Babies Born ~ November 1st -15th 2011 #2

I got it from Bubs baby shop. They deliver so I just ordered online. Lilly loves it becuase she loves sleeping with her arms up next to her face. It is easy to get them into too when they are asleep.

Wow jealous I haven't taken bubs out anywhere. Been so exhausted with the Op, and they recommended we stay away from large crowds due to the whoping cough epidemic we have here. We did go for a walk today however. That was nice.

Well we had more screaming and unsettled behaviour today but daddy seemed to help her get it out, looks like it is definatley wind. Didn't want to sleep longer than 30mins so it's been hard going. Hoping we can get her settled now as she has had her first proper feed since earlier today. Shes been all out of sorts

Color me exhausted!

Jan with DS1 we used alot of gripe water and once he started solids at 4 months it settled really quick. DS2 was longer and he was still suffering until 12ish months.

Amanda, Levi does that. It's normally when he's pulled off for a big breath and he goes back in for the kill and the boobs not where HE thinks it should be lol. Opens his mouth and throws his head around. I've found pinching the boob and putting it in his mouth, so some milk leaks out, helps.

So much going on in here today...

I have had a crappy day.. Not so much with Aubree.. But with my crazy MONSTER in law!! She made me feel like absolute ****!!! DH was talking to her on the phone and he told her that I had been to the clinic at the beginning of the week to have a check up with the nurses.. Anyways he told her that Aubree has gained 545g since birth, and she proceeded to say that that was no where near enough weight and that I should think about starting formula!!!.. (I would like to point out this woman formula fed all 3 of her kids, is NOT a midwife, or a nurse and the nurse from the clinic was so happy with the weight gain) For the first couple of weeks, I was so insecure about Aubree's feeding and weight gain, and after that clinic appointment I was feeling good, like I knew I was doing it right, now Im second guessing myself again!
Sorry for just blabbing about that, but Ive been feeling crappy about it all afternoon!

Mollie - go tell that witch to shove a bottle of formula in her mouth!

Seriously, people should just keep their thoughts or opinions to themselves, instead of saying things to a NEW mum with no thought! *****s me no end :|

I'm feeding boobie juice to Zoe and also giving her bottles of formula... personally I have no problem with a mum who boob feeds or formula feeds... as long as bubs is happy then who has a right to give their two cents worth?

Must say I feel for you girls with ur monster in laws!

My hubby lost his dad two years ago and then his mum 2 months later ... so I have no in laws!

Speaking of mums....my mum arrives on Wednesday for a month! w00t

Ohhhhhhhhhh mollie you poor thing, I'd have been furious!!! That's plenty of weight! And what the heck does she know, what makes her such an expert?! Ugh!!!!! Okay I have a theory with our MILs- i reckon it's like they secretly don't like admitting that we are good wives / mothers cos they like to feel like the superior woman in their son's lives still- and therefore they throw in these stupid put-down type comments to make us feel bad to make themselves feel better! Theyre really so petty. Your doing a perfect job, don't listen to her, she's probably doing it cos she knows deep down that your actually doing things really well and can't handle it! Ugh, it honestly sounds like the exact type of comment my MIL would say. I SO sympathize!!!

My MIL isn't coming over this weekend anymore!!!! She's going to wait till Christmas... Thank goodness! Though I don't want to see her then either hahaha!

AM ohhhh must be the same thing then!! Ha! I was so confused when violet did it the first time!

Does anyone else worry about touching the soft spot on the top of the baby's head?! It freaks me out that I might accidentally touch it too hard and hurt her brain?!

Personal question, but how is everyones tummies going? Mine looks terrible, belly button looks like it'll stay an outie permenantly, and my skin looks like crepe paper / deflated balloon cos of the stretch marks being so bad, and also at the hospital the physio said my muscles split so bad they could fit a whole hand width between them... Looks like my bikini days are well and truly over!

Hugs to those with bad MILs. Mines pretty good considering, she's more of a I wont help unless you ask type of person.

Levi didn't freak out with his bath. It was nice not to struggle with him.

Hubby is up doing the patting war at the moment. I fed and put him down to self settle but he was to awake and got upset. Hubby took over the settling. I'm laying here listening to the struggle.

My MIL is over the petty comments nowadays. I've had my fair share in the early days though, she tends to work with me and not against which is nice.

Well DD is still refusing the bottle, seems she either has decided it isn't my boob to therefore isn't good enough or dosen't like the taste of the formula suddenly. Not sure what to do. I emailed my LC but was thinking perhaps getting the Medela SNS? This way she can stay at the boob and I can just supp her that way?

Has anyone used one of these before or had bottle refusal this early before? I do manage to get her to take it eventually but she isnt happy about it.

Had a good night regardless she when down for a big sleep at 10pm and had 2 long sleeps overnight, it is just this bottle thing that is starting to become an issue.

Amanda - My mum and nana say the exact same thing.. They think that MIL doesnt think that I am good enough for her son.. You would think after 4 years she would just get over it. Obviously not.. I am not looking forward to going down there on the 28th! Im really going to have to hold my tounge! You know how your MIL said how is MY grand-daughter.. My MIL left the same kind of message on my machine yesterday! I just wanted to punch her!

Nikky YAY for your mum coming to visit! I love living just a suburb away from my mum!

Hmmmm, if she's relatively settled and sleeping like that maybe she just wasn't hungry? What were her nappies like? Could be she'd gotten enough from your boobs and didn't need the bottle as much...

