Yay for finding something that works!

Feeling heaps better this morning, was just so cranky yesterday, didn't even want DH to cuddle me when we went to bed - as I said to him, it was the first chance that day I'd had to have my skin to myself.

We have Mister's appointment with the CHN today - he's busy talking to his toys and kicking his legs out on the floor at the moment though

Back from our CHN checkup - Alex is now 6.365kg, 61cm long and HC 39.5cm. Knew he was getting huge, I'm starting to put him into 00 clothes as half his 000 ones don't fit anymore. He's also apparently meeting most of the milestones for a 3-4 month old, the clever little rascal

We had our CHN this morning too and Abby is 5.252kg - just over the 50%, think she is just going to be average well that's how she's been charting since birth anyway

Lolpigs glad it's working well for you . I found after the first week that Abby just follows that routine pretty closely now.

Ck yeah I think I'll check with the dr.. It's like the scar tissue is completely non stretchy now... I doubt I'd ever be able to give birth again vaginally without causing significant damage! I hope it's just temporary...! Hehhee go Alex! Violet is in half 000 and half 00 outfits too and were moving her to crawler nappies!

Lolpigs- sounds like one awesome routine! I still can't get violet to sleep during the day?! Other than really short dozes... We were loaned a my little lamb swing from friends - she will sleep in that for a little while but other than that- no hope! And she is really tired during the day- she gets so sleepy looking! I try all the settling methods I use at night but she just doesn't want to sleep!!

Reading about all these big babies makes Aubree seem so small She has only just gone up a nappie size to infants, and is still fitting into some of her 0000 outfits.. Although she was only 3kg when we was born. We have our CHN appt tomorrow and we are starting at a Mother's group in our area as well so that is kinda of exciting..

Hmm as soon as I started back on the breast milk bubs started to get unsettled again and I just had to go for an hour walk to get her to go to sleep in the pram. Weird? I only have like 1 coffee a day and only one bowl of cereal so no idea why. Perhaps I will have to stick with formula?

I've also noticed she overeats when I give her breast milk, she normally will take from 120 - 130ml of formula, but if I give her breast milk she will take 180ml and cry for more then spit it up :/ Not sure what is up with that?

Amanda - Lilly still is doing that during the day, her naps are fairly short if I can even get her down, varies from 45mins to an hour and 45mins. Half teh time its broken up between cot and swing becuase she wakes up and I can't settle her again. Walking for ages in the pram helps Lilly but only if I can walk for an hour at least like today which is a killer.

Still doing the 4 hourly routine not sure what to do about the breast milk? will keep giving it to her and see how it goes

Mollie - Abby was 3.290kg at birth so at the smaller end compared to some of these mummas on here that breed little buddhas hahaha!! Abby also still fits into newborn nappies and some 0000 too!!

Who are you calling a little buddha?

Lolpigs, is the formula you're using cows milk based or a low-lactose one? Maybe she's having trouble with the little bit of lactose in your BM? I dunno, just throwing out suggestions here. Wouldn't think one coffee and tiny bit of dairy in your diet would have that much effect.

Just signed Alex up for his first library card and for storytime. Looking into a mothers group in my area as well just for an excuse to get out of the house now and then

I use Goat's Milk formula, so it has lactose but it is supposed to be far more gentle on the tum than cows milk, the cows milk formula we had was just horrid on her guts worse than my BM.

Well thats it it seems. I just fed DD her 3rd BM feed today and she just screamed the house down. Drank too much and was completely unsettled. Looks like whatever it is in my BM she can't tolerate it and it dosent make her happy. SHe isn't content after a BM feed she screams. She was getting so much more settled yesturday but at least now we know what the cause is

Feel like a failure, after all that hard work now its upsetting her stomach Could have been what was upsetting her all along even which makes me feel even worse for putting her through all that! My husband told me I should write a book called Perserverance because I tried so hard. Didn't make me feel any better. Next feed we are going back to formula as much as it pains me I want a happy content bubba. How do you stop lactating without getting Mastitis?

I had a massive cry, I mean full on wail and I don't feel any better about it at all.

