour each way to school morning and afternoon is taking its toll. very hard to get anything else done. Seen someone mention nappy rash and teething. Just been to the doc today for myself but got bree looked at, she has bad nappy rash, hasn't gone away in about 4 weeks, eased off but not gone, also been fussing with bottles last couple of days, thought about teething, and when I put my finger in her mouth she was chomping on it lol... the doct told me today that she has oral thrush, this is why she is turning her head from side to side during feeding. He suggests I use canestan on her nappy rash. I got her a jolly jumper, she loves it, and she loves chewing on it too lol... anyway I will have to come back later, my ride has arrived... heading out with mum tonight :)

Just a quickie too. Not much chance to get on here lately as we have all had the flu. I am SOOOO tired right now!
River has been great, getting so big he is almost 7 kilos can you believe it! Time just flies. I just love him at this age, he is cooing and laughing and generally very happy and contented. I think (touch wood) he is over the worst of his tummy troubles so hopefully other than teething and colds, we are in the clear zone. He is much easier to put down for a nap now and will sleep for a few hours in the arvo if he is in the pram or swing (doesnt really like sleeping for too long in the cot though, but I am not too worried). He sleeps from 7pm to 6am waking up for feeds at 12am, then 3am then 6am, but is fairly easy to settle in between. Looking forward to an all night sleep though, the sleep deprivation plus the flu really knocks you about huh?
Ok, sorry no personals, I really want to spend some time responding but gotta go express, then spend some time with DH before hitting the hay at around 8.30 these days just to make up sleep.

Jacob has booster shots on Monday, I will also get the nurses to check him out regarding his unsettledness last week, some other ladies have suggested he could have an ear infection? Jacob will be weighed at CYH, excited to see what it is as his thighs have gotten really chubby lately!

OMG - these few weeks are madness... daughters bday today, celebrated on the weekend, hubby's bday this week, probably celebrate on friday night, sister in law's bday next week... Fathers day too... Arrghhhh... who's idea was this LOL its celebrations for the rest of the year with son, father, and mil's bday all to follow shortly too...

We have tried Bree on a few different formulas and have come back to NAN HA... it is so much better for her tiny tummy. It is so soft and fluffy whereas the others are like grains of sand... strange. The others become quite foamy and Bree suffers a bit more with wind, so she is having a lovely nap at the moment after getting back onto Nan, we actually went back to nan before but hubby accidentally bought the wrong formula on the weekend so we thought we would give it a go... Find that she needs to drink lots of water on other formulas but isn't so bothered by it on Nan - lol I typed Nany haha...
If I didn't know any better, I would think that Bree has started teething, but I am not 100%, think it might be her oral thrush that still hasn't gone away. Getting the doc to peak inside her mouth this afternoon while we are there. Nappy rash still wont go away, stubborn.
OMG - the amount of bibs I put on this girl everyday lol... I have 28 bibs and still manage to run out. I am constantly changing them. They get soaking wet from her dribbling constantly.
I sat on the lounge the other night biting Bree's nails back... they had grown too long and I HATE using nail clippers, tried it once with my eldest, never again. Hubby tried it and he refuses to use them ever again, so last option was to bite them, I sat for about an hour and a half biting them off very carefully so she couldn't scratch her face. Its not so bad in size 00 because you can hide her little hands, but size 0 doesn't have that option, besides I like her to have her hands free anyway.
We bought a musical mobile the other week when it was on special, what a lovely investment that turned out to be. Everytime we put Bree to bed in her cot, she looks at the mobile and looks back at me as if she is asking for it to be turned on. When we wind it up, her face lights up with massive smiles, it is amazing. It is the one thing that is guaranteed to bring a smile regardless of how unsettled she may be, and she gets off to sleep well straight after if finishes playing music to her.