Yeah thats a possiblity CK, She has grown a bit and sucks alot better. I think her mouth has just gotten bigger, because I can just pop her on and off she goes now, where it was such a struggle before. Her nappies are 6-8 wet a day and 1-2 dirty a day with the comps. Shes down to 20ml formula comp the last 2 feeds which is a significant reduction. She still cries after a feed, because she is hungry but your probably right she isn't as hungry as in the past. I'll have to keep an eye on it. I dare not believe my supply is getting better. Don't want the dissapointment LOL Thanks xx Over night she was taking 40ml comp but that is still down from what she had had previously. It's so hard to know shes a bit of a fuss pot :lol:

MIL suck Mollie I wouldn't even engage her about the forumla comment I would just ignore her. She comes from a time when Formula was pushed as better for babies than boobs so she is probably just coming from somewhere completely left of field but I get what you mean about it being insulting. I hate the insinuation your not caring for your bubs properly :hug:, I'm still having trouble with my Step MIL causing drama over visits. Seems to think we should fit in with their schedule.. wtf?! I'm like well you want to see the baby or you don't your choice LOL

Lilly's Gma is coming to visit today (my mother I call her Ma, hence Gma lol) and his Grandmother (DH mother) is staying with us for christmas so pleased :) I'm going all out this chrissy and making it nice, our first family one!

My stomach isnt crinkly, but it is very spongey feeling and saggy, and I still have fat there and on my back and thighs from bubs ew :\ Hoping 6 weeks rocks around soon so I can start walking daily and dieting again. I am pleased about my CS scar, it is very thin and hard to see, I won't have much of a visible scar once it heals, and it is right down low, not on my stomach so no over hang issues ! :D Hooray for my OB he did a good job.

Had a decent night with the in-laws, other than maybe feeling a little left out because Mister wanted to feed pretty well the whole time and the comfy chairs were in another room to where everyone was. I did try feeding him at the table over dinner for a bit but it wasn't working so well. SIL preferred privacy to feed her kids, so they all tended to just leave me be even though I was trying to encourage them to come talk to me :lol: They all think he's gorgeous and are absolutely besotted with him, my 2 year old niece kept wanting to offer "Baby Alex" her favourite teddybear which was so cute :)

Got a tmi question. The last few days my vajayjay area has been achy, not sore to touch, doesn't feel like a bladder infection. Anyone else have anything similar?

Mollie, i reckon there are certain MILs who would never think ANYONE is good enough for their sons... and its not cos they think your not good enough as such, its just cos they cant accept the fact that they are not the main woman in their sons lives anymore, and it seems to make them jealous.. thats how i see it with my MIL... mine makes stupid comments all the time, before bubs came along, she always made little remarks about how well i was looking after DH - im a vegetarian and i do all the cooking, and she always used to say to DH, "are you getting enough nutrition from all this vegetarian cooking?" infront of me... and i always responded saying that ive been raised vegetarian since birth, and that since i was very young, was taught the right ways to make sure meals contain the right amount / right kinds of iron / protein etc.. and DH is hardly wasting away, hes very well built and looks perfectly healthy! but yeah i hated the way she would imply i wasnt looking after her son well - er and HELLO he could cook meat if he wanted to, he just never cooks dinner, so he eats what i cook! SO yeah i am defintely preparing myself to have a number of comments implying im not looking after bubs properly too... i tell you, i doubt ill be able to bite my tongue and not talk back, i so dont have the tolerance level anymore! Also YUCK @ your MIL leaving a similar "my grandaughter" type message on your voicemail too... i swear, they do it to be rude. i still havent spoken to my MIL after that comment, meaning i havent actually spoken to her since the birth haha. i intend to avoid it till i absolutely have to! Geez, these women really would be great friends wouldnt they! Maybe theyre the same person....?! Hahaha. Just know your doing a fantastic job, and you are the one who knows best for your own baby, no one else. Especially not her!!

Lolpigs, yeah im soo hanging out for the 6 week mark when i can start exercising!! im going to try do physio / pilates to try get my stomach muscles to join back together.. as for the crinkly skin i think im stuck with that which is annoying... very unnattractive and i feel very self conscious.. i wont let DH even walk into the bathroom if im in the shower... YAY about your CS scar!!! I heard they can be a real pain, so woohoo for yours being really hard to see!!

AM - YESSS!! My vijayjay has been achey the whole time since birth, i still have to take pain relief for it sometimes, and its a seperate pain from the stitches, like, not a pain relating to anything in particular, just an overall bruised, uncomfortable feeling, sort of like pressure?! yeah really annoying..im wondering how long it will take to go away!

Thank goodness I'm not crazy Amanda lol. I hadn't had anything until a week ago, it's almost like a stretching/ aching sensation. My bleeding is at the discharge stage (no blood loss), so I was getting worried.

Levi had his Santa photos today, get to pick them up Tuesday. He also wore his first pair of shoes :)

Can't say I've noticed anything like that downstairs - I'm pretty well back to normal bar the odd bit of discharge now and then (blerg).

Right now it's 8am, last night Alex went down at around 10.30pm and slept until just before 5am, woke up and took one side then went straight back to sleep. And is still asleep. I need him to wake up soon, my other side is very full, even after I expressed 70mL earlier this morning (which is huge for me, as I usually get hardly anything). Mind you, when he was feeding at 5am, it sounded almost like he was drowning in it as the let-down was so fast he had to guzzle to keep up :lol:

Going out with some girlfriends to go christmas shopping today, shopping in Perth on a Sunday - going to be bedlam, wish me luck!

I'm waiting for the dreaded poo explosion that i am sure Abby will do today, she didn't go yesterday at all and has been farting like a trooper since last night.