Oh sweetheart You have done a fantastic job and she has gotten massive amounts of benefit from your milk, even if it has been upsetting her - all those antibodies won't go to waste. You are a wonderful mum and stuck at it far longer than I could've - your hubby is right!

Stopping lactation should be done gradually, just express what you need to for comfort and to prevent blockages rather than full feeds and gradually reduce it down. I'd also maybe talk it over with a LC or your nurse to see if they have any advice.

LOL - I agree with Cranks, don't be so hard on yrself gorgeous mumma xxx you have stuck at it a lot longer than most! Lilly is a lucky lil bub!

Harriett is really acting out atm. She said something to me last night while I was putting her to bed...*mummy, I see daddy and narnie (my mum) all the time, but I don't get to play with you much anymore* ... seriously girls, I nearly cried! I tried explaining how I have to spend a lot of time with Zoe as she is so tiny and needs mummy to do lots of things etc. And she was really understanding, saying she knew that but she MISSED me ... omg...she is FOUR! I feel so damn bad

This Saturday I am taking her to see (god help me) the Chipmunks at the movies! Just a mummy and Harriett day...take her out for lunch etc... her first ever time at the movies! So hope she likes it.

I weighed Levi today he was 6.51kgs at 8 weeks lol. He's such a little boofer and his friend is 15 weeks and 6.71kgs lol. Just about as big as him too. I'm jealous I never got a tiny baby but OMG I never knew I could love someone do much. Every time he does something cute or new I have to stop myself crying and I've never been a crier.

He's been reaching out and touching my face after a feed and burp. Talks non stop and thinks he's part of every conversation. Knows his name, reaches out to touch things (even if he doesn't quite get them), follows you Witt his eyes, smiles at key words (boobie, dad, nanny, poppy and poopie bum) and smiles when we talk in high/low tone voices.

He touched his foot today, loved the sensation of feeling it in his hand and foot. Think that will be a new discovery soon lol.

Lolpigs I had the loveliest of CHN's today and her comment to me was a happy baby has just as many health benefits as a BF bub. You have done the best you can for Lilly and you know parenting doesn't come with a to do manual so we all just stumble through doing the best we can at the time. You're a beautiful mumma don't ever doubt that!! Go with what you feel is the best path.

AM Levi sounds like a real little gem

Had to go out twice today and poor Abby was so tired tonight with being put out of routine. She is really used to having a good couple of hours sleep morning and afternoon and when we're out she only really gets to sleep half hour here and there in the ergo that she ends up way over tired.

I have no idea why, but Alex had a horrible night tonight. Just screamed and screamed and nothing we did made much difference bar the shower but he'd start screaming again as soon as we got him out. Eventually I decided to run him down to the after hours GP as it was totally out of character for him....but he fell straight to sleep in the car before we got there, so we came home and I put him into bed - he's just woken now for a feed. Trying to think whether it could've been something I ate but am drawing a blank because all I had for lunch was a ham and salad wrap, some yoghurt and a banana. Ah well, heres hoping it's just one of those mysteries and he's back to his cruisy happy self tomorrow...

Thanks guys. Still don't feel great about it. I don't get much support from my family aside from DH so it's hard and even he dosent understand really so he thinks I should just be able to get over it. I had a look at the milk I pumped this morning, there seems to be zero fat in it or very little? I guess this is the problem, no fat means perpetual hunger. :\ Least I know now. Noone understands why I am so upset about it.

Lilly had another great night. 10:30pm feed, and back to bed until 6:30am. I woke up every few hours to check on her thought LOL I am getting compression leaks in my cloth nappies though, any ideas Dan on how to get them to last longer? I'm trying sleeping bags with DD to see if she will sleep in those instead of a wrap, as having her unwrapped causes her to wake, blegh safter for her now she is rolling.

That's not good CK I hope he is feeling better and it was just gas or something simple like that.

So cute Amumma DH is the one that gets all the smiles at the moment, I get all the grumping... feed me etc LOL

Yes but I eat those quite regularly without any problems. I think it will remain a mystery known only to His Serene Smileyness.

Bananas can cause consterpation in babies. Also if you had any other dairy during the day it could be an overload.

Levi had a growth spurt while I was blinking, he's very long today lol
